This location used to be really nice, but now it has gone downhill. No complaints about the workers, but the cleanliness and machines need maintenance and real good cleaning.

The paper towel dispensers are never refilled correctly. The roll of paper towels are placed on top of the garbage cans where that is very unsanitary and usually damp. It seems like they are too lazy to open the dispenser and place a new roll inside the compartment.

The total body enhancement machine has been down and out of service for over two weeks. Two of the tanning beds are also out of service. The men’s hand dryer has also been broken or out of service for over a month. Which causes a very slippery bathroom since there is no way to dry our hands and people just drip water all over the floor after washing. Elliptical machine needs to be wiped down and cleaned on the sides and bottom due to sweat drops and dust buildup.

The workout machines are usually all working and I rarely see those out of service in the past two months. Just needs cleaning in between the machines. I can keep going but these are the main reasons I gave this such a low rating. Hopefully they can fix these issues and have it resolved.

Per the Business Manager’s response to my Yelp review yesterday, I followed up with Saul, the San Bruno Planet Fitness manager, regarding the ongoing issue with the infrared vibration plate machine not in working condition. Saul confirmed that he has repeatedly informed upper management about the broken equipment but that they “are not trying to spend money on this location.” He further stated that management is “being cautious with how much they spend” because this club is expected to relocate "soon." According to him, no move date exists because the landlord extended the lease by six months and the Best Buy deal fell through.

Meanwhile, Planet Fitness continues to charge VIP Black Card members for amenities we cannot use. This is unacceptable! Members are paying for services that are not being provided, and withholding repairs while continuing to collect full membership fees raises serious legal concerns. Every VIP Black Card member has grounds to demand a refund for the amenities we are being denied.

I expect immediate action and a clear plan to restore full access to all paid amenities.

This San Bruno Planet Fitness is not my home gym, but it’s the location I use most. I joined Planet Fitness specifically for the infrared light vibration plate to manage chronic pain, and today marks the third day in a row that this machine is not working. Before that, the music system was down for three days.

Just a few weeks ago, there were no towels available because the location was “waiting on a shipment.” I filed a complaint, and towels suddenly appeared. This is neglectful business practice and an unacceptable way to run a facility. Our health and safety should be your highest priority.

I’m posting here as promised in my complaint yesterday. As a VIP Black Card member, I expect all equipment to be in proper working condition with minimal interruptions.

Planet Fitness—do better. You receive your payments on time; provide the service you agreed to.

By far the dirtiest PF I’ve ever seen. Actually looks like it’s never been cleaned. The mirrors are splattered with sweat, spit? and hand prints. Hair clumps, dirt and dust around all the machines. Benches are torn and needing repair. When I walked in there were 5 people behind the front desk, 2 sitting on the counter on their phones. Not one greeted me. Complete lack of customer service. Where is the owner of this branch? This place gives the whole franchise a bad name. Your customers deserve better

Came in for a quick workout and noticed a few machines were out of order. The locker area could use a refresh, but the staff member at the desk, Cario, was friendly and helped me sort out my access quickly. The gym can get crowded in the evenings, so I recommend going earlier if you want some space. Equipment variety is decent, and for the monthly price, it’s okay, but a bit of extra maintenance would make a huge difference.

I’ve been here a few times as I live across the Bay, but man, this gym is pretty small for a Planet Fitness. They could do with a bigger gym, allowing for more equipment, they only have a couple smith machines and like one of each machine. It gets super packed here too.
As for cleanliness, I’m not impressed. Theres dust infesting the entire gym. It probably hasn’t been cleaned in ages. Same thing for the bathrooms, they seem poorly maintained. I work at a Planet Fitness myself and am just disgusted by the lack of cleanliness here. It’s not that hard to sweep and even just vacuum.
The employees aren’t rude, but they definitely need work on their customer service. They can’t seem to be bothered to do anything or even respond simply to greetings or farewells.

The workout area is decent and offers a wide range of machines for both cardio and strength training. Cario, who greeted me at the counter, was helpful when my barcode didn’t scan. I appreciated the welcoming attitude, though several machines were out of order and the locker room could use better upkeep. It tends to get crowded during the afternoon, making it hard to find space. For the monthly cost, it’s fair value, but the place would feel much better with more consistent maintenance.

I visited Planet Fitness in San Bruno recently and had a mixed experience. The location is spacious, and they have plenty of cardio and strength equipment, plus massage chairs and tanning options for Black Card members. The front desk attendant, Cario, was friendly and helped me with my app check-in when it wasn’t scanning properly. However, a few machines were out of order, and the locker room could use better cleaning. It’s a decent gym for $10 a month, but maintenance needs more attention.

I lasted only five minutes at this gym. I've used Planet Fitness all over the country, and this is the worst I've encountered. The bathroom is very dirty, with water bottles and paper on the floor. The water fountain wasn't working. They said it was a one-time issue and they were trying to fix it. However, in this case, they should have given out water bottles or tried to offer a solution. Half the equipment was under maintenance.

Member here for almost a year. Honestly just depressing how limited equipment is here. They really need to increase benches for dumbells and smith machines for the experience to be more than torturous. Ultimately, youre paying very little for very little equipment, so buyer beware.

Without a doubt, the worst Planet Fitness I have ever been to. The entire gym is a complete mess, with everything in disarray. It's clear that very little is done to maintain the facility, as a significant amount of the equipment is broken and unusable.The most shocking part, however, was the men's locker room, which was absolutely disgusting. It's unacceptable for a gym to be in such a state. To top it all off, the staff seemed completely indifferent to the conditions, standing around doing nothing when there was clearly plenty of cleaning to be done. There is no sense of care or management at this location. I will not be returning.

I’m considering canceling my membership after 3 years!

Honestly, this is the worst Planet Fitness I’ve ever been to, and all because of how poorly it’s run.

Buy new equipment, fix the gym, or stop stealing money from your customers.

The staff are always completely detached—half the time glued to their phones, rude, and sometimes even raising their voices at members. Machines are constantly “under maintenance,” but the reality is many of them aren’t even broken—they just slap a sign on so they don’t have to actually replace old equipment. Out of 4 climbing machines, 3 are marked broken, and 2 of them are perfectly fine! That’s not maintenance, that’s laziness and greed.

The equipment itself is outdated and dusty. The gym feels poorly ventilated, and anyone doing cardio will notice how stuffy and low-oxygen the air is. For the amount of people who come here, there is shockingly little equipment, and what’s left is falling apart.

This is pure poor management—cheap, greedy, and careless. We pay money every single month, and this is what we get? No new equipment, no care for members, just signs slapped on machines so they can squeeze more time out of them. Shameful.

Buy new equipment, fix the gym, or stop stealing money from your customers.

This gym is very poorly maintained. The shower room, commode, and sinks are not clean, and the drinking water fountain smells bad and feels unsafe to use. The toilets and gym floors don’t seem to be mopped or cleaned regularly, which makes the whole place unhygienic. I personally went to your facilities at tanforan Planet Fitness and filled out a form on a tabet for a 1 day pass. I have been to multiple PFs all down the west coast from WA to CA and everything in between. This place was outright disgusting and needs a lot of attention to cleaning. This is pertaining to the bathrooms. Dirty underwear, socks, toothbrush, speed stick all in the dressing room with a submerged floor full of water. Multiple men in the locker area on their phones lurking around. Half the lockers do not have hook/latches to secure your belongings with a lock. The overall culture at this particular location is not what I’m used to either. The usual etiquette is if you’re in the shower, you can keep your belonging and clothing in a changing room. Not the case here. Not this is not a PF thing to enforce nor on them just the right thing to do so someone doesn’t have to walk out butt naked and change outside in the open. The place was also over packed. I did go in at 6:30pm so it’s a given but I def would avoid this one at peak hours as it is on the smaller side. This can also be said for the Daly City location.

Lies and intentionally misleads customers. I asked a representative on the phone when I could cancel in order to not be charged for an additional month and she told me “before the 16th” but when I went to cancel in person the woman there said I had to cancel by the 10th so she charged me. I was lied to and no offer for a refund or a way to rectify the issue has been extended despite Planet Fitness corporate's or my repeated requests.

I cannot believe that you, the owner, would allow your business to get so rundown. Support handles, falling off the shower walls, a curtain only half covering the entry, which makes for a damn cold shower,. The walls in the dressing rooms have who knows what All over him, and the corners of the stalls floors are deplorable, obviously not washed for some time. The mats on the shower floors have white growth when you lift them up, the drain plate cover on the large shower stall is just sitting there, no screws holding it down. Period you want a liability issue? This place is very poorly maintained and your employees just sit around and do nothing about it. You may have lost a customer, have to find a better place. If this is your home gym I feel sorry for you. I’ve been to 100+ Planet Fitness locations around the country and this is by far the worst. Very low quality as far as planet fitness goes. I am convinced they don’t clean at all - the dust accumulation is intense behind every barbell. Maybe on par with other gyms. Showers are broken / small gym / busy / dirty. If you are a classic member, I guess this location is fine. but if you are a Black Card member, you might get disappointed due to the amenities are always unavailable, I'm unable to use the hydro massage, etc.

and in general, the gym as a whole has a lot of dust and tissue papers are all over the place. their staff here is so unfriendly, you won't get a greeting or whatsoever, they just answer your questions without apologies or explanation on how long the amenities will be unavailable.

To be honest, I am not a member of this gym. I was considering it, but after reading these reviews, speaking with people I know who are current members here, I think I will pass on this gym. This review is for the men's locker room. I've visited over 20 Planet Fitness locations across the U. S. and this is the worst locker room I've ever encountered by far. There are only 2 working showers for a very busy gym, be prepared to wait. One has been broken for a very long time, a floor buffer is parked in it now. Also, one sink is broken. So again, 2 working sinks in a busy gym. The lights have gone out on a mirror also. Many of the lockers are broken and missing the entire door. Also, the water fountain is often broken. The gym area is good, but the locker room is horrible and in disrepair. The staff is friendly, the blame falls on the owner. Whoever it is clearly does not care, otherwise things would be fixed in a timely manner and not compound the way they have. Whoever you are, shame on you.

***Update, visited again on 2/27/2025 and to my shock the locker room is even filthier. Trash everywhere on the floor and showers, disgusting!!! I told the 3 people sitting at the front desk about all of the trash on the floor. They gave me a blank stare and went back to their cell-phones. Absolutely filthy.

I've been to 50 Planet Fitnesses the past 18 months. This one is NOT normal. Dirty! Bathrooms were TINY and disgusting and locker doors literally lying on the floor and no soap in any dispenser. You can't wash your hands after being in this disgusting gym.

And gym size is far FAR too small for how crowded it was at 9pm. Smallest Planet Fitness yet largest crowd. Like 3 people for every machine. No exaggeration. Not one treadmill was empty. I used any machine or dumbbell I could find. My workout plan didn't matter. Insane.

If you have never visited another Planet Fitness, just know this is NOT normal! Maybe in the Bay area? I cannot say. But most Planet Fitness locations are extremely clean and well sized. Not shoulder-to-shoulder like a college bar.

Great area . The location is probably one of the worst location La as far as cleaning goes the men’s lockers is still the same as described in the previous comments and reviews broken down locker and tye water fountains do not work . If the owner reads the reviews he should be ashamed to not fix all the repairs ! Was assisted by very helpful staff ! Other than the clean part of the gym it would be a better rated gym !

The nastiest locker rooms on the west coast. I travel very often from Washington to San Diego, this is by leaps and bounds the worst planet fitness on the west coast. The locker room and showers smell worse than they look, and they look horrible. Seems like they get cleaned once a year, maybe. The staff never looks u in the eye and iv never seen them actually work or come from behind the counter.
Health and safety need to shut this location down. It's a bacteria pool.

I recently visited Planet Fitness for the first time, and while the gym itself isn't large, it offers good value for the price. It's advisable to avoid peak hours to ensure you don't have to wait for equipment.

Reason for 3 Stars:
My rating reflects a significant disappointment with the advertised services. Prior to my visit, I was excited to participate in free fitness classes, which are prominently featured on Planet Fitness's website and app. I even scheduled a session to tailor a fitness program to my goals and familiarize myself with the gym's equipment. However, upon arrival, the front desk staff had no knowledge of these classes. Despite having two bookings in the app, I was informed that they've never offered such classes at this location.

This experience was quite misleading, and while my frustration isn't directed at the staff, it does call into question the practices of Planet Fitness as a whole. False advertising is not only unethical but also misleading for potential members.

Planet Fitness might offer affordable memberships, but this does not justify deceptive marketing. I hope this issue is addressed company-wide to prevent future disappointments.

Best planet fitness in the area. The staff are always friendly. They never judge and they listen to the customers needs and if I had to shot out one person personally, it would be the Diego in order to succeed in life you gotta be willing to do stuff nobody else wants to do with a smile this is an excellent gym, always clean always running the point of a gym?

Been going here for months everything that's broken then is still broken now. Any thing that is dirty has only gotten dirtier. Pretty sure upper management is turning a blind eye, they probably won't care if people started getting viral skin infections from the showers or pass out from dehydration due to their fountains always being broken. If you're going to visit a PF location this one is abysmal and a filthy bio-hazard. I am force to keep visiting, my boss wants all the workers to workout here :( . The only star would probably be for the high as a kite front desk clerks that remain neutral and lukewarm even in a deplorable environment.

its convenient, they have AC, & staff is friendly but i will say its not a clean gym. The machines especially the cardio machines are covered in dust. Any machine im on i will clean thoroughly but that isnt my job to wipe months of dust off.

I am very frustrated , I have the black card membership. I usually don’t complain about much because I know life is not perfect
Even have been willing to wait for machines too many people not enough machines but hey I have rolled with . There are 3 showers in the men’s room the first two weeks I was there one was not working it was frustrating waiting along time for the other two. I was astonished when I went yesterday and now two showers are not working. Had to wait 25 minutes for shower . Tell you what instead of telling me how sorry you are why don’t you discount my membership till you fixed the two showers. That would let me know truly how sorry you are. Those showers should have been fixed immediately but not being worked on . There is no excuse for this . It really has upset me I have probably two weeks left on my membership I am canceling it it sad because I did like the gym.
What in the world could you say to jutify collecting our money yet this is happening?????

DO NOT GO HERE - Had to block them through my bank because nobody can help and the manager works 15 minutes a week so they are impossible to talk to. You have been warned. Many gyms around the area. Good luck if you still try this ruthless business. It’s cheap because it will cost you a lost more in the long run.

I'm a Planet Fitness fan and use their facilities all over the country as I travel for work. This is a smaller store and was not well maintained the day I was there...empty paper towel dispensers, men's bathroom needed attention.... But, I got a good workout and would still recommend the Black Card PF membership. The hydro-bed alone is worth it.

This was the most disgusting Planet Fitness I've ever visited! The shower curtain! Omg! The horror! Hair on the walls and the floors were so filthy!! Layers thick with filth. I don't think anyone cleans anything at all in this whole building! I will never be back and I feel sorry for the ppl who PAY HARD EARNED MONEY for that filth. That made me so upset. It's small for a PF but not crowded when I go, and it has many Smith machines relative to the size. Many machines are old but most are in good condition. I love that it's 24/7! Critiques: more small weights are needed - it's very hard to use any dumbbell below 12 lbs. Also, some members use the benches for dozens of minutes at a time as drink holders while doing ab exercises.

For a relatively new gym, it is degrading fast. A sink in the men's room has been inoperable for about a year. Toilet paper holders are broken and parts missing. The hand dryer is broken. Pads on the equipment have worn through. As another member stated, the water fountain was broken for months. It's finally fixed, but absolutely no excuse for it taking that long! Keep the place up already! I'll happily update this if you decide to fix things.

Do better, San Bruno. I travel regularly and always enjoy going to PF for a workout and shower before getting back on the road. San Bruno, you take the prize for the absolute worst bathroom experience. When I walked in, I noticed a door was missing from a locker. There was a substance that resembled saw dust dumped across the entire dressing counter. The showers were deplorable - only the disabled shower (1 out of 3) worked and it was nothing short of a nightmare. The towel hook wasn't secure and was falling out of the wall, the shower curtain was disgusting, there was so much hair on the bench and floor, someone's used washcloth was on the floor, the handicap railings were falling out of the wall due to cracked tile, the amount of old soap and trash was WILD, the main shower head didn't work at all. I had to use the disabled shower hose (an actual hose without a shower head) to take a shower. When washing, I had to wedge it into the rail and then grab it to rinse off. When I got out and the next lady went to use it, she looked at me with panic on her face and asked how the hell she was supposed to use that shower. Management desperately needs to adjust operations to accommodate the sheer volume of people who use this gym and actually make REPAIRS immediately and on a recurring basis. Do not reply with a cut/paste PR response, fix your gym.

They have not been able to correct my membership, and the manager seems to go on vacation for a week every time I call. They apparently don't have an assistant manager that's ever available either.

I don't like how they have your bank account and when you stop coming they still charge with late fees and it all adds up. Then by the time you want to go back to the gym. You have a Huge Fine and can't afford to pay it. You have to pay it before you go back. THAT SUCKS!!!!!!

I'm in and out when I get to the gym. Pf has a circuit which is a great idea when executed well. Not enforced at this location however. There are a LOT of people just hanging out on machines not cycling through in the circuit area. Im forced to ask them to move, but it's not really my job. It's great for what it is though and stars bumped from three for the crowd meter in the app, that's a great feature.

The pictures for this place are not the actual pictures of this location, except for the picture of the outside and one bathroom picture. The place is actually very small itself. The gym is also very gross, with the locker rooms smelling worse then any other Planet Fitness I've been in and a general level of uncleanliness throughout. Very disappointed.

I like to exercise in the morning so I normally go mornings. Since I’m retired I I can always go anytime I want. I use the treadmills most. I also use the weights. I exercise and stay in the gym about 45 minutes, more or less.

I used to love this place but their need a new management asap. Many equipment needing maintenance. I least 3 equipments out for service for 3 weeks or more and thei don’t offer free water for two weeks a least, the fountain drink is out of service for three weeks two. That’s the minimum the everybody wait for a gym, some spot to fill up their water bottles.

There is only one Water fountain and it is been broken for more than a week. And employees are rude saying that customers should buy if they want hydration! Insane attitude. This gym definitely doesn't care about humans or customers.

Staff members often congregate behind the front desk to chit chat and people watch, instead of focusing on cleaning and general maintenance. Restroom counters wet from water usage were left unattended. It is common practice for gym employees to periodically sanitize restroom wash areas. It doesn't appear to be the norm here. This facility does not honor a free day pass trial as stated in Planet Fitness's company website. I was charged $20 for a day pass. Compare this to the $10 monthly membership fee. The gym in San Bruno is also very small. Be prepared to wait awhile and sprint to the equipment you want when it becomes unoccupied! 🤣
