My bag with all my personal belongings — including my wallet, documents, and keys— was stolen from a locked locker inside this gym. Someone broke the lock and took everything.
The staff didn’t help, didn’t care, and acted like it wasn’t their problem.

This gym has no real security.
No cameras, no monitoring, no protection for members. Anyone can walk in, break a locker, and steal a whole bag — and nobody will stop them.

This place is unsafe.
If you care about your stuff, don’t leave anything in their lockers.
And honestly — think twice before joining this gym at all.

This is a good gym for the money. The price is unbelievably low for the quality and quantity of equipment provided if you can deal with the noise. I can usually can get to the machines I need over the course of an hour if I go during the nonpeak hours. The overall feel, layout and natural light of the gym is nice. The treadmill section is huge and rarely crowded, providing 8 channels/screens. The mens bathroom does not ventilate well so I try to avoid completely or hold my breath in emergencies. Sometimes they turn up acid rock on the stereo gym to where I can't hear my own cellphone music through earbuds despite wearing bose noise reduction headphones on top. Also often difficult to hear the content from the treadmill tv on wired earbuds despite having on bose noise reduction headphones due to the stereo in the gym. They often run very loud vacuums when the gym is full and right next to patrons. I liked when I was a member of a nearby 24 hour fitness gym, years ago, that 24 hour fitness had the janitorial vacuum work during the low use hours. (11pm). I favor the Planet Fitness in Fair Oaks despite that they have less equipment due to it being comparatively quieter with less vacuuming, lower noise levels, and breathable air in the bathroom. Overall, the PF on Folsom Blvd. is a good gym.

My real compliant is for the black card members. The hydromassage beds feel great but smell VERY VERY VERYYYY BAD! I mean to the extent that the smell will stay and linger on you all day. And it’s a bad BO/moldy clothes smell. HORRIBLE!!! I have brought this to their attention a few weeks ago and can say it still stinks really bad. I’ve brought my own spray, didn’t help. Needs a serious bleach wipe down under the cover and to maybe wash the cover as well with some bleach. Also to have a strong cleansing smell for the spray to wipe down because essentially whatever is in those bottles does not have a smell and not doing the job of keeping the beds clean.

Can also say after traveling to other Planet Fitness’ in Sacramento, this one is very basic with the machines. No hip thrust machine, no ropes of any kind. I’ve seen quite a few different machines at the other gyms that I wish this one would have too! Hopefully an update can come soon there!

Great gym in the sense of location and the employees/staff! Deserves 5 stars there! Also love most of my early morning gym goers, great gym community in the AM besides of course some of the people who don’t have a sense of common courtesy

I had to quit this gym after just a few months. It is disgusting what people get away with here. Homeless constantly bathing and grooming themselves in the bathroom, leaving their hair on the counter; bringing in their carts full of stuff with their animals. The high school kids use the facility for free and ruin it for everyone else. All the machines are taken, but they are not working out. It is just some hangout spot, while the dues paying members are left using whatever they have not claimed. Slamming weights and poor gym etiquette is not regulated in anyway. People will use three or four stations at the same time and become aggressive when you want to use one. The paper towels are constantly out. Lastly, it stinks, to the point where you will not even want to be there. I would recommend anywhere other than there, regardless of price point.

Planet Fitness Violates California Consumer Protection Laws – Predatory Billing & Refusal to Cancel

Under the California Health Studio Services Act (California Civil Code §1812.80–1812.97), consumers have the legal right to cancel a gym membership due to:
• Relocation beyond 25 miles
• Medical hardship
• Inability to use the facility
• Domestic violence
• Disclose clear and reasonable cancellation terms

• Not add predatory or excessive fees after cancellation attempts

I’ve been trying to cancel my Planet Fitness membership since 2023, after fleeing a domestic violence situation and being forced to relocate for my and my child’s safety. I mailed them a cancellation letter, clearly explaining the circumstances, but they refused to process it because it wasn’t sent via certified mail — something they never told me was required at sign-up or in any follow-up communication.

From that point forward, they continued charging me monthly — even though I wasn’t using the gym, had never worked out there, and only used the tanning booth a handful of times. These charges caused my bank account to overdraft repeatedly, resulting in $60+ in NSF fees each time. Planet Fitness would even run the charge twice in the same billing cycle, amplifying the financial damage during one of the hardest moments of my life.

I explained my situation multiple times. I asked to cancel by phone. I visited in person. They froze my account for 4 months, I made partial payments, and when I came back in to finish the cancellation, the manager smirked and told me I couldn’t cancel until I paid it off — even though the balance kept growing due to their own fees and penalties. I’m now stuck in a trap where I can’t cancel unless I pay, but the amount keeps increasing beyond reason.

Planet Fitness has ignored all of this. They refuse to work with struggling members, exploit the cancellation process, and continue billing people with no regard for financial harm — especially women leaving dangerous situations.

I am in the process of filing complaints with the California Department of Consumer Affairs, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Better Business Bureau. I’m also looking into a small claims suit and want to encourage anyone else experiencing this to do the same.

If you are considering Planet Fitness — don’t. Their policies are abusive, their staff especially the store manager, shows no empathy, and their corporate practices are designed to trap people in financial harm.

My lawyer is suing for all my monthly membership fees, all my bank nsf fees, all the late charges, my gas to drive there plus financial loss from missed opportunities due toy credibility with my credit institution for lending opportunities. Join me!

They have young people in there working and have no idea what they're talking about, I pay for Black membership and on app your able to schedule classes when I arrived they tell me that location has never offered classes I've been coming to that location since 2017, and attended 30 minute classes ARE YOU KIDDING ME. yes I haven't been In a while and they may have stopped offering classes but when your new and have no idea do not speak on what you don't know. And I showed her in the app where it shows you can schedule classes. As I told her I'm not a lierand I detest lies. She then changed and said they don't offer them anymore. Planet Fitness is supposed to be a judgment free zone, but there are kids that point and laugh and me and many others at the gym. How they haven’t been dealt with is beyond me. They’re always fighting and creating an unsafe workout area. Avoid this gym at all cost around the hours of 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm if you do decide to workout. It is too hostile and environment and nothing is ever done. Pay a bit more and go to California Family Fitness or at least go to the Bradshaw location where it doesn’t have this problem

Overall the gym is very good, it's fairly clean, and no complaints about the price. Even per PF standards, the size of this gym, could have easily had more machines/free weights. The missing star in my rating is about the hordes of teenagers being a little bit too social while working out, like groups of them just hanging out at the lockers, hoarding the said few machines, and even though they have the right to use them, the spend a lot of time on their phones or just chatting among them, it's usually bad but summers are the worst

The gym was fine for what it is.

I wish they had better enforcement of the circuit training area. So often I'd have people interrupt my attempt at running through a circuit despite posted signs on how this area is supposed to work. Would never see employees over there. Of course it isn't gonna have some of the stuff that premier gyms do like a pool, but it is also ten bucks a month.

During COVID issues started, initially they of course stopped withdrawing monthly dues from my account because they were closed. But it became a huge issue when things started opening up.

June of 2020, they were open for a couple days and sure enough the day they reopened charged my account for the full month. They closed within a week if I recall correctly.

January of 2021, they charged my account the annual fee in addition to the monthly rate without so much as an auto generated email. Then when I had an issue with this they refused to refund the money and I had to dispute the charges with my bank to get the money back. I would have likely stayed a member if they would have just communicated with me in terms of charges during COVID but they did not and then refused to rectify.

Frankly if you are considering Planet Fitness you are probably better getting some cheap weight sets from Amazon and doing Youtube workouts in your living room. If it's a gym that you want, splurge a little for a better experience. Won't be back at this gym, might still be a member if they weren't so eager to charge cards during COVID with 0 communication to members.

Been coming here for years. Good old times. Best time & memory was working out here at night. Staff is great but always changing (which is normal), always clean, 24/7, great price, plenty of machines, wide open space. Can't beat the price compared to other gyms. Only issue I've seen is homeless people lingering outside or walking in the bathrooms. They haven't disturbed anyone as far as I know. I enjoy all the amenities here. It's like a mini spa here

Do not give them your routing and account number in person when signing up. They have had numerous issues with employees stealing information. Found this out recently when I was going to sign up and a customer said do it online not in store. They even showed me the article and what happened to them. Not going here. Also planet fitness replied stating it's for the monthly renewal to ensure no interruptions, well a credit card can do the same and have better benefits.

Seriously one of the nicest planet fitness's in the area! It was packed but still spread out where it doesn't feel crowded. Circuits, abs, ropes, legs, and other focused groups are spread out into smaller open rooms along the edge which is a superb design choice! Very happy with the cleanliness and it was very hot outside and the AC was holding up nicely. Will drive the extra few miles to come here again in the future

I love coming to this Planet Fitness. The staff is so nice, and they really keep everything clean. I have been trying to go every day and one of the staff members always has a "treat" for me when I come in. And by treat I mean the joke of the day. She has a joke of the day calendar and she only tells me the joke when I finish my workout.

This place has been taking money from my account for 9 months, without me visiting any location. I canceled in app, they say you have to come in personally to cancel. Contractual thieves. I don't recommend this fitness facility.
