Management is firm but awesome, They're very friendly in the AM and keep it generally clean. However I will say there has been a noticeable decrease in quality of guests at this location. You could come in at 6am do your thing no problem and leave. If you come in at 5:59am there's people hogging the machines with their belongings while on their phones anyway. So called "Trainers" teaching people how to handstand and back flip. Feels like you have to show up at opening to get your proper workout in, if not good luck. Maybe opening a different location would help.

The gym itself is not that bad. It’s a newer location. But here’s the bad. The bathrooms are ALWAYS filthy and smell. Employees are always standing around the front twirling their thumbs and joking amongst each but never cleaning or doing anything else. I’ve seen one of those employees actually go into the bathroom with a rag and bottle, but literally put the bottle down on the sink and walked around for a min and walked out. Didn’t do a single thing. Management is not existent here and it shows. Management should inspect more often and do your job, MANAGE!!
Floors are hardly ever cleaned, machined never wiped down etc.

I’ve been working out at Planet Fitness for a while now, and I have to say this location is one of the cleanest and most well-organized gyms I’ve ever seen. The equipment is always wiped down, the locker rooms are spotless, and everything feels professional and welcoming. The staff here deserve a lot of credit — they are friendly, respectful, and always ready to help with a great attitude.

I’d like to kindly suggest to the management team to consider adding a Prone Leg Curl machine (also known as Lying Leg Curl) to the gym. This machine is highly beneficial for strengthening the hamstrings, which play a crucial role in supporting knee and hip stability. Strong hamstrings reduce the load on the lower back, improving overall balance and helping prevent strain and pain — especially for those dealing with chronic back issues like myself.

Not only does this equipment help reduce compensatory stress on the lower back, but it also contributes to better lower body stability, which can lower the risk of injury. Of course, proper form and core engagement are key when using this machine, but its benefits for back health and injury prevention are well-known among fitness and medical professionals.

I believe adding a Prone Leg Curl machine would make the facility even more complete and support members in building strength safely — especially for those of us focused on rehabilitation or preventing lower back pain.

The monthly charge is franchise based so you need to pay $5 if you visit another gym (unless you have premium black card membership), but I'm so grateful to have this gym to work out at.

The way Planet Fitness Eltoro operates is crooked. Beware🚨 they can change the policy at any given time and they have taken away privileges from members such as myself as to allowing my guest to use black card membership. Mind you for almost two years I was able to use it now this year they tell me my guest can't use it anymore and when I signed up they said there will be no problem for him to come use all the amenities with me. I don't even get to go often since I've been injured for 9 months paying all the fees and the moment I come in with my friend who is handicapped they deny him. I tried to explain the situation to the manager and she went ballistic and threatened to cancel ❌ my membership and call the cops for no good reason other than she didn't like the tone of my voice. I was upset but did not raise my voice. In the end she let my friend go but she said this is the last time. I told her as soon as my membership is up I'm out anyway. I do not recommend planet fitness Eltoro. Awful rude management with no empathy crooked trying to get more money out of you when that was not the deal in the first place. 👎

Update: I forgot to mention a team manager named James has a huge ego and has made me wait for a hydro massage even when there is a bed open.

One of the largest P.F. locations I've been to. It was clean and cool and not swelteringly hot like most of the L.A. locations seem to be. The clientele also seemed to be better than they are at most SoCal locations.

Staff was friendly and none of the equipment was broken. Weights were put away where they were supposed to be.

If I had to give any critiques, there were only 4 Smith machines on site, which is not enough considering they're used for a ton of different exercises. And the free weight area should be a bit larger given the size of the gym.

Still though, it was a good experience and I can't really complain, hence the 5 stars. I would definitely come back here if I am in the area again.

Thanks to the staff for addressing inappropriate cell phone use at the gym. I love this gym, but lately it’s been annoying. I understand emergency situation happens and you need to talk on the phone, but when a patron becomes incessantly on the phone having an angry, loud, full blown conversation with slander that becomes inconsiderate to other patrons. I had my head phone on and her conversation can still
penetrate. Had to go to another gym to avoid. Appreciate the staff for handling and addressing the issue with the patron. Hope to be back to my home gym.

Today, I didn’t have enough to get back to my Planet fitness home gym. The nearest PF was down in El Toro. When I got there, I scanned my code to get in, but the guy asked me to pay $5 because it was not my gym home. I said Man, I have your gym membership, but that would be the only day I hit this branch because I have no time to get back to the Foothill Ranch PF, he said there’s no way to let you in. Absolutely love this gym. I’ve been trying to find one to replace my old planet fitness in Costa Mesa since moving to Mission Viejo and I absolutely love this one. Staff is friendly, helpful and professional. It’s the cleanest gym I have ever been to. The equipment looks new and is well maintained. The layout is spacious and well organized. Went to this gym for two years, 6 days a week. If you’re a women think twice, because I was verbally harassed by a man twice my age and management couldn’t do anything about it- I requested for the member to be removed & I was told they couldn’t do anything about it because I wasn’t physically harassed. Even though it says visual/ verbal /physical harassment isn’t allowed at PF on their website. If you want any accountability this isn’t the place- Planet fitness is franchised which in turns seems to mean they do whatever they want and don’t have to answer to anyone. I’m so disappointed. -10/10. Horrible.

It’s a good facility gym, but the customer service is trash in this place unfortunately. They charged me $105 claimed it was a late fee after paying all my fees as usual and I even made Brandon show me on the computer the history charges and it was all correct, and the manager Alex said he was going to refund it and only gave me back $30. In 4 months they charged me $315 in total which is insane. Honestly terrible management service.

They get a five-star just for that.
For someone that is just starting to work out or does not require a lot of free weights, this is a great gym. There is so much cardio equipment! There are also machines, a stretching room, and a full body machine workout area.
Bathrooms are super clean.
Not a lot of free weights so for me this was not a good spot. Also the benches are not bolted down so they started sliding when I was doing my free weights and pushing against it. I don't know why they wouldn't be bolted down, and they do it everywhere else and it's kind of unsafe not to.
They have an incredible lounge area with massage chairs, infrared booth, and tanning booths.
Definitely a great deal for 25 bucks a month. Tanning salon itself would be worth it.
In short, this is a great gym for somebody that is a novice or medium level workout enthusiast, but not so much for someone that is demanding more free weights and higher level workouts.

This location is great! It's a new facility with plenty of nice machines (most track your reps/time). The staff is really friendly and very helpful! I definitely feel more comfortable at this gym than other chains I've gone to before. The people that go seem to be respectful and I don't feel any bad vibes. To be fair I mostly go in the early mornings so I can't speak to the busiest times. My only critique would be that it seems understaffed sometimes so maybe the company should work on employee retention.

The men's bathroom was really dirty. The management & staff were rude to me and my friend. They stated I could use the hydro massage and then said I couldn't them my friend had to talk to the manager. Planet Fitness Lake Forest
I was a member of this gym for about 6 months. I noticed a few months in that I was being overcharged ($40.03) each month when my membership rate for the PF Black Card Plus membership is only $24.99.

I contacted PF support and they let me know they cannot help because it is a franchised business. I emailed the specific gym and could not cancel online or get refunds because I’d need to sign in person.

I went in to the gym today and showed the staff member my recurring $40.03 charges and my membership page in my app showing that I should be paying $24.99. He let me know that this happens because when initially entering my payment information, some typo or error occurred and the system went ahead and charged my backup payment along with a late fee.
There was no email to let me know that my backup payment was being used, nor that there was a late fee being assessed.
The staff member confirmed that it happens all the time and gym members don’t get notified about this issue but need to go to the front desk at the gym when they see that they’ve been overcharged to get their payment corrected.
I kindly asked if there was anything I could do to get a partial refund and he said no.

It’s a bad customer experience so I wanted to let others know to keep an eye out and go to the front desk right away if the payments are off. Don’t bother with PF Corp.

For the others like me who enjoy our early workouts, have been notified that the Monday through Friday hours are changing from 24 hours to 5am. This makes Planet Fitness just like the other gyms. Reason not a 5 star is the change of time. We joined awhile back not just because of the great price and convenience, but mainly because it was 24hrs. And it got us motivated to work out early in the morning. Once it changed we just really don't go. Geting up by 4am to work out before going to work at 530 was so energizing and had us in a great mood as we started our day.If only you change the weekday mornings to 4am instead of 5am you would have one happy customer ,if not more because there was always people there at that time.. just one hour change PLEASE! 🙏

There's nothing wrong with this location. The actual location is wonderful. Lots of stores and other businesses in and around the shopping center. It's a tad smaller than I'd like. I usually go to a PF where the weight room is separate from the Treadmills, etc. That's the only downside. It's clean and well stocked. I'll be there often enough.
