Citrus Heights Planet Fitness is a great gym with solid equipment and a clean environment, but the weekend hours really need improvement. Closing at 7 PM on Saturdays and Sundays makes it difficult for people who work long or irregular schedules. A lot of members, including myself, would benefit from extended hours—or ideally, a 24-hour schedule on weekends just like many other locations offer.

I hope management considers updating the hours so everyone can get their workouts in without rushing. The gym has a lot of potential, and better weekend availability would make a big difference.

The gym itself is clean, staff are attentive at the counter.

I'm giving three stars because there was trash under the seating in the ADA changing cubicle of the men's shower, and it seemed apparent it had been there for sometime.

In addition the ADA shower, the privacy shower curtain only covers about half the shower, and the actual showerhead is leaking very badly.

I rejoined at this location from Watt Ave. This location has the equipment that the Watt Ave location foolishly got rid of. This location has friendly staff and the equipment I'm used to so it's a game changer for me. I appreciate the folk here understanding keeping the equipment is essential! I enjoy this gym, it world be nice if the 30min area was better monitored, it's frustrating when your on a roll and then someone comes in a takes the next machine on routine and just sit there, picking music, taking pics etc. I get it wanting to get the best and customers should be more mindful but it's irritating non the less. I have been a member of this Planet  Fitness location for more than 10 years. I appreciate the increased size and new equipment but they do a terrible job with the 12 TV monitors.  The volume on the audio for TV #1 is too low and can’t be heard on my ear buds even at full volume. Closed captioning is useless unless you are right in front of the TV you want to watch. TV #4 has ESPN but NO AUDIO.  TV #5 has the FOOD CHANNEL but NO AUDIO.  TV #10 also has FOOD CHANNEL and good audio.  TV #5 should have video and audio for local channel 40 KTXL.

I travel a lot. So I go to all the planet fitness’s.
On this night at this location I stopped in for a massage and to use the restroom.
No toilet seat covers at all in my stall. Not even a dispenser it was gone?!
So weird and gross.
Also the look I got from the young folks when I asked to be set up in the deep tissue massage chair. Like I was dumb. They looked at me crazy then I said coin chair. The light bulb went off.

I’m a former member of Planet Fitness. I always thought the facilities were clean and offered a good variety of exercise machines. The staff at this location were welcoming and nice to me. I mostly terminated my membership because the hours aren’t 24/7 at my club anymore.

Edit: I have canceled my membership TWICE with one before the billing date and I still have Planet Fitness calling me about my payment not going through. They also charged my partner twice even though her plan was canceled as well.

I've been going to Planet Fitness in Citrus Heights for about two weeks now, and I've been really impressed. The staff is super friendly and professional, and the place is always clean and inviting. I’ve been attending this gym for over a year now. My husband and I downgraded our membership in April from the $20 plan (still not even sure what the exact plan cost is, as my mom is charged $25 and we were charged $23 and some change) to the $10 plan, but they continued to charge us $23. In July, I realized this and called for myself. Per recommendation from staff, I explained my situation and asked to speak with a manager regarding it. To make a long story short, they will never put a manager on the phone. The associates will always say that they’re going to put you on hold look into the account, and they will not return with manager or call one when needed. One male associate told me that his manager was next to him, so he was going to put me on hold to ask him about my situation- rather than just letting me speak to the manager. I had to call 2 times just for myself to get the issue resolved. Both of these times, I spoke with Joanna, who provided horrible customer service. She was snooty, short, and rude with her answers; as if I was the reason I was being overcharged. My husband just called today and spoke to a woman. She sounded just like Joanna, and told him that she could only give him a refund for 3 months although it’s been 4 for him as well. I took the phone from him and explained that I spoke to her mid-July and she gave me 4 months free due to this issue. She was quick to change her answer, and only gave me a sassy “okay”.
This problem is now solved for both of us, which I’m grateful for, but the customer service doesn’t even deserve a one-star rating.

Sunrise citrus heights club insisted on seeing my ID, and I have been a member for more than 3 years and not sure why I have not ever been told that. The staff member indicated that the policy is (according to a sign posted adjacent the check-in desk) guest visitors are required to show ID. Actually in my case I don't think that members are treated like this. Please make sure you are not going beyond policy, it's not going to make any member happy to be treated like a visiting guest.

This is possibly the worst not only gym but Planet Fitness I have ever been to. The staff is extremely rude, the locker rooms are disgusting, when I bring a complaint to the staff & manager they do nothing about it and I am returned with attitude. I sent an email to this location over 4 months ago asking them to cancel my membership. My husband passed away and I moved out of state. I never heard anything and continued being charged. I called on a Saturday and the lady I spoke with was able to cancel it FINALLY and told me to call back during business hours to have the fees reversed. I went in and there were two girls at the front desk, one of them smiled and greeted me and the other was totally irritated that I had a question. I happened to be asking how to cancel my membership because I’ve paid for it for a year and never come in… I know… The grumpy girl decided she wanted to help. By help, I mean write an email address and tell me to email that I should email to cancel. I checked online and it clearly states to go into a club to cancel. She didn’t seem to understand that. The girl then proceeded to slide a receipt with an email scribbled onto it over to me on the counter. She was incredibly rude- I’m glad I don’t workout here. Let’s end this membership via email and see how that works out. I bet I’ll be in again trying with another associate (cross my fingers I don’t get the rude skinny girl again). I wouldn’t workout here when there are plenty of nicer gyms in the area.

While I like the gym, the atmosphere seems to have changed, the equipment is better, but it’s harder to get use of it because you have a lot of people sitting at the weights on their phones, I see people taking dumbbells and bringing them over to the bench press and just hogging the gym equipment as well. I understand that it’s high use equipment but when I came a few years ago this wasn’t the issue. It’s hard to get use of any equipment except when it comes to the machines, which nobody seems to want to use. I’m upset that I will have to wake up earlier in the morning and go when no one’s there. The staff should do something about this because while it’s a nicer gym, it’s harder to get any use of equipment you would like to use. Unless you’d like to completely stop your workout and sit and wait by a bench while someone is sitting there on their social media or doing whatever they’re doing. Let’s not forget this is a gym and we should be encouraging people to move, not sit around

Amazing place to workout. Especially after 7 the crowd goes down. Theyve got a new hybrid and red light and tanning booth that is meant to be good for your skin and give you that nice golden tan. I am a Total Fan of Planet Fitness! I live in my RV full time with my wife and two small dogs. Planet fitness provides me the opportunity to work out, which I Love to do and I use their water instead of mine to take showers. Also, I Love their hydro-massage loungy and a massage chairs! On top of that, their staff has always been friendly and kind and helpful and informative and let us know if we could park overnight for free in their parking lot. My wife can work out as my guest at no additional cost! It doesn't get much better than this for a gym membership anywhere!

They lost a customer for life. Short story… I haven’t been there in many months. I went in to cancel but they were closed for remodeling. Called their corp number and was told that I had to cancel at the facility.

Around the same time for unrelated reasons i closed my bank account. I figured we were done. It turns out I used my CC once to buy a water so they started charging me there. To the tune of $147 in 3 months!

Today i went in to close my account and the woman (manager?) behind the counter was very rude. She explained that I was being charged late fees in an account sweep.

I asked to have the late fees reversed and they could just be happy with the many months of unused membership dues. She instead just kept throwing their antediluvian process in my face.

“We posted a note on our window.”
“Mam, you were remodeling and there was a fence blocking access.”
“Well we posted it a month before.”
“I just told you that I hadn’t been here in several months.”
“Well if you had called us.”
“I called service number on the website and they told me I needed to come here, which was closed for remodel.”
“Well if you had called our number we would have redirected you to Citrus Heights.”
“How could i reasonably expect that, when your facility is closed and corporate couldn’t help me?”

Then came the cold shoulder, she was so curt and rude. They even charged me one more month because I didn’t cancel in time. Let’s be clear… in havent used the membership in like 9 months. And they can’t just be happy with that? They have to squeeze extra dollars out of me?

Anyway, I’ll never go back and I encourage everyone to go elsewhere. Try a locally owned gym, cuz these people are completely money hungry and unreasonable.

They had a lot of the same machines and not some of the other ones I would have expected to see. For example, there are rows and rows of treadmills and ellipticals but, they didn't have the assisted pull up machine. There isn't a large area to stretch and I could not find the padding for the Smith rack either. I guess it is ok if you are just there to do cardio and follow their 30 sec interval training in the side room. Idk having been a personal trainer for so long I was not impressed with planet fitness.

The new layout gets the 2*. The staff came up to us and said no crocs change and you can continue. We have done this for weeks. So we have to leave. Then we see 2 people come with crocs. Talk to the associate and instead of saying thank you for bringing it to our attention I get attitude. "Oh they go and change and get on the floor." No they haven't and they are on the floor now.
