I went today and used the 30 minute circuit training equipment, which has signs posted with rules that users are to use a machine and do a set and then MOVE to another piece of equipment. This area is adjacent to the front counter, meaning the associates can easily see the people in the area.

As usual, a member comes from the free weight area and proceeds to sit at a machine and do multiple sets and to play on their phone while they hog up the equipment. I asked the person to move on and they said they had many more sets and I explained to this member that you are supposed to do a set and move on to another set as it’s a circuit and I was trying to complete my circuit. She didn’t care. So I went to the PF associate at the counter and asked her to have the member move on so I could finish my circuit and the associate asked the member “how many more sets do you have”. Member told PF associate “I have 2 more sets”. What followed baffled me. PF associate told member who was not following rules “I have to ask you to finish and move on. I’m not sure why this guy (me) is complaining, but if you can finish and let him workout he will stop complaining”

No, I’m not randomly complaining, I want PF to enforce their rules and I want to complete my workout without delays.

When I finished my 1 set that took 30 seconds, I went to the front desk and asked the same PF associate to talk to a manager. I was told after waiting for 5 minutes that Matt (the manager) was cleaning equipment and it would be awhile before he could come up to talk.

Needless to say that PF has rules that they either don’t care to enforce or worse, pick and choose who and when they will apply them.

Next time this happens I’ll just blast off and cuss out the person who disrupts my workout and maybe then I’ll get some traction.

The staff at this PF are great! But I feel like the facilities need improvement. I usually go to Arroyo Grande during the school year, but I go to SM occasionally due to it being close to home. Compared to Lompoc, AG, and SLO, this PF would benefit with the new equipment. The new manager (Matt) is super helpful and answered my questions. I'm excited to see the new machines come next May!

I called and eventually visited this gym to inquire about a temporary membership since I was working in the area for a week or two. Joshua(Assistant Manager) was very helpful, courteous, and professional. He never sounded like he was in a rush or too busy to talk, which is rare nowadays.

Upon visiting, the front desk was helpful and attentive. The equipment was clean and maintained and did not see any machines that were broken. They have a nice area for stretching as well. Although the gym was well trafficked, I didn’t feel like we were packed in like sardines.

I would recommend if anybody is looking for a gym in Santa Maria.

Out of all the Planet Fitness locations I’ve visited, this one held its own pretty well. The Black Card Guest section felt updated and fresh, featuring things like the total body enhancement machine, upright tanning booths, hydro massages, and more. I was greeted warmly at the front desk with staff seeming genuinely friendly. While the surrounding neighborhood isn’t exactly ideal, I’ve definitely come across gyms in rougher spots. All in all, this gym turned out to be a surprisingly enjoyable stop!

I came to Santa Maria to visit family and wanted to get a workout in while I was here. Unfortunately, I was shocked by how run-down this gym was. The parking situation is a stretch, the machines are noticeably older, and the abs/stretching area is extremely small -- not enough space for more than a couple of people to lay down mats, especially with machines crammed into the same spot.

The front desk staff were not welcoming at all. I felt like I was bothering them just by checking in and asking to use the hydro-bed. Overall, a disappointing experience. This location really needs some updates and better customer service.

I’m a truck driver so parking is always the first concern and this locations property is too small, I did park in the back of next doors shopping center and walked and it didn’t seem to be a problem. Hot shower, water fountain was not cold, equipment all seemed up to par and clean. I have to give an honest review, the water fountain and the fact it was so crowded you literally couldn’t get on a machine or have room to stand and use dumbbells, everything was full. This area needs a larger location for sure, one that has two of every machine and larger locker room

I signed up about 3 months ago and made the right decision to join PF. The facilities is suffice for most workouts and levels. Can’t beat the $25 monthly unlimited membership. PF is a good workout environment and clean. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Alex at the front desk is wonderful. The gym itself is very nice. The problem are the showers in the men’s room. There are only two that go overhead which we don’t like and in the handicap shower the holder for the hand showerhead has been broken for months. In the women’s showers I personally dislike the weak overhead showers. In the women’s, it would also be wonderful to have a shelf in the women’s locker room at the mirror.

I’m disappointed at the way feedback and suggestions are nearly impossible to address. The water filter at this location has not been changed, I filled my water bottle up, when I tasted it, it tasted funny. I poured it out, the water appeared yellow.
Two big issue, 1) Feedback, comments and suggestions should easily be addressed on the app. 2) Please look into the log of when filters are changed.

If you enjoy sitting on poo and pee and stepping all over it then this is the place to go the restrooms are ridiculous I been to many planet fitnesses and this one tops the nastiest. It’s constantly dirty i see workers on their phone including management every-time i come in. I wonder why nothing gets done as it should, Im sorry but I don’t see this location lasting anytime soon if the company doesn't get onto there proper standings then maybe theres a chance. I don't enjoy going into the mens restroom and seeing clothes and trash on the ground day or night. And don’t get me started with their parking lot & location. And someone needs to stop the people from smoking in the restrooms in the gym that’s ridiculous too.
And I told management already before too so please don't tell me to contact my local gym. This is the owners job now to step up. I said my part & everyone else’s part too who couldn't speak up.

Wellllll, tired to cancel my membership a year ago due to an illness and hospitalization a YEAR ago. I did it in writing several times, according to their website instructions since I literally could not walk. They kept on charging me and so I was finally able to go to the location and they tell me they can’t cancel because I somehow have a balance of $80 because they never received ANY of my cancellation requests but they still have my card info and still been charging me so how do I have a balance. I come from a "world class athlete" background in my youth and now I'm just an old (fat) retired guy. I love the "No Judgements" approach as it keeps someone like me, who just loves to come in and do my thing, coming back. :) I'm really enjoying my Planet Fitness experience so far and it's easy to observe many others at different stages of their fitness lifetimes enjoying this facility as well. Well managed, very nice, helpful people who can work with you on any level or just leave you alone to do your thing. Love Kae and Richee. Kae is awesome! I signed up online for the black card membership about 2 months ago and she was so welcoming and friendly as soon as we stepped in the door. She took us around, giving a tour of the gym floor, black card perks, and showed us the various ins and outs of the app. She was very thorough and makes a genuine effort to remember people’s names, which makes the gym feel more personable. My 14yr old daughter comes as my plus 1 sometimes and she always asks… ‘Is Kae gonna be there? 😊’ That pretty much sums it up.

When I first started going to Planet Fitness I was impressed with the cleanliness of the gym and bathrooms. Now the toilets are gross and are never cleaned. The rims of the toilets are so gross I avoid using them. There are no toilet seat covers and sometimes there is no toilet paper. I was told they no longer provide seat covers. Planet Fitness should really work on sanitizing the bathrooms and providing set covers in order to keep customers coming back. No one wants to use a dirty bathroom.

I been at the gym approximately for 3 years, with nothing but a wonderful experience. Friday the 25th & the so called “AM” was so rude, never bothered to look up or speak when members come in for greeting. Had a situation with AM when I let him know about a problem then he proceeded to tell me to go handle the situation myself of a dead kitten right in front of planet fitness, and then kept proceeding to walk away, right then and there I was ready to walk out and never come back. I don’t appreciate this disrespectful attitude of this Assistant Manager named RAUL. & has been noticed before & I’m not the only one everyone else here & staff are absolutely wonderful & respectful.
