Small but clean. Good luck getting a barbell rack. There are only 3 and almost always used no matter what time. The abs & stretching corner is pretty small. Only fits about 3-4 people. They could move some equipment around to give more space to people. Overall good gym.

This review is for the redwood California location.
This is one of the few 24 -7 locations which I appreciate as I enjoy working out late night.
The staff for the most part are friendly. With the exception of one female staff member. Let's just say she looks like she has no problem being difficult. ( not gonna call her out by name. I'm sure this won't take long for corporate to figure out who she is.
Aside from that its still a P.F.
I truly enjoy my Black Card and as long g as I'm van lifing and traveling I will make use of my benefits

Too many people for such a small spaced facility. Packed like sardines. Please open a new facility in Foster City. It would also help if there was a staff member monitoring how long people are sitting at weight stations as I experienced people taking up to 25 minutes at one station while they were visibly on their phones (scrolling) and other people were waiting in line to use the machine.

The equipment is good. The treadmill and elliptical machines are excellent. You will have to aggressively negotiate for a weight machine in the gym as a lot of people commandeer them and then they spend time reading their cell phones. The gym does address specific issues as when I initially joined there was a real problem with people using their cell phone loudly in the bathroom stalls of the locker room which is really weird. Going #2 and using the phone, how sanitary is that phone? And for those people please courtesy flush, geesh! They also address the whole working out in Crocs thing with notices on the TV that proper attire should be used. If you're a female I think you should be assertive and comfortable saying thank you I don't need your help to other gym members without feeling bad as I've seen a few female members shy away from this gym unfortunately because of unwanted attention. The homeless recharging their portable generators in the locker room is different. But they tend to keep to themselves and for the most part aren't too weird. The cup holders on the machines are going missing and I have seen them end up in men's restroom stalls to anyone's guess. The low fees attract a lot of people good and bad, you get what you pay for. The staff are really great behind the desk. The only serious concern is around July 5 they were assisting local PD with an investigation which in the current political climate is in my opinion a violation of the 4th amendment and subject to lawsuit under trespass to chattel (chat gpt it) your personal info is chattel. The black card amenities are a excellent enjoyable deal so forget the gym floor and just join for the black card room which is excellent. If your a bodybuilder,pass. Serious athlete, pass. If you don't mind crowds, can generally stick up for yourself,then ok. Again just joining for the black card amenities is worth it. The cleaning issue, depends whose working the desk that day. Couple notes, if you have to drop your weights it means you shouldn't be lifting them as they are too heavy. Let people work in on machines, share. My advice check the gym at 5:30 pm see if you can hack it. I like this gym you might too. Maybe.

I signed up in March for 15$ a month. But after 2 month which is May 1st i got charged 49$ annual fee. I go asked them why is that. They be like "every May they charging this fee". This is kinda joke to me. Because either you charge while you signing up or after 1 year. So if i was gonna sign up june, i was gonna avoid to pay annual fee for next 11 month? If you guys gonna go sign up. Sign up after may. Now i had to move another state and cancel my membership. And paid 15+15 2 month and annual fee 49$ which is 80$ for 2 month. Never again.

I had a terrible experience at Planet Fitness due to how I was treated by an employee named Teayah. A couple of days ago, I used the gym without any issues. This time, I didn’t have my phone to scan in, but instead of just walking in unnoticed (which I easily could have done), I chose to do the right thing and approached the front desk to explain the situation.
To my surprise, Teayah was extremely rude and told me my membership was expired—something that made no sense since I had just accessed the gym recently. While I understand if she was simply following policy, the attitude and lack of professionalism were completely unnecessary. Her approach felt disrespectful and dismissive, and it left a really bad impression.
I ultimately decided to cancel my membership because of how I was treated. It’s unfortunate because I was trying to be honest, and instead, I was met with hostility. I won’t be returning and would not recommend this location to anyone who values being treated with basic courtesy.

This gym USED TO BE clean and tidy. But, for several weeks now, (maybe a new manager?) it is filthy. Gum stuck on a free weight bench has been there since Christmas. Dust covers the base of every piece of strength equipment, bits of used paper towels litter the floor in different areas. The music has gotten louder - even though the majority of users listen to their own tunes with headphones.
Some of the new Front Desk people are distracted by scrolling on their phones or chatting loudly amongst themselves (even dropping some F bombs,) which have been audible in the front half of the room.
I know it takes effort, more than once per day, to keep things clean and tidy, especially in a facility that is open 24 hours. And, it takes planning and a budget line to care for cracked upholstery and worn out hand grips. The Fitness business has may challenges.
But, this place has good "bones." I love the patrons (friendly, happy and diverse,) some of the staff are dynamite, and I love all of the equipment. So many folks renew and refresh here. It's a great location.
Because of that, I believe excellence in the maintenance of this facility is worth striving for. I hope there is the will.

Super excited that Redwood finally has a planet fitness! Overall this is a good location, although it is a little small. It is very crowded during the day, but if you are a late night or early morning gym goer, you’ll be fine. Staff are friendly and always ready to help!

They have the fans always on max speed and is always freezing at night. It will be 50F outside and they will have the AC on. I know theres a heater because when its winger it would be turned on. Now it’s always freezing and the gym is messy. The afternoon and evening people wont stock the paper towels until their shift is ending and the trash overflows.

My main complaint is the temperature. Its always freezing in the gym and its hard to get going because the more you sweat the colder it gets.

Im willing to change my review if they start making the gym warmer at night and TURN DOWN THE FANS

Very small planet, only 1 of each machine, constantly waiting for machines because people sit on them for 30 mins to an hour…. There should be a time limit when you have this crowded of a gym.

Not to mention the staff is rude, no one says hi to you when you walk in or when you leave, because they’re all to busy talking to each other or sitting on their phones.

Gym quality has gone down slightly since opening. Some equipment missing water cups. And there's still no personal trainers but they are gonna insist on enforcing that no guest in the black card spa room. If I'm not gonna get ALL my perks the least they could do is allow my guest to use the same black card privileges I enjoy. Or discount my monthly fee for a lack of trainers. Especially when wait times are crazy before 11PM. Not to mention the staff - unless actively cleaning - are just sitting there on their phone all night.

As I have mentioned before, Savanah is a terrible manager. I have had issues with payment and she is never there, never returns calls and does not care about the customers. The employees are rude when mentioning late payments in front of everyone. They cause embarrassment among other things, I have had issues with using equipment and she is never there. These employees do not care about the customers. They are rude, inflexible and insensitive to many. I recommend that this gym be inspected. Horrible service.

Broken water fountains for over 3 weeks.

Can you imagine going to a gym and then not having access to water for the people working out and sweating? Now multiple that by 3 weeks. Not even water bottles offered to offset. Unless of course you want to pay, because of course the fountains are broken and closed off, but that refrigerator they charge for is stocked to the brim. Crazy behavior for a gym to do.

I recently moved to Taiwan and cancelling my membership has been an absolute nightmare. I have already called three times. The first time Matt gave me the email address of the manager, then assured me the manager would cancel my membership. I called after over 24 hours of no response and Angela told me that the location has no manager, and then Angela took down my information so that the assistant manager would cancel my membership. Beware: Planet Fitness makes it easy to sign up, but don't expect it to be easy to cancel.

The water fountain being so essential for the gym, the fountain has been down for over 15 days. The administration should do more work and put more pressure on the water fountain. The same employees connect the machine and fill the bottles. I don't understand if it works or not or if they just disconnected it on the suggestion so that people are forced to buy water.

Wanted to check out the gym with their free pass. The employee there was trying to come up with excuses to let me not have it. He didn't even know how it worked, and when I followed all the steps, he ended up refusing it becase I used to be a member in another location, arguing that I already used my pass :D. Friendly staff. Clean and tidy. There's a fairly big dumbell rack, but it's mostly weight machines. No Olympic barbell benches, squat racks or deadlift stations. So it's not a proper weight lighters gym. (In my opinion) Also, it's a fairly small premises and can get very crowded. Go off peak or you'll just be waiting around for a turn. I'm using it while here from the UK, so setting up the account wasn't the easiest as you need the Planet fitness app. Which only works on U.S cell phones.

This by far is the worse and smallest Planet Fitness I have ever been to. How this location was approved at the corporate level just shows the absolute greed. This is literally like a personal home gym. Small and dirty with unfriendly staff. If you come to this location you will be greeted with an attitude and you literally will be waiting for any machine a minimum of 10 minutes each time to switch machines. The locker room is the size of a walk-in closet. There are only 2 showers. So a long line for the showers and using the bathroom. This location needs to be shut down ASAP. Do not even think about coming to this location. I promise you that you will regret it. After waiting 15 minutes for a regular arm curl machine because nothing else opened up. I left after doing my set. I've been to regular planet fitness gyms during their busiest times and there were still machines available without waiting.

The assistant manager tried to ban me for life simply because my bank account information was wrong with another location belonging to the same franchise. It was a simple error with the other location. Still, the assistant manager stopped me like a thief robbing a bank publicly. He said I was banned from accessing the club for life having an error with my bank account. The error was fixed the same day. The payment was already made with a zero balance. Now people get banned for bank information errors from this location. Absolutely unimaginable!

It will always be unwelcomed, unprofessional, discriminative, etc, etc place until the lady manager is fired. Given that's been going on for more than a year with no reaction from corporate, it means they don't care.

I'll never, ever use Planet Fitness, and I'll make sure I spread the word as much as possible, so none of my friends and networks do too!

The lady manager at the front desk is rude and clearly show ed it. First thing she questions in mean non profesional way if I had an ID, credit card and proof of residence in order to sign up, I said that was not an issue. . She asked if information wanted in Spanish, I told her it did not matter, not that it bothered me that she asked that, but it bother me her procceding and intention. There was no welcoming smile or kind enough to tell us about the gym or show until I asked if someone could show us around. There is no trainer at this gym and she told me we had two hours to decide if we wanted to sign up. My daughter was with us and her rude way to tell us kids are not allowed was so annoying. She kept looking at us like if we were so unwelcomed. I left, went 24 hours Fitness, they were helpful, friendly. Informative and gladly showed us and asnwered all our questions without rushing or being unprofessional. Ended up getting a yearly subscription with them and a trainer.

While I'm rather pleased with my workouts when attending, I hate walking in the door. I am pestered constantly about not having a card on file. Now, I understand the necessity to ensure you're getting paid, but I have been a member almost 10 years and have never had an issue with my bank account being linked. I travel often due to work and rarely keep the same cards in efforts of preventing scams and fraud. Please do something regarding this ridiculous policy. Thank you.

Hate using my phone during workouts so I won't be easily distracted. Looked for clocks or timers on the wall like other Planet Fitness has, but nowhere visible. Odor was slightly more than usual. Just canceled my membership. Was going consistently after work but the gym is too small and overcrowded. People constantly hoarding dumbbells during their workouts so there's never anything available under 40lbs. Every single piece of workout equipment is always being used and usually have to wait "in line" to use the equipment, and able to use the equipment if I'm lucky. I reported these issues a few times but was told to let staff know and they will speak to the people who are hoarding the equipment, but how awkward is that? Whoever chose this location/size for a gym, in the most densely populated area in the U.S., did not make a good decision. Planet Fitness simply signed up too many people for this small location and now this issue is beyond repair. Good luck!

The gym facilities are generally well maintained and clean, no complaints. Super busy after work.

Main issue is with the female manager who’s frequently at the front desk - I see other reviews also criticizing her. I came to the gym with my boyfriend and he checked in and walked away, while I was still pulling up the app on my phone. The manager then gave me attitude and said “bring him back and tell him that he needs to check in his guest.” Mind, we both have separate planet fitness BLACK card memberships.

I pulled up my QR code and then checked in and told her that I was not his guest. She didn’t even apologize for being mistaken. Definitely felt very unpleasant to be treated that way, as a paying member of the gym.

Other staff members are great - always greet us with a smile. Just that lady always has an unpleasant attitude for no reason.

This gym is fine except for this weirdly aggressive woman with frizzy hair who is sometimes at the front desk. I just saw her tell someone checking in that to they needed to wait because “she needed to speak to them” in a stern voice. She didn’t say “please” or smile. I’ve seen her do this several times in one month !!! And because I’m nosy I always listen in. And all three times it was NOTHING. In the day time it’s so unprofessional. When men come into the WOMENS locker room, (which is very odd to me, especially when there ARE also women working) anyways, they do not even ANNOUNCE they are entering. At other gyms at least they do. Then they treat you very weird and Hoover around the shower and try to make conversation ?? Very weird, unprofessional, a little scary even. Do not sign up with these crooks. They advertise to sign up, requesting checking account to pay and take you money without consent. I came in to this gym and was stopped by the manager because she was unable to generate a signature. She stated I did something wrong on my end. How? She later couldn’t figure it out so, a month went by and her only solution was to create a new account. Their cooperate phone number is unavailable and they only have a third party company who can’t fix things. I have 124.15 dollar charges and still the manager Anna won’t help. She keeps brushing off the fact that I showed her my bank statement and still claims I did something wrong. She refuses to fix this because she doesn’t know how. She gave me a business card to another manger in North Carolina because she doesn’t want to deal with this problem. This is the worst service ever. Don’t even bother signing up here!

I was overcharged because of a club error and they won't refund me. I walked into the club to cancel my membership on January 13th. I was told to sign something and that I would receive an email confirmation of my cancellation. They told me I would have one more monthly payment on January 17th. So I waited until after that payment and also closed my automatic payment account. I got a text nearly six weeks later so I called come find out they never closed my account. So they charged me another monthly fee and a late fee and told me if I didn’t pay, it would go to collections. I asked for the video of my front counter interaction as was told there is no audio so I don’t have proof. The video would show me standing at the front counter, signing, leaving 10 minutes later, and never returning to the club.

This is beyond frustrating that the club won’t own up for their mistake and make this right. I did my part by walking in to cancel and was incorrectly told that I was all set. Not I’m stuck with extra charges for their error.

At first was like okey it’s not a big gym but I’ll try even when it’s so crowned I’ve been trying set me up in a new gym but this wasn’t what I waited for, my complaint here is that the staff told me I couldn’t have my bag next to me because “looks bad” I mean I don’t really care to use one of the lockers but what about when more people are doing the same and the staff don’t matter and don’t say anything?? I think that “opinion” was because it was my first time at night shift, turns out that I’ve gone at Turlock gym and the guys there are so friendly and they never anoying someone with their beginnings like weight belt, water bottle in the bag, I’m pretty sure I wasn’t doing anything wrong but training, was my first and last time there

I’ve been to various PF locations and this is the smallest one I’ve ever seen in my life by far

First - the workers here are probably the most rude I’ve seen at a PF. They take the front desk job as if their life / career depends on it

The point of PF is that it’s supposed to be a bit more comfortable / “judgement free” but this place is so tiny you feel incredibly awkward doing your workouts there

Do not even waste your time trying to go during prime hours - this place is so small it was packed in the early morning so I can’t even imagine the zoo it turns into during the evening

I go late every night. Staff is amazing and so helpful! Lucas is so attentive and he keeps the place spotless. After my last gym and what I went through their it means so much to come to a clean gym with friendly staff that are tentative and actually care about you. Other places I've been to have not been so friendly and the place has been discussing dirty this is like the opposite of that they're just very friendly and attentive and you know there for your every need , yet it's spotless and I appreciate that. I go late at night I kind of like time to myself and they're respectful of that as well. if I just want to be quiet and do my thing then that's fine, if I feel like being social that's fine too. The rest of the evening staff is just amazing. I'm so impressed! The only complaint I have is that I wish the bathroom and showers weren't so freezing. I mean it feels like the air conditioner is on full blast. I just wish they'd turn it down a little bit or something. Some nights I go in there and the temperature is perfect. But most of the time it's like a ice box. Other than that I couldn't be more pleased!

only 2 showers. one has an 'out of order' sign and in the other the shower-head points in the wrong direction and falls continuously. showers should not be listed as an amenity for this gym.

I go late at night to the gym when it's quieter and I have some time to myself and the staff is so accommodating and wonderful I'm so grateful for that. They are also extremely clean I appreciate that more than you will ever know. I used to go to another gym and it was so gross I couldn't stand it anymore I had to literally clean the shower before I used it it was nasty it was nasty I just I'm so grateful if it's so much cleaner and what a nice stuff I can't even tell you. Only thing is sometimes I think the air conditioning is too high and at night time the bathroom can be freezing. At night they should turn down the air conditioner.

I've lived in the neighborhood for years - this business has brought with it a clear uptick in homeless people sleeping in their cars in this parking lot. I suspect this is enabled by them "hiding" amongst the 24hr nature of the business, meaning it's not "unexpected" for cars to be around. Driving the parking lot, the homeless are obvious. Shirtless homeless walking the parking lot were observed today at 11pm. Be a good neighbor and patrol your space. Otherwise the neighborhood will be less safe due to your presence, if not already.

Terrible. The new management has totally messed this gym up for me.
I’m soo glad I canceled.
The lady boss with is incompetent and rude to customers.
The guy is always on his phone and rude with an attitude.
I have observed managers in the BLACK shirts yelling at other people in the gym.
A few front desk older workers compensate for the new managers lack of customer service skills. But still,
Just completely unprofessional.

Great Facility. Just built and recently opened, so everything is nice and clean. The staff is friendly. It’s a great gym. They have a tanning bed and a red light therapy machine too. It’s also an easy place to workout, even if you’ve never been to a gym before.

I just transferred from Massachusetts to Redwood City I’m a traveling surgical technologist. I am extremely disappointed in the cleanliness of the wet areas and the amount of dust all over the workout equipment. I believe I’ve been here for three or four days and there’s a couple brown stains, right in front of the toilet in the men’s room,
These brown stains have been there since I signed up. The shower areas are despicable you could see the grime all over the bathroom floor. The staff is great, but I believe they are lacking leadership. I have attempted to email the management with no luck. My next step is to contact the health department, but I really don’t want to do that. I wish that the owner would address these matters.

Cardio heavy, dumbells and cable machines. No free squat racks or bench press. If you're not into cable machines for everything then the smith machines and dumbells can get you by. Overall a decent gym especially for the price.
