I canceled my membership, but I was charged my annual $39 membership wrongfully, so I talked to Tyler the manager and he assured me that I was going to get a refund for the $39. It has been around 2 months now. Tyler gave me the number and email to Ruby Islas who is his boss, so I reached out to her but she doesn't have the decency to answer my emails or calls. I believe she wants to keep my annual fee and I feel I have been ripped off.

Wow this gyms hygiene and sanitation has really gone down hill … left out of the city for a month and came back to whole new set up with dirty equipment . Really want to mention how filthy the bathrooms have gotten . The drains stink in the showers, there are shower heads missing and water damage/mold concerns in the shower stalls above your head . The stalls, urinals and showers are not maintained daily or in a timely fashion . I will say all the staff members are very friendly but that’s really all..

I love this PF, the staff there are the best in class. Very nice gym with all you need to stay in shape or build yourself up. Very affordable compared to its competitors. Busiest times are usually 6-7:30 pm weekly. Mornings are a bit slower but dont have to wait long for machines. Im down with PF for life 💪 ✨️ 🙌

During my recent business trip to the area, I was on the lookout for a great workout spot, and I could not have been more pleased with my experience at this gym. I visited on both days of my stay, and to my delight, the atmosphere was refreshingly serene—exactly what I needed! I truly prefer exercising in a less crowded environment, as it allows me to utilize any machine I want without the hassle of waiting. This gym provided the perfect setting for an effective and enjoyable workout, making it a standout option in the area!
I initially drove to the 24 Hour Fitness on La Paz and Aliso on a Saturday just past noon, but I quickly walked out when I saw the chaos—it was packed, and all the cardio machines were taken! Thankfully, I made my way to this gym instead, and the vibe was so much better.
This location spans two stories, with the top floor dedicated entirely to cardio equipment. One thing to note is that it can get a bit warm up there since heat rises; I hope they consider cranking up the A/C in the summer. Overall, this gym truly exceeded my expectations, and I look forward to returning!

I have been training for over 5 years, I have been in many gyms and the most important thing for me is the cleanliness of the gym and the training machines. As someone who has been around gyms since I was a kid and have been part of everything from a personal training studio, HIIT, combat sports/martial arts, 24 hour fitness, my own garage and have trained throughout CA, HI and Japan there has always been a bad connotation about Planet Fitness. I joined this place a month ago due to a gnarly injury and needing some more machines and equipment to help me out...and well, the "connotation" is completely FALSE and this gym is exactly what it is supposed to be. A SOLID GYM. SOLID FOLKS. SOLID COMMUNITY (yes, I even made some friends in here). I'm NOW a fan of Planet Fitness and thankful for this gym! I can always get the machine I want at this Gym... way less crowded than other major chains... defecting from 24 hour. The machines here also are very interesting as they mostly do not have a solid bar between left and right hands. IE if you push only with the left hand only that side goes, meaning the little helper and balance muscles get involved to make both hands push evenly. Due to that I really had to step down in my weight I'm pushing and get used to these machines... which I love. They are closer to free weights than the machines where you could push on one side and the other side would go up as well. Does that make sense? I used to do only free weights but now that I've turned 65 I prefer machines.

I go to the location in Laguna Niguel at 5am on select weekdays. Been going for about a year now so I have a feel for the facility and usual people. Overall it’s a great place, although it has its limitations depending on your needs.

PROs — Meticulously clean at all times, great staff, very modern facilities and equipment, very cheap ($10/month), not a ton of people regardless of the time of day.

CONs — Wish it opened earlier than 5am, amenities are limited, “black club” features are lackluster, no barbell-style equipment, weights don’t get very high versus other gyms.

Overall it’s great for beginners, older folks, and those wanting a little of everything. Not really recommended for competitive fitness training or those looking for advanced-asset facilities (tires, bars, etc). Would be better if it had a sauna or steam room, opened earlier and closed later, and maybe the “black list” benefits were more than tanning and massage chairs. But as said before it’s only $10/month and much cleaner and more modern than most places, so hard to argue.

Definitely recommend it if you are close to one. I’ve been a gym rat for almost 25 years.

This location is clean and calm. The members are lowkey and focused on their own workouts. I never have to wait for cardio equipment.

The 30-minute classes are great. The trainer teaches at your level with just a bit of push and lots of encouragement. My favorite pieces of equipment are the battle ropes and hand over hand rope pull.

If you have the fancy membership, you can finish with a chair massage.

Planet fitness gym in Laguna Niguel has a ton of parking which is a great feature because other gyms around the area like 24 hour fitness is always packed. The gym has a variety of machines and free weight dumbbells. This location also has a second floor, which is dedicated to cardio equipment like treadmills etc.

Similar to other locations, the staff is very friendly and the facility is always clean. Even during the busiest times, I don’t find that I have to wait to workout or share machines.

The tanning is also kept very clean if you choose to do that.

For the price is really good. The only suggested change would be if the gym’s hours could be extended later or even be 24 hours.

This place needs some new equipment. They have too many of the same machines. They also don’t have the machines I prefer to use at all the other PF gyms. It’s a 2 story gym and the second story is just more treadmills. There is a lot of bad reviews on customer service here and how the manger has horrible customer service too which throws me off. The staff were super friendly when I went the other night but I was only there the last 30 mins before closing time. This location is closer to me than the Lake Forest location so I wanted to try it out and now I know not to come back. Get some new equipment and take some of the repeats out and it would make the biggest difference.

Tyler, the manager, is a liar and really rude, demeaning and disrespectful. He claimed that someone talked to him about me dropping a weight, but no one went up to him. I was on a machine by the entrance and would’ve seen if someone did. He CUSSED me out and claimed someone else talked to him about my conduct on a day I wasn’t even there in the gym. On top of that, for a dude who claims to be all about following the rules, he let a 6’4 white guy wearing a stringer (not allowed according to the guidelines) into the gym. He was also slamming and dropping his weights (which doesn’t bother me but does go against the rules), but Tyler did nothing. Why does Tyler allow this white guy to wear attire not allowed in the gym and slam his weights while I accidentally slip off a machine once and I get cussed out? I don’t know other than discrimination. It’s also worth noting that I’ve been to several other Planet Fitness locations multiple times and have never had any issues.

Pretty solid spot! I love most of the employees.

My only complaint: one time I went in for only a shower and the door was locked, but a lady opened it for me. She said she didn’t know why the manager made her lock up early that day. There was 10-15min left to close and that almost made me rage. It’s the only shower access I have in that area and I pay too much every month to be locked out of somewhere just because 1 manager doesn’t know what time it is.

Require bank account auto draft (yes their employees can steal all your funds out of your account with ACH), can’t add anyone to your plan, lost my membership and took 45 minutes to find it, refuse to cancel over the phone, make you waste more time driving to their location. I belong to 24 hr fitness and have been a member for over 25 years. However for the last few years I've noted a steady decline in cleanliness, product availability like hand soap, paper towels and disinfectant to clean the machine before and after use as well as the lack of available machines to work out on. However I just joined Planet Fitness and am very pleased with the cleanliness of the facility as well as the many machines both cardio and strength increasing at the facility. I will continue using 24 hr fitness for cardio because they are close to me but when doing strength increasing exercises I will drive the extra 3 miles to the Planet Fitness at Crown Valley and Alicia Pkwy in Laguna Niguel.
