This guy is very disrespectful and annoying! Did not want to tell me who his boss is, he just wanted to talk down to me. Such a shame the rest of the staff has been very friendly and professional especially Pablo the gentleman that helped me join.

Planet fitness practices a deceptive business (borderline fraud!). They will not allow you to cancel your membership online. You have to come in person to cancel -- so that they can pressure you to retain your membership. What happened if you're disable and cannot come in? AVOID THIS GYM OR ANY PLANET FITNESS AT ALL COST!

Everything is bigger n better in California. This planet fitness had all the little details I seemed to notice were missing at my az,nv gyms. The shower stalls are not square stalls but rectangular. The floor has a 6 inch guard to keep water in stall. Curtain liners were great for protecting your clothing from showering too. And the shower curtain rod is bolted to the wall not just pressurized. They don't always hold that curtain up capeesh ? Huge lounge room, huge exercise, weight cardio & machines galore.

Annoyed by their phone policy, use my a phone as a timer for resting between sets and even 30 secs into my minute rest they’re telling me to keep phone use to a minimum.

Machines can be broken for a while before being fixed and multiple paper towel dispensers are often empty.

For it’s price it’s fine but I can’t say I love going here

Manager enforcing strict rules. No bags in the gym area. Can't be on your phone. Can't sit on the "machines" (in my case the sit-up bench so not even a machine) even while resting. I'm working out at my own pace in a way that bothers nobody and I'm not even allowed that.

I just started working out at this gym but one guy who works in there told that I’m not allowed to have my bag with me and that sucks because I have my belt, wraps ,fat grips , bottle of water and all . How am I supposed to go every time to get something to the locker room ?
I mean no body is gonna steal the few dumbbells you guys have . I was looking for a z bar and there’s only one , no rack for squats and no barbell at all .
It’s not a gym for intermediate is for very very beginners .
You better get more equipment like barbell and z bar if you wanna be on the map for more experience people

Today I went to register and take have my picture taken. The one girls working, who I will add is exceptionally respectful was busy assisting a member. The assistant manager “David” stood there engaging in casual conversation for a couple minutes when he finally asked me “I’m sorry, do you need help”? Upon after taking my photo and asking him for a lanyard attachment to check in he David told me “I’m not giving you one”. I’ll mind you my husband , who was the one who signed me up, just received one from the nice girl working the day before. When he explaining this to David he told me “yeah, they weren’t supposed to do that and I’m not gonna give you one”.

After already feeling extremely unwelcome I told him I am going to ask the manager to make sure this is true and explain to them your rude behavior. David told me “ here you set the tone. Welcome to Fountain Valley ! “ I, have always assumed Fountain Valley to be a family oriented friendly community, but I couldn’t help but wonder after this exchange, is the assistant manager at Fountain Valley Planet Fitness Gang related?

I went to look around the gym I just become a new member of when finding out the massage machines need to be turned on by the workers. Upon returning to ask how I could use the equipment David informed me he was going to cancel my membership after I use the massage chairs. That is when I decided to leave the gym and passed on using the massage chairs not only out of feeling insulted but of fear of David’s strange, unprofessional behavior. I couldn’t help but wonder if I was being discriminated at against and if was David’s behavior racially motivated.

When I got home I made the decision I no longer wanted to be a member of Planet Fitness and decided to call to assure David did indeed cancel my membership. This is when he told me “oh I just temporarily blocked you from coming here for breaking company policy”.l and proceeded to hang up the phone. I have contacted the district manager and have attempted am waiting to speak to the Manager Marco Flores as he has yet to be available. If you are looking for a gym to become a member of that is friendly and has professional management DO NOT GO TO PLANET FITNESS IN FOUNTAIN VALLEY while the assistant manager “David” is still employed/if you are African American as you will be highly disappointed.

The general manager was really rude. My girlfriend hurt her ankle and cannot work out as much. I am her guest. She will do what she can and then she will wait for me while I finish up my workout. The general manager said that she cannot be in there waiting for mewhile I finish up my workout. I don’t understand when we pay money to be here and then to be told that we cannot be there for no apparent reason.

I really like hitting the gym. This location is closest to my house, has adequate parking, the hydromassage where you can actually lay down flat. The other locations have one where your body sits in a z shape and not nearly as relaxing. A couple of the workers at the front are kind and friendly. I forgot their names, but they are good kids.
In general the people in the place are decent working out and cleaning the machines when they use them. Occasionally someone needs a shower desperately badly. But I don't suppose that's the staff's responsibility.
Five stars. Don't listen to all the whiners on here with their one and two star reviews!

All I have to say is they need to fix their stair master machine it’s been about a month and they are all broken except for 2!
There are some machines in the back of the stair master that no one uses, they have a full row yet always empty don’t know why they don’t think to place more stair masters instead cause everyone uses the stair master!

Either the girl always has this expression on her face or not. But she is not very friendly and looks straight at the guest. This is just too much. They did not give locks on the storage box and in general the atmosphere at the reception is very repulsive, no vibe and absolute hostility on the face.

I have been attending this location for sometime and have seen management approach people about the cell phone policy. I understand respecting the privacy of others and the no judgment environment. However, it feels borderline harassing and annoying to have management come up to you for using your cell phone and ironic because the machines have a QR code to scan. I would like to continue attending this gym but I don’t appreciate management coming to discuss a policy that seems outdated in this society. Everyone in the gym has a phone with them. The use of cell phone is allowed in the lobby and today I saw management ask members to leave. Instead , management should expedite the shipment for the weights missing in the 30 min room, they have been missing for over a month and other machines are out of order often.

I've been a Black Card member at the Fountain Valley Planet Fitness for several years, but the strict rules have become increasingly frustrating. Today, 8/31, I was approached by gym staff and told I couldn't bring my bag onto the gym floor and had to use a locker instead. This was the first time I’ve been informed of this rule, and it’s just one example of how rigid the environment has become.

Over the years, the gym has changed significantly. It used to be open 24 hours, which was one of the main reasons I joined, but now it's only open from 5 AM on weekdays and 7 AM on weekends. The constant rearranging of machines makes it difficult to find what I need, and the staff seems more focused on enforcing strict policies rather than creating a welcoming and flexible environment.

I've tried contacting the gym director, Melissa Curtin, who I was told is responsible for these policies, but I've received no response. This lack of communication is disappointing, especially given how these changes have negatively impacted my experience.

I’ve been holding off from joining my husband at 24 Hour Fitness because of the convenience of Planet Fitness, but with the increasingly strict rules and lack of flexibility, I’m seriously considering making the switch. It's unfortunate that what was once a convenient and comfortable gym has become so restrictive.

I've been going to this particular gym for almost 2 years. It's generally reasonably clean. Most of the staff is friendly, although there are a few who seem like they definitely have other things they'd like to be doing with their time. Recently they've been reconfiguring the machines a lot, which is a little annoying as a patron. Over the summer they allow high school students to come and they tend to crowd around machines. This makes for a very difficult workout for me. The air conditioning has been inconsistent this summer. The main room tends to be hot and muggy...eww. I think that this particular location could really use an upgrade in equipment. I recently went to another gym, while I was out of town, the equipment was newer, they had things that this gym doesn't have, and the machine beds were sooooooo much better. Again, the staff is generally lovely & helpful. I just think this location needs an upgrade; especially when I consider the quality of environment that I could get if I just drove a little further away to another location.

I’ve been coming to this location for years and the staff have always been super friendly and helpful. Over this time, I have never seen a sign that cellphone is not allowed in the gym. And then today (8/6/2024 at 12:15) a staff with black shirt (i think he is the manager) came towards me and told me that cellphone is not allowed while work out. I understand that when I occupy the gym’s equipment i better finish my set instead of being on the phone. Of course it’s not only for the purpose of myself (coming here to improve my physical health), but also for the other guests that may be also waiting for that equipment. But at the time there were only 2 persons in the same room with me. 1 on their phone too and the other was using other equipment. The whole gym was not busy at all. I just finished my 30 minutes treadmill so i picked the torso pull down equipment workout for 3 minutes and took a 1 minute break and change my music. He came up and told me phone was not allowed, i was so surprised and embarrassed and disappointed at the same time. I thought i was in a school gym class where phones were prohibited. I stopped my workout and went straight to the counter to cancel my membership right away. I’ve been going to different gyms and none of them prohibit cellphone use except this one. So if you are a person who likes to change music for a better workout like me, please consider other gyms.
I came to the gym to work out and I hate it when i have to wait for others to finish using their phone on the equipment so i can use it too. But coming to your guests and tell them to stop using phones is pretty weird. If you want to prohibit, PUT A SIGN ON ALL THE WALLS.
I could have given a 1 star. But the other staff were friendly and helpful the whole time so i think they deserve a better manager.

I couldn't shower there. It was camp ground type nozzle not even a showeer head. Lowest end shower ever, dirty floor in the shower like showers on jail movies. Tried the handicapped shower and broken. Handle to choose camp ground nozzle or handheld shower head...broken missing handle. Both water comes out at the same time from both. It's like a hose stream coming iut of the wall.

The gym was full of people, the most busy I've ever seen. Waiting for every machine literally taken by someone. I had to leave.

Used to like that this place was near my past job and open 24 hrs .
I went here for over a year .
Suddenly they stopped being open 24 hrs . The equipment and facilities are average but did the job . Nothing remarkable there .
I ended up switching jobs and wanted to switch home gyms . From this location to another planet fitness . I did it before , and it was pretty straight forward.
However , when I tried to switch gyms , Online and in person . This gym will not give me the option to do so . Not even to upgrade .
I called for a week and the front desk staff first told me they had their system down and that IT was to work on it . Should've been fixed the next day . i waited and the same issue persisted. I called again, this time they told me only the manager had access to the system and only she could help me . That they would leave a note for her to call me back that morning . She did not . Called again . Same thing , same answer and no response . Tried two more times and still no word from this manager .
I just ended up canceling my membership before they kept stalling and they charged me again for the monthly fee . Hours and location stopped working, and add the non existent customer support. The bad example the manager sets tells you a lot about a business. Its unfortunate.
My advice , Just take your money and business elsewhere . Especially if you want the flexibility to access 24 hrs and multiple locations. This franchise is falsely advertising these two things at this point .

You know what….I am extremely tired of people who have jobs that require interacting with people and they either completely refuse to interact with people, or they do so in extremely negative or ignorant ways. For example…..I just left the planet fitness here in Fountain Valley. They close at 7 PM. By the way….I signed up for a 24 access gym with access to all of their locations….but now most of them are barely open half that amount. Shouldn’t my membership fees be 50% less? No that’s just crazy lol. Anyway, so 7 o’clock arrives and I take an additional 4-5 minutes getting ready because I had taken a shower. I had to wait a while to get access to it so I took a little longer than I should’ve. The two employees who were there were still doing their side work and we’re not trying to leave the building yet so I wasn’t holding them up at all. Anyway…..when I walked out of the Men’s locker room I see one of the female employees putting away weights and she looks at me. I am immediately make eye contact with her…..smile….and tell her “hey I apologize for taking a little longer, but thank you….I appreciate you being patient”…… and her response was to maintain the emotionless stare at me while I spoke until about halfway through…..at which point she turns her head and turns her body away from me and literally says absolutely nothing. Uhhh ok biatch…..I just wrote it off as maybe she didn’t hear me or is having a bad day. I begin walking towards the exit at the front and the second employee starts running up to the front to unlock the doors to let me out. As I hear him approaching from behind me I turn around make iContact and smile at him. He does not make eye contact with me at all. I also tell him “hey I’m sorry I took a little longer, but I appreciate you being patient thank you very much”. Does anyone wanna guess what his response was? Correctamundo…..He said absolutely nothing and didn’t even make eye contact with me once. Does anyone else find what I described to be seriously agitating and unfortunately more and more common.? These 2 were incredibly adverse to having a normal, competent, or friendly interaction and by doing what they did…..in my opinion…. passive aggressively went out of their way to make me feel unwelcome and unwanted at this business….. and basically told me F U without actually saying it. These 2 employees should’ve had a sign that they wore around their necks that says “does not get along well with others” because that’s exactly the problem I saw. Just in case management reads this and wants to know who these employees were. I’m gonna put the date this happened…..so if by chance they recognize and are not OK with the problem I described maybe they can educate these two idiots. This happened on Saturday, July 29 just after 7 PM closing time…..both of the employees….1 girl and 1 boy didn’t look like they were into working out much….and wore dirty looks like most people wear clothing.

P.S. The men’s locker room in most planet fitness locations is pretty nasty….but this location was seriously disgusting. Shaved body and pubic hair all over the ground in and around the entire shower area. All countertops were not only wet they were absolutely sopping wet with water spilling out all over the ground in these areas making it incredibly slippery. Nasty people with nasty behavior maintaining a nasty planet fitness location. Get rid of these lazy, selfish, ignorant employees.

Any serious person looking for a fitness place should avoid the fountain Valley Planet fitness center! Broken equipment and overcrowded. The place is also under equipped and you’re likely to be lifting a 25lb dumbbell on one side and a 20lb dumbbell on the other side. It’ll take you about an hour to get access to 3 workout equipment if you’re lucky.
Staff are doing their best but the management and owners are making them look like fools!

I am very disappointed with the planet fitness I've been going to here in California. There's supposed to be 24 hours and I like to go to the gym late at night because I work during the day and I'm a night owl. But every time I have gone it's closed and it's very upsetting because why am I paying 20 something dollars if everytime I go to the gym is closed.

It's usually pretty busy, even when the PF app's crowd meter shows only two or three bars... It's a fine facility, with friendly staff. Usually pretty clean. Weights are often left un-racked by discourteous lifters, but overall a fine experience.

Update: In the year that I've been coming here, it's gotten even busier. Unless you can make it at 11:00 on a weekday or wait until after 10:00 pm, it's pretty much impossible to get the equipment you need. I'm gonna start driving 20 min away to a quieter location just to be able to use the equipment I need, which sucks since this location is on my block, which is why I joined PF anyway....... Whack.

Location is sketchy, low class people hanging around the parking lot, I locked my bike at the bike rack and when I came out a vagrant was trying to cut through my bike lock, I’m happy to let you know he painfully met my fist. Obviously the security here is zero. The fitness center itself is okay; my attempted burglary was at 11 am, the bike rack is in a secluded area, Planet Fitness should have a bike rack in front of the facility for their patrons. I wouldn’t recommend visiting this facility after dark. Update 03/08/23; For people who have a job and need to work out and get out, that is what the 30 minute work out is for, instead there is a bunch of lazy Latinos sitting on the machines doing nothing, like watching paint dry, either they can’t read or stupid or both.

I love the hydro massage and tanning beds. Redlight therapy beds as well. Gym membership is well worth it.
