The workout area is adequate. The mens locker room is terrible. 2 out of 3 shower stalls have broken handles so you cannot adjust the temperature. If there is not a lot of activity in the gym, there is a high risk of being scalded like I was. Would not recommend to anyone I care about.

UPDATE- Strike 3. Again, the gym was too warm. I asked one of the front counter people named Violet to lower the temperature. She is the same person I asked previously to lower the temperature. Previously, she gave me lip service and said she would, but she didn’t. This time she got very defensive and told me to get away from the counter area because I was too close, and then proceeded to tell me in a very unconfident manner that the assistant manager won’t let them change the temperature. I believe Violet keeps the gym at the temperature she likes it at, not what is best for the members.

Violet needs to be fired, management you probably know this and are too weak to do it.

I’ve been to many Planet Fitness locations this year and Violet is the worst employee I’ve met, by far.

I’ve been to about 50 Planet Fitness locations… The first time I went here the bathrooms were out of order. The second time I went it was way too warm inside… the third time may be strike three?? It is very nice and clean, but seems to lack proper overall management.

Overall, this is a decent gym with good space and equipment options, as well as mostly friendly staff. The biggest drawback is the limited availability of StairMasters. The gym only has six of them, and sometimes one is out of order, which makes it even harder to get on one. Even on weekends when the gym is noticeably less busy, it’s still difficult to find one open. Meanwhile, there are always rows of treadmills and ellipticals sitting empty (roughly 30+).

To give an example, I was able to take the time to sit down and write this review for about 10+ minutes before a StairMaster finally opened up. In the meantime, my fiancé had to settle for a treadmill instead just so we could stay on schedule with our day.

Given the consistent demand, it would make sense to reallocate some of those underused machines and add more StairMasters to better meet member needs. If the StairMaster is your go-to workout, you may want to look elsewhere.

I’ve been to many gyms in Tennessee, Missouri and even Washington state. I’ve been going to this gym for over a year now. I like this gym everything from the cleanliness of the gym to the friendly staff who work there particularly on the Weekdays. Today as a black card member I decided to bring in a guest on a SATURDAY. We walked in and the girl at the desk did not welcome us as she was flirting with another guy. We said “good morning!”but didnt we get a reply, smile or nod so we just shrugged it off and continued on to our workout. 1 hour later we decided to use the hydromassage. The weekday staff who know me always let me right in but not today. For the first time this new girl who didn’t greet us told me to show proof of my Black card membership. If she had paid attention when we were checking in she would have seen my BC membership. Anyways when I showed her “proof” then she told me that my guest was not allowed in the hydromassage area. So should I leave my invited guest waiting outside ? Everything from entering the PF gym to not allowing my guest to Hydromassage area just pissed me off. I would give a 5 star because of your welcoming WEEKDAY staff but your weekend staff’s lack of customer skills and unfriendliness is the only reason I’m giving this place a 3 star.

This is a disgusting gym … the bathroom always has hair everywhere.. workers may hit on you while working out show you picture of themselves and joy may be lucky in a tanning bed or parking lot !! Treat staff and customers with no respect and if you say something you will be cancelled… sewage and hydro beds smell like mold because water never clean in them !!!oh and also the manager is never available… has said numerous times he doesn’t want to listen to customers or he will cancel with no violations not committed … forged peoples signatures has no respect for customers staff or he gets offended.. there have been way too many men complaining about being very uncomfortable working out there also women!!!! I wish I could give a better review. Some of the staff here are great. The long time employees are very professional and always greet me. Sadly, I can’t say the same is true about some of the newer members.

Much of the equipment is serviceable. However, two of the hamstring machines have been out of service for over a month. See photos.

Finally, they don’t have much in the way of auxiliary equipment that is available at other locations. No Swiss balls, bosu, bands, etc.

lunk alarm is super sensitive now. Plates of weight hit the top of machine not so hard and the alarm goes on. Your radio with horrible music is more louder then the plates. If they keep bugging me I’ll just switch gyms although this has only happened to me once. This gym sucks now. I prefer the RP one

I've been going to this location for quite a while now. I guess there's an issue with their plumbing because the bathrooms are OFTEN shut down. idk who goes to the gym for an hour or so and doesn't use the bathroom so it's pretty inconvenient. not to mention if you go before work and want to shower after your workout.... if the bathrooms are shut down that day, you're out of luck.

Lazy staff . . . and with the fake attitude when you bring neglect to their attention. My home area is the Central Valley and been a member for about 6 years, Been to gyms between the above and Oregon and this is the worst when it comes to maintaining cleanliness. Asked the staff about an hour before writing this, to fill about 3 empty bottles of disinfectant across the floor and zero effort. Skip this location if you can.

I’ve been a member for a couple years and have worked out at both the SR and Petaluma locations. For the price, I’d give more stars for what you get and the front desk/management has always been welcoming and friendly but the recent change in management has been 👎 You can no longer lift heavy or the manager will tell paying members to leave and threaten to cancel your membership if he hears the weights being set down. Even when it unintentionally makes sound. BIG difference than slamming weights. I hope other people who witness this leave reviews or speak to a supervisor so this guy can learn how to do his job instead of harassing club members.

Great gym fairly clean, but smaller and expect to wait for some if the equipment. Lots of treadmill and elliptical machines. Locker is pretty clean. All the chairs in the front lobby loose and several machines out of order during last visit, but one of the cleaner gyms you will come across in Santa Rosa. Good parking.

They get you to sign up by their so called sales or promotions. Then when you sign up they lock you into a year contract and continue to take money out of your checking account whether you have the money or not. Gym is usually always full and hard to find any machines to work out on. I will be much more careful on selecting a gym next time. Would not recommend.

I've enjoyed coming this location, it does get busy here during peak hours, which is to be expected.

I wish this location had kettle bells and a hip thrust machine, it would just be nice to not have to use the Smith machines for hip thrusts. I have noticed that there are some machines in front of the treadmills closest to the back of the gym that aren't really used, this location might consider removing some of these for some updated machines/equipment.

Other than that, it's a decent place to work out for the price.

The bathroom is almost never working due to lack of water, so I have to spend the entire workout without being able to go to the bathroom. My wife comes to the gym after driving for an hour and a half when she finishes work and can't train because she needs to use the bathroom. What a shame!

Planet Fitness on Santa Rosa Avenue, as a gym, has unfortunately let me down. While their membership prices can be reasonable the overall atmosphere and organization don’t meet the standards of a well-kept, spirited gym environment.

As part of a franchise, over 90% of Planet Fitness locations are owned and operated by independent business owners. Originally founded by Michael and Marc Grondahl, the franchise took its name "Planet Fitness" in 2002 after acquiring the rights from Rick Berks, who had created a gym under that name in 1993 in Florida, inspired by his daughter’s school project titled "Fitness Planet." Planet Fitness now owns over 2,600 clubs and 19.6 million members worldwide, with locations in the U.S., Canada, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Mexico, and Australia.

The company prides itself on being a "Judgment-Free Zone" and enforces various policies to foster a welcoming environment. However, my experience has not reflected this.

One downside is the inability to capture photos of the facility, which makes it hard to visually show some of the issues I’ve observed. For example, the locker rooms consistently lack cleanliness. I've seen hair clumped on walls and drains, loose hair ties, and a missing hook for your towel in one of the showers. Powdery footprints are often visible in the changing rooms, and the sinks are frequently soaked. It’s disappointing to see this lack of upkeep when members are paying for a clean and comfortable space.

Furthermore, the showers continue showing an inconvenience. For example, when someone flushes the toilet, the water briefly stops—a frustrating experience, especially with multiple flushes in a row. There have been instances where hot water wasn’t available, forcing my guest and me to take cold showers. These maintenance issues take away from the gym experience and are uncomfortable for members.

The friendliness from employees is mixed. Many don’t greet members upon arrival, though two of the morning staff, one with black hair and another with blonde, are notably kind and energetic. Their positivity adds a much-needed warmth to the environment, and I appreciate their presence.

The equipment is standard and generally meets my needs, with treadmills seeming to be the most popular choice among members. This location operates 24 hours on Tuesday through Thursday, with limited hours on other days, which is convenient for varied schedules. They offer two membership tiers: the Black Card and the Classic. The Black Card, currently around $30 monthly, allows access to any facility and includes guest privileges, massage chairs, tanning beds, and hydromassage. The Classic membership, which I have, costs $10 a month and is limited to the home facility—a fair deal considering the price.

There is handicapped parking spaces right in front of the gym as well as a crosswalk to get over safely especially during traffic hours. Planet Fitness has a spacious parking lot that even goes behind their building. The only thing I would also keep aware of is the security guards of this parking lot. They are incredibly rude and could use more proper training. Planet Fitness is in the middle of a pub being next to Beer, Wine, and Spirits and near other stores like REI, Party City, and Mod Pizza.

While the affordability is a plus in this economy, I might consider other options if not for the price. One highlight, however, is that the members—especially women—are respectful and maintain a sense of personal space, both in the locker room and the gym floor, which I really appreciate. And, on the days when the water is warm, a quick post-work shower is a nice convenience.

Overall, to the manager of this specific Planet Fitness, I urge you to focus on areas of improvement, particularly cleanliness and facility maintenance, while keeping up the strengths mentioned. Thank you, and good luck!

RUN AWAY from this gym. I have the contract stating that I can cancel
Anytime! Called in August to cancel and the gentleman told me my membership was canceled moving forward a 3 weeks I get charged! So I call and ask why it wasn’t cancel Lee the manager stated they cant cancel over the phone and I have to pay cause I didn’t cancel by the 10th! Which isn’t stated in my contract! Then he proceeded to cancel and I get charged again! He stated since I didn’t get canceled by the 10th of the month that it’s my fault when it’s a cancel anytime. Not to mention I’m medically not able to work out right now but they don’t care they are just money hungry! Don’t give them your card info or they just gunna keep charging you even after you cancel

I paid a visit to them last Friday and I was shocked when I saw the sign posted, "shower and restrooms closed" ! .When I approached the lady behind the counter and asked when they will fix the shower room, she mentioned hopefully by Monday!! It takes 3 days to fix the problem? I walked out of the gym absolutely disappointed of bad management. Avoid signing up with them until they straighten their priorities. I also tried to contact their corporate office but the same answering machine comes up in different branches! I left a message with my name and number but unfortunately no one got back to me. I do not recommend them until they fix their problems. 👎

I have checked this place several times. At the beginning I was accompanied by my female associate and we both agreed that the planet fitness has lots of problems. First of all, at night the water was cold and I couldn't even shower. I noticed hairs all over the area. The worst came when at the second visit they broke into my associate's locker and later on when we approached the gym front desk employee, she surprisingly had no knowledge for the incident or any solution. They then referred us to daytime supervisor Lee. Several attempts to reach him were fruitless. Bad odor with some broken machines and the wash basins were absolutely dirty. On top of that, good luck if you try to shave. The water stops frequently and makes it so hard to do the simple tasks. Also, I have to mention the water pressure was low.

There are plenty of parking lots available. They are open 24 hours 3 days a week, but they close friday at 10pm and 7pm for saturday and Sunday so don't fall for the title of 24 hours. I do not recommend this place to gym lovers until they improve, upgrade and create a healthier environment for their clients! Avoid the place!

This is one of the nicest gyms I've had membership to since being a college student and having access to campus facilities. The staff members are really nice and the gym is ALWAYS clean. Members do a great job of wiping down equipment and cleaning up after themselves. Haven't been disappointed once in the 6 months I've had membership. Massage coin chairs are great after workout (each coin is about 5min deep massage) , and then vibra machine max is 12min. with red light therapy.. really a great way to relax after a workout n getting kinks out. Changing my review because you guys added some days that are 24 hours. I decided to join yesterday and went at 11pm. It is smaller than the RP location but the equipment is there. I only joined because it has some days that are 24 hours. I do wish they had M-F on 24 hours instead of just a few days but it is what it is. As long as they don’t get rid of those 24 hour days I’ll stay but if they add more 24 hours days then I’ll greatly appreciate that. I’m just happy to be able to go to the gym at night again because In my opinion night time is the best time because less people

I enjoyed this gym very much. The hours are not for everyone, but it is pretty big and welcoming. I'm a First time member, and i scanned in on my phone and had to wait a bit because they had to get a picture of me to avoid pass sharing im assuming. After my picture, I asked for a little tour to calm down any nerves. There are sanitation stations to wipe down the equipment after use, but I like to sanitize before and after just in case.

They have lockers, water fountains with the smart tap to refill water bottles, and men and women bathrooms. They have the machines pointed to what I counted a total of 25 tvs with different programs and closed captions on, no sound. It is well ventilated with giant industrial fans, but you shouldn't be feeling it too much when you're working out.

Dumbells max out at 75lbs, and the lightest they have is 3lbs. Everything seems to be organized and they have a nice little corener that I liked because it's isolated, which was the Abs & Stretching corner. They do play some music, that I suppose is to pump you up, but it wasn't my cup of tea. It seems that most people have proper gym etiquette of not using their phones on their machines for too long, and I don't think hogging a machine will be much of a problem as there are plenty around.

A lot of people are new, so try not to stare as they try to figure out how to use the machines. If it pains you to see them struggle, or If you're worried they'll hurt themselves, then try to offer a hand instead of judging. Pretty sure many won't be bothered, but yet, a lot of people like to be left alone.

The only con that I experienced was outside of the gym. It is a packed little shopping center, and will be packed with lots of traffic on the streets when the new In-N-Out opens, so do be weary of that. Also, there was plenty of traffic when I was heading out. The traffic lights have terrible timing, for instance: I was behind someone, and it turned green, and not even three seconds later, it turns yellow, and I barely made a left turn, and the person behind me had to run a red because screw that.

At the time of this post, there are some construction fences on the left side of the building, so it forces one to yield as the space allows for only one car to go through at a time. This isn't something PF can control but I'd like to let everyone know what they're in for.
