I've been with powerhouse for 4 years now and im very disappointed in some of the changes to the gym.

The new equipment is great but it is very unorganized... Also im paying $50 a month for these upgrades yet people who are paying the lower price of $30 get to use all the upgrades! That's ridiculous. The pro room needs better ventilation as it smells very odd and gives me a headache.

Also there are several new trainers and some of them are extremely rude. David and BJ both approached me in regards to training but both these men came of rather flirtatious which made me feel very uncomfortable. After I rejected both offers they continue to continuously watch me during my work outs. I brought it up to a staff member who just brushed it off and told me that the trainers are independent and not part of the team.....

The Obvious: The upcharge of $20 dollars a month ontop of your existing $29.99 bringing your new monthly fee to $49.99 in order to obtain the pro room upgrade is just to get more money out of their members.

Here Is The Problem With The New Policy:
No one is going to respect it. This morning alone I witnessed a member let non-pro room members into the room and this happened twice. This will continue to happen at the expense of those of us being forced to pay $49.99 a month while others benefit from the pro room perk at their regulary $29.99 monthly fee. Why screw over some gym members with your broken policy? Its ridiculous. Unless you're going to have some type of body guard at the door all day to prevent this from happening, I don't see this new policy working.
Why not just make it a requirement for ALL members to start paying $49.99 a month that way everyone can use the room and it eliminates the price discrepancy.

Note To VIP Members:
The $49.99 a month upgrade applies to ALL 3 Powerhouse locations. The Menifee location does not have they're new equipment locked up in a room but yet the monthly cost is still $49.99 a month. So what exactly are you paying $20 dollars extra for at the Menifee location? The pool? What if you never use the pool?
Its a rip off. A $20 dollar rip off. I love Powerhouse Gym but hate that they're starting to become another shady gym with sleazy business practices. Hopefully they reconsider the new Pro Room policy and come up with a better solution.

I recently moved here I used to live in Long Beach, and my favorite gym there was The Iconic Gym, which I really miss! 🙌
Now that I’m in Murrieta, I needed to find a gym close to home, and Powerhouse Gym turned out to be a great choice. The membership price is very reasonable, and I really enjoy working out here.

Powerhouse Murrieta has so much equipment. I work out once a week or two to three time a week but man they just have equipment such as the pulleys that is always available. Wonderful atmosphere. The main reason I joined because my other gym shutdown during covid 2020, but Powerhouse never did, Thanks Powerhouse, staff and gym.

I’ve been going to this gym for many years. The staff is great, the childcare ladies are very nice and attentive. The bathrooms are always clean, as well as the open gym area. The prices are comparable to other gyms. One bonus is they just opened childcare hours all day. Most gym childcare hours close from 1-4 and are closed Sundays. This allows me to get a workout in that works with my schedule (that changes daily). I highly recommend Powerhouse!

This morning, I attended the gym only to find active construction occurring in immediate proximity to patrons. The environment was not only disruptive and unwelcoming, it was categorically unsafe. Exposed hazards, obstructed walkways, and the absence of clear safety protocols constitute a blatant disregard for public welfare. From a legal standpoint, this scenario reflects gross negligence and a failure to uphold the duty of care owed to gym members. If an injury were to occur under these conditions, liability would be indisputable. This isn’t just poor planning, it’s a lawsuit in waiting.

I have been going to this gym for years. The facility and equipment are clean, and with just a few exceptions broken machines are repaired right away. There is a good variety of machines, probably a dozen flat benches for DB work, and five-six squat racks. No hassle about masking. When I compare this place to say planet fitness where my friend goes, where there are less than 20 folks present and yet mandatory masks and DB that go all the way up to.... 70LBS, its a no brainer. My hope is that Powerhouse will continue the sweet pricing on three years paid in advance.

3/2023 I needed to renew my membership. Dealt with Izzy over the phone and Vince in person. The thing that struck me was that they wrote up the contract and had it waiting, although I was vague about when I would be in. This kind of thing is proactive and very respectful of the customer's time. It may seem like a little thing, but little things add up and this gym continues to be a great place to use.

20/25 glad to see the ring gone and the space put to better use. Not a fan of the dreary black paint though.

The cleaning staff there are amazing. The gym is pretty clean. Which in my opinion is super important! I’ve been to a few dirty gyms in my day and left! They are getting in some new equipment and I love the variety!!! Great equipment! One thing I wish they had, is someone that could help explaining a machine. I do find another member to ask.. and I’ve met some cool people, so that’s a positive.. I would rather flag a staff down and ask them, verses interrupting a member to help me.

One of the most exciting recent upgrades is the dedicated glute & lower body training area. This is a major win for members focused on lower body development, and it's clear the gym is investing in equipment that aligns with modern training trends. The gym is consistently clean and well-maintained, and even the cardio equipment is newer and more advanced compared to the San Jacinto location, which makes our weekend visits even more enjoyable.

As for the Kids Club, we’ve noticed a definite improvement over time. The space feels more organized and well-run. While the staff could be a bit more engaging or cheerful, we completely understand—watching over a room full of energetic kids is no easy task. Still, a little extra warmth goes a long way in making both parents and children feel more comfortable.

ive previously reviewed this gym with 5 stars but now I’m getting concerned. Personally I hate it when a gym removes features and benefits yet still wants to charge me the same or more. Powerhouse is now removing the fitness, yoga and spin classes to make a “higher end=higher priced” workout room and I feel like if you are going to take something away that I saw as a tangible benefit, then I should receive a discount, you made this decision to take away features that were part of my purchase decision. sorry but I loved the Saturday morning yoga class…I needed it to supplement my workouts, now that’s gone and the answer is to drive 30 minutes to the menefee gym, for a mid-week, daytime class (doesn’t work for me!). Furthermore they are taking away a cross training area to add fitness classes, right now that’s only 4 times a week but again, taking the square footage away is a take away in my eyes.

The team member today was great !! Last Wednesday afternoon I spoke to a team member about a personal trainer. He proceeded to refer Jeremy because I mentioned I needed someone to hold me accountable! Jeremy made contact with me via text at 5:11pm I responded shortly thereafter stating that 10:30 or 11:30am were good times for me. I didn’t receive a reply from Jeremy until Thursday at 5:50pm asking if I was available for Friday and my reply was “ no” on Friday he sent another text asking me if I was available at 4pm my reply was “ no” again I explained that I joined a 6 week program instead! I was disappointed in Jeremy’s initial communication which prompted me to seek services somewhere else.

Had a sign up issue with their sister club in Menifee so I called murrieta instead but wanted to speak to the manager there first to ensure I wouldn't have the same negative experience. Front desk wouldn't allow me to speak to the manager. They said just tell them and they would pass it "along". I said no that won't work. Imagine if I had a safety issue, or assault issue or something personal. Never been to a legit business where the desk prevents people from talking to the manager. That's 2 local powerhouse gyms down the drain. I was willing to sign up in Murrieta instead with some assurance from the manager. Now we have 2 local gyms getting yet another 1 star on multiple platforms.

I have been a member of Powerhouse Gym for some time now. A few weeks ago, we went to try the infrared yoga class on Wednesday with Christa at the Murrieta location, who was fantastic. Her unconventional style, which was more like yoga cardio, was a refreshing change and super enjoyable. The Murrieta location is clean and equipped with all new equipment. Olga, from the front desk, is always fantastic and super friendly. My husband, who initially came in as a guest, was so impressed that he signed up for a membership as well.
While we have had many positive experiences at this gym, including enjoying the infrared yoga, which is unfortunately not available at the Menifee location, we have had ongoing issues with the daycare services that need addressing.

Approximately a year ago, at the San Jacinto location, our son, who was then teething & about 1 year old, bit another child. This incident resulted in our son being put on restriction, and notes were added to his file. This experience led us to cancel both the daycare services and my husband’s membership at that time.

Fast forward to about 3 weeks ago, my husband rejoined the gym, and we decided to restart the daycare services. Upon our return, we were informed by the daycare staff that there was still a note from the San Jacinto location about the previous biting incident. This note has unfairly labeled our son, now two years old, as a problematic child.

Recently, our son was involved in another biting incident, and we were called in by the daycare staff. The parents of the child who was bitten were supposedly upset, but in reality, the mother was understanding and remarked that "they're just playing." Despite this, our son was the one crying when I arrived, and the other child appeared unhurt. This reinforces our belief that the daycare staff harbors a bias against our son due to the old note.

The incident policy from Powerhouse Gym states that they have a zero-tolerance rule for any type of violence, with a five-visit limit to assess the child’s behavior before any long-term restriction. However, this policy does not seem appropriate for very young children, such as those aged 1-3 years old, who are still learning about acceptable behavior. It is unrealistic and unfair to expect toddlers to fully understand and adhere to such strict behavioral expectations.

Children at this age are naturally more prone to incidents like biting as part of their developmental process. Instead of labeling them negatively, it would be more constructive to have a supportive approach that understands the developmental stages of young children. The staff should be better trained to handle such situations with patience and understanding rather than immediately imposing restrictions. What are the legalities of enforcing these restrictions to kids ages 1-3?

We were told that we can only come on a 5 visit for 30 minutes as he's under probation. A 2 yr old toddler being put on probation like he's a criminal is just way too extreme and exaggerated. We only come to this location for the 1 hr infrared yoga so it doesn't make sense for us to stay for 30 mins, how are we supposed to deal with this restriction?

When I asked what if we don't come for few weeks and come back in a month or two, the daycare lady said, "well he still need to do go thru the restriction/probation process". This is totally unacceptable! If our child is 5 yrs or older and he's harming other kids, this would make sense but again, how can you apply this treatment to a 2-yr old?

Given our experiences and the perceived unfair treatment by the daycare staff, we have decided to cancel the daycare services and my husband's membership once again.

We strongly urge Powerhouse Gym to re-evaluate their daycare restriction policies, especially for very young children, to ensure they are fair and developmentally appropriate.

We hope that future policy adjustments will create a more supportive environment for all children.

Updating my review to one star. If I could give 0 for this specific location I would (I want to note this review is specific to the Murrieta location & not a reflection of all franchises - we love Menifee!).

After posting my review, they sent me a message to inform me that my negative review and “recent actions as a guest have breached guidelines” and impacts my ability to come as a guest LOL aka they are BANNING ME for speaking up.

After my original review, my partner & I were able to get a refund by going through the management team at Powerhouse Menifee (which I 10/10 recommend by the way - can't say the same about Murrieta). I attended the Murrieta facility as a guest last weekend, and decided to kindly let Olga at the front desk know that the situation was taken care of thanks to Menifee. Here is how the conversation went:

As I was leaving, "Just wanted to update you that the refund got approved after all by Menifee - I’m glad they were able to help us out”.

She responds, "I'm sorry, do you have a problem with our club?"

I responded, "Not at all, I just wanted to let you know that they situation was able to be taken care of even though you said it was not possible."

After this I walked away. I didn't engage in any further comments, and throughout that mini conversation we did have that I posted above, I did not raise my voice, yell, cuss, or anything. I felt like she was trying to instigate me by asking if I had a problem, but nonetheless, I didn’t feed into it. I was simply sharing with her that a situation was resolved thanks to Powerhouse Menifee's willingness to help.

I guess people aren’t able to speak up now a days or a business will ban you.

I am writing this out in hopes that I am able to reach the upper management in charge of Murrieta Powerhouse and have Olga spoken to in regards to how she should talk to guest, handle customer service situations, and use (and not abuse) her powers.

Previous Review:
Customer service (0 stars) - We tried to cancel our membership last month. We were told if we submitted cancellation day of when our next payment goes through, we wouldn’t get charged the next month by the manager, Olga. Their cancellations are handled by a third party company (abc financial). We submitted it via the email provided and were told different information by ABC: our next payment would still be going through because February has 28 days and their cancellation policy is 30 days unless Powerhouse could contacted them to tell them the same information they told us. I played phone tag with Powerhouse and ABC to get nothing resolved. Powerhouse told me that all things membership related were handled by abc and abc told me powerhouse dealt with special cancellation requests. I use to work for a gym for 8 years and know that what abc is saying is correct — a simply email to abc can resolve the problem OR an email to upper management can approve a cancellation request day of. Example: My boyfriend actually got his sister’s membership cancelled at powerhouse without a 30 day notice because he had talked to the owner’s son who happened to be at the gym that day and took care of it day of no questions asked. The gym I worked at also used ABC so Powerhouse gave us unnecessary pushback and stress from no reason. I just want what was told to us to be honored, and instead we got charged pointlessly for another month.

Cleanliness (5 stars): hands down the cleanest gym I have been to.

Childcare (2 stars): they have 3 strike rule for children’s behavior. If the child gets all 3 strikes the kids are suspended for a week— if that was it then it would be fine. However, they basically punish and inconvenient the parents by requiring them to attend 5 visits at the gym for 30 min in order to remove the suspension which makes zero sense to me. Why would I drive 20 min to get a 30 min workout and then drive 20 min to go back home? That’s so inconvenient for the parent and a waste of time. It would make more sense allow me to keep my kid home for a week and release them from suspension after.

One of the WORST gyms i've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Lied to time and time again, super unfriendly and unhelpful when fixing an issue that is THIER fault. Liars and cheats. Once I cut my ties with this place i will never be back

As a person who regularly works out at different times of the day, I love that the gym is open 24 hrs. That being said, any time I go, every staff member is super friendly and helpful. The workout areas are constantly maintained clean and organized. The variety of channels on the tv's are always interesting to watch. Usually I'll listen to my own playlists, but in the events I forget to bring my ear buds,the music is diverse and motivational. There are plenty of every type of equipment so there is minimal to zero wait for machines. Also, hardly ever are the machines out of order, and when they are, they are fixed within the hour. I've had regular memberships to several other gyms but Powerhouse Murrieta holds itself to an elevated standard.

Went as a guest and do not recommend this place. Dirty, smelly, air conditioning is out and it is humid as hell. Workers on their phones the entire time I was there.

Dirty environment. Broken machines and weights are cracked. Everytime I come here the tanning beds are unavailable, down for no reason, broken, under maintenance. The employees never know anything that's going on here...because they are always new employees. People quit this job all the time, it's a revolving door. Managers are non existent here and it shows. I'll be canceling my membership today. Won't be renewing.

The “influencers” are really getting out of hand, they have zero gym etiquette or courtesy and will set their tripod and camera wherever they want even if you were already at a certain bench or machine.

This gym is actively encouraging “influencers” to record and promote and they are forgetting about the regulars who just want to workout.

Great experience. In 2020 I first signed up but had to cancel a year later due to my work. I had read some reviews saying they were cheated and their money was being stolen but my experience was flawless. I tried in person but they gave me a small note with a phone number to call. It was canceled within five minutes, note: You'll be charged one final month then you're done which worked out for me perfectly. I went with Anytime Fitness because they had the locations I needed between work but in 2023 the Murrieta location closed down. Truly saddening but eventually came back to Powerhouse and I find it's still great. The prices went up but that's expected and nothing unreasonable. They have plenty of squat and benching stations, a lot of dumbell benches and stations, and nearly everything. Some equipment they should get is the hip inductor/abductor machine but they have pretty much everything else. The only thing I wish they would sometimes improve on is having a cooler temp, especially in the colder winter times you'd expect that it would be easier to do but the inside is always clean and everything. I always see them doing proactive maintenance and a machine is never broken for long. Water fountain has a refill station and filters are always clear. I recognize some workers from before I canceled the first time so it's nice to see they likely treat and pay their employees well.

Vince is awesome!! He pays attention to detail, has the gym clean and machines all in working condition! I e been a member for 3 years! Madison is always so great even after doing her overnight shift! Love this place! I’ve tried a few other gyms but PowerHouse is by far the best with ultimate customer service!

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. Everyone who works there is pointless, they literally can’t do anything besides take your money.

I’ve been trying to cancel my membership for months, email after email, phone call after text. They absolutely refuse to cancel my membership.

Do not get a membership here, they will never let you leave. Literal thieves, it’s so shameful this places business practices,
