While the facility itself is well-maintained and clean, I have encountered serious problems with client care and the management team. After raising a concern regarding harassment from a night shift employee who identifies as “Paco,” my experience at the gym has become increasingly uncomfortable. Unfortunately, when I brought this matter to the attention of Manager Yadira, my concern was disregarded, and no meaningful action was taken to address or resolve the issue. This behavior is unacceptable in a professional and public environment. I expect all members to be treated with respect and dignity.

I usually enjoy coming to Planet Fitness, but I was absolutely disgusted by the condition of the women’s showers. The shower curtain has a thick, nasty buildup of funk and mold growing all over the back. Every time you shower you have to look at it, and it’s almost impossible not to accidentally touch it while washing or just opening and closing the curtain. It’s gross and honestly makes you not even want to use the showers.

This isn’t something that can just be “cleaned” — it will keep coming back. The curtains need to be replaced with new ones. Mold and bacteria like this are a serious health hazard, and I truly hope no one gets sick from using these facilities.

I’ve attached a photo so management can see exactly what I mean. This is unacceptable for a gym that so many people rely on daily.

I’ve been a loyal member at Planet Fitness and have always appreciated the clean facility, friendly staff, and affordable pricing. But this summer has been really frustrating due to the high school summer promotion.

I completely understand the idea behind letting teens work out for free it’s a positive step toward encouraging healthy habits at a young age. However, it’s become a serious inconvenience for paying members. The gym is often overcrowded, with large groups of high schoolers hanging around machines, talking, and not actually using the equipment. It makes it hard to get a proper workout, especially during peak times.

As someone who works for the school district and has summers off, I was really looking forward to using the gym more during the day. But with how packed it’s been, I ended up having to get a separate gym membership just for the summer.

What’s most frustrating is that these teens are often unsupervised. I strongly believe they should be required to come with a parent or responsible adult. That way, there’s at least some accountability and structure, and it could help keep the gym environment respectful and focused.

I hope Planet Fitness reconsiders how this program is run in the future. It’s a generous offer, but it shouldn’t come at the expense of the experience for paying members

This gym does not allow the use of sockets. It is either a design problem or the staff deliberately makes things difficult for me. I want to cancel my membership, but they deliberately make excuses saying that I must go back to the original gym to cancel. The rights and interests are very small and they always find faults. What's the point of keeping such a black card member?

This is a good planet fitness location (better than my original home gym by far). I like their treadmills. They have jump buttons, which is great for intervals. Locker rooms have been clean. Bring your own lock because it doesn’t have the built in locks that other locations have (not a big deal, but it’s something to be aware of). Water dispenser works as it should. Front desk staff is always helpful and nice. They have the new regular massage chairs, which are wonderful. Parking is easy. Good vibes there overall. This location is closer to where I live so it’s obvious why I go to this location, but I like it better than the auto parkway one (because of the newer treadmills and massage chairs).

I've been going to Planet Fitness in Escondido on East Valley Pkwy for a couple of years. It is super clean and spacious, and they recently got all kinds of new equipment, which took the gym to the next level! The staff and management are always friendly and welcoming. And you get amenities like the massage chairs, red light therapy rooms, and tanning rooms... for at least half the price of other gyms. I kinda don't want to tell folks about this secret gem of a gym, but it really is great.

Was going here for a month. Was really good until they replaced the squat racks with weird support machines with slanted rails to guide the bar. All my exercises felt completely wrong, and my back didn't feel right after a few sets. My only complaint is that everything in the gym is designed so you can't possibly hurt yourself in a stupid fashion, but as a consequence, the exercises are off. Kinda like riding a bike with training wheels. Not for me, will be cancelling my membership

Hypocrisy and Hostility at Planet Fitness

I’ve been a loyal Planet Fitness member for years, valuing the “Judgment-Free Zone” they claim to provide. Unfortunately, this particular branch has proven to be anything but that.

To start, the staff at this location follows you around, scrutinizing and policing how you stretch—yes, stretch. As if that weren’t ridiculous enough, they also refused to let me wear my closed-toed Crocs, which pose absolutely no risk to equipment or other members. When I pointed this out, I was met with hostility and the explanation that “it’s policy.”

Fine, I thought, even though my home gym has never enforced such absurd rules. I chose to comply out of respect for my overall membership. However, things took a far darker turn when I noticed a blatant double standard. While I was being targeted for my footwear, I later watched Rusnelia—a staff member—allow another person, who happened to have darker skin, to enter wearing full-on open-toed sandals. The hypocrisy was glaring, and the discriminatory undertone was impossible to ignore.

Rusnelia’s rude attitude throughout the interaction was the cherry on top. As a paying member, I don’t expect to be treated like a second-class citizen, especially when others are blatantly allowed to break the same rules I was reprimanded for.

This location needs a serious overhaul in professionalism and fairness. Planet Fitness is supposed to be a safe and welcoming space, not a place where judgment and double standards thrive. Until changes are made, I’ll be avoiding this branch entirely.

Also on a side note I want to add there has been several complains about a woman who works here and the only one I have seen is Rusnelia.

We have membership at this location, and two weekends now they would close the gym early at 7 pm even though their times says 10pm. Why are they closing early? We pay to use this gym and if you’re supposed to stay open until 10pm like your times states on your door, then it should be until 10pm. I just quit 24 Hour Fitness on Terazza after 2 years to re-join this gym again after being away for 4 years. This Planet Fitness has all of the following that the 24 Hour Fitness doesn't: Great AC, the men's bathrooms are always clean, the gym is not very crowded Mon-Tues-Wed. The water fountains are fast. There are 22 TVs all with different channels, they have a wide variety of equipment and duplicates of each. No backpacks are left everywhere on machines to reserve them for when the person comes back from exercising on some other machine. The machines are well maintained. And lastly, when the machines break down, several months don't go by before they ever get repaired.

I've been a Planet Fitness member for quite some time, frequently visiting locations across the country due to my extensive travel for work. As a former gym manager at a a competing franchise, I chose to be a Black Card member at Planet Fitness for the many convenient locations, and all the great equipment.
Although I work out at locations all over SoCal, I live nearest to Escondido and Vista. I choose to work out mostly at the Vista the E. Valley Pkwy location, and the Vista location, because the same owner of these two and a couple more, definitely has better staffing than all the others I ever visit.
Yadira manages this location, and I can tell that she runs a tight ship, in fact, she probably does more of the cleaning herself rather than delegating it to her staff :) Every time I am there she is pushing the cleaning cart, helping the front desk, or running the vacuum.
All the members there seem to be more family than at many of the locations I visit, and the staff knows almost all of the regulars by name. I know that atmosphere is bred from the top down, so kudos to Yadira, and the ownership, for creating a fun and friendly gym I can call home!

I recently joined Planet Fitness at 1349 E Valley Pkwy, Escondido, CA 92027, and the experience has been fantastic. The manager, Yadi, sets an incredible tone with her warm greetings, always addressing me by name and welcoming me with a smile. I have been a member of Planet Fitness for about 7-8 years now. I tried out a couple other gyms before ...but I chose Planet Fitness east Escondido location. Its really close to my house and works well.
It is ALWAYS Sooo clean there...unlike other gyms I tried. And I mean Exceptionally clean!
The staff there have always been friendly and pleasant.
Over the last year or two ....one employee really stood out to me.....Yadira(my friends and I call her Yadi). Everyone knows her there....and LOVE her "over the top" friendly attitude....like every day she is! Man ...she is always in a fantastic ..Greeting you with a great mood Every day...and she bounces all over the gym ...cleaning machines...restocking paper towels ...you name it ..she does it:). She is a real "drawing card" to that business! It just makes working out fun with fun employees there for ME... at your gym:).
What a great business you have....and such outstanding employees.
I LOVE your Planet Fitness and employess....its why I keep going for about 7-8 years....and tell ALL my friends about your Gym.... NO other gym hooked me in like yours did!!!

My name is Oscar G. On the morning of 10/23/23 I went into this gym as a current and up to date member, I was harassed by the person behind the counter about my membership and moments thereafter I was assaulted by the employee who was attempting to stop me from entering the gym restroom...I was on the floor in disbelief since I am currently disabled and unable to walk due to an injury at work . This employee who had harassed me every day before that about my membership didn't seem to care to physically attack a 53 year old disabled man who can barely walk. While receiving treatment at the emergency room at the hospital I got a phone call from the gym saying my membership has been revoked... I arrived at 9:20 PM all the way from National city and they didn't let me in because they stopped letting in people at 9:15 PM. I mean besides that it was just 5 minutes over I've never seen a gym close that early. I can understand if I arrived 9:45 PM or later that would make sense since they are closing up. Went in and the morning opener was smug and rude because I was a remote member and instead of simply taking note that I was a black card member and paid in full currently, which I was .... refused to allow me use the massage area because the system did not recognize me BECAUSE iM A REMOTE MEMBER! He told me to check with my home club to see what was wrong. He refused to call them himself upon my request because there was NOTHING wrong with my membership. He said it was my problem and that it was NOT his job to see what was wrong with my membership, which there was nothing wrong with it. I had to call. Pros: it's a cheap monthly charge & they seem to keep it clean, if you want to use a treadmill, normally there is one available.
Cons: after 2 months of paying the monthly charge, you are charged $50 for equipment upkeep or annual charge, so take into account if you are paying $10 a month and you cancel 6 months later, you really paid $18 a month, which is still pretty cheap. Although sometimes 24/7 has specials so it's about the same.
ANOTHER big CON: They have free memberships for teenagers. I canceled mine plan because kids were congregating around the front entrance and coming in snd messing around. I started going to one further that didn't have an issue but it became a pain to go further.

Good place to exercise. As most fitness centers time of day is key to having access to more equipment. And of course it's all what you make it. - Update from 6 years ago- After the management turned over seem like inexperienced people came in that did not understand what some of their own machines capabilities were. One a few occasions I had employees come to me to say I was running to hard not he treadmills and would break them. I asked the employees did they know what he capacity of the machines were, they did not. I pointed out the load. Also they indicated I was going to break the plastic at the front because my feet was hitting it. I showed them that I was not, but they wanted to argue about it. After a few times of this interaction and harassment, my wife and I decided to cancel our membership an move to another gym. The other challenge at this location was groups of young people coming in and 3 to 5 would hover around equipment to chat. The employees too would gather at the front desk and sit on the counters and chat. Not a good impression.

I usually go every other day, but this week (6/22/23) I skipped a third day and came back to new, upgraded machines and they also added a new rack of weights at the other end of the gym for easier and more access. The only thing they are missing is the cushion part for the smith machines for glutes excersices, always have to wait around for a free one. Overall great staff and clean gym.

Watch out for the discriminatory gym bag police at this gym. I was singled out with my bag on my back multiple times while other bags, jackets etc laid across the gym room floor. Been to hundreds of gyms across the country and never experienced a more ignorant and uninformed gym staff in my life. She needs to be relieved of her duties stat.

Edit: REREAD MY REVIEW. I had the bag on my back touching no one nor the floor while pointing out bags and jackets etc five feet away from me that she had no problem with. My only issue is about the 30 minute circuit!! It still baffles me why people don’t understand that it is a circuit. You cannot just come in there and sit on a machine because that same machine on the floor is being used…..there needs to be a better way to enforce this! Asked them to cancel my subscription 2 years ago
during the height of the Pandemic. To my surprise, I was still getting charged. Called the store and spoke to a manager they said why didn't you call 2 years ago. Well becuase I thought the store would do what I asked them to do and cancel my subscription. Terrible customer service and 0 lack of compassion for their customers.

Friendly staff but small facility. I only get a chance to go to the gym in the morning and even though it is not extremely busy, there are many people who horde the equipment. One example was this morning when I wanted to use the only leg press machine the place has, and there was a lady who told me she was using it while she was working out with dumbbells next to the machine, I told her no problem I can wait till she is done, 15 minutes later she still had not touched the leg press machine and had gone on to another exercise. I asked if I could use it while she was doing other workouts and she said she was just about to use it, I walked away, and she continued to do other excesses next to the machine. After waiting another 10 minutes I left. This happens all the time with various machines and different people. There should be a policy about hording equipment.
I like the monthly price of the gym membership, but I am willing to pay more elsewhere that has more equipment. Nothing worse when you have limited time to stand around and wait for equipment at a gym.

Alex at the front desk at night has been the highlight of my gym experience for about a month and a half now. Thank you Alex. I look forward to coming in in the evenings because your friendly warm attitude! It feels important to me when I go in to the gym to feel like the employees don’t hate being there, and they’re kind and easy to work with when it comes to account issues.

Alex gives that customer service every time, is warm and personal with everyone as he’s working!

Friendly and professional staff in the morning... but one complaint the male restrooms are dirty, not sure who or what shift is supposed to be cleaning them but I found a maggot on the floor.. and you usually don't get maggots unless there is flies.. and you don't get flies unless things are unkempt indoors... especially in today's world barely comming off a pandemic.. you want to keep a gym sanitary...
