Ross is definitely someone to look up to as a coach and mentor. I do strength training and powerlifting with him, and he keeps the motivation going throughout every session. Ross has a ton of knowledge in exercise science and corrective training.

Ross is a patient, clear, and positive personal trainer. He doesn't just make a training plan once, he constantly adapts to how I show up for a particular session or when I surprise him with news of a minor injury I managed to sustain since the last session. The trainer Ross is the man. He really knows what he’s doing, is attentive, and cares for his clients. I would highly recommend this place. The only way you’re going to find it is knowing about it ahead of time. You cannot see the gym from the street. I would recommend a sign. Business, nevertheless, seems to be running great. The man at the desk was kind and pointed me to the back where there is a beautiful yard to hang out in before the session as I arrived early. Thank you for your services, I will be back again.

I've been working with Ross for over 8 months now and have never felt better. He customizes each workout and has a lovely energy about him. I sought him out as I was looking for strength training to supplement my yoga, swimming, and biking and am starting to feel as strong as I felt as a college athlete over 10 years ago again. I would highly recommend to anyone of any level - Ross has a special way of meeting you where you are and getting you very strong! Ross was excellent - zoned in straight away on the things that were going to be most beneficial. I'd a super stiff hips and lower back. The session was right on point. Great mix of strengthening and stretching at the right challenge level. I've worked with several trainers over the years, and Ross is hands-down one of the best. He puts a considerable amount of effort at the beginning of your time together into finding out where you're at--your goals, current level of activity, what kind of exercise you enjoy, and even previous injuries--so he can tailor a program that's right for you. I've been working the program Ross designed for a week now and already feel the difference. My lower back and knees (pain points--literally--in the past), feel great, and I'm actually enjoying the workouts.
There are a lot of options for personal training out there. If you want the best--someone who is patient, encouraging, and attentive, you owe it to yourself to give Ross a try.

Ross Dempsey's approach for helping me me on my fitness journey is phenomenal. After an initial consultation, he summarized three actionable and measurable goals based on my story and how I felt about my body. He put into words something I could attain over a long period of time; lowering my BF%, improving my posture, and increasing strength in weaker muscle groups. Our workout was truly focused on these aspects. I'm a really curious person, and Ross was really open and friendly with all the many questions I had. He taught me many effective exercises and stretches for posture and actually proper technique in the excersises I already do. I was doing so many things too heavy and not letting my less dominate muscles do much work. Now, armed with a lot of the consult and help, I know the next 6-12 months of my life are going to look totally different compared to if I haven't seen him. There's so much more I can say, but to sum it up, train with Ross. You might learn a thing or two :)

I just finished my 1st half marathon after running with Ross for about 3 months or so. I am happy with the progress and improvement made during this period of time. I typically run a zone 2 long distance with Ross and the club every Sunday. Ross would plan the running route and lead the group and all I do is to show up and run.
I do CrossFit during the week and want to improve my endurance but haven’t been motivated to run a long distance by myself. Ross and the running club is just perfect for me at the right time and it helps me to achieve my personal goal. Ross always shares what he knows and passes on running experience which is incredibly valuable to a beginner. Since training with Ross, I have shed a few pounds of fat and also felt confident in running. Highly recommend to whomever either wants to improve the overall fitness level or just get better at running and improve on endurance.

I recently met Ross through the Progression Run Club (PRC) he leads. It came at the perfect timing for my final few long training runs for a half marathon. While I already run with Golden Gate Running Club (GGRC), I’ve been welcomed with open arms by PRC. 😊They definitely helped me feel more prepared keeping a mellow group pace for the 10+ mile runs and showed me I’m capable of more. No matter what your experience or pace, Ross and the other PRC members make everyone ready to crush their goals. Ross as well as some of the other trainers in PRC also come with a wealth of knowledge. Ross is consummate professional. He listens extremely closely and asks very meaningful questions. I've worked with trainers that have had a bit of an ego, and it is clear from the first moment that Ross is interested in one thing: helping you be your fittest self for the long term. I told him what my workout routine was, and how many days a week I was working out. I was half-expecting him to trash it and tell me I was doing it all wrong. Instead he encouraged me to keep with and offered to observe a workout, make some tweaks, and add his considerable experience to help me achieve the goals I'd set for myself. I've had an outstanding experience with Ross and would give him highest recommendations for anyone serious about getting results. At nearly 50 and coming off of an ACL full reconstruction, I had blown up on weight, and really reached a sad level of personal fitness (10-12 hrs per day in front of computer, etc.). As a former runner, my attempts at re-entry kept getting stalled for fear of re-injuring the knee, and having pain in hamstring. After 1 month of strength training with Ross I gradually got back into running. Now three months in I ran 50 miles in June (the mileage I was hitting pre- ACL reconstruction), I've lost a ton of weight, and I've got a ton of strength and energy back. I'm aiming at a half marathon in a few months now, and so far beyond my initial goal of simply getting back to being able to run a few miles, a few times per week. This guy knows what he's doing and I think anybody that's motivated to put the work in, is going to get extraordinary results with Ross.

Even then, Ross was still able to explain and demonstrate all exercise techniques with great ease and approachability. The pacing, intensity, and care given to our session was remarkable. Ross gave me an excellent experience with a workout "At the Yard Gym" in San Francisco. His introduction of cardio and strength exercises was just what I needed to learn to start an exercise program. He provided clear instructions and answered all my questions. He made sure to give me exercises as to not aggravate some injured areas I incurred many years ago. After being unable to run long distances for five months due to an ankle injury and severe plantar fasciitis, which left me immobile during that time, I approached Ross with the goal of rebuilding my body strength to resume running. When I began training with Ross, I couldn't run more than three miles without experiencing excruciating foot pain. Moreover, I sought to broaden my repertoire of workouts beyond running and establish a consistent exercise routine. Over the course of approximately one and a half months, I engaged in twelve one-hour sessions with Ross, focusing on weight exercises targeting my legs, ankles, and upper body. I can confidently affirm that Ross helped me achieve my objectives.
I have now reached a point where I can run seven miles without any discomfort, and I have successfully integrated other forms of exercise into my routine. I have been working with Ross on and off for three years. Under his direction, I got into and maintained the best shape of my life. He coached my strength training and nutrition through multiple sporting events, including a marathon (hit a PB of 3:24), and a BJJ competition (got destroyed, but this was nothing to do with Ross' coaching 😆).
Ross put himself in my shoes, met me where I was (unlike some PTs who force THEIR goals on you), created an action plan to get me to where I wanted to be and walked with me to the finish line (giving me the credit). It's hard to write this without bias because he has been great. Empathetic + action-orientated = results.
Simply put: If you want to get in shape, Ross is that guy.

I have been working with Ross through his online personal coaching for the last 4 months and I highly recommend working with him! I have worked with a few different trainers over the years and one of the best things about Ross is that he is so available to his online clients - weekly check ins, bi weekly phone calls, shared tracking sheet, and communication via email or WhatsApp for any questions or training clips etc. as often as needed. He has provided me with the accountability I was seeking by following up on how my workouts went as well as if I hit my sleep, step, and nutrition goals each week. Ross is super knowledgeable and has worked diligently with me to improve my technique on squats. I absolutely loved working with Ross for about 6-8 months in total. Ross and I wanted to work on trimming down the remaining stubborn body fat I currently had while not compromising my health, mood or muscle mass too much.
I reached a very healthy level of leanness while maintaining muscle mass and increasing my levels of stamina. My overall knowledge of fitness has increased since Ross passed on a lot of his own knowledge and research throughout the program, which was very educational and beneficial from an academic perspective.
I can safely say that I have a lifetime of tools and techniques to stay fit & constantly lean, due to working with Ross. I’ve learned how to accurately track my food and activity. I can also enjoy whatever foods I want in a disciplined and flexible manner and without feeling guilty.
Ross gets straight down to business and gets to the point quickly. He doesn't waste time and he's always about coming up with an action plan and figuring out ways to improve. He always comes up with very practical ways of doing things (things I would never even think of). He's very accommodating and rather than telling you what to do, he would challenge your assumptions and ask you what you think is the best solution and then he would make solid suggestions and provide guidance based on your ideas.
With all of that said, you should definitely work with Ross if you want to achieve your fitness, health and nutrition goals. He is your guy. Ross will guide and lead you in the right direction but you have to keep your end of the bargain and do the work behind the scenes. That's what it's all about.
