Gym is no longer 24 hours as originally advertised. Late hours are the only times that fit my schedule and what I signed up for. If you enjoy coming to the gym in the evenings, look elsewhere. They now close 9pm 3 days a week.

Gym has also added random “cleaning & upgrade hours” on top of the new schedule without enough advance notice or updates on app or online. Will be canceling my membership after this month.

I’ve been coming to Planet Fitness Oakland for a while and really appreciate the convenience and atmosphere. However, I was disappointed to see that starting October 3rd, the gym will no longer be open 24/7, except Tuesday through Thursday.

For many of us who work irregular schedules, late-night or very early morning workouts are the only realistic option. Having 24-hour access every day of the week was one of the main reasons I joined Planet Fitness in the first place—it made the membership truly flexible and accessible for everyone, no matter their schedule.

I hope management will reconsider and bring back 24-hour access throughout the entire week. It’s one of the things that makes Planet Fitness stand out, and it’s important for members who rely on those hours to stay consistent with their fitness goals.

I cancelled my membership 2 years ago after transferring from another store, yet they still charged me without my knowledge or consent. They refused to understand that someone who has never set for in the store would not pay for a service to never use it. I don't do business with companies who deceive their customers into paying subscriptions after they are told it was cancelled.

Lots of machines, as at all 4 Planet Fitness gyms I’ve visited. Plenty of parking in their lot. A security guard was walking around inside, an ominous note but nice the gym is on top of whatever issues exist. Unfortunately, there were several broken weight machines - 5 leg machines were out of service when I visited.

I go before 7am so my experience with this gym is:
• Friendly & helpful staff greeting upon entering & exiting
• Clean & monitored regularly
• Not very crowded
• available machines to work out on

cons:
• The parking lot is crowded, to the point people may park on the curb near the entrance.
• A lot of unhoused folk use the showers here (not complaining about that, I don't shower here), but they leave their cars in the parking lot all day or sleep/live in their cars making finding a parking spot difficult.

Great for Beginners, But Watch the Billing

Planet Fitness is a great gym for beginners. It offers a lot of space, plenty of workout machines, and affordable monthly prices, which make it an easy place to start your fitness journey.

However, one downside is the billing system. They charge a $45 annual fee, and if you miss a payment or your account isn’t available during billing, they may charge you double — which can be frustrating.

Overall, I like Planet Fitness for what it offers, but I hope they improve the flexibility and fairness of their payment system.

This gym claims “free zone of judgment” nothing far away from that, they allowed a customer people to publicly ashamed other member because of their weight, It happened during a work out a guy called out another member for his weight the amount of weight being lifted, It was publicly, It was aloud non of the staff came close to the guy being ashamed to make sure it was ok, they allowed their member to bully other for their weigh in the mean time they claim to be free zone of judgment

Honestly I was here with a friend, they are too much for me lol from paying ridiculous late fees a monthly fee and an annual fee for half the machines you use to be out of service I'm good. The two older security are prevs the will stand behind you and watch you workout your whole routine. Many complaints on both mainly Jessie he doesn’t even care if you notice or say something he gets defensive and makes it seems it’s his job to watch you. The other one is the supervisor for the security so you have to go over his head. This has been brought to many staff attention even the locations owner with video picture and witness evidence , they took Jessie offf the schedule for a while but he’s back with the same stuff, doesn’t make you feel safe or protected at all. If you wanna be comfortable durning your workout choose a different gym

I had my passport, ID, social security and debit cards stolen.

I was showering while I locked my shoulder bag and backpack locked in the locker. Someone or the staff members took my backpack and my shoulder bag from the locker with the lock. My backpack was locked in different locker and my shoulder bag was locked in a different locker. Both lockers had different locks. I called a locksmith to get my backpack but I still do not have my shoulder bag in which my passport, ID, social security and debit cards were.

I made a police report to Oakland police but the staff members who are on shift during the evening of March 24th evening 6 pm to 12 am refused to check the camera.

Great value for the price! The gym is a bit small for my taste, considering the amount of machines and workout options, but everything works well and the equipment is great quality. There are showers available, but make sure to bring your own personal items like shampoo, towel, etc. The staff was amazing – super kind and helpful. They explained everything and gave me a tour since it was my first time, which was really nice.

If you pay a little extra, you get access to some nice extras like massage chairs and tanning beds. The only thing I didn’t love is that for the tanning bed, you have to bring your own eye protection – which I found a bit annoying, but I get it… it’s fine, whatever.

Other than that, it’s a solid gym and definitely worth it for the price. Very recommended! Oh and the parking is a little bit reduced

My first time there this morning and nobody even greeted me. I walked right up to the counter and both staff just stared at me until I awkwardly asked if I could sign up for a membership. Then they just pointed to a sign and told me to use the app. I did the whole annoying process then returned to the counter where they required me to take a photo then that was it. I had to give myself a tour. I guess I was surprised because so many reviews said the staff are friendly. They definitely weren’t to me. But three stars still because it is very clean with plenty of equipment.

Locker room floors, shower, restroom soaking in 1/2 inch of water constantly, lacks medium height drain holes black mats (hosed) feet grip and hoseable to minimize drain. At least lurk warm in the jacuzzi that dosen compete with hot pool/sauna. Foremost, the body oder (exspurting) from the gypm clients before/after enter the locker room it's a seriously offensive oder that has nothing to do with excerises, ventilation equipment doesn't seem to be working of full capacity for lite to medium crowds.
Constantly being warned about water on the floors from janitorial staff.
Other than the stay water nsafety, fierce human oder, and inhaling health issues, I love the regulated lane usage, pool temperatures-medium to high, bouncy, jaquzzi at lurk warm/higher, coupled with occasionally Water Arobics which is packed.
It's a good gypm to use and its location in the area.
More consideration from 24-hour fitness about puddle of water (matted) in 3 full sections of the group locker rooms.

Was very thirsty, and before exiting, I wanted to buy some water. The person in the line before me wanted to do the same. We both waited for the guy at the reception to figure out what was wrong with their system. Then he said us that we can not buy any water now because of some problems on their side. he didn't offer to buy the water for cash or give it to me for free (1 damn dollar lol). It feels like I wasn't treated like a human being. This is a well deserved review.

great gym. love it. however there should really be time limits on the Smith machines. people will camp out there for 25-30 minutes, and there are only 4! These are in high demand. Either a time limit or big signs to remind people that other people are waiting to get in there.

This planet fitness is pretty decent. The workers are always cleaning and you're always able to get in get a good pump and leave. The parking lot isn't a sketchy as some of the other planet fitnesses. As long as you just get your stuff and go you shouldn't have any problems. The bathrooms are quite clean here and all the machines are usually working. This always one or two sometimes that needs to be serviced but it's a pretty big gym so you're always going to get some of that.
