This is the best Planet Fitness gym of all the others surrounding. I frequent different locations depending on where I wake up :). This one is the cleanest, friendliest staff and the showers work properly. Whoever manages this one needs to become a regional manager to tidy up the others and fix their showers. Staff are amazing here and always greet me with a smile. The environment is clean and paper towels are always stocked. The people here are amazing and don’t hog up the machines. This is my experience when I go in the morning around 6am so I can’t speak for how the evening looks, but overall I’m pleased. I love PF.

To anyone considering a membership at planet fitness, there's no ifs buts or maybes, hands down an all around phenomenol gym...ideal amenities, reasonable pricing, & the "go to" and thats largely in part due to the staff that runs it. At this location I gotta give a shout out to Sergio & Ricardo in particular who went above and beyond the norm not only providing a welcoming environment, making sure I had an enjoyable visit but also looking out to ensure I was good to go for the road. I've been to other locations & had membership at different gyms & I can't recall any where the employees have been as cool & understanding or provided such excellent member service/ customer service as these 2 gentleman. I was recently injured and am coping with a fracture & serious damage to my leg so everything takes at least 10 times longer to do. I was stepping out of the shower as the gym was closing, and had yet to tend to the wounds, rewrap and bandage etc. Sergio was extremely cool, understanding, & courteous, saying not to worry & making sure I was comfortable & not pressed. They even adjusted their cleaning routine so that I woouldn't have to get out of the way while they tended to after hours duties, cleaning & maintaining the gym. I've been elsewhere where the workers make you feel like you should already be gone, prior to closing even let alone past that time. It was a relief & an unexpected blessing to experience the opposite of being rushed & to have interacted with these fellas- kind, caring, thorough, professionals who were so reasonable & chill when they didnt have to be. Thank you once again & keep up the excellent work, giving planet fitness a good name & raising the bar for exceptional member service!

I like this place, it's spacious a lot of equipment. BUT every time I go I notice a slight smell of smoke, which is probably filtering through the air conditioning vents. It made me feel sick because you can't exercise and breath smoke-polluted air. I decided to leave and will take a look on others PF locations. Exercising and breathing air with smoke it's not good for your health.

This has been my home gym for a while now, and overall I’ve had a really good experience here. I signed up for the Black Membership mainly because I love having access to the massage chairs and other recovery treatments they offer, it’s such a nice perk after a workout. The workout area itself is very clean, and most of the equipment is well-maintained, which makes for a comfortable and enjoyable workout environment.

That said, there are a few machines that have been out of order for what feels like a couple of weeks, so it would be great to see repairs happen a bit faster. I’ve also noticed that during the late mornings, there’s often only one person working at the front desk, which can make check-ins or questions take longer if they’re busy helping someone else.

Overall, it’s still a great gym with solid amenities, friendly staff, and a comfortable atmosphere. With a little more attention to machine maintenance and staffing during certain hours, it could easily be a 5-star experience.

My daughter wanted to join a gym so we toured a few local Planet Fitness. The upshot of this review is that if you live in the Valley and are not sure which Planet Fitness is best, I’ll save you some time…go to the Van Nuys location on Sepulveda and Sherman Way.

The North Hollywood location was a bit of a hot mess, the parking lot had homeless people sitting in the dirt right outside the front entrance, broken glass, teens loitering around their cars, smoking bowls, etc. The front desk guys at NoHo were a bit rude, distracted, told us to wait for the manager who never came.

So we left and went to the Van Nuys location on Sepulveda. What a change in vibe. Planet Fitness Van Nuys had a clean, easy access parking lot (busy tho). The front desk staff were all super helpful, happy to help, explained the different memberships, gave us a tour right away. The gym was clean (a new gym only open a year or so) with tons of machines, free weights, and a more private side area for working out, stretching, etc, which my daughter really liked. Nice amenities like massage chairs, tanning booths, self-locking storage lockers to put your purse, keys, etc.

We returned the next day so my daughter could officially join (they gave her the first month free). My daughter’s membership ($24.99 mo) allows for a guest to workout with her for free. So we worked out together for the first time. Great overall experience at the Van Nuys location!

bench/deadlift platform with free weights!!!!!.

I recently received a disturbing phone call from the manager, Maria, accusing me of causing flooding in the shower and leaving the curtain open. These claims are completely unfounded. The shower area has a known drainage problem—something even your staff admitted—and the floor is regularly wet regardless of my use. I hang my bag inside the stall, which sometimes prevents the curtain from fully closing, and I open it briefly to keep my belongings dry. For privacy, I stay behind the closed part of the curtain.

As a Black customer in a predominantly Latino area, I’ve felt unwelcome, and this baseless accusation only adds to that feeling. I expect respect and fairness as a paying member, not to be singled out with nonsense complaints. Unless you have clear evidence, this should be the last time I’m contacted about this issue. I’m seriously reconsidering my membership and will be sharing my experience with others. This treatment is unacceptable.

Been to a few in the area and hands down the newer locations are better. Locked rooms are upgraded with lockers that have built in combos. The stair stepper machines have personal TVs and give you detailed breakdowns of your workout. Loving the new locations and the upgrades. Girl at the front was super friendly and seemed happy to work there. She cared to ask me about my feedback knowing it was my first time. I will be back.

The gym personnel are courteous and always open to help you learn the equipment for new people like myself. The lockers are easy to use and showers are adequate. Even on busy days, you can find equipment to use. They have affordable towels and other items to purchase. The attendees are good about time of use for machines and equipment. They have a lovely lounge if you need to relax. For improvements, I would say that parking expansion would be nice. It can be difficult to find parking.

Original Review: I never imagined I’d have to fight over gym membership fees in the middle of a life-or-death battle, yet here I am—disappointed and frustrated. I recently reached out to Planet Fitness to request a refund on behalf of a Stage 4 cancer patient, someone who had stopped attending the gym for six to eight months due to intensive treatment, deteriorating health, and an ongoing fight for his life. Instead of understanding, I was met with rigid policies and a refusal to refund the charges.

When Fine Print Comes Before Human Decency

I understand that businesses have policies in place to ensure smooth operations. But shouldn’t there be exceptions for extreme circumstances? Cancer doesn’t come with a pause button. It doesn’t allow someone the luxury of walking into the gym to cancel in person, as Planet Fitness requires. Between hospital visits, treatments, and battling exhaustion, canceling a membership isn’t at the forefront of priorities.

I explained the situation, thinking they would show basic human decency, but instead, I was told that their policy doesn’t allow refunds—no matter the reason. How does a company that brands itself as a “Judgment-Free Zone” turn its back on someone going through one of the toughest battles imaginable?

The Bigger Issue: Insensitivity

This isn’t just about one refund—it’s about how businesses treat people in vulnerable situations. Planet Fitness could have shown compassion. They could have recognized that sometimes, policies should bend for real human circumstances. Instead, they chose profit over people.

With all this said, you’ve lost a customer and make sure all our membership is canceled. I would look else where for your gym needs. Disappointed!

When I first signed to this gym, I was so excited, motivated, and happy with the customer service Mario and Liz they were amazing, good, and encouraging my friend and I. Then, the company had trouble charging my bank account Maria gave me and actitud and said it was my fault because I put a stop payment on my bank .I didn't do it, and I had money on the bank they were charging my debit . The problem continues so I had to call the company and explain the situation one of the people gave me an actitid so I called their bank and fixed the problem . They got new people at this location, and their lack of customer service is incredibly horrible. They are busy paying attention to their phone, ignoring people living the customer with their word on their mouths, making faces the place is dirty ther run out of paper they take a long time to change the paper. 10 min before they close, they want us to go and not use the massage chairs. There's no parking spaces available .

Me and my girlfriend have been evacuated from the recent fires and have been staying in our car for a couple of weeks. We had the bright idea of using our Planet Fitness black card memberships so we can use the proper facilities. While charging our phones in the black card lounge, the general manager came up to us and told us we cannot sit in the lounge or use any outlets to charge our phones and asked us to leave.
She accused us of unplugging some massage seats, which we did not, And told us we can’t sit in the lounge area. After me and my partner told her that we didn’t unplug anything and we just plugged directly into an outlet, she accused us of tampering with the seats by plugging our phones into an outlet.
I want to see the scientific data behind this.
She was unprofessional and very rude. It’s not our fault that we can’t return to our apartment. This place could’ve easily gotten five stars, but she had a treat us like we didn’t belong there. We will not be coming back to the Sepulveda location and Planet Fitness is not judgment free because as two unhoused people born and raised in LA, we were judged and called loiterers.

This is a pretty good gym with decent late-night hours during the week and a new and clean facility. There's usually always two people at the front desk if you need anything also. Bathroom and showers are well taken care of also. I only wish they'd give black card members 15 minutes on the hydromassage beds. Most of the black card amenities have a 10 minute limit.

Planet Fitness has plenty of room even at full capacity, which I've never seen. They have all the machines you could want, with massage chairs and infrared therapy as well. The only thing I don't like is their lack of free weights. Every Olympic bar is on a Smith machine, which is nice but leaves something to be desired when doing deadlifts or heavy dumbbell work. The heaviest fixed weight bar they have is 60 pounds, which is too light for curls. Other than the lack of free weights, I like it.

This gym is spacious, has plenty of machines (with the exception of peak hours) and is kept pretty clean. With that being said, the worst thing about this gym is the employees( specifically the weekdays evening shift) and their subpar customer service skills. By far the most unfriendly and unwelcoming crew out of all the PF gyms in the valley. They don’t make eye contact, 2/10 will hardly acknowledge you and if they do they’ll barely mutter a half assed Hi or Welcome if at all. It feels so ungenuine. Not all of them are stale, the two gentlemen with glasses are pretty welcoming. Everyone else, including the trainer, would get zero stars if possible. They would really benefit from some customer service courses.

Planet Fitness is my favorite gym, and I’ve been to many locations across the U.S. because I travel a lot. This location stands out with its brand-new equipment and even a meditation room, which is a rare find in other Planet Fitness gyms.

I also want to highlight the fantastic trainer, Josh. His enthusiasm and expertise helped me improve my program, gain weight, and better achieve my fitness goals. Additionally, the manager, Maria Cortez, runs the gym like clockwork, which keeps me coming back.

One small suggestion: it would be great if the water fountain was fixed to make refilling bottles easier. Other than that, I’m a huge fan of this Planet Fitness. Keep up the great work!

I have had an amazing experience with the trainer Joshua. He spent time going over my fitness goals and what I wanted to focus on for my fitness health. He inquired about any sustained injuries I may have. Then, we created a fitness plan based on my schedule and the days that I typically go to the gym. He showed me the proper way to use every machine listed on my fitness plan. I recently completed my first upper body/arm day, and it was a great experience. Josh is personable and knowledgeable. My session started off with a quick stretch, and then we conquered 4-5 machines. I'm looking forward to my next session and seeing results.

I’m really let down by how Maria, the branch manager, treated me today around 11am. I used the locker near the front desk and opened it twice during my workouts. As a newcomer to the gym, this was only my second visit, and I was still trying to get familiar with everything. When I was leaving, my locker wouldn’t open, so I approached Maria, who was alone at the front. I explained my situation, but it felt like she had already decided not to assist me. She mentioned that there was nothing she could do since the other staff member was on lunch and that I would need to wait 30 minutes for any help. I was understandably distressed but remained polite, explaining that I needed to return to my family and couldn’t wait that long. Unfortunately, she firmly said no, insisting that the other employee deserved their lunch and that she couldn’t help me. I acknowledged that everyone needs their break, but I asked if there was any way she could assist me. She bluntly refused and, with a rather terrible attitude and tone, asked me to step aside for another gym member who needed to sign on a clipboard. I returned to my locker and tried again multiple times, and thankfully, another gym-goer attempted to help me, but we had no luck. I went back to Maria once more, pointing out that my locker was just a few feet away from us and asking if she could assist. That’s when she realized I wasn’t referring to the restroom locker, and she finally opened it for me. I immediately mentioned to her that if she wasn't sure which locker I was referring then the best thing she could've done was ask me and help a customer in distress. As I was leaving, I expressed my disappointment about her condescending tone throughout our interaction and her unwillingness to help a customer in need. Oddly, the locker code had changed, which I still don’t understand. I am truly disappointed with the attitude of the staff at Planet Fitness. How difficult is it to understand something as simple as- Always listen to your customer, empathize and try to find a solution. Saying "no" shouldn't be the first response to any customer. Looking at the past reviews seems like I'm not the only one with a terrible experience with Maria and her attitude.

Been coming to this gym since it opened.
I’ve been to some of the others and this one is the best. It’s the only one I’ve noticed they have combination lockers. And equipment is spaced apart enough to where I feel like I can breath. Also the clientele for the most part seem to be more mindful of their surroundings.
The one in DTLA I always leave angry, cause people hog the free weights and nothing is available. Today this woman had 5 sets of free weights all to herself and wouldn’t let anyone use the ones she wasn’t using!

I don’t get that at the Van Nuys location. Sure you have some people, mostly students, that sit and text on their phones, but that seems to be everywhere. I just notice the regulars at this one are better than the other locations. I’m happy that this is my home gym.

Air conditioning sucks they have it broken and not taking priority to fix it. I came from LA fitness and air moves nicely over there but here. They don't care. The machines work pretry good. Everything new at least but the air is stale. I will do a follow up to see how long it took them to fix it!

I've been a staple at this gym literally every day for the most part since the beginning of the year. I can honestly say that this club, its members, and its staff have collectively made it the best experience anywhere in the valley for me in an extremely long time regarding overall health club enjoyment. The staff is fantastic (even though there's a lot of turnover which is unfortunate because I tend to get attached to the employees and they become friends to me). Everyone new who comes in seems to be trained properly and are very good at interacting with the members. Michael and Diana at the front desk are Rockstars. They always have a smile on their face, welcome everyone with a genuine smile and hello, and are extremely hard workers. Maria, the club's mananger is fantastic. She's always available and attentive to people's needs or concerns based on my observations.

The club itself is very clean and well maintained. The only issue I ever had was their AC didn't work for quite a few months (working wonderfully now though). I don't take away from my review for this as I know it was not anyone at the club level that could've fixed it sooner. There's definitely a disconnect between corporate and local levels that absolutely needs correcting but again, the staff had nothing to do with that problem so I don't hold it against them or my review of the club whatsoever. They were the ones suffering the most given the amount of time they had to spend in a sweat box each day. (Again, the AC works perfectly now just to reiterate)

I've been to plenty of Planet Fitness locations throughout California and in my humble opinion, Van Nuys has the best atmosphere out of all them so far for me personally and I am so proud/happy to call this place my second home!

Unbelievable!! They towed a member's car out of their lot. I am a member of this club and they towed me without warning. It cost $375.00 which is outright theft. They leave the decision making of who gets towed to the truck driver, running their own business. Watch out and don't count on the GM for help, Maria is helpless.

I will give 5 stars for so many reasons, the staff are always willing to help out to any type of request, they are very kind and very easygoing. It's very clean and everything but the bad thing is that there are many people who don't clean it. Another good point is that those who serve you there are very friendly. Another bad thing is that there are always a lot of people there and I have to wait like 15 minutes to use the machines. They should put more machines to be comfortable doing the exercises😊👍🏻

Update: I suspect one of the employees has a rockbot account and uses it to control the music. Wouldn't be so bad if they didn't have bad taste in music. Kinda kills the workout vibe if you don't have headphones.

Very spacious compared to the nearby Northridge location. The lockers don't use your own locks, but a combination system, which is... interesting. Newer machines as well, which is really nice to see. They even have a timer and rep-counter on them!
I will say, I feel like this location would benefit from more cleaning stations. Some areas feel very sparse, and the frame of the trash can is colored dark purple so it doesn't stick out as much. Hopefully people seek them out to wipe up, regardless.

I’ve been going to this Planet Fitness since January and love how clean the staff keeps the gym. I always see someone moving around and wiping equipment down. Recently I’ve started taking the personal training classes with Josh as well and he is GREAT! Very positive and motivational. Easy to talk to and patient. He always leaves me feeling encouraged and he is very gracious.

Manager Maria has no customer service skills. I had a concern and throughout our “conversation”, Maria never made eye contact with me. She was no help with my questions. In addition, she said she was going to call me back the following day, never did. I called two times and was left on hold for ~10 minutes until I decided to hang up. I cancelled my membership along with my moms.

Josh, the trainer at this location (Van Nuys, CA) is fantastic. I have only been working with him for a few weeks, but he is already my biggest supporter. I had been contemplating switching to a different gym, but Josh is 100% of the reason I stayed at Planet Fitness. Josh makes going to the gym a fun experience. He makes me happy to be there and excited to work out. Before I began training with Josh, I had no idea what I was doing in my fitness journey. He sat down with me and created a routine that catered to my physical abilities and knowledge. If I ever need any help or am ready to move forward in my journey he is happily there to assist. Taking fitness classes with Josh feels just like you are working out with a friend. His positive attitude makes you want to keep signing up for more classes. He pushes me forward in my workouts and has proven to me that I am stronger than I ever thought I could be. He has strengthened my confidence and understanding not only in fitness but in myself as a person too. You can tell that he genuinely cares about his clients and loves the work he does by the way he takes the time to thoroughly explain and demonstrate each exercise. He will continue to explain until you understand and get it right. He never makes you feel like you are doing a bad job or are not capable of doing the routine. He will always come to whatever level you need him to be on. I have never had a negative interaction with Josh, and he continues to bring joy and laughter into my daily gym routine. When I finish a hard workout or beat a personal weightlifting record, he is the first person I want to tell and celebrate with. If you have been considering signing up for classes, you absolutely should. I promise you will not regret it, Josh will be there for you every step of the way!

2nd time coming here and don't like the staff. Bearded guy was rude and looked annoyed when I politely let him know the tissue paper had run out in one the stands, because I was near it and he brushed me off by saying, the other ones have paper. I left the gym and still no one had put any paper. Usually, I go to the one on Balboa and Parthenia and see that everyone wipes off the machines after using them, not here.

I love Planet Fitness, I have been in many from Klamath Falls to Culver City and the Camarillo location is my favorite, especially since all the cardio equipment was upgraded and rearranged. The staff is amazing, from being very friendly to keeping the gym looking good.

The lay out to this gym is incredible. Highly recommend. The only issue is the constant turnover on employees but I do believe that’s due to the wages. Other than that the manager Maria is fantastic and very accommodating. Enjoy my workouts there

The team members have all been warm and helpful without exception. But the air conditioning has been struggling to keep up for weeks and is now broken. Last I was in there, it was 87 degrees in the gym. So it’s currently less of a gym and more of a sauna.

The price. I have a basic membership ($10/month) and that alone pulled me away from LA Fitness where I was perfectly happy. But pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness, the commitment to a non-toxic environment, and overall well-managed facility.

Despite questionable areas surrounding the gym, I feel safe going to this Planet Fitness. I've been going to this gym since it's grand opening and this is the one of nicest gym in the San Fernando Valley. Once you step inside, you can tell that the staff maintains the facility.

Inside, it is very spacious and you don't bump into people easily when walking. They have lockers outside the spa for easy access and visibility of your items. The high ceilings don't make you feel claustrophobic when you're completing your workouts. Plenty of newer equipment that come with the technology to counts your repetitions, along with a timer. They have multiple areas where they have free-weights, incase one area is busy you have another place to workout. The massage chairs and beds are not torn and ripped from usage, I've gone to facilities when they put me in massage chairs that are broken and the "creak" and "squeak" when they operate.

Some improvements I would suggest: add more air circulation, when this facility gets busy it get a little "warm." A bigger parking space due to more crowded times during the afternoons and evening. Make this a 24 hour facility.

The gym itself is actually pretty clean and nice but the reason that I am giving a one star is because of the manager. I have had many interactions with her where I am trying to get help on my children’s account. She is extremely dismissive, does not look you into the eyes, has no customer service etiquette, and could care less if she helps you or not. She is always on her phone and not paying attention. I ended up canceling both of my children’s membership because of her attitude. I come from a fitness background and I am currently a manager at a different gym. She would never be allowed to work at any of the facilities that I work in based off her customer service skills or should I say lack of.

I have the Blk. Card. Due to my work travel. In this ocasion I was passing by these espesific location and desided to stop for a 10 min.. work out. Wile working out Liz aproached me and said l can not be there due to my dress code. Very unprofessional. Liz had an issue with me. She did not called me aside but instead lectured me on front of every body there. I explained to her every where else I go. I was never told anything about it. explained my situation to her but she still told me l can not be there on front every one., to me it was degrading, shaming, demeaning embarrasing an unprofesional.
She should had called me aside.

It made me feel and look like a free-loder on front of every one there. Employees must be more skilled when dealing with consumers.

First time checking out this new club since it opened and all I can say is RUN. There's an army of vagrants flooding the parking lot up to no good. I watched a man come from out of a tent to try to open the doors of several vehicles. I was inside for a total of 15 minutes before I decided I had enough of staff member Lizbeth discriminating me. She came up to me twice to judge me and try to tell me how to be. I've been to several other clubs and this one is the worst one. Instead of judging and picking on me she could've been doing her job and re-racking weights and cleaning up machines considering how busy it was. Yet Lizbeth wanted to devote her time to looking for victims to attack. I saw her approach several other members of my race so I know it wasn't personal but there's a proper way to go about things. Ling story short, this Planet Fitness is not a judgement free zone when Lizbeth is there. She has a bad attitude and is extremely unprofessional.

My only complain is other members don’t respect the 30 minute workout and they sit there doing their sets. I don’t understand why there’s plenty of machines outside of the 30 minute area.
