I think this is the simplest and best gym around here and it’s so cheap too. There’s some really solid machines here, the free weights aren’t the best but work fine. Just try to avoid coming at peak times like late afternoon on weekdays because it’s so packed that it’s hard to get a good workout. Also hella people hoard the weights and good luck ever getting a chance to use the smith machine. But honestly these are all small problems I love planet fitness

I’ve never been more disappointed with a gym. The staff at Planet Fitness was incredibly rude and unprofessional. On one of the occasions when I approached the front desk with a question, the employee barely acknowledged me and acted annoyed that I was even asking for help. It felt like she didn’t care at all about customer service. On top of that, the gym was dirty, with several machines out of order for days, and the locker rooms were a mess. I was hoping for a better experience, but the rude attitude from the employees made me feel unwelcome. This place is not worth the membership. I’m definitely canceling and won’t be back.

Dunno where to begin, parking lot got more $$ spent than the club taking care of the problems inside where I feel my $$ should go to. Moldy smell walking inside, 5 people just standing at counter, as you walk into the mens locker room a smell of urine hits you?. A white ring is surrounding the floor edges and entering into shower area ... well it's like I'm at a club and it smells, smells of urine and deodorant spray they use? Dirty mold and yellow stains in showers But the worst is "NO HOT WATER in disabled stall let alone first thing on weekends "NO HOT WATER?" Maybe just leave San pablo gym 24hrs and close this one. Being run by someone who dosent care. Also if you come at night, the staff parks in disabled parking spots and on the few, the counter guy was sleeping 😴. Still smells like a club and they still take forever to fix the house. Why does the over weight security park in the handicapped parking spot? I'm disabled there he is? Good job planet fit.

I live in Chico and San Francisco, and hit a lot of Planet Fitness gyms between here and there. This one was a pleasant surprise.

This location stands out with both exclusive equipment not found at other Planet Fitness gyms and multiple units of standard machines - often two or three of each popular station, significantly reducing wait times compared to other locations I've visited.

It's spacious, clean, and based on the number of lockers without padlocks, people feel safe here. I'm not recommending going lock-free, but thought it worth mentioning.

I've been attending this gym for more than a year and i do have some comments:the staff, most of the staff has been nice to me and they greet on arrival, i do not know their names very well. but there is a lady that spends her time on the phone every time i see her at the counter, i remember one day i was scheduling an appointment for the black card spa, she didn't even looked at me she was on her phone, other members of the staff offer help on this simple task but she is always indifferent. the equipment. I've seen equipment like the smith racks out of service for weeks, and i notice that the equipment on the purple metal parts is so dirty, i think you rely on the customers to clean. but there are spider webs and white stuff on the bicep equipment located in front of the men restroom. also the hours are almost unmanageable; please consider going back to pre-lock down hours, there are people who will work nights; please hire them.

It always smells good when Tonya works here.

In the morning when I arrive, I’m usually met at the door with an invisible curtain of fresh scent and signs instructing to be careful because of the clean wet floor.

I love it! I always see Tonya cleaning and refilling the cleaning stations and locker rooms. Not only is there signage of where she is cleaning, but also there’s the scent of “not-gym” smell, aka clean and fresh.

The facility is being kept beautiful by this lovely employee, who calls me out by name every morning, and this location (Richmond, CA) is a great location to visit.

When getting ready to head to Planet Fitness (Richmond, CA), the vehicle asked, do you want to go where you normally go: to the gym?
Why, yes! I would.
So proud of myself.

Just joined today with a Medicare benefit and I am so happy. Went to a competitor in the morning where after being ignored, i was begrudgingly signed up and given no information. I love planet fitness, it has been my go to gym for a long time now. The reason I am giving it 4 stars is because, is there better gyms out there? Yes I am sure there is. However, for the price you are paying it is a great place to work out. There is the fact that they are open late and I believe still have 24 hour locations. They have a lot of equipment there to fit everyone's needs. If you are a black card holder you can have a guest plus access to things like tanning beds and extra things. They have a locker room for men and women, respectively. The staff at this location seems nice so far. The only thing I wish they would change is the plan options, there should be some kind of family plan. I would love it to be just one neat bill instead of everyone needing a black membership to go and do everything. If you are also wanting a good gym to work out at I would definitely recommend it, especially on a budget.

Was here on October 8th @ 21:00hrs to 23:00 hrs and the workers never ventured far from behind desk showers were nasty bathrooms had trash scattered along the floor, trash cans where overflowing, and the paper towel despensers were all empty except maybe 3. weights where left out and trash was left on equipment such as wadded up paper sweat towels empty water bottles and energy drinks. I observed all this when I arrived at 21:00hrs and by the time I left 2hrs later it was the same. I really hope they correct this issue making workers make rounds every 20 mins or so it's not like they were lacking employees i counted 5. I come to ritchmond every other day for work and need a place to workout.

Definitely a usable and functional Planet Fitness/gym overall. The staff are very friendly. If I could give 3.5 stars I would just because of them. The men's locker room is usually not in a very good condition, particularly the bathroom (smells and such). There is about a 5% broken machine rate. Also, there are a high number of clients that "set up shop" at limited resource equipment. Lastly, the parking lot can get very crowded at peak times and becomes a bit of a mess. Otherwise, I don't have complaints and use this Planet Fitness very frequently.

I liked it over all until eight minutes ago when i tried to stop the treadmill because i put the speed a little to high than normal and fell and no one around me even the employee asked if i was okay because the fall was a little nasty

edit: I'm okay, said thank you to the two employees who looked at my direction for not asking if i was okay and individually they said the following "I didnt hear anything" and "I didnt see anything" to which one of them asked if i wanted to talk to the manager, so i just give up said forget it, knowing i would get a response that I'm not going to like. Growing up I always heard that Planet Fitness wasn't a "serious" gym. I stayed away for years. But I gave this Richmond location Planet Fitness a shot and wow. It is clean, respectful and employees always seem to be on their routes checking and cleaning things. Sure some of the machines get busy but don't they at all gyms? I have never had a bad experience at this gym. It is there to get work done. Plenty of cardio. I would love to keep this gym with me where ever I go. Locker broken into and my wallet and CAR stolen. Tried to speak with a manager but they wouldn’t be in for a WEEK… my car was stolen by non members, who happened to be homeless. How do I know this? 1) once you scan your member ship there is a camera that takes a picture of you I couldn’t find them after looking through them (proving non members) the employees said you don’t have to take a picture but as many times as I go I’ve never been asked and never heard anyone else be asked 2) I saw the thefts sleeping on the street 3) They are STILL lurking next to the burgundy abandoned car at the end of the lot she saw me and ran. 4) All they do is charge their huge pile of portable chargers and take showers thought they were harmless. Mind you while this happened I didn’t see the security once the day my car got stolen. I was there for about 2 hours and 30 minutes and they didn’t check in once didn’t even see him looking around the parking lot or come inside. Maybe I should be a security guard if all I have to do is sleep in my car. So far nothing has been done and I was met with impolite, ill-mannered night shift staff Boys. One of them admitting to not letting non members in BUT if big groups come in they “slip by”. 👍 thanks that’s good for the lawyers. I’m taking it up with the news station I work as well for my first story.

The Richmond Planet fitness is the best Planet Fitness in the Bay Area, hands down. I regularly frequented the sites in Alameda County and further up north, and the staff at Richmond have always been the friendliest. And it’s not like I’m chums with select staff, I mean this with the new folks too. Some of the equipment is a little outdated compared to the newer PFs (ie. newer PFs have a different version of the elliptical machine) but they are all super well maintained here which is why I’m guessing they haven’t needed replaced. This is also the only PF I’ve seen that actually have staff actively training participants. I’ve never tried this myself (too shy), but they have classes that look fun and you see the staff regularly on the floor working with folks.

I've been a black card member for around a decade. Richmond is still my favorite P.F. Friendly, helpful people; clean and tidy facility; usually not too crowded; and ample parking. I'm glad that they have not replaced the flat hydro-beds with the newer semi-reclining model. The flat ones are far superior in my experience. I also get my news "fix" by watching several news channels simultaneously (with captions) while getting my cardio in.

This gym has the basics which is what you can expect for $10-$25/mo, but it is not clean, and people have poor gym etiquette (I.e. taking over machines for long periods of time even when they’re not using them). I’m used to going to a different location (which is even 24/7 which this gym is not), and they always have staff cleaning machines, the floor, greeting you and being helpful. I’ve yet to see that here unfortunately.

After going to this gym for almost a year, I changed my ratings from 4 stars to 3 stars (and I am a person who always gives 5 stars).

There are so many machines that are always empty and they take up majority of the space. I realize that space is the KEY problem.

People are always waiting to get the squat/bench press machines. At least double the number of those machines.

People also keep waiting for the inclined seats in areas where they have dumbbells.

People also fill up the area where they have mats for core exercises and stretching. That can be expanded too.

I'm very satisfied with this gym. I know some people instantly look down on it and people who go there because it's a "beginner's" gym. I've been lifting for 30 years including powerlifting in college. Sure, there's a few other machines I'd like and I wish they had barbell free weights, but I can get in good workouts here. I go early in the mornings to avoid the crowds and equipment I want to use is almost always available.

I was at Planet Fitness around 1pm on 2/11/2023 when I heard screaming coming from the women's restroom. I noticed a man exiting the restroom and walking past the employees and security guard, who seemed preoccupied with their phones. A woman approached the security guard for help, but he didn't respond. Feeling concerned, I went to the front desk and asked them to call the police because a woman had been assaulted in the restroom by a man. It's troubling that there wasn't help response to such a serious situation, and it has made me feel unsafe at the gym. For you ladies please be careful at this gym becuse no cares to help you if something like something like this happened to you.

Do yourselves a favor and don't go to this gym, three days ago somebody took my backpack from the locker, they stole my wallet with my IDs and my card and they also stole my car, it's not the first time it happens, nor the last time it will happen, there is a group of people inside the gym who do this, there is a modus operandin and the police confirmed it to me, the gym employees do not worry about it, nor do they warn the members of the gym and they are very calm having these people inside, not even I don't know if they pay for a membership or just come in that way, it sucks!
