Hello, good afternoon. It was nine in the morning and I arrived at the gym I registered at. I wanted to shower. There were bacterial stains on the shower floor, and an employee was cleaning it. I asked if I could use the shower, and he said yes, so I went in. I hung my belongings on the hook: my underwear, towel, and phone. The locker didn't have a lock, and to prevent theft, an employee named Randy threw all my belongings into the bacteria-infested water. My underwear was covered in muddy water, and so was my phone. He didn't even look at me and apologized. I threw away the things I'd brought to shower. I asked him why he did this. He didn't explain it and told me to talk to the manager. I told him I wouldn't talk to the manager and that I would complain to Planet Fitness customer service. He got angry and cursed.

gym smells good, looks like a legitimate gym. people are friendly and so are the staff. i paid $4.50 yesterday for 3 water bottles since i left my reusable one at home. i love how the machines are modern, have how-to’s for using them, there are fans, yoga mat’s, tanning booths, and massaging areas for those who get the black plan. i’m really glad i go here and helps build my confidence and use my time so i don’t splurge at a mall :P thank you Planet Fitness and Daly City Staff ^^

I have repeatedly encountered a member—specifically, a Latino woman—who consistently disregards this rule. I have personally spoken to her twice to inform her that camera use is not allowed in the locker room, but she continues to take photos. Today, I caught her again using her phone camera in the locker room. When I confronted her and reminded her of the posted policy, she began yelling at me in Spanish.
At that moment, a staff member named Claudia Martinez walked by. I explained the situation to her, but instead of addressing the issue, she began speaking in Spanish with the woman in question. Ms. Martinez later told me that the woman’s behavior was due to a “language barrier,” then brought her into the changing area where they continued speaking privately in Spanish.
Shortly after, Ms. Martinez returned and told me that “too many people use cameras in the locker room,” and that if I did not feel safe or satisfied with the gym, I was free to terminate my membership. I found this response completely inappropriate and dismissive—particularly as I was not the one violating gym rules. When I asked why I was being told to leave when the other member was in the wrong, she repeated that anyone who is not satisfied may cancel their membership.
Most upsetting of all, Ms. Martinez then told me that my “action is so childish.” When I asked what I had done to warrant this comment, she offered no explanation other than giving me her name and leaving the locker room.
As a committed and rule-abiding member, I find this treatment unacceptable. Not only was a clear violation of gym policy dismissed, but I was also treated with disrespect and made to feel that standing up for my safety and privacy was somehow wrong. This issue needs to be followed up by the club manager for every member safety and that staff should provide an appropriate explanation and formal apology for her action.

This dude pulled his jeans down on front of minors, another woman, and myself so he could "tuck his shirt in" . I reported it immediately to the staff, and they allowed him to STAY in the gym!

They allow male members into the female locker rooms…not male staff. Fellow adult male gym goers. Disgusting. Not sure what their LGBTQ status is but males shouldn’t be allowed in female locker rooms. Perhaps they should have Gender Neutral locker rooms if they cannot enforce male/female locker rooms or if they want to be “LGBTQ friendly”.

I’ve always enjoyed the planet fitness locations because they are peaceful, without people slamming weights, and people are respectful of each others workouts. During my workout tonight, a trainer that worked at this location was yelling so loud for her clients workout, the entire gym was turning around to see who was making so much noise. I approached the desk, who offered no solution. After I returned to the treadmill, the front desk approached the trainer who then belittled me from the upper level of the gym. This is so far from any experience I’ve ever had at any Planet Fitness. The management should have a good look at who is working here and the manner which their staff treats their guests.

This Planet Fitness location is awkwardly situated, with a difficult to navigate parking lot. That being said, the gym inside is more or less like every other Planet fitness. One weird observation is that when someone is running on one of the treadmills over the women's locker room, it sounds like a wrecking ball being dropped overhead repeatedly. Facilities are as expected for a busy gym. I joined in order to rehab my surgical repair of my hamstring and have a specific set of exercises to do. 5 different leg machine workouts, with single and double leg reps on 3 of them. Perfect situation for a 25 - 30 min quick strengthening routine. Problem occurs when an individual camps out on one of the machines that this club only has one of. The individual spends 25+ minutes doing his routine. Over 10+ minutes is spent on his phone sitting in the chair. When asking 2 questions at the desk #1 are you getting additional leg press machines, answer " owner doesn't tell us" and #2 what should I do if someone monopolizes a specific machine there is only one of should I come to the desk to inform you? Answer "well you could but we wouldn't do anything" to say that customer service is dead at this place would be a positive statement. Customer service was never trained to the 2 individuals working the desk today (4/21 afternoon).....so I can't really blame them....but I can blame management and ownership....and I do. If you want a gym where the strong bully the not strong...then this is your place. If you want to rehab and get a routine going per PT instructions....not possible here.

Nice facilities, but the crowds are unbelievable. According to their app, the least-crowded time of the day is in the 3 hours before closing. I try to get there around 10pm-10:30pm and I still cannot get from one exercise to another quickly enough to avoid a plummeting heart rate. Most days, I end up skipping 3-4 parts of my routine, simply because the equipment is camped by groups of people standing around bullshitting. The management would tell you to ask to work in. Have you ever tried walking up to a group of guys who collectively outweigh you by 600 pounds and asking if you can work in?

I have been going to this gym for about ½ a year. Despite me always having a valid credit card on file I have been billed for a late fee every single month of being a member. The manager of this franchise, Tarjay, placed a note on my file that I need to contact ASHLINK to pay an outstanding fee before I am allowed access. I’m like “who is ashlink?” and no one can tell me, or give me any contact details for them. I am able to show that I am fully paid up and my health provider Active & Fit has no issue with my membership. It's the best affordable option in this limited market, but I wish the machines that break didn't stay broken for so long and that the express fitness circuit wasn't constantly abused by patrons that squat for long periods (you're supposed to be able to complete the entire circuit in 30 minutes, so that's 3 minutes per machine) without being reminded by staff. Billing inquiries are impossible to resolve - club staff tell you to call corporate, corporate (when you don’t get forwarded to a full voicemail box) tells you only the club can address issues.

It's incredible the first day I came to this gym, they interrupted me because I supposedly didn't leave an exercise item in its place. When I hadn't even used it and I explained that I just moved it and they responded if you don't follow the rules you can leave. I just started my membership today and so I don't have an opinion worth it's weight in gold BUT I can say confidently that Liz has by far the top 10 most standout customer service skills I've ever experienced. I've had a rough morning trying to find a gym and wanting a trial so I don't pick the wrong one especially because I just moved here for work for a few months and don't want to get into a 12 month commitment. I was turned away by two other gyms after they had issues me a trial pass online because I didn't have proof a San Francisco address... Again, here for work... Staying in a hotel. Planet fitness, while they don't have a free 1 day pass at this location, Liz went above and beyond and broke down all of the pricing for me and helped me make the most affordable and efficient decision all while accommodating my temporary needs for a gym. All of this while smiling and personally relating to me. She made my day better. Thank you Liz.

Black mold in all of the shower ceilings; Locker room, shower room, and bathroom floors were all dirty and had spills. I couldn't even use the stall toilet because there was a 2 ft radius puddle of pee surrounding it like a castle and moat. There was at least 2 employees chilling at the desk which either one of them could get up and clean; You can tell it hadn't been cleaned in at least a day for a majority of it, and a couple of days for the rest.

I have been a regular visitor to this Planet Fitness location in Daly City, and I must say that the cleanliness of the showers and ceilings is severely lacking. There is mold, dirt, soap scum, and even used q-tips left behind by previous users. The showers often have old boxers, hair, and a general lack of cleanliness. The men's locker room consistently has a strong, foul smell that never seems to dissipate. I once found the sink clogged with toothpaste residue from people brushing their teeth, which is quite repulsive. The bathroom stall door has been broken for over a year, showing a lack of maintenance. Overall, the facility, locker rooms, and bathrooms are not cleaned as frequently or thoroughly as they should be. While I understand that it's a busy location, the level of cleanliness is far from satisfactory. Immediate remodeling is necessary, especially to address the mold issue. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and improves the hygiene standards at this location.

Except for a 30min break in the middle of the day, was told that members at this location are not allowed to use exercise mats before 3pm (on Mon/Wed/Fri) or 8pm (on Tues/Thurs) because of daily back-to-back classes scheduled during those times. (I suffer from chronic back pain, and couldn’t do any of the stretches that strengthen my back and prevent that pain.) When I asked the class instructor and gym staff for details, I was told to “check the class schedule” and “bring my own mat.” Seriously?

Edit: So I came to edit my first review as they made some significant tweaks. Bars and two benches were placed on the upper level, which improved circulation on the first floor. They also put some mats in the yellow room. I hope that in the future there will be mirrors in the yellow room. That would be perfect.

About the new update: Once again it just became clear that Planet Fitness doesn't care about the opinion of its customers. They made an update without, at any time, doing a survey with users to find out the most used equipment. The gym is still full of cardio equipment and little space for other exercises. They piled up the dumbbells, bars and benches in a tiny space, where it is not possible to do the exercises without bumping into another person. And these equipment are the most used. It is simply impossible to exercise in that space. THERE IS NOT ENOUGH SPACE FOR PEOPLE TO GET A DECENT WORKOUT USING THE DUMBBELLS, BARS OR BENCH IN THAT SPACE. Is it so difficult to understand this? Also, as if the fact that there was only one leg press wasn't enough, the number of seated leg presses was reduced from 2 to 1. And finally, if you need a mat for your exercises, take yours from home, as they don't have them anymore.

Very little staff could do. Even sadder that desk staff has to deal with these situations…regularly. It is a known fact that lockers are being raided and have been for some time with no one doing anything about it.
No hot water in the two showers available. Only two showers you ask? Yes, because the rest are out of order. Because clients are stealing shower heads and breaking off handles due to, you guessed it, no hot water.
Shout out to Santiago who helped me get a cup of hand soap (because they don’t have any type of soap/shampoo on hand?) so I could at least clean off before they closed for the night. I use planet fitness across the country and out of possible fifty different gyms, this one is by far the worst.

I go to Planet Fitness every other day. I love coming there to get tanning and hydro massage and an amazing workout. There are plenty of treadmills upstairs and on the ground floor to get some cardio in. The only reason I leave a 4 star is because if you come during rush hour after everyone gets off work it’s going to be a pain trying to find parking. You can sometimes spend 15-20 minutes waiting for a spot.

I really wanna say good things about it because they have brand new machinery
There are couple really bad notes about this gym.

-tons of individuals that act like it’s prison or jail gym the environment is super hostile.

I wish it was just in my head but both me and two of my friends felt super unsafe, for that reason we told ourselves you know what maybe it’s only this one day. So we kept coming to this gym for like a month to give it a shot.

-It’s a decent size gym, but super overwhelmingly packed and dang the high peak evening. There is a bunch of dudes that are just chilling under their cell phone and doing nothing and keeping a machinery for like 30 minutes that is my experience for a whole month. I wasn’t able to really have a fool out throughout my entire month, barely even once.

-this gym is super cheap. That’s only one positive thing about it.

I truly hate giving bad reviews to businesses, but there is not much that they team can really do about it because the whole structure is unrelated to them. They are nice although they’re just chilling in their boot not doing much but there’s not much they can do the set up is not designed for it.

Signing up was easy. This planet fitness has parking- they provide members a card who Hello you display in your dashboard that gives you 2 hours parking while you work out. My only feedback is that when I signed up the woman did not specify that you can only visit your non HOME gym 10 times a month. However you are able
To switch your home team- just not sure how easy it is to do so. Booking the tan and massage chairs was super easy you can book the time limit and once done you may go and re book there are no limits. Just the time slots in case there are others waiting to use the chairs or tanning beds. You may book a fitness coach via the app and they are group based not one on one, unless no one else signed up for that time slot. This Daly City PF is 24.99 for Black Card- where you may bring a friend with you each time. They do charge you a yearly fee for Equipment maintenance and repairs. Overall, I recommend PF. It’s affordable and includes great amenities!

Location is good. I’m only 10 mins drive from here but I try to go to San Bruno Branch because their equipments are better there. Treadmills don’t have fans and the place is poorly ventilated. On hot days, I can barely breathe. I noticed they added more fans today but it ain’t enough. Also, compared to San Bruno branch, this branch doesn’t have much natural light. Would be nice to get that while working out.

Love the $24 a month deal where you can sun tan every day and bring a guest. The hydro massage is awesome also. This location gets 1 star knocked off for closing at 9pm and would get a perfect score if it was open 24 hrs a day like the other locations.

I like this gym. It's clean & not busy when I go. Nice staff. 6/16/21: My last day at this gym, since I have a credit at my old gym, so I have to go back to it. This Daly City gym was great. 9/18/23: The gym 🏋️‍♂️ 💪 was remodeled. I like it. It seems to have more equipment or better positioned throughout. 1 worker said they have new equipment replacements.

Worst gym ever. Rude harassing parking people. Run away if you want a permanent gym. Give fake parking tickets, harass patrons, make women feel unsafe. Creepy parking people STAY AWAY!!!!

Used the body enhancement and a lady walked in taking photos. Which I asked her to get out and stop taking photos. I had escalated my concern to the front desk immediately after getting dressed which they let me know there was no manager available. They took my phone number down because they were going to let the manager know the situation. A few days later I returned (no manager had called back) and asked the same front desk associates if they had heard back because I felt like they had violated my privacy and nothing was being done. A few days later I returned a manger was on site he mentioned he would find out what happened since the information I had left for the manager was crossed off. Assuming it had been taken care of. It’s been 3 weeks no call back from a manager to see if they let that lady know that it’s not okay to open closed doors or that they had added a lock. NOPE! Nothing!

Is cheap only $10 a month but that's what everybody else is thinking too. 8 and 10 pound dumbbells are hard to find available. someone else is always using them. please buy more 8 pounds and 10 pound dumb Bells. thanks

I got a $63 parking violation for parking at PF's designated parking lot while I worked out and exceeded the 2 hour parking pass by 22 minutes. I arrived at 1pm July 21, 2023 Friday. I parked and the parking attendant took up about 10 minutes of my time chatting me up if I had difficulty maneuvering around a white long mini van that did not park within the lines and didn't bother to pull up into the parking spot. 12 minutes waiting at the 30-min circuit for my turn. I get back to my car after finishing my workout and the same parking attendant gives me a $63 parking ticket. A handful of visits and I'm beginning to hate this place. June 30, 2023 Friday Manager unprofessional. I corrected her that my name was Stephanie and not sweetie so she thought it was a good idea to yell my name across the room at 4:30pm on a Friday while I was on the treadmill. Something about my attitude would not be tolerated. I didn't want to engage with her with so many people working out so I asked her if she wanted me to leave and she just walks away. Not a good impression for my 1st time at PF. Manager distracted me from my cadence running on the treadmill that I fell. I finished my run, enjoyed working out with kettle bells and finished strong on the stationary bike. I will be going back in spite of Janet. I appreciated the cleanliness of the gym and equipment.

Been going there for awhile, I love the upgraded equipments. I also enjoy the variety of equipments it has. However, the gym vibe is not there. The volume of the music is so low that it feels like you’re in a church or library rather than in a gym. Speakers are there for a reason, use it. I would suggest the manager of the facility to go visit San Bruno PF or to Redwood City PF. Remember, the atmosphere and vibe should be poppin, it’s a gym and not a monastery.
