I was a member of Power Fitness starting in 2020 until about 2023. The text messages below are between myself and the owner. When I reached out to her to cancel she told me I signed a 6 month contract. I requested she send me a copy of this contract because I had not signed anything except for when I first signed up in 2020. It is my belief that she was being intentionally deceptive to try to get me to pay another 6 months of membership fees but go ahead and read the screenshots to make a decision for yourself. DO NOT agree to autopay if you sign up for this gym.

I started going to this gym 3 years ago since then the owner’s have consistently updated the equipment and appearance.
They have a great instructor that has classes 3 days a week that I really like. I recommend it to my friends and it has helped me on my weight loss and workout journey.

The gym being open 24 hours a day is incredibly helpful because I could set my own schedule. The equipment is in great shape and well maintained. Manager is personable and is prompt in taking care of business. Quite satisfied with all aspects of Power Fitness.

This gym has everything a person needs to get in shape. The owners keep things clean and in good working condition. They recently painted the gym and reupholstered the equipment and replaced two fans that had been broken. There is plenty of room to spread out and do your own thing. I don’t want showers but some people might wish for them and the evaporative cooling system struggles a bit on the hottest days.

I love that the gym is open 24/7. There is tons of equipment to use, but it's not just the options for workouts and classes you can take. It's the people. Everyone is always so nice and willing to jump in and help. The culture of the gym is so much better than any other gym I've joined, especially in the Sonora area. I highly recommend reaching out and joining. It will obviously fit into your schedule, and I promise you'll be happy with yourself when you do.

Open 24hrs, there's no staff to baby sit you but cameras so be mindful and respectful. Been going for years and ive paid my bill on time so there's never a issue. Give this gym a try love seeing the regulars but wouldn't mind seeing new faces💪 see you there

Had a friend traveling from out of town for business and started calling around to find a place that offered day passes. The owner dropped everything to meet me and set me up with a card for his 4 day visit. Super friendly and accommodating. Only place around that seems to recognize this is a tourist area.

DON’T SPEND MONEY HERE! I secured a membership and after trying to cancel it, the owner continued to charge my card. Very unprofessional and wouldn’t suggest anyone to come here sadly.

How do you get ahold of the owner?!

I have reached out the last couple days by text with no response along with trying to stop by. The voicemail box seems to be full often as well when I call. The reviews and review responses I have seen are unsettling, but I wanted to find out myself and give this place a chance. However, It looks like I’m taking my business elsewhere.

I was deadlifting and trying to be as gentle as I can and the staff came and literally stepped on the bar causing me to drop it quickly, I was lucky to not be injured. Poor wannabe gym and unprofessional staff

These are all very interesting emails...I dropped in this morning to just ask the manager a question regarding her older used equipment (I just wanted to buy a couple of used pieces from her). But, she gave me a sideways look, brush off (she absolutely had no idea what needed and why I was even there) she said, "I'M BUSY!!" So, I left... "Busy" huh? Listen, I've been in the gym business for over 50 years and owned several clubs in SF and the Peninsula. So, let me straighten you out...the gym business is NOT busy right now. The gym "business" marketplace is in the 'tank'. If this was my club I'd be listening to any and all who came in to see me. This club has great potential-wish I could say the same for the management.

Why is Power Fitness in Sonora still allowing members to work out and NOT following the governors order to close? Yet, the owner will not allow any new members.....Report this business to the state of Ca and the Tuolumne County Health Dept.

Been going here for awhile now. Great place and best price in town. All the members are great very nice atmosphere. Only complaint is the treadmills was okay for a bit but as of today I could only get two to work. Other than that no problems! And not to mention it’s the only 24hr gym in Sonora.

Absolutely the most unprofessional business around town I was charged for 8 months after canceling. And I'm not the only one everyone in town has the same experience. Machines never work, and the owners are never available to talk to. 8 months equals $360 of stolen money. Look them up on Facebook Sonora pages. Someone's gotta stop these people . Gonna report to the BBB now that I know it's not a one time thing that happened to me it happens to everyone who walks in those doors.

Few thoughts for those interested: treadmills are hit/miss (sometimes they work, but most don't), the place has limited equipment, the site has been under renovation for the past year and a half and the owner is very difficult to get in touch with for requests like signing up for membership or getting receipts. Other than that, you have 24 hour access.

This Gym is a joke!! I tried going there 3 times, calling and leaving messages with the owner 3 times and I still a week later haven't heard back from her! Now when I call I hear "this persons inbox is full" I really don't know how she stays in business. Well she's lost two people to Sonora Fitness who was ready to sign with her Gym!! Good Luck Folks!
