Planet Fitness is a spacious 24/7 franchise gym that provides affordable membership plans. This location has all the weights, cardio machines and gender locker rooms. Staff were nice. Parking was easy.

Overall, I had a nice workout and enjoyed the amenities.

The gym has a great selection of equipment minus a few items (desperately needs another chest fly machine, people literally fight over the single one they have). It’s also generally fairly clean. However, the gym is WAY TOO HOT *AND* has no air flow whatsoever. The gym is 78° according to their thermostat which is extremely uncomfortable if you’re working out. It’s so warm I start feeling sick after 20 minutes. I’m used to lifting for 70-100 minutes, and I’m feeling sick after 20. It’s not just the heat, it’s the complete lack of any air flow.

They have absolutely ZERO fans here. It’s mind blowing. The entire gym except for one single spot has literally no moving air. It’s stifling in there. Perfect way to feel sick while working out and then also get sick from the germs and everyone’s BO & breath not being able to move. It’s awful. They are too cheap to go buy a couple of floor fans from Walmart for $50.

The manager claims that they have had heard people complaining are will be adding ceiling fans soon. Why wasn’t that done before the gym was open? When will it actually be done??? Who knows. In the meantime I’m gonna go check out the other two big gyms in Ventura because temperature and lack of air is ruining my fitness enjoyment.

I used to go to 24 and I recently started going to this gym. I really like it. I prefer it over 24. I am giving it 5 stars but if I could I would do 4.5 only because I have the black card and when I tried using the perks for the first time today (the massage chairs specifically) I was told it would be a minute wait and to wait in the lounge and the guy would come get me and take me to the chair when it was free because I had never done it before but 15+ minutes and a few people coming in and out later (presumably for the other amenities in the black card spa area) I was still sitting there and decided to just leave because I had class and at that point I just didn’t have time anymore. That was super disappointing, I’m sure the kid at the front who told me that doesn’t get paid enough so not the end of the world but it did kind of suck to sit there waiting for nothing. So just be aware of that if you get the black card. The system for that whole thing could be better.

I travel throughout the United States for work and visit multiple Planet Fitness facilities. The Ventura facility has the dirtiest women’s locker room and shower area I have ever seen. I was there three days in a row and it was very evident that the locker/shower area does not get cleaned. The sinks were full of hair. Hair on the floor throughout the locker room and hair in the shower stalls. In one of the shower stalls I used the handheld shower head to push a large glob of hair out the way. I returned the next day and the hair is in the same spot as I left it. The women’s locker room would fail a health inspection. The workout area is exceptionally clean which is the only reason I gave two stars.

Been to about 60 p fitnesses all over the country. Easily the worst weight lifting section I've ever seen. The dumbell section only has about 4 benches and they are all crammed next to each other. I've seen multiple p fitness that get rid of the yellow machines and turn those areas into areas almost nobody goes to into machines literally 99 percent of people use and it's a total game changer. They need to get rid of the yellow room, move the dumbbell section there and put another Smith and cable machine or two where the dumbbells were. Neeeeed a legit designated dumbbell section. This is a sad abomination. When planet fitness is 195 percent unused cardio machines and 5 percent proper weight lifting equipment that 95 percent of the people in there are using. You know the layout is abnoxiously absurd.

This planet fitness is one of the worst I’ve ever been to. I am a previous long term mavericks member that transferred over to PF when they were purchased.
There are many issues with this gym including the manager Gabriel as well as no access to the higher manager (who has also ignored my concerns that I passed up thru one of the better managers at the Oxnard location).
Gabriel blames everything on corporate when you raise an issue instead of working to correct it.
There is no access to anyone higher including the owner
The gym is way overcrowded due to this summer free student promo.
Homeless people and people in RVs are using the gym for non workout purposes. Homeless shopping carts and buggies outside the front door as well as trash cans overflowing most of the time.
All the national network news channels have been removed by Gabriel because he was afraid of a small amount of members complaining they didn’t like the political stuff which is ridiculous.
The equipment is brand new but many benches have ripped surfaces and much of the equipment is not being properly maintained
Feedback on getting more of the more frequently used equipment is ignored or as Gabriel says it’s corporate and there’s nothing he can do
Paper towels and hand cleaner stations are not properly maintained. And when you bring it to their attention you get a loo and it’s not done in a reasonable amount of time
I keep my membership because it’s cost effective and my black card allows me to use gyms when I travel. Those planet fitnesses are way better in all aspects. Unless I see changes I’ll seek out better local gyms and keep my PF membership for travel

I have been coming to this gym for over a year now and it’s totally fine, always clean and there’s always machines available to use even when it’s busy. The amenities are nice (tanning and massage chairs) and parking plentiful. However, the reason for my review is because I met the nicest employee there today working at the front desk, Ariel. She was so kind and cheerful, went above and beyond to make sure the tanning bed was cleaned before I used, and generally just an awesome person that totally made my day.

I've joined so many gyms and stopped going for various reasons pertaining to the gym. Planet Fitness is awesome in every aspect:
machines are pretty, labeled, and show instructions. There are two or more of every machine. There's always a treadmill or elliptical available because they're in abundance. There are cleaning stations at every junction. The massage chairs and tables are luxurious, and they're cleaned after every use. The staff is ALWAYS friendly and helpful. Parking is never a hassle. The heavy lifting grunters are in a separate room. The music isn't deafening. I can listen to my audio book. The Full BodyEnhancement collagen boosting machine is a bonus. I run out of time to use it. I literally could spend half of my day here. The temperature is just right for me. I come layered. I look forward to going to the gym for the first time. Ever. I'm 68 and hope to live to be 100. LOVE THIS GYM. 🥰

Updating this, as I've been coming here for a few months and I've noticed a few things:

1) There are a few regular gym members who treat this location as their own personal gym. Taking up 3-4 sets of weights at a time, zero concept of other's personal space, and slamming weights around. Slamming the weights, dumbells especially, can break the weights. It also means you should probably be using a lighter weight that you can control.

2) Employees rarely correct these actions. There is a "no lunks" sign, but as far as I have seen, the bad behavior is never addressed.

3) Some of the young kids don't understand basic gym etiquette.

Other than those things, this location has a ton of free weights, strength training machines, and cardio equipment. They also just added 3 new machines.

I'd recommend getting the Black Card, which also allows you to take advantage of tanning beds, water massage table, and affords you the opportunity to bring guests!

This is the cleanest planet fitness I have been to. During my work out, staff were visible cleaning, vacuuming, wiping down equipment. Trash cans were emptied. The place is spotless and smells fresh. The music was pleasant. The staff are friendly and helpful. LOVE this gym!!!

Awesome value! Black membership for $25 a month and you can bring the guest every time you go. Machines are clean and the staff is friendly but during peep times it can get very busy. I do sometimes get frustrated when another guest will camp out on a machine and just play with their phone. Also there's only one pec fly/ rear delt machine, It can sometimes be a struggle to get a turn

I'm just a little upset at the fact that you offer a one-day pass on the Internet? With valid I.D, it doesn't state anywhere on the web page that it's not excepted in Ventura, Oxnard or Camarillo. I went to the one in Ventura and the gentleman at the front gave me some excuse about how long he's been working there and they never have given out a free one-day pass?and that people change their emails to get free passes? ITS A ONE-DAY PASS!!! REALLY? smh????I was going to check out your facility this morning and more than likely purchase the black card membership for $24.99. but actually I would've just paid the annual rate of $50. I see them cleaning constantly - even moving the heavy equipment to clean under / behind them. I recently was at the local YMCA working out and it was soooo uncomfortably stuffy hot and smelly in those small workout rooms. At Planet Fitness the layout is totally open and airy, with super high ceilings, and the cherry on top?? Most of the machines have little built in personal fans to cool you down even more!! total life savers for me.

We frequent both the Ventura and Camarillo PF gym. I've been in gyms most of my life and have had memberships at almost every brand name gym. Every PF gym we have visited has been a "10" Star rating from the friendly welcomes to the cleanliness of the gyms. Unsafe, unprofessional gym, company, leadership/management & culture.

I left my previous “home gym” in Simi Valley after a staff member went on some campaign to get one of their friends who attended the gym to try an interrupt my workouts & the other staff members to ignore me when arriving to the gym. Didn’t know why & didn’t try to get social approval once I noticed this. I literally just ignored the high school dramatic sociology & carried on with doing my thing. However, this campaign got so bad that one of their crew unplugged the 3-pronged socket to my treadmill while in use. @ that point my physical safety was a concern. So I went to Ventura & made it my new “home gym” seeking solace from the unprofessionalism and HS dramatics of the Gen-Z staff @ the Simi location.

Initially, everyone was very friendly & welcoming. However, a few days later, every staff member began ignoring me there as well, welcoming everyone but me. So I realized that the Simi Valley management/leadership must have called and smeared me in some way, encouraging them to act as they did, which wasn’t a big deal because I am there to workout, not to bother anybody or provide maturity training or therapy.

I think this is the reason why no one bothered to fix equipment at the Ventura location when I brought it to the staffs attention. I asked several times for a machine to be secured & fixed as I am trying to rehabilitate/strengthen a lower back injury. I told a blond guy with a beard who I no longer see there, a young lady, and a young man with long brown hair…3 times in total about it! It was never fixed. I think that goes to show how unprofessional the staff and management/leadership is, and how the HS sociocultural nature of this company affects your ability to address safety concerns in these gyms…which is none.

If I owned this gym/corporation, I’d teach the staff how to actually be mature professionals and/or provide therapy for group-think insecurities, keeping the drama out of the customers gym experience(s).Won’t support a company without values or concerns for people’s physical safety!

I enjoy working out at this gym. There are many cardio machines. The staff members are friendly and knowledgeable. This gym is kept very clean. I like the cardio machines are upstairs because when it does get busy you have the option to head upstairs. This gym hardly gets busy but when it does there's workout machines available. I personally like the massage chair. There are only two but they have other massage devices. It helps after completing a hard workout!

Great "new" gym, but it is uncomfortably cold in here ALL THE TIME. I even witness the employees holding their own arms trying to keep themselves warm, with SWEATERS on! 😢

Also, the black card spa lounge was recently renovated, and they removed the couch that had outlets nearby to charge your phone, computer, etc. The other couches located in the front of the spa do not have outlets! I paid to use the lounge area and this is what they are doing? Very disrespectful!

Only giving it 2 stars because I truly do love this gym the black card is totally worth it. The layout of the gym is simple and straight to the point. Me and my boyfriend go together almost 4 times a week. However everytime we come in there's this girl which there are a couple but I believe her name is Katie. She is sooo rude always has the mean face. It's such a burden to ask to use the spa room when I PAY 24.99 to use it. I don't know what her issue is but seems like she's pushing away customers not bringing them in. I've talked to multiple friends that go here and even 2 random guys that said they have the same issue with her. Kind of feel bad for her nonetheless it's uncomfortable to walk in from a long day at work to destress and she's here putting you in a off mood right as you walk in.

If I could give this place a negative review I would. I walked in today inquiring about services regarding membership & how it works. The woman tells us about their top tier membership and tells us about the price per month. It's explained to me it's by automatic payments via deduction from a bank account. I ask is there a way to pay by cash? I can pay for the year. Strong no. What about a credit card? Again no. Then she thinks she lost a sale and practically throws the paper at me and ends the conversation. Wow, she lost it now. No continuing to talk about the other plans. No showing us around. Or even offering any deals that might meet my needs. I was shocked. I couldn't believe how I was treated. I am hesitant to just give someone my banking information not because I'm old school, but more so because I've experienced credit fraud. If she was a good salesman she would have tried to show me all the reasons why I'd want to join their gym. Not think, if I can't get the top tier sale then ef it your not worth my time. To the kid manning the front, you are the reason kids should have not received a trophy for just participating in a sport. Your negative attitude and closed mindedness will always hender your growth. Hopefully by reading this you can allow this comment to be a teachable moment and if not, then you just proved me right.

The new PF in Ventura is great, affordable, clean, huge space, easy to find your own spot, lots of amazing equipment, the staff are helpful, just a low key vibe, everyone doing their own thing, always enjoy my visits!

Clean, good assortment of equipment, and not that crowded. People (gym goers) here truly leave you alone so you can learn how to exercise, perfect for beginners. Staff are nice too!

I love everything about Planet Fitness. The price is great! They have a trainer who is fantastic and is very helpful. The staff is also friendly and helpful. Always there to answer your questions.

Don’t come here its awesome and i don’t want to share or be crowded.
Clean, nice staff, signing up was kind of a pain in that i couldn’t use a credit card for the monthly dues(had to use credit card for the prorate but required bank acct and routing info for the monthly dues)
