The shower heads are very utilitarian. No spread. This is the same company that makes a ton of money off members that never go to the gym and they can't afford better showers? Lame.

You'll get here what you'll see at most gyms. The Smith machines are always occupied and there are plenty of empty treadmills and stair masters. It's got the basics and it's fine.

Love this gym. I’ve been coming here for a few months. I switched over from Golds gym and I’m so happy I did. This gym is always clean, machines always work properly, and staff is very friendly. It hardly ever gets too busy. It’s all around great.

UPDATE: it has gotten SO crowded in the evenings that there’s no open machines to use and get a decent workout in.. what’s going ?? It wasn’t like this a few months ago

This was definitely one of the better Planet Fitness' that I've been to. I was pleasantly surprised how much space there was at this location. Everything was stationed nicely and spread out so you didn't feel like people were training on top of you. I used to go to the Studio City location, but came to this location today to find that this had much more space than the previous. I was able to train thoroughly without feeling like I needed to strategically plan which machines to get to next. I only wish they had that same glute thrust machine at this location. I think I'll be coming back to this location from now on. So stoked!

This gym is very affordable - but you get what you pay for.

Pros:
- Affordable.
- App is easy to use.
- Front desk staff is friendly.
- Easy parking since gym is located in a shopping center.
- Mostly clean space and equipment.
- There's always an elliptical machine available to use if you just need to do cardio.
- Supplies provided so you can clean your equipment.

Cons:
- As several reviewers have mentioned, this gym has A LOT of teenage clients. They typically workout in groups and lock down the weight machines for a long time. There's no time limit for machines.
- Clients are allowed to record themselves, so there's always someone recording something.
- There's lots of clients who talk on their phone while working out.
- 10% of the treadmills are always broken. They're either wobbly or the interior cup holders are missing.
- The 30-minute circuit area is a joke. There's always someone in there locking down one machine and not doing the circuit.
- Music is loud so it's hard to hear my own headphones.

This is my review after going here for about two months after switching from “24 hour” fitness to here. Short and sweet: it’s awesome and has a great selection of weightlifting & cardio machines.
Longer explanation: this is what every 24 hour fitness wishes they were. Easy to find parking, plenty of food options literally right outside the doors, nice tentative staff, plenty of space, list goes on. The main thing for me that separates PF is the spacing because even when it is “busy” it doesn’t feel crammed; the machines & layout allow for everyone to have their own personal space. Another highlight is that if a machine does have an issue arise, it doesn’t take months for it to get serviced (looking at you 24hr), it takes a day or two, maybe a week to be back in use. The main reason I can assume this is the case for this particular location is because this is a franchise owned location and you literally see the owner running around making sure everything is in tact and up to par. Plus the black card membership makes it even more ideal with the massage chairs & other amenities that come with it.

This is a great gym, in Encino. Very reasonable in price. Great equipment, massage chairs or beds that are wonderful agter a work out. The facility and bathrooms are clean. Enough hand sanitizer and cleanser to keep equipment clean. Staff are all friendly and helpful.
There should be a rule implemented or people should be made more aware not to hog the machines while they are scrolling through their phones and are done exercising on that machine!! Please be more considerate to others!

Buy a scale though… Not to judge but to make sure your staying healthy… Not about the number in the scale showing your weight to track fitness progress. Showing your weight so you know if you’re dropping or gaining too much weight because of some other health issue…Remember it’s a “Health Club”.

The cleanliness is what I appreciate the most! The staff is constantly cleaning the floor and wiping down the machines. It makes for an enjoyable experience!

I really enjoy the Encino Planet Fitness. There is plenty of parking, the club is well maintained. The staff is friendly. And the times I have been there it is not been crowded. They just recently opened one closer to me on Van Nuys and now I am moving to that facility.

I cut my finger on a heavy locker door yesterday when I couldn’t remove my hand quickly enough, resulting in a deep cut. I was bleeding when I went to reception for a first aid kit, but they only had a band-aid and some ointment. I’m still suffering from the cut, and this is insufficient, especially in a gym where people use heavy machines. The gym needs to improve provide proper first aid supplies.

DO NOT JOIN THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU WANT TO FIGHT WITH YOUR BANK AND THE BILLING DEPARTMENT. I was a member, I left because the gym was not meeting me needs as an athlete. That is not what this is about, after I cancelled, I was charged for one extra month because, I cancelled during there 7 day billing cycle, which was not explained when I cancelled and my statement closing even reflected that I would loose access on 8/16 when I cancelled on 8/11. Then this morning I wake up to a new charge of 43 buck on my credit card from them.......which is wild because all my member ship dues came out of checking at where for 23 bucks.............then when you call into have the charges reversed the manager there claims to have no power to deal with the issues.....nor a way to directly contact billing to address the issues they can't.

While I know I am not the first to have these issues hopefully.....I can be one of the last and while sure they have a reputation on being a safe space for people who don't like or know their way around a gym........you had better want to be there forever, because cancelling is a nightmare and dealing with their systems is a joke!!!!

BEWARE OR GET READY TO CALL YOUR BANK A FEW TIMES A MONTH TO FIGHT CHARGES............FML

Today i signed in online in my office (cuz i didnt want to deal with enrolling staff that tries to sell you everything) and never received a confirmation email so i decided to go to the location and asked Anthony if i was registered (he seemed uninterested but fair, its mutual) he recommended to signed in again and i told him i was concerned cuz i didnt want to be charged double. I decided to resign in and asked if it was with him or how. He said i had to do it myself on my phone. I went and did it again... still no email. So i went back to Anthony and asked if i was already in, he said no...i asked for a customer service line to follow up the registering process and he also said no. 0% solutions. No day pasa while i fixed the membership issue, nothing.

I like the location based on the surrounding area. The gym itself seems to be well maintained, although the positioning of some of the equipment is a bit questionable...

in this day and age there is no reason for some equipment to be so close together and facing each other so that the person huffing and puffing isn't doing it towards the other person facing them....Not to mention that there are some empty spaces where equipment could be spread out a bit more but aren't.

The Planet Fitness has a horrible cancellation policy and a terrible customer service. I opened my account and had to cancel within a few weeks, without ever using their facility, and they are charging the annual membership fee $58 plus two months of membership fees. And I've never even used their gym!!

Their advertising of "no commitment" is a lie - it is just a way to collect the annual fee $58 along with a few months of member fees.

Noone at PF can cancel these junk fees - not their billing department (I was told they outsource their billing and the billing dept has no control over the fees), not the gym.

Their Encino facility has no classes. The facility is basic. The smell of sweat is there, especially if you go to their gym in the evening.

The worst planet fitness in town. Some kids there are so annoying. They hoard dumbbells and benches all day. They converse for 30 minutes in groups and work out for 1 minute while holding down all the equipment. No class, no respect for the others. You see these same kids every day at this gym if you're a regular, you know who I'm talking about. Most of us are on the clock, not them, they are there all day. If you're serious about your health and workout, avoid this gym at all costs. I'm canceling my membership.
