My experience in planet fitness has been pretty good. I very much appreciate the hydro bed because my fiance uses it for her back injury and it helps her a lot 💗.

Sometimes the employees forget that I asked for 2 sessions in the hydro and it becomes an awkward/uncomfortable moment when I'm expecting the second session and someone comes and tells me to get off.

Straight up one star because of the sign-in sheet. I know the reason they do it, I just don't care for it. It's annoying, point blank period. If the second I walk in your doors I get annoyed by your place's policies, that's it I don't like your place. Done. One star because zero isn't an option.

On top of that the layout is weird to say the least, the tunnel to get to the lockers blends in the background and because there is two different sections which have the treadmill type equipment you kind of hesitate thinking you're looking in a mirror and don't want to look dumb walking into it but yeah no that is just a second section and the lockers are over there.

Newer machines so that's nice, but only if you care about having your own personal screen on the treadmills. If you're more of a weights person, then it's a meh point.

The machines are super crammed together, frankly feels like a safety hazard.

Showers have that semi-see through glass instead of a curtain so I hope you don't have body image issues.

Only positive note I can say is this place finally figure out a decent locker room layout. Minimal mirrors in traffic areas that lead to and from the showers so when people inevitably take pictures and videos in the locker room regardless of the no photos zone signs everywhere, there is significantly less risk of your naked butt ending up in someone's Instagram feed.

Next time, I don't care if this location is closer after work, I'm going to my home location.

Just came in for a day to check out the machines and any other amenities they offer. It was very clean and a good amount of natural light comes into the gym. They have a decent selection of machines especially for a planet fitness, I wish they had another leg press machine. A lot of cardio equipment which is kind of a waste of space but that is the standard model for the large chains. The machines are well maintained and decent force curves for hypertrophy for most of them.

I’ve enjoyed this gym until today when I went in, there was a new tall black guy at front desk, he didn’t even bother saying hello or greeting me, I had to scan my phone myself. I going it very unprofessional, he has a bad attitude with everyone, very unfriendly, he was checking his phone when I got in. All other staff are very friendly and professional except this dude. Not sure what his problem is.

I use the San Marcos as my home gym cuz they're the best cleanest and have the most friendly well-mannered staff

Jonathan the manager over there runs a really good gym, and it shows even when he's not there cuz the people he's left in charge are very respectful, very friendly and accommodate your needs..

I am a traveling man and have been to alot of different Planet Fitness locations with my fantastic Black card membership. For the most part I see the same fine equipment offered at all locations...This San Marcos location has the best water pressure and water temperature I have encountered. And rather than having the plastic purple shower curtains, it has the glass door. The lockers have dial locks. The staff is friendly.

Second time this year, I’ve come at 5am and no employee is here yet. At this moment it is 5:16am…they open at 5am. Aside from that, this gym gets the job done and is pretty empty most of the time.

And again no one was at the facility at the open time. Jan 2025. Very frustrating, especially since the gym is pretty empty at the only time I can go. But may be looking for another solution. I hope this gets resolved for those who are staying.

Great gym to go to especially if you are a beginner. Price is great and very affordable compared to other gym. They don't offer closed captioning on their brand new treadmill TVs that have a button for it and the capability. Half of the TVs don't even work. Also, their exercise mats are falling apart and disgusting. I had to wipe off my pants after using them because I was covered in little pieces of the black foam and pieces of paper towel from the last time it was wiped down. This looks like an updated location, but don't be fooled because it is not.

Great gym located in a strip mall with some great stores (Aldi, Dollar Store, UPS, Dry Cleaners). This place is SUPER clean and the clientele all seem nice and respectful of one another. The only downside is that there aren't any group fitness classes but there's a big room at the end of the gym that has medicine balls, weights, bosu balls, foam rollers, etc that you can use to do a core, yoga, or stretch workout. I'd like them to add a few more fans since their cardio equipment doesn't have built in fans. Great value!

Don't like this location. Shower curtains are sus. Unfamiliar lockers. No need to bring a lock of your own. These lockers have set in combination locks.

Average for a planet fitness. Some nice equipment, something could be better. One leg machine was broken with no sign. One half of the gym by the treadmills was absolutely freezing cold. Overall, definitely not as clean as it should be. Floor in locker room was full of dirt piles - at 5 something a.m. (clearly wasn't cleaned before they opened). Someone rated the shower as 11/10, I disagree. Not enough hot water, pressure was almost decent but certainly not worthy of an 11/10. Hours are okay, better than some locations but not 24 hours like other locations.

I forgot how much having access to a nice gym meant to me, and this one hits all the marks.

The staff are friendly and helpful- very present. The equipment is clean and in great condition. It has all the variety I love! The black card is worth it for the spa access.

The main reason why I'm giving a 5 star rating is because of Jonathan R. He's very kind, personable, always has a great attitude and a smile on his face. He should definitely be recognized for his excellent customer service skills. You can really tell he enjoys working there. The gym in general is always clean and the staff is always clean which I very much appreciate. The rest of the staff is kind and friendly as well. They all seem to interact well with each other and the always seem like they're having a good time which gives off a great vibe throughout the gym. But most importantly I really wanted to say how awesome Jonathan R. is, he's a true asset and I will continue to come to this location and recommend this gym/location because of him.

I’ve been coming to planet fitness for about 2 years now. Everyday I bring my tiny bag in and all of sudden I get interrupted during my workout to put my bag away because it’s a “tripping hazard”. NEVER has anyone ever mentioned to me that is was against their policy and I’ve been to many different planet fitnesses and have been coming to this specific one for 4 months now. Everyone has their water bottles, dumbbells, and hats on the floor. I was in a tiny corner and yet I’m the only one who got singled out. The girl that told me is not welcoming; she never says hi when you come in, and always has the rudest/ nastiest look on her face. I hated when I saw that she was working at the front the days I would come in cause of her unwelcoming vibe. I will contact corporate on this matter

Wouldn’t recommend this gym unless you wanna be harassed by creepy old men or the male workers. The supposed manager is a literal man baby, (Jose Cruz looking at you) and will have a power trip if you bring up issues. I had an issue with some older man who made me uncomfortable and I said something. My boyfriend told the gym we’d be back the next day to hand in our complaint letters, but this older man complained first and Jose cancelled my boyfriends membership stating a “policy violation” before we even came back. He never read our complaint statements and refused to do so because he already made up his mind. He doesn’t have conflict resolution skills and will get flustered as you question him. Apparently whoever owns this planet fitness doesn’t care about the complaints or wellbeing of their members. My boyfriend and I reached out about our treatment at the hands of the PF staff. That was a few months ago and we never heard back. It was hard enough trying to find someone to contact because the staff refused to give me contact information. I ended up demanding they cancel my membership too and they put the reasoning as a “policy violation.” This place is a total joke.
