I love the vibe of attending this gym that’s closest home but unfortunately the gym equipment needs updating. The treadmills are constantly out of order or parts are broken on them or they feel like they are going to breakdown while using them. I wish they had updated and newer equipment and more lifting equipment choices like other PF. I’ve been to several PF in the area and out of state and in comparison unfortunately this location in particular is not updated. Hopefully soon we can get updated and newer equipment

I wasn’t going to write anything. But now I feel compelled because I hadn’t got to workout today. As you can see in the comments, this specific location has a ton of issues with broken or missing equipment, which causes you to either walk out because you only get half of a workout done or because you are ultimately disappointed. I’ve been coming to this location for almost a year to lift weights and use various machines and always run into issues. Today was different, as I got tired of the neck pain I was experiencing by having NO bar cushion, I purchased my own and brought it in 4 times until today and they tell me outside equipment is not allowed and they can’t help if people steal equipment .. they also said that they have people walk around to monitor how the equipment is being used and NO ONE told me to take my cushion down and I stayed at the gym for three hours. They also are no specific about the type of equipment that is not allowed. Especially if it’s not being supplied. If they had them, I wouldn’t have gone out and bought my own. Also the bar cushion they had before was broken for the longest time and was never replaced, I used it before and it slipped off the bar and hit my neck .. I’ll be canceling as soon as I can.

The last issue I have is that they state that their “ policy “ is that no phone calls can be taken on the gym floor but in the lobby . Well they showed me the policy and all it says is to kindly take your phone calls into the lobby. They also said that there are signs around the gym that state the same and also in the locker room. There are no signs in the lover room and barely anything on the floor saying anything about phone calls . I had JUST taken a call with my children’s school and on top of that the staff followed me back to my machine because I was still talking to my children’s school. .. then change the rules about whether or not outside equipment is allowed. DO NOT BRING YOUR SERVICES HERE. It’s not worth the frustration. I spoke to the manger Xilo who stated that it was ok that staff followed me around and that planet fitness is not liable for an injuries due to lack of protective equipment for the machines. I’ll be contacting corporate as well on this issue. Copy of the policy given is below. If you don’t want staff member invading your privacy and broken machines and lack of equipment, go to a different gym ! I’d be happy to speak with someone higher

For now I am giving the gym a three star review because there is room for improvement. It is a great gym the issue is that they allow all of these teenagers to sit on the machines forever on their phones not working out. And they all have attitudes. I was on the treadmill for 30 minutes then tried to lift weights and couldn’t because they were on all the machines on the phone. I’m there to get in shape and to work out and. Better my health and life not watch people scroll on their phones rather than working out. Need to do better with policing these issues.

The manager at this location lets men harass woman at this location and she even encourages it. If your a woman and man sits on a machine before you and he happens to get up to get water or go to bathroom or for any reason once the man comes back u better get up and be nice about it or she will cancel your membership.it used to be so clean and machines used to be fixed right away. Great gym, very clean, machines are only down for a day or two at a time. Minus one star because although they aren’t in control of the free summer teens thing, they need to step in and educate the kids on proper machine use and wiping down equipment when done instead of letting them roam wild. It creates long waiting times for machines. Amazing place! I would like to recognize Hope the assistant manager for always being so friendly and attentive. I always see her taking time to make an impact with the members, especially us old folks who may need some extra attention from time to time. As an old guy, Planet Fitness has everything I need to get a good workout and recovery. The Orangeburg facility is clean and the equipment functional. I’ve been a member of Planet Fitness Orangeburg ever since they took over that location that was formerly Gottchalks.
When they first was around, the staff was pretty friendly. Greeted you when checked in. The time when they had pizza and bagel days. And the front door was one you had to open manually.

Not sure about these new batch of PF employees but they seem to have no customer skills and not only do they not greet people. When leaving, I’ve waved to the staff with them not even acknowledging it. It’s definitely been an ongoing thing and had planned to email PF customer service but their website doesn’t have one that I can see.
I came across the Planet Fitness 10/5 rule that states: Intentionally acknowledge anyone within 5 feet whether they're coming in/leaving the Club, out on the floor, or up at the Front Desk.
Clearly when I see this policy, they need to retrain the staff (both men and women employees) since they act stuck up and arrogant and would rather talk to their fellow employees than even do the 10/5 rule.
2 stars for hiring Generation Alpha with no customer service skill. Hope the GM of PF will read my reply.

Started working out yesterday at PF. We have the Black Card, so we have access to the massage chair, hydro lounge massager, tanning rooms, and red light treatment room. I've done the massage chair and hydro 2 days in a row. The hydro lounge is pure heaven. Laying on this lounge and push start, you feel warm water massaging you from your calves to your neck and head. The massage chair is a deep tissue massage. Guess you could say it hurts so good. Almost fell asleep on the hydro bed.

Modesto East PF is still having issues with the massage chairs and hydro beds. Tonight, only 1 of 2 hydro beds was working. A couple of weeks ago, the deep tissue massage chairs had to be manually activated and only worked for 5 minutes.

Last night, 1 massage chair was working. Both hydro beds were working and felt great. I'm looking forward to seeing cryo beds here. They have them in Turlock and at the new PF in northwest Modesto across from Costco off of the 99.

Went to PF East today and worked out. Post workout only 1 hydro bed available. The other bed is still down. Wish they would replace it with a cryo bed.

We've been members for almost 2 years now. And the hydro beds are always broken and the chairs are in disrepair. If it weren't for being able to use their gym and other cities when I travel. I would choose In-Shape health clubs
We joined with the black card membership July of last year. And noticed that almost every time we go in the massage water tables are down, and most of the time even the chairs are down only option is to go to another location in the same town only to find out that their machinery are broken too. Tried the one day free trial membership. Would consider the $10 a month with a dollar down and $39 a year fee. But I noticed a lot of people just sitting on the equipment with their phones so you could use the equipment until they move. Seems like more of a hangout spot for people who wanted to just say they went to the gym and do Instagram or tick tock videos of themselves. Also while my wife and I were in the 29 minute circuit area the rap music they were playing did have cuss words in it, so I would not advise bringing kids or people who just don't want to hear foul language like we don't. Still might consider joining but definitely not at the annual contract. The only difference is that I can find of any value for the larger long-term contract is a tanning bed and massage chairs. You're not allowed to see any of this in action if you don't join. Was told by one of the female staff members that they do not let you look at them or work on them unless you do the annual contract. She said that she guaranteed I would like it. When I asked what type of guarantee she says I don't know but you can get your money back if you pay $50 to get out of your contract. I think the day pass should allow you to at least try the equipment before committing to an annual contract. Also since I gave them my email they were promoting shirt sales for some sort of show your support for a particular group that has nothing to do with working out. When I want to go to a gym I want to work out not support some political group or wait for some kid to finish their Instagram post. Just wondering who they're taking pictures of.. 🤔.
Since we live in riverbank this is their closest location. Still on the fence of whether joining them or another gym in riverbank or In-Shape. Especially since they're both running specials on memberships
Update. Working-out now on their black card plan. Although the machines don't work very well for the massage chairs there upgraded tend to be a little rough not like the old ones they had or professional ones when you go to a chiropractor's office. Or even the ones at Costco. The massage tables with the water pressure or always down and not working on the Orangeburg and Oakdale location. Run across country and they were nice.

Staff tries to enforce mask wearing during cardio training. Highly unhealthy and extremely ignorant. Glad I do not comply.
You are not required to follow a mandate. Especially if it places your members at risk. Your staff member absolutely agreed with me about the health risk of doing a cardio workout with a mask on. Sadly, your company placed him in a situation where he fears losing his job over doing what is right. Restrooms are extremely dirty, and one sink has been out of order for weeks.
Restrooms continue to be dirty and a hand dryer is still out of order.

I was kind of leery at first about joining a gym. Wasn't sure how comfortable I would feel. But the staff here is amazing and makes you feel so welcome. I came in about 8 months ago just check to check it out to get the atmosphere feeling and wasn't too impressed. I was told by a friend to go check it out again about 3 months ago, and what a difference, everyone is so friendly and it was a totally different vibe there. The layout, the cleanliness, and overall atmosphere, what an improvement! So glad I gave it another chance!

I've been a member of In shape for years, I usually go to the one across town. Recently I started coming to this location and I LOVE it! Definitely my favorite location by far. Nice and consistently clean welcoming staff, just all around good vibes...keep up the good work

Based on recent reviews I wasn't sure what to expect at this location as it's been a while since I've been there. The staff couldn't be nicer! The blonde person working the counter, think her name was Julie? went above and beyond to answer any questions I may of had about the latest upgrades to the workout equipments as I had noticed that the treadmills were a different brand from the previous time I had attended. She was very gracious and patient with me as I asked her every question in the book about Planet Fitness. Will definitely come back again. It starts from the top so I really appreciate management hiring excellent staff members that really care about the work they do.

My dad went in to open a membership and try try and get a tour before he makes a decision to join & the front desk blonde girl was rude. She ignored his presence and went on the computer, didn’t even try to figure out what he needed. As being the greeter I feel like people should always feels welcomed specially if they are new to the place.

Such an amazing gym. The staff are all friendly and helpful. They were able to answer questions I had about a few machines which helped with my workout. And the club manager Ana was extremely helpful when helping fix my account

I’ve been to several gym through out my lifetime and even Planet Fitness gym at that.. this one has to be one of the worst. Their equipment gets broken all the time and takes weeks to months on end to fix. Their staff is never helpful or very friendly. They get bothered when you ask for help in something and every time I’ve gone and done with my workout I’ll waive goodbye and they will just give me an unfriendly gaze. I and other members have had our stuff (keys and wallets) stolen here and the staff does nothing but refuse to help in anyway unless you have a police officer come in with a report to look at the cameras. This place needs to be better maintained and staffed with people who are better customer service oriented.

Great gym i really enjoy it,wish this gym was bigger though just to be able to get on more machines since it does get pretty busy. But other than that it's great place I believe one of the employees name Giselle not sure if I got it right but usually she's cleaning the ladies locker in the mornings and I notice she actually does a great job and makes sure everything is wiped down clean. She's also very friendly and respectful! I'm happy to see that there's workers that take time to deep clean everything! It shows they care about their job!

The one on Orangeburg has a broken leg press, bicep machine & tricep pull down machine in the 30 min room. Please consider helping them out to fix it. Other than that it's ok to work out at. The new f360 equipt. is nice. Also pls get a thigh machine.

I went to this location to register and sign up, but they started asking for bank account information and then a secondary account mainly a credit card as a back up. Basically, you have to give all your financial information to the gym. Don’t waste your time with this nonsense. There are better options anyways

PF team, can we please get a policy for the massage chairs that it must be long sleeves. People in short sleeve shorts and shorts profusely sweating is abhorrent and disgusting. Update: their indoor air is stuffy in the middle of winter, their bathrooms are dirty and their handsoap is often empty. Their employees disconnect rockBot and play their own music which is usually inappropriate rap

FYI! Even though the website says it does and you are able to schedule classes online...THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY TRAINERS HERE! Total false advertising and super disappointing! What a joke and false advertisement!
Also, because they are set to my home gym, I'm unable to register for classes at other gyms! Your App sucks! Why oh why did I switch from my other gym?! Useless waste of time and money.

Went to this location when the Planet Fitness on Briggsmore was being remodeled. I usually carry a small pouch big enough to carry just my phone and keys. Had a "team member" come up to me and said I couldn't have "backpacks" on the floor! Dude, this thing literally fits on my wrist, and you're trying to claim it's a backpack??? I pointed this fact out to him and he still insisted that I had to put it back in the locker room! NEVER, NEVER, NEVER had I had an actual employee be so rude, ridiculous, and disrespectful!!! Might I add I have always carried this very same pouch BEFORE and AFTER to VARIOUS Planet Fitness locations and have NEVER had a problem! Shame on you Orangeburg Planet Fitness!! Needless to say, that was the last time I came to this joke of a gym!!

I like coming here because it generally isn’t too busy and there is a decent selection of equipment. Although I’ve noticed this swamp cooler looks pretty nasty, I mean, we breathe some of the air that comes from this thing and the filters look like they’ve NEVER been changed. Been going to this one for a year and a half now, worse one around. When ever a machine goes down, it'll be aLONG time before they fix it, if at all. A couple machines they just rid of period. Absolutely ridiculous they taken so long, and they they constantly break down. The bathrooms are always dirty, smell, sinks are down, and one of the hand dryers are always down. And lastly, the WiFi has been " down for awhile now".....months. down? Probably haven't paid , or want to pay the bill, or just cancelled internet.
