Planet Fitness at Northridge Mall is a really well-kept and welcoming gym. The place is always clean — I often see staff actively tidying up and sanitizing equipment, which is great to see. The team here is also very helpful and quick to answer questions.
While most of the machines are cardio-focused, the selection of weight machines is still solid and covers the essentials. Overall, it’s a great gym with a friendly vibe and a clean, comfortable environment to get a good workout in!

I’m deeply disappointed by the way Elida Vásquez, the supervisor at Planet Fitness Salinas, handled our situation.

My husband is a Venezuelan immigrant whose legal permission to work in the U.S. was suddenly revoked in April 2025 due to President Trump’s policy changes. These changes terminated Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and humanitarian parole, stripping work authorization from hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans — including him.

I’m an American citizen, and we are legally married. After weeks of having no income at all, a family member generously sent us a gift — a small amount of money meant for gas and food as we relocated from California to New Jersey, just after our wedding. My husband had been so caught up in desperately trying to find work before the move — despite having lost his legal ability to work — that he forgot to cancel his membership.

And the moment that money hit his account? Planet Fitness took $120. Like thieves in the night, they pulled funds not from abundance, but from a rare moment of survival.

I reached out to Elida Vásquez directly. I explained everything — our sudden loss of status, the financial crisis we were facing, my husband’s worsening asthma, and the fact that he wasn’t even using the membership. I was extremely polite, detailed, and vulnerable. I even offered to provide documentation of both his medical condition and his immigration status.

Elida responded once to confirm the cancellation. After I shared our situation in full detail — including the impact on his health and the legal proof I was ready to offer — she never responded again. No apology. No compassion. Just silence — and a refusal to refund us because, as she said, “it wasn’t for medical reasons.”

It’s hard to believe someone with the last name Vásquez could show such indifference to the suffering of another Latino — but I guess names don’t always come with values.

If you’re in a vulnerable moment — if you’re struggling, displaced, or hoping for compassion — don’t come crying to Elida at Planet Fitness Salinas. She won’t care. She’ll quote policy and stop responding. And again, I was extremely polite.

Good luck finding any space here! Absolutely ridiculous policies here. I love the idea of giving “14-19 year olds” a space to work out, but the fact that there is no time frame and a work out that usually would take an hour now takes 2 due to crazy lines. As a business you should take care of your paying customers. Unfortunately I’m an idiot and signed a year contract so I’m locked in and screwed by the idiots in charge. I feel bad for my fellow gym goers and the poor staff who have to deal with their stupid policies. Please PF add time constraints to keep the teens there at non-peak time.

I gave this gym a good review before but lately, it has been overcrowded, dirty, and alot of the equipment is breaking down. Yesterday, one of the main AC units was leaking fluids on the equipment and people. An unsafe environment. They ran this place down alby overloading the gym with new subscriptions before they opened the new one in south main. The staff remains super friendly and helpful.

Recently separated Veteran appalled at the treatment I received from this facility, and I have used Planet Fitness all over the country with this being the worst by far. I PCS'd from this location back in 2020 and canceled the membership via phone like I have done many times before and no I did not always receive paperwork from the location. I had two memberships pulling from my account. One in my name and one in my mother's name in another state. The charges do not show indicating the location. Before I continue, this isn't a woe is me situation. I recognize I let some things slip through the cracks with my deployment schedule and operational tempo.

Having recently discovered my mother has not used her membership in quite some time, I started digging to find out where this other membership charge was coming from that had been pulling from my account for years without being used. After contacting corporate they let me know I still had an active membership at this location. I think, no worries. Let me call and cancel it. They received 5 years of free membership payments without use. What's done is done. After calling I am greeted by Daniel who proceeds to tell me I have a negative balance on the account in excess of $100, (roughly a few months). I explain that I canceled the membership via phone years ago, and he proceeds to tell me that didn't happen. Essentially calling me a liar. I talk to Daniel to try to figure out a way forward and at least cancel the membership for the time being. He proceeds to tell me he can't cancel it with a negative balance. I explained that I deployed twice since canceling and moving, to which he tells me there is nothing he can do.

I know this is a lie because I have canceled and had fees waived after the fact because I was deployed and, in that instance, Planet Fitness did send me a document which showed they can in fact waive fees for military. I explain this to him and suddenly he is aware this is an option but tells me he does not have the authority to take that action. I ask to speak to the manager to see if they have the authority to help me and Daniel tells me she will be in the following week and will return my call. They did return my call but when I answered I wasn't speaking to Gisele the manager (assuming this is the manager as it is the other name he gave for contact). Instead, I once again was speaking with Daniel who kept insisting nothing could be done without paying the balance unless I track down my deployment orders and send them to him. I know this to be false as, again, I have had multiple Planet Fitness memberships across the country and dealing with last minute moves, deployments, and training events which took me out of state for long periods of time, I have had to cancel membership via the phone and was told it was really easy to do and at the discretion of management on site. After getting nowhere, I reluctantly tell Daniel I will try to track down the orders but ask if he can freeze the account in the meantime to stop fees accruing. Once again, he tells me their hands are tied. Apparently, they are incapable of doing much. You would think that 5 years of free dues would be sufficient but the greed and apathy at this location really rubbed me the wrong way. I wasn't asking for a refund of 5 years even though I am certain I canceled my membership via phone. I remember doing it on the drive out of state. All I asked for was a cancelation and to waive the past 4 to 5 months of dues on an account that hasn't been used but has been paid for 5 years. Instead, I was met with lies, accusations, and a conversation where he overlooked solutions, and every other sentence was about paying the remaining balance because "their hands are tied".

Truly one of the worst examples of customer service and business management that I have ever experienced. This level of apathy and greed speaks to where their concerns lie, and it is not with you the customer. Do yourselves a favor and find a gym with a good staff. A good staff makes a world of difference.

Its a solid gym, not as spacious as other PF gyms, would be nice to cut down on the cardio equipment and add another leg press and pec dec machine. More cable attachments like the rope would also be good.

There is a weird smell from the mens bathroom I cant seem to place and for my fellow gym members, please rerack your weights and attachments PROPERLY!!! You are not a child, if you can use them then you can bring them back, dont just leave them on the floor relying on the staff or other people to do it for you, you are not the only one working out and clean the machines after use.

After paying for membership, was told that I must download their app on my phone or else I cant use the facility, and cant use any other PF facility either. When I told them I didnt want to put the app on my phone, they asked twice if I wanted to cancel. They finally agreed to allow me to check in under my phone number. I've been going here for 2-3 months and I can say it's a great spot. Jose Castro is the desk attendant and he is well spoken for when I say he is a great guy, he makes small talk to get to know his clients and is always ready to answer questions. I see him walk around every now and then to make sure everyone is doing well. He also uses his free time to mop the floors. Amacia Sacazar is very thorough when she cleans the showers and fast at it too. Making sure the bathrooms are clean and ready to go. Both are very friendly and have the hospitality vibe all-round in this gym, the attentiveness is a good amount when there's not much to do in the first place. I also come here around 12am-2am so it's not so pack all the time and they make the best of my time there with good vibes.

Good location, plenty of parking, in the mall, relatively new gym, big and spacious, good app. 24 hours open->a big plus, and the rates are very reasonable plus plenty of locations around the country.
Normally very clean and well taken care for.

Tons of cardio and not enough weights or resistance machines, I’d say 60 percent cardio.
Many times I have to wait to use the machine or weights that I need, and… with the addiction to cellphones, people aren’t aware that they’re sharing a space and machines with others.. zombies

4 out of 5 not bad, I’ll keep my membership and I’ll keep going to this location (so far the only PF in Salinas) and I hope they can add weights and more machines.

False information they wouldn’t let my 13 year old daughter in. I had previously come in the gym asked about the policy they said it was 13 plus+ because they also wouldn’t let her go in when she signed up online without a I’d. The manager at salinas planet fitness, name jacky got upset because my app wasn’t working and she had to actually work and input my cell number and lecture me on how the process works to sign in. i’ve been a member for some years. She thinks she’s the owner of planet fitness & over stepped her authority as a manager of that location, rude & unprofessional when it comes to service and dealing with a member she should step down and reconsider her position if she can’t be professional and courteous.

Gym is nice so no problems there. 1/5 Stars for the cold water showers. Waited for a shower to get warm, and the faucet was on backwards, so it would be ice cold on hot, and room temp ish at cold. Tried another shower, no luck on hot water. My boyfriend said the same in the men's. The shower water never got hot. Also, I sat on the massage chair but didn't see any hydro massage beds like in other planet fitnesses.

Dirty as usual. Unless you're going to a brand new location these owners really don't care about you . The place is always dirty for sure trash everywhere. They literally never clean the bathrooms. I post every time just because it's extremely annoying but no one ever responds or does anything. Hiring someone to clean the bathrooms periodically can't be that hard. The staff is always just standing around with 5 people at the desk on their phones. They don't even speak or address you when you come in. They just stand there. Toilet paper is always out. They should put paper towels everywhere on a spool like newer locations and spray in the stall for people can help spray showers down for cleanliness. The floors are slimy all the time there is debris everywhere. Door handles broken. Shower heads don't work. It's just too much. I just don't understand you company's motto. The people that work there are lazy. They obviously don't even use the gym. They bring their McDonald's in and eat at the front dest. Whatever fast food is there. U want people to be healthier but at the same time you don't. It's just a bizarre oxymoron of a company. I can't jump rope at the gym either? But then you have random Mary eating donuts while of the stair master. Definitely not hiring the best of the best they could be. These staff could care less about your health goals. They don't ask how or what your doing just like mannequins that don't do anything. Need better and more responsible ownership at these places. It's like known to be the dirtiest gym around. No one wants to get sick from moldy slimy floors in your gym

First time here at Planet Fitness, I love the place, and the reason why, I rated it a 2 star is that people hog the machines and when they go with a group of 4 people forget it you will never get to do your workout. Also, people take all the dumbells so good luck finding some.

Although it's at the mall I understand the craziness at the gym The majority of people go to the gym to workout sometimes I want to use a machine and there's someone instagraming or strolling through their phone. I'm like come on kid I got one hour here my time is precious I've got responsibilities to attend to lol I'm trying to get my selfcare workout in lol. Overall just clean your machines before working out no one really cleans after use. Affordable price to start your health journey.

First of all the cleanliness was five stars the equipment, massage chairs and tables were five stars as was the price of membership. The employees I had experience with needed training. Customer service was patronizing.

BEFORE SIGNING UP PLEASE READ THE REVIEWS

I went in to get information on becoming a member. I spoke to the rep at the Salinas location, Asking verious questions. I specifically asked about locations of other facilities, If there was one in Monterey I was told there was. And that when I go to sign up, for me to put Salinas location as my home base, Being I live locally. But that I could still use the Monterey facility. I sign up online and a few days passed, I went to look for the Monterey location, To find out they don't have a Monterey location. I was very upset, Because I signed up for the PF Black card, So that I could go to the Monterey facility as well, And yet there isn't one. I went to talk with the manager to inform them of the misleading information and that I wanted to down grade, Since they don't have a facility in Monterey. The manager told me I couldn't, Unless I payed a fee of $58.00 and that I had a 12 month contract. And because I did it online and not in person, He couldn't do anything for me.

The former Manager was phenomenal. Look forward to see who the company brings in next. Current staff are helpful. 4 stars because they don't always have the cleaning stations properly stocked. Previously, staff would go to stations with carts to replenish often, now it is every so often.

I would say if they control the teenagers' groups, everything will be better. Teenagers come here to hang out in groups of 3+. The only way to get a machine is to just stand there and wait for the person working out and his group to move. They talk more than useing the machine. This is not acceptable because I am losing time by waiting to do my workout, and I saw so many people waiting like me too. It was not like that a year ago.
They need to control the groups and increase the machines by reducing the treadmills because of the spaces.

This place is beyond packed! The only way to get a machine for weights is to just stand there and hover over the person working out. Not to mention teenager come here to hang out in groups of 6 or more. There’s no crowd control at this place what so ever. I’d say the more expensive membership at other gyms are worth it

So initially I was upset that they want your routing number and gave a 1 star. Turns out though, most gyms do that, and having accepted that, I think this place is alright.

I didn't actually sign up, but the monthly charge is pretty low and you're getting alot for it so I'd say why not, give it a shot.
