I really love the atmosphere here it’s very calm. Nobody tries to holler at you. It’s very clean.. I said the employees are very nice. Very helpful. Anything that you need? I joined back in 2019, when covid shut down I was bummed out. Came back immediately after restrictions lifted. I can say that the staff is great, knowledgeable, friendly and they care about us. Traveling around the US and have visited 30+ PFs in the past 4 months. Compared to others, this one felt old. Lots of equipment but not much space for stretching or functional exercises. Free weight area was small. Showers were sub-standard. Nice folks, but the facility could use an update.

Aging equipment and faulty treadmills that shift and stutter each time you increase the speed and the stationary bikes need to be the first thing to go they are actually falling apart and pretty much useless. For the love of God change the water filter at least once a year I have been going to location for the whole year after switching from the blackstone location and really regret it. I can taste and smell how bad the water quality is do you know how bad the water has to be for you to smell it? I know the staff sees me giving them dirty looks after sniffing and sipping the water right infront of them. And remember disconnect that fountain from the water heater while your at it. Do you guys need help from corporate? I swear im going to bring a water testing kit one day. Im only giving two stars because I live right across the street and this is convenient I rather go back to walking 4 miles back and fourth to another location if that was feasible.

I don’t like this gym. I was working out on a machine and I had my gym bag on the floor. A lady came up to me who works there and told me i need to put in the lockers or she can call the police and i can deal with them.

After that i told manager on her and she interrupted me and just repeated what had told me earlier. She was rude, not customer service friendly and yelled at me in the middle of a work out.

Also a female personal trainer who was training me for. While. I asked for her number and asked if she wanted to hang out and she said yes and gave me her number.

So I called her later on and she answered and told me she had a boyfriend and im thinking to myself what’s the point of giving me your them. Just a tease.

Gym is always clean. Staff works very hard to keep it that way but I don’t like their customer service. I have more rude customer service experience at this alone but I’m not gong to spend all day writing on this post

For the longest time I thought about getting into the gym and I had excuse after excuse (waiting to find the right trainer, speaking to a dietitian to get exact results, money set aside to meal plan/prep, etc) but I finally bit the bullet and joined in January of this year. I frequent 4-5 times a week and it’s been great! What makes this a positive experience every time is the staff and how supportive they are. Specifically Felicia and Kenny- don’t get me wrong, all the staff are outgoing, friendly, and knowledgeable but Felicia and Kenny are the best; it feels nice to see that not only do they recognize and remember my name and face but that they always genuinely ask how I’m doing and recognizing the effort and work i put into my workouts, even on the days I feel like not getting out of bed and like the workout didn’t go the way I wanted at all. And it’s not a “everyone gets a gold star, good job today” recognition but an honest “hey, we all have those days and I’m proud of you for still coming, still putting in the work because that’s the hardest part, is when it DOESNT go right, you keep moving on” kind.

Though I’m still not where I wanted to be physically, through the staff and the friends I’ve made here, I learned everyone is on their own path and the great thing is, coming here, you know you’re not in it alone. ❤️

Employees are great. And they take clients comments really serious e.g. machines, music, cleaning supplies etc. Other gyms they take forever to fix it. The only down would be during the summer when is full of kids but that's temporary thankfully. That's when equipment and trash is bad.

Poor management, I get a different answer every time I approach the desk for information. No management of the floor and exercise equipment. Speaking of exercise equipment, there is not enough equipment for the amount of members that attend the gym and there is tears in the equipment and when the equipment gets repaired it takes forever for it to be in service again. People stay on machines for 60 minutes with no respect for others. I’m very disappointed.

I really enjoy coming to this gym location, especially when Karen is here. She always warmly greets you when you come in and her bright smile and genuinely friendly attitude makes you feel welcomed. I also notice the paper towels and cleaners are fully stocked, and the machines get wiped down whenever she is on duty. I come to this location to workout on Saturdays, even though another location is walking distance from me, because of how clean and well-maintained the gym and equipment are at this Barstow location. I’ve just started going to the gym again and this planet fitness is my go to. I normally don’t write reviews but I’ve had an amazing experience at this spot specifically. Overall, the facility is fine: has the equipment I need to get a solid workout. Bathroom is a basic clean bathroom. Front desk consistently greets me. The manager- Felicia -is literally always welcoming and makes me laugh. Worth it, imo.

I first came to this location as a guest member and was immediately greeted with warmth. I spoke with a few of the members at East Barstow, and they were incredibly kind — that hospitality really motivated me to keep coming back. In a way, I began to build a presence here, and the more I returned, the more my routine began to solidify. It was a beautiful feeling.

Unfortunately, I had to stop coming because I was attending as a guest under someone’s Black Card membership, and guests aren’t allowed to enter alone. My sponsor became very busy, and though I understood the policy, being turned away at the door when I showed up alone did feel disheartening.

Still, I chose to come back — not just for the quality equipment and training space, but also because of the good people I met here. And I’m glad I did. I just signed up on my own, and I’m now on my third day back. It feels great.

As I write this, I’m in the massage chair, winding down after a workout — and I truly feel like I’ve returned to a place that supports my goals. If you’re considering joining, this is an amazing location to get your workouts in, be welcomed, and build something consistent.

I joined this club because it was close to another club in the area, but changed my mind.
Signing up was just a few clicks on the keyboard. Canceling is a nightmare. Regardless of what they tell you, they will continue to charge your account, but it won’t be regularly. My advice is to go somewhere else or don’t workout. While trying to get this resolved, I dealt with two people at the Barstow location, including a manager. Both people hung up on me. This is not acceptable. They believe that their policies override the law. The cancelation policy seems to probably be nationwide but the rude service I can only attribute to the Barstow location in Fresno.

I appreciate the wide variety of equipment, but when things break they’re not always repaired in a timely manner and that makes it difficult since there aren’t multiples of every machine.

Along a similar vein, I recently went to the front desk to let the staff member know there was an elliptical with a loose pedal. I’d left my things there so we could go back to it, assuming an Out of Order sign would be placed immediately. Instead the response was, “I think I know which one you’re talking about. We’ll get it taken care of.” No sign was placed before I left that morning - and I don’t think I’m wrong in thinking that is a safety hazard for gym members that should be handled immediately.

One thing I absolutely hate is the inconsistency with regard to the music played in the gym and the volume at which it’s played. I use earbuds - as I’m sure most members do - and most mornings when I arrive it’s at a reasonable volume, meaning I can put my earbuds in and listen to what I want to listen to. But there are a lot of mornings - like today - when there is a shift change at 4am and the guy who comes in not only changes the music, but turns it up so loud that I can hear every single note and lyric on top of whatever I’m listening to. That’s completely unnecessary and really annoying. I expect music to be played in the gym at a moderate level but it’s super inconsistent at this location.

Great place to work out. The only thing that I recommend is that if you plan to shower there, bring either a pair of non slip flip flops or an extra towel because there are no non slip rubber pads and the floor is very slippery from the water that escapes from the shower. Subject: Unprofessional Behavior and Inconsistencies at Reception

To whom this may concern,

I would like to bring to your attention an incident that occurred during my visit to your Barstow facility. Please review the the footage on March 18, 2025 between 5:50 pm and 6:13 pm. I went back to the receptionist to ask for her name, and she identified herself as Emily. However, I cannot be completely certain if that is indeed her name, as she was not wearing a name tag.

I left the facility at 6:13 p.m. with my son, but I wanted to address some concerning behaviors that occurred during my visit. The receptionist was not only rude but also exhibited strange and unprofessional behavior, which was directed solely at me. It was apparent that she treated no one else in such a manner. In addition, there was a lack of consistency in how she handled other members, as I observed her talking and socializing with colleagues during work hours, which was unprofessional and distracting.

Due to the uncomfortable situation, I decided not to work out. I had dressed in a relaxed manner and brought my backpack with me, containing my school supplies and workout attire. Despite this, the receptionist made me feel as though I needed to justify my presence or provide some sort of explanation to enter the facility. This created an awkward and unnecessary situation. Her behavior appeared to stem from personal issues, and it was evident that she was taking those frustrations out on me. I’ve worked in customer service for over 20 years, and it was clear that she was unfit for this role, as she lacked the basic professionalism and respect required to handle such interactions.

In all fairness, if it had been anyone else in my position, they may have reacted much more harshly. However, I chose to remain calm and polite, as I found the situation absurd. Planet Fitness should be a place where everyone feels welcomed, but instead, this individual's negative and disproportionate actions created a very uncomfortable atmosphere.

Additionally, I would like to point out that this location is inconsistent in its enforcement of policies. On multiple occasions, I have witnessed other members entering the facility wearing Crocs or inappropriate attire without issue. Yet, I felt unfairly targeted in this instance, which is simply unacceptable. To make matters worse, the receptionist physically held on to the scanner, further delaying my entry into the gym.

I trust you will address this matter appropriately to ensure that all members are treated with respect and that future incidents like this do not occur.

I mentioned the absolutely horrendous moldy shower curtains to someone at the desk and she said she just noticed that too and ordered some today… yea right. There were bugs crawling on the curtains and flying around. Truly disgraceful.

Staff need to be trained on how to be courteous of the members they only greet who they like and when I walk in to scan my card they all turn around as if I don’t exist and start laughing then they all huddle up and talk about members as I’ve witnessed this first hand because I could be running on the treadmill and suddenly turn around they’re all looking at me and laughing instead of walking around and cleaning equipment I feel the club manager isn’t either doing their job or whoever owns this gym is just about money instead of improving their staff to support what’s mostly important the members. Please take into consideration and improve your staff there are all kinda trainings online to help improve something that will benefit this club in the future.

Update : thanks for replying back with your direction and feedback however I will not be talking with management regarding how this establishment is being run that’s not my place to teach your business on conduct I will most definitely keep this planet in mind with my experience here next time when doing business such as our yearly wellness fairs at 1 of the largest companies ran in Fresno. Again thanks for letting me share my experience here in your business and I will most definitely be taking my business to another establishment where I feel welcomed and respected as I do to others.

It's 1/20/25, Monday @ 5:30 am. Building is dark and closed with no signs or notices that it wouldn't be open. Wish there could have been an update about the hours today, but there's a bunch of guests waiting in their cars, with no one to let them in.

I've been going a couple of years. It's got some free weights, but more weight machines and cardio. Great for my personal needs. The bathroom and locker room are maintained. The employees have been nice, and I haven't felt uncomfortable working out 👍

Rose and Vanessa are very friendly when you enter the gym it makes you feel very welcomed. They make a great duo when they're working together. The machines are nice locker room and restrooms are clean. I have had no issues in the 6+ months that i have been attending the Barstow planet fitness.

Great gym and the employees are super nice and cool especially Noel he’s great to get along with and he makes good relationships with the people attending the gym it’s people like that, that keep me going. The gym is really nice and clean and the space in general is just really comfortable.

I love Planet Fitness for being a full experience gym. One huge advantage to Planet Fitness is its over 2,000 locations nationwide so when traveling one can use a different city’s location for up to. 20 visits in a month. Wow! Amazing amenities included yet not limited to:

2. Clean showers and restrooms with private changing rooms,

My experience here was amazing , all the massage machines and extras were all cleaned. The workers are really nice and uplifting. Ricardo was the best , he was very helpful , he helped me and my friend figure out how to use the machines and he was overall amazing !!

It’s been a couple of months now since I joined and I’m really enjoying being a member at this location. I go super early in the morning and am always greeted by John’s smiling face - he’s super friendly, helpful when other members or I need it, and always busying himself with tasks to make the gym look nice. There is a great variety of equipment, which I appreciate - I have lots of options for adding variety for my workout - and it’s always clean and well-maintained.

I was always ashamed to go to a gym because I was afraid people would judge me due to my weight. However Planet Fitness is truly a judgement free zone! The place is always clean (thanks John for doing so well in the mornings with the cleaning!) and the staff is always friendly. Ricardo always helps me with the thousands of questions I have and he always answers them with a smile. Thank you PF crew!

Update 9/20/24:
Water in the fountain is still warm (has been at least since 8/19/24) and tastes like there is no filter. Also one of the push bars on it is broken and you can see the guts.

No barbells, only Smith machine.
Non of the machines or racks are screwed to the floor…

Otherwise clean and staff is nice.

I come in every morning about 4 am to 4:30 am and the place is clean and organized John is friendly and always welcoming. He keeps the place clean. I always walk into the place greeted and with a friendly conversation. Never been to a gym before feeling so welcomed. Thank you John, for making me feel welcomed!

About 5 years ago the staff attendant who was African American decided to take a peek through the cracks in the restroom stall while I was using the bathroom sitting on the toilet ignored it when I finished my work out I heard him making fun of me to his co workers in the front talking about my privates and Jesus Christ what's wrong with them hiring that guy

I love it here. This location has the most up to date equipment, massage beds and massage chairs! Such a clean and welcoming environment. I now drive the little extra way now just to experience the better atmosphere than any other one in Fresno. This planet fitness location is HUGE and full of multiple of every machine and weight range as well.
