I have belonged to Planet Fitness for about a year now. I have been fortunate enough to be able to visit Planet Fitness locations around the US. I have to say the employees at the Costa Mesa CA location has the rudest employees. It is an older gym but the equipment is in decent condition. There are a couple treadmills that have been broken for the three weeks that I have been in town.

Be careful if you shop At Homeand and eat at any of the restaurants or work out at Planet Fitness as the parking lot has a very aggressive security guard if your vehicle is there more than 2 hours that will call a tow company. With the management company losing first Party City and now At Home, you would think they want people to spend more time to spend money by working out, shopping and eating and not be intimidated by Parking Security. It would be helpful if the stores and restuarants would discuss this matter with the Plaza Owner.

This is my local gym and I love it !
Have been going there since October 2024 helping me achieve my healthy goals!
The morning crew is super nice and friendly ! They’re constantly cleaning which makes me feel better all around since many users don’t clean up after themselves :/
The evening tends to be a bit chaotic and unfortunately the crew isn’t as amicable or welcoming 🤷🏻‍♀️🙈nor do they keep up with cleaning , emptying out trash and or refilling the paper towels or spray bottles
Best time to go definitely before 6pm!

I love my gym. I am lucky enough to have a 24 hour location near me and I have used them all. I am not a gym rat by any means but I love going around 4 in the morning to avoid the crowds. The gym is kept very clean and the equipment is well kept and very occasionally out of order. Even then, they are usually repaired in a day or two. Locker room, restrooms and showers are always spotless as well.

SECURITY in a GOLF CART HARASSING anyone who sits in their vehicle! My elderly mother and I finished a workout session at the Gym, sat in our vehicle hydrating and talking when a Hispanic male (SECURITY GUY) CREEPED up and yelled at us "NO SLEEPING IN THE CAR"!!, I told him we just came back from the GYM he replied:" Then go in the gym or leave", HE also yelled at 3 other people sitting in their vehicles. Very aggressive. Planet fitness needs to make a complaint about the SECURITY.

OTR truck driver stuck in L.A. and i had to pay $20 for a day pass to take a shower. Then find out they don't provide towels so there was another $8 plus tax for a towel. Showers were filthy and I do not ever planing on going back there.

WE JUST REQUESTED THEM TO FREEZE OUR ACCOUNT TEMPORARILY (4 months) DUE TO A JOB OUT OF THE COUNTRY AND WAS TOLD WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DO THAT UNLESS WE HAVE A CERTIFIED LETTER FROM A DOCTOR THAT WE HAVE MEDICAL ISSUES. SO WE HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO CANCEL OUR MEMBERSHIP WHICH WE HAD TO PAY $25 FEE AND SEND A CERTIFIED LETTER THROUGH THE MAIL TO OUR MAIN PF AND THEY INFORMED US IT CAN TAKE 3 WEEKS TO TAKE EFFECT.
IF THEY RATHER LOOSE CUSTOMERS THAN TO FREEZE THEIR ACCOUNT TEMPORARILY THEN SO BE IT!! WE WILL FIND A DIFFERENT GYM WHEN WE RETURN HOME.

For anyone that likes this gym - I love that for you! Personally, I was not a fan. This PF location is on my way home from work, so I decided to try it instead of driving further to my usual location. Nope, the extra long drive is worth it to me!

This PF is small and cramped. The cardio machines do not have their own tvs and face other workout areas, I waited multiple times for equipment and couldn't even get 10lb dumbbells for a while, there's no TRX area, there's hardly any open space for lifting dumbbells or stretching, the machines and weights looked aged, the parking lot felt sketchy, I did not see the employees greeting/saying bye to guests, the crowd was heavily male...I can just get an overall more comfortable and pleasant experience elsewhere.

To their credit, they had a decent locker room/bathroom/shower area, it was generally clean, and no obnoxious "lunk alarm" decor on the wall.

Not happening. Unfriendly, distant & neither of the guys at the counter seemed to have a solid answer for anything. Going to the Y instead. I did an inspection in the ladies locker room. And I'm going to say the first thing that came into mind that this is not a safe environment. They're repeated signs posting do not leave this do not leave that keep your belongings in the car etc etc I would no longer feel safe showering or leaving anything or bringing anything into this facility particularly, because it's in a caddy corner location in the shopping center and to think of this facility being open 24/7? There is no way in hell I'm going to come here to work out and feel comfortable about showering or being able to put anything in a locker regardless if I have a lock on it or not. I did not feel safe visiting which means I would not feel safe being a member here. I pass and there it is.

My husband and I car camp very frequently. We love going on road trips . We typically use planet fitness facilities to freshen up. I was highly disappointed in the cleanliness of the bathrooms & showers . The floors of the shower are absolutely disgusting luckily I have shower shoes so that didn’t bother me too much . The shower curtains look like they haven’t been cleaned or changed in while . There’s mold all over them.

I also felt super uncomfortable in the ladies room. The night shift worker seemed to be in the bathroom the entire time I was trying to freshen up . I understand they need to tidy up and make sure it clean but she was on her phone the entire time just sitting on the benches in the locker room. I felt like I didn’t have privacy to get changed. The super weird thing is after I was dressed and almost ready to leave then she decided to leave the locker room. Maybe I’m overthinking . Side not there’s bunch of creeps in the parking lot .
