The gym is pretty good. It's clean and the people at the front desk are very helpful. I would like it if they added more escalators. There are at least 60 treadmills and only 5 escalators (one breaks down a lot). When I want to use one of the escalators, they are already packed. It would be more convenient to have more escalators available. Other than that, the gym is good.

Dirty gym! The bathroom is nasty it makes me want to throw up. The staff are so so rude and unwelcoming. They often flirt with each other, eat or play on their phone. NEVER a hello or goodbye. The managers are also unprofessional as well. All they do is stare at people and never say hello or goodbye. They just joke around with their employees without acknowledging customers.

Judgement free doesn't mean you should be disrespectful by playing your music loudly or having ridiculously loud conversations. It's a gym, not the club, but management does not care. This "club" is not neurodivergent friendly, they will not accommodate your needs. You just have to tiptoe around others and the same will not be afforded to you. And yes, I politely asked staff if they could ask the two women screaming at each other in conversation (despite sitting NEXT to each other in a very empty gym), to lower their volume a little because I could clearly hear them thru my earbuds. They had no solution for me, just brushed me off. Seriously hating this location. Makes me miss the Richmond/El Cerrito location because people weren't disrespectful there. The gym should be a safe space for neurodivergent folks too, but instead the people who are inconsiderate get to do as they please.

Also, the bathrooms are disgusting as hell. Shit everywhere (all over the toilets) and bunches of hair in the sinks. This might be San Pablo, but do better.
I sincerely regret getting my membership here. It's the worst gym experience of my life. People are inconsiderate as hell and do intimidate you to move even if you've barely used a machine. No gymtimidation? That's a lie.

The showers in the girls lockerooms have short curtains. They leave a 4 inch gap on BOTH sides wide enough for you to clearly see whoever is in there showering. The showers constantly need maintenance and the male employees have constantly entered the locker room while women are showering including myself. It is incredibly uncomfortable and does not feel safe. I asked the employees about getting wider curtains and they claimed to have already submitted the order "over a year ago" and that there's "nothing they can do". Heavily considering cancelling my membership and using a different gym because I do not feel Planet Fitness values customer privacy or safety

My issue is with the staff. Many of them have acted childishly in how they choose to handle situations where, for instance, I fell asleep on the hydro bed on accident. After working out and getting a massage it is easy to slip up, but the attitude and response I got for doing that was childish and unwarranted.

They also have new hires who haven't wasted anytime being just as annoying and rude when handling things. I actually spoke to a guy to tell him that the sanitizer machine wasn't working and he just said that he was new so he don't know what do. Instead, he could've took initiative and just asked someone else who did. Nothing wrong with not knowing but to use being new as an excuse is just weak.

Anyway, I then told the lady at the from desk and she said she'd look into it only to not do anything at all because for a couple of weeks it still didn't work. Meaning she did nothing.

It works now, weeks later, but I didn't get around to leaving this review until now so I still feel the need to add that bit because something tells me that since the manager has come around, which he wasn't at first, that's the only reason it's been handled. The overall attitudes of the staff are unpleasant, and this facility never has candy like the other ones do. Maybe that's part of the problem.

The staff at the other Planet Fitness not too far away is completely different. They're alot friendlier there, they always have sanitizer, the locker room and bathrooms stay clean and they have candy! No one wants to deal with stank unenthused attitudes. Find another job if the current one is such a drag. People don't want to deal with the 3rd degree bullshît.

This is a clean and well maintained Planet Fitness location. It has good quality exercise equipment. My go tos are the elliptical, treadmill, and stair climber. It's stocked plenty of free weights, kettle bells, weight balls, etc... pretty much anything you need to get in a great workout of your choice.

So first off, the staff that works here is awesome. They're very friendly and helpful.

My issues are with the corporate / ownership side. They don't seem to adjust the gym to what people are actually using. There are the same number of 25lb dumb bells as there are 80lb dumb bells which is ridiculous when it's impossible to get the 20-40 lb range during any sort of peak hours. There's also way more cardio machines than I have ever seen in use, so they could reduce the space those take for more weights.

People here also tend to hoarde weights or try to "save" large numbers of machines. It's not uncommon to see someone with 4 or 5 different weights around them sitting on their phone for 5 minutes but they will get very offended if you ask if they're still using something. Similarly for machines some people will get upset they left a paper towel or a plastic water bottle on a machine to hold it and left for five to ten minutes and someone came along and used it, even during peak hours.

I've also frequently had people have very loud phone conversations for upwards of 20 minutes, sometimes yelling into their phone on speaker phone. I wish staff was empowered to kick these people out because if I can hear you through the music in my headphones, it's ridiculous.

There is frequently at least one cable machine broken of the five they have, which can really make working out suck when it's even mildly crowded. Repairs seems to take a week or more which seems like corporate cheapness.

The app they have is basically useless for knowing how crowded it is.

Overall, you get what you pay for, it's cheap and well located, but I can't recommend this if you want to work out in evenings or other peak hours.

I swiched from my other gym to planet fitness bc it's literally 3 min away from my house. Been coming to the gym for 2 weeks and I'm switching back to my old gym. The front desk don't even look at you when u check in, they are always on their phone. I asked one of the employees of they had a t bar row and his response was " we are planet fitness bro, we ain't anytime fitness". I mean what do you expect for $25 a month right.

I really appreciate this gym. I moved to this gym from Pinole and Richmond due to the gym maintenance condition and lack of member control in the other gyms. This gym appears to be well maintained and members are respectful and much better at working out in a gym environment. (thumbs up).

Second time here , front desk is not friendly I had to asked them how are you all doing !! They were busy talking with them selves . The second time I came the bathroom is dirty and the sinks has molds and other trash in it !!
I put my shower bag and came to find out it’s missing I am like I am sure it was there while I was using the bathroom I am looking everywhere I am like come on did they trash it !!????
I look by the trash can it’s sitting by the edge of it . This is insane you are trashing someone’s belonging , the guy was just mopping the floors that is all he did and walked out !!
They need to get their ducks in order .

I used to work out at Planet Fitness, then I tried other gyms in the area who cost me way more money and did not have anything like what my black card membership offers. Not only that but while at Planet Fitness, I achieved the highest level of physical fitness I've ever had. I came today to register for this group and I was treated very poorly by the girls working on the computer at the reception. I asked for help to register for the gym, but I did not find any help from them. Just on cue, go and sit there and I was treated very badly. I didn't expect this. I just joined planet fitness yesterday and I am not happy at all with my membership and it hasn’t even been 24 hours yet. Employees on their phones, when you call to speak to the manager they say the manager is on lunch call back in 30 minutes, I call back 2 hours later girl said manager is at lunch call back in 30 minutes I said I just did that, I called back it’s been 2 hours how long does he go on lunch? My point is they need to hire adults. Not to mention the girl at 5am this morning didn’t know what she was talking about when I ask her about the trainer or what time I could meet with them. This place is filthy mcnasty and so is the Pinole location! There’s barely any paper towel or spray to clean the machines after use the bathrooms are gross there’s no telling what’s hiding in the showers after seeing all of this… it’s just unsanitary completely and any place that cannot be well kept needs to be shut down! There’s entirely too many people coming in and out for it not to be cleaned. Beyond gross! Poop on toilets and in toilets just nasty…Obviously workers are doing nothing but sitting around and looking because they’re definitely not lifting a finger and whoever the manager is they surely are !not! managing it well! A disgrace!

I am 85 years old. In September 2021 I joined the San Pablo CA Planet Fitness. My trainer, Corey is amazing. He works me hard, but this is what I need. Eddie, the manager has been very supportive, as had the rest of the staff. I go Mon., Tues., Thursday, and Friday. The site is kept spotless. I have lost my big stomach and am thrilled. Picture 1 was in September and picture 2 was in April.

Pros:
-8 out of 10 visits, the facilities are clean, the spray bottles are full, the trash can levels are maintained, etc.
-large gym with many machines
-the guys at the front desk are super nice with hellos and ‘have a good workout!’
-Paper towels in the bathroom! Not all PF’s have paper towels in the bathroom but this place does thank goodness.

Cons:
-Long wait time (up to 30min) for various machines (people sit on their phones at machines a LOT). I’ll update with a better photo when I get one - I could easily get a photo with all four hip machines in use but with people just sitting at them on their phones. Leg press too - that one is always a big wait.
-the ladies behind the front desk serve attitude, if they even acknowledge you. I’ve seen them on their phones, earbuds in, eating goldfish and not even look up. If I do ask a question, it’s as if I’ve greatly inconvenienced them. Haven’t caught a guy doing this yet… not trying to just single out the ladies but so far that’s who it’s been.
-Water bottle station has been broken for a minnnnute. We need that water! Should be a same-day priority.

First off, I live in Georgia, and I'm giving this gym the max stars I can give on this site. Doctors say going to the gym and exercising can help you live longer, etc. Well, I can actually say this particular location does that. You see several weeks ago, on Thursday, June 22, 2023, my brother, age 58, who just had a birthday on the 7-15, had been going to this gym for a while. While there, he had a sudden, without any warning, massive heart attack. When he collapsed, the Mgr. ED immediately ran to him and saw that he wasn't breathing or had any pulse. He was literally dead!
ED started chest compressions. The other members of the team grabbed the AED and called 911. From the first shock by staff and him reaching the ER with the paramedics, he had to be shocked a total of 5 times, not to mention the continuous CPR, which had been started by the staff. When I spoke with the ER Dr., who didn't expect him to make it through the night, and then the cardiologist, who had concerns about his brain activity if he did wake up, all state that if not for the quick response of the gym stafff, he wouldn’t have made it. So with that, I want to thank the staff, they didn't stand around, or take videos to put on the internet, and far as I can tell they didn't let anyone else, as we see so many times now days. They are true professionals, and I want to thank Planet Fitness for their training and hiring of the staff. I especially want to thank the following. Ed, Jimmy, Jadon, Angelo, Aldo, Corey, and Evelyn. Not only did they take care of him, but also all of his personal property, and had it all together when I came by to see them the following week. So, if you have any health issues or not and are exercising, no matter if you have been doing it for years or are new, I highly recommend you come here. The staff here will take care of you professionally, without hesitation, and are pretty frendley. My brother is doing very well, and as I stated, had his 58th birthday recently. Again, thank you to the staff. You all are Hero's.
