The place is new and clean. The staff is polite. However, the strap of one of the bikes has been missing for at least three months but hasn’t been replaced. Several customers have reported to the frontdesk and the answer was “The manager has known.”, but no fix has been done. It’s a safety issue so please fix it asap.

My wife drives 15 minutes each way to Planet Fitness, and it’s supposed to open at 5 AM. Today, after waiting over half an hour, she had to leave because the gym still hadn’t opened. Several others were just as upset about their wasted time. This isn’t the first time this has happened, but it’s the last straw. We all have busy lives, and when a gym doesn’t honor its own posted hours, it throws off the whole day - not to mention the wasted gas driving back and forth. Very disappointing and unprofessional.

I signed up in June for the High School Summer Pass at the retail location. I only intended to register for the free program. The staff asked for my credit card “in case I wanted to purchase a sports drink,” but without my knowledge, they also created a PF Black Card premium membership under my name.

As a result, I was incorrectly charged $25.05 and $49. I never knowingly agreed to or authorized this membership, and I have never used any of the premium services — every visit I made was through the High School Summer Pass.

I went back to the store to request a refund, but they refused. Now I’m paying for a service I never signed up for and never used. This feels extremely unfair and misleading. Very disappointed, and I cannot recommend this location.

Disgusting service. Highly irresponsible young staff who obviously does not value other people’s time. I do not live in California, I have never been to this gym. Not only were they short, rude and gave extreme negative attitudes, but they tried to make it impossible for me to get a quick tan and leave to my own job on time. I am now running behind bc of the two childish, ungrateful workers. The manager of this property absolutely needs to check their staff and go over what it means to work in a customer service position. I have worked at gym in my younger years and NEVER treated anyone poorly. No one was at the desk today for approx 10min, I along with two other unhappy people were pacing and walking the gym desperately looking for an employee. By the time anyone came to the desk, we were all stressed. The boy ignored everything we were saying and neither apologized for being absent - so incredibly inconsiderate - and the girl’s excuse was “I was cleaning”. Now I am in a FILTHY stand up tanning bed that she actually allowed me into WITHOUT CLEANING. AGAINST POLICY AND HEALTH CODE VIOLATION! That is illegal! Everyone be careful using this planet fitness, it is GROSS. She was busy cleaning yet I’m waiting 10min for a dirty tanning bed?? I had to wear socks and receive an ugly tan line to protect my safety. If I get any skin infection, this establishment will be sued bc you will be the ONLY reason why I would have any future issues. I am extreme on hygiene and health, so I can guarantee you, this is going to be a legal issue if something bad happens to my skin and health. This is not a threat, this clarity on what necessary and reasonable steps will be taken if my health goes south. I NEED a follow up from management bc I plan on visiting this gym, as it is the closest to my Airbnb for my work trip and I will not allow myself to be treated this poorly every time I enter without a manager doing something about it. I am calling later today and leaving a message bc I have no faith that the workers here today will assist me. I am scared they are going to hinder my schedule and joy coming to the gym. No one should feel uncomfortable going to a health based facility. They also said policy is “to keep an ID in order to get the padding for the smith machine, but we’re being lenient today”… management, they don’t respect you or your establishment. I returned the padding bc I’m an honest considerate person - the girl and boy at the front desk are anything but that. Shame on this location, you need new employees who take their job more seriously. Photo’s include black hair (I have noticeably brown hair), socks on feet, sweat and oil from the previous person, and proof that they were not at the desk…. HORRENDOUS experience

I recently accompanied my son to planet fitness in Poway where he has a membership that includes massage chair access. He kindly offered to let me try the massage chair, not realizing that guests are not allowed to use it. After just 5 minutes, the staff abruptly turned off the machine and informed my son that manager asked him to go that , it was in a very unprofessional and discourteous tone—that guests cannot use the equipment.

I completely understand and respect the policy, but I believe it could have been communicated with more professionalism and kindness. It was a genuine misunderstanding, and a courteous explanation would have been appreciated.

I hope the staff can be more respectful in enforcing rules, especially when it’s a genuine misunderstanding. Clearer signage and better communication would be helpful.

I’ve been to over 10 or so different planet fitness across the country with traveling and moving. This is by far the best planet fitness I’ve ever been to. Multiple free weight sections. Diverse assortment of machines and attachments. But above all else the staff is great. Facility is always clean no matter the time I come in and on any day. Never any issue with other guests either. 10/10 location.

I waited a little longer to give my review for planet fitness ( started my membership since February ) just to completely vet it. The gym is clean, the staff there are always sweet and helpful my favs are Alexis & Alexia they make me feel very welcome whenever I show up. I didn't have any unpleasant experiences with any staff so far. I follow all the rules and dress codes so I never encountered any issues with anyone. I have the black card & I recommend, after a long workout it's nice to use those facilities. I tried some other gyms around but you can't beat the prices and the vibe of pf. I like that I'm not bothered by anyone and I know the bathrooms are clean every time.

This PF is very well maintained, and there is a lot of care taken in elevating the gym experience from all of the staff. Izzy was super welcoming when she gave me a tour, and the rest of the staff (Alexia, Kveta, Tristan, and many more dope individuals) are always courteous, and make going to the gym feel like a rest day. Genuinely.
I've never been very consistent with the gym, but these guys make it easy.

I've been going to this club since they opened. Everyone there is extremely helpful and nice. If you have any questions they will go out of their way to help and show you properly. One of the girls there is Izzy. She is super nice she does her job well. She helped me set up my account and greets me every time I come in. She isn't rude at all like some of the comments on here are saying. I know rude when I see it and it's not her. If you're having a bad day and come here don't take it out on and blame the staff.

Starting a new gym is never easy but the experience i have from this gym is amazing. Great atmosphere and on my first day the staff were so out going and kind. I have been coming to this gym consistently since opening and have had a wonderful experience ever since. The staff have been getting a bad rep from some reviewers but personally I think it’s farrr from the truth. Izzy has been beyond welcoming and gracious to me and the other staff members are very friendly. I appreciate their cleanliness of the gym immensely, I almost never see dusty equipment. The equipment is also very nice and rarely out of order. The black card comes with some great amenities that make my recovery easier. The massage chairs here are heavenly. It can get pretty busy around peak hours (5-7) so avoid going at that time but other than that it’s not to crazy. I do wish they provided towels in the bathrooms because the air dryers aren’t very hygienic. Lastly the AC isn’t the best sometimes but hopefully it gets fixed sometime soon. Overall the Poway planet fitness has been pretty great and I love it here.

If you haven’t checked out Planet Fitness (PF) Poway, CA., you should give it try. This gym is brand new to this area and it has everything a first time gym person or even a seasoned gym bro or gym girl would need to get in shape.

The staff is very friendly and greets all the guests with a smile 😊. I have met several kind staff members such as Izzy, Tristan, and Alexis to name a few. After awhile, the staff will greet you by your name. I should also mention, there are NO hard pressure sales staff that want you to join. They just believe the gym facilities and perks will sell itself, thanks to the PF Black Card Perks. You need to check that out. It’s pretty cool 😎. Oh, you can’t beat the low monthly fees for everything PF has to offer!!

This Planet Fitness is CLEAN and SANITIZED to keep the customers healthy. You can see the staff often cleaning, mopping and wiping down the gym equipment. In addition, PF has new machines and fully loaded with free weights that will appeal to any gym user.

Planet Fitness lives up to what their philosophy is all about: No Judgment just Respect and Everyone is welcome. Just don’t drop the weights.

I think I have said enough. So keep up the GREAT work PF Poway. You all ROCK!!

this particular planet fitness is my favorite. as a regular who goes about 4 days a week at various times i have gotten to meet most of the employees. everyone is extremely nice and competent. the staff is always willing to help out and make your experience here better. the facilities are always very clean. i had an incident here one night where someone in the restroom approached me very aggressively. i approached the staff and they let me know that it was unacceptable and that i deserve to feel comfortable here. pretty sure that lady is not allowed back as she has since harassed the staff as well. i would really love to thank the assistant manager izzy and alexis for making me feel welcome in this gym. many people complaining about rudeness have not gotten to know these employees and understand the harassment that they deal with.

This gym has been my go to since I moved to San Diego. I love coming here because the gym is always spotless and the staff are super welcoming and kind. I’d give this location a 5 if it wasn’t so hot inside.

I’ve been going to this gym on a very consistent basis since they opened & have thoroughly enjoyed it.

However in the past couple of weeks it feels like the HVACs are not running. I know you’re supposed to sweat in a gym, but I noticed that there’s been a huge temperature shift from when they opened compared to recently.

There’s no part of the gym floor area that you can cool off in. Hopefully they fix this

Shady business practices at its best. BEWARE! They are going to “say” your first month is $1 but then turn around and charge you $49 more 30-60 days later for their “Annual Fee.”
I signed up for the promotional $1 first month Black Card Plan before the gym opened in October 2024. At that time I was never told that the $49 annual membership fee would be automatically deducted from my account 30-60 days later. In fact, when I went in person to check out the gym, I was provided very little information at all. Instead, I was given a brief tour by someone who had very limited knowledge of the plans and the equipment. I was told to go home and download the app. Nothing in the app mentioned the 30-60 day annual fee payment. I cancelled my membership on January 4, 2025 and was unaware I had just been charged the $49 on January 1, 2025. I spoke to a Manager and he refused to offer any sort of refund. He said I didn’t cancel in time. I have now paid $90 to use this gym for roughly two months. Not a good deal at all.
Other gyms do have similar fees but they clearly disclose them when you sign up. They don’t sneak them into a contract that you sign electronically. Take your business elsewhere. Other local gyms also offer more amenities like pools, basketball courts, and group classes for comparable pricing.

I would like to share my impressions of this place since I joined when it opened in Poway.

1) The main reason I joined was to have a trainer who could help me focus on my workouts, especially in targeting areas of concern after having kids. I am willing to pay for that service.

2) Unfortunately, the reports of rudeness are true. There is a staff member with long, dark hair who is often rude to everyone. She tends to call people "baby," which I personally dislike. Her dismissive tone is particularly off-putting. When asked questions, she often responds with a superior attitude. I’m here to work out and make the most of my experience, but I shouldn’t have to feel belittled upon entering. She could benefit from serious training in customer service.

3) The bathroom is very clean, but it is missing facial tissues.

4) I must say that the rest of the staff is very nice.

5) I would appreciate a juice bar where I could grab something on the go after a long workout.

6) I also encourage the hiring of trainers or staff who can show us how to use the gym equipment. Since joining, I have only used about five pieces of equipment because I am afraid of hurting myself since I am not very familiar with the others. I’m currently limited to free weights only. I have even gone to the gym down the street to inquire about a trainer. I would like to continue with Planet Fitness, so please provide us with a clear date for when trainers will be available on-site. Additionally, it would be great to add some classes to the schedule.

Very clean gym, wasn’t too busy which was good for me, I saw a lot of negative comments about the front desk attitude on Google review and honestly I did not have the same negative experience as those people. The front desk was a girl and she was very polite, thorough with her job checking me in, she smiled. I later asked her to explain the cryo bed if she could show it to me and she did and kindly explained it well.
The lockerooms/bathrooms and nice and clean. The premium features like the hydromassage are awesome. I’ve been waiting for this location to open for a year.

Since this Poway location opened on October 21, 2024, I have been going there almost daily. The gym is wonderful with great facilities. That’s why I signed up with PF instead of the other gyms nearby. The reason I’m not giving the gym five stars is mainly because of one of their staff, Izzy. Today, as I scanned my card, she looked into the screen and commented that I came from their Scranton location, and asked me how I like the Poway gym so far. We spoke for a bit and I gave my comments. Then all of a sudden, she abruptly turns away from me and looks away. So I followed her gaze to see if another member caught her attention. No one else was around us. She just decided she was done talking with me and proceeded to ignore me. It made me feel like she was a fake. I told my husband what happened and he said a few days ago, he went there as my daughter’s guest. As they were trying to sign him up as a guest and took a little while, Izzy stood there and rolled her eyes impatiently.

The manager is friendly enough and helpful. Alexia is very sweet, very helpful and starting to get even warmer as she recognizes us now.

In comparison, the staff at Scranton are ALL very warm and welcoming, especially their trainer, Martin. You can feel their sincerity when greeting or speaking with you. 10/10 for them!

As Poway is my selected location, I would love to see a warmer and friendlier community, and it starts with the staff. Come on, Poway PF! Let’s build a great gym where we can feel like we belong. Hopefully I can change my rating to five stars.

I’ve been a member at planet fitness in Escondido. I recently went to visit the new Planet Fitness in Poway to see if I wanted to rejoin. Unfortunately, my first experience in interaction with the staff was a very poor one. I’m pretty positive. The woman at the front desk was the manager and instantly was not friendly welcoming. In fact, she was actually rude. There were a lot of people coming in. Her staff was trying to ask questions for help and she literally said out loud they can all wait. The gym itself was nice, with obviously nice new equipment. But watching her interactions and being frankly, rude to clients and to staff was definitely a turn off. I do believe everybody can have a bad day, but I’ve actually had several friends that go there and had worse experiences with that same Manager about her rudeness and unfortunately very poor attitude and when I have gone through some of the reviews, other people left they all seem to have the same thing and comment about their poor experiences. I stopped yesterday to check the place out. I’ve been to Planet Fitness gyms all over the country and am disappointed that it does not have a 30-min Express Circuit section like EVERY OTHER Planet Fitness I’ve been to.

Great gym! My first time here and I’m super impressed. Very spacious with a variety of machines to choose from. It smells like a new car in here!

I have been going to the sorrento mesa PF for months and decided to check it out today for first time. Upon arrival i had no issues checking in and staff seemed really friendly and supportive to people who are new to the gym. There are machines ive never seen before at my previous gym and the treadmills offer more unique features which is awesome for me! I dont understand the negative comments reading through the reviews either. Staff was friendly and lockers/bathrooms were clean. Highly recommend this location and will be highly considering working out here 👍

I just became a member walked to planet fitness poway the guys name was Elijah. He let me check in and after I checked In he said I couldn't work out because I was wearing slacks. I mentioned these were not jeans. As three others walked in behind me wearing pants he didn't bat an eye. I will now cancel my membership because of Elijah. Horrible customer service.

Toilets are clogged in the employees can't unclog a toilet. Apparently called somebody because it's the pipes, as a plumber BS.
Also the showers don't work there's no hot water, and it's nothing but a young team who's only being taught to operate as corporate instructed, which is the immediately try to move your account to their location 😂 instead of actually 10 to the store. Not a good 3rd day opened. But then again, this is just classic planet fitness.

This location is amazing. Brand new as of October 2024. I love the high ceilings, as well as the lighting. It’s a great balance between natural light from outside and artificial lighting. The wall of windows is epic. Very spacious.

I visited the new planet fitness in Poway yesterday for their grand opening. I went in with high expectations. Unfortunately I left with more disappointment. When entering the gym, it was a little busy and a little chaotic, which I understand during your grand opening, however, first thing I hear is one of the employees asking. I believe the manager for help with customers and rudely she replied back. They’re all gonna have to wait right away that threw me off by the way she said it with it seems somewhat of an attitude. The gym itself was a little smaller than I was expecting, and it had some nice new equipment compared to the other planet fitness that I’ve been to while actually walking through the facility I believe the same manager she was touring a woman through the gym and walked by me and a friend And basically told us to move out of her way with a nut, so nice attitude. I managed and also district managed a major health club chain for over 20 years so I know that an opening is stressful and sometimes chaotic but the end of the day you need to have an amazing impression for your clients and guests and this one was a mess it’s possible she’s new to management or was just overwhelmed even though it actually wasn’t that busy hopefully she can possibly get more training on how to deal with multiple customers and guest to leave a great vision. You don’t wanna leave a gym disappointed or any business disappointed but especially not during a grand opening when you’re trying to attract new clients and guest and leave a good impression on your members.

Have been waiting for a gym to open that was local and today was their opening day. its beautiful!!!!

It feels quite spacious and has lots of amenities. The locker rooms are really nice, and offer free spaces to leave your stuff ( BYOL) as well as showers and spaces to get ready after working out. The locker rooms do require you to bring your own towels (which to me is NBD, I live close enough I can shower at home).

In the gym itself, there are TV's everywhere that play a good variety of channels and staff were walking around cleaning frequently.

What we loved the most is that everything is brand new! Tons of brand new machines that have charging ports (that work!) and that felt spread out well. Overall I am very happy with my experience and look forward to coming back!!!

If you can, I would recommend signing up online and then walking in after having the app downloaded. It made our experience that much more seamless when first checking in as there is a couple steps.

Came in to check things out as this location is closer to my house than my current PF home. Immediately was greeted by a woman at the front desk who was very rude and off putting. (She may even be the manager which would make matters worse) yikes! I get opening day must be overwhelming for staff but that’s no excuse for an attitude. They seemed to have some machines that my current gym doesn’t have like the hack squat and hip thrust, which may be the only reason I’ll come back. Otherwise I was pretty turned off by my experience and customer service.
