I had never taken a barre class before, but Pure Barre Hillcrest was so welcoming that I immediately signed up for a years membership and am and working my way to 100 classes! The facility is clean and all the instructors are so professional, friendly and just so good at teaching. I’m hooked. Thank you for getting me back in shape. I’m also now experiencing zero knee pain.

I went this evening at 630p and it was fantastic! The instructor was attentive and knowledgable, she was great gave very clear instructions and examples! It was my first barre class and very challenging. I am feeling muscles I have not ever been able to target especially in my legs and glutes and my abs. I will return!! Thank you for the wonderful class.

210 classes ago, I started my Pure Barre journey not even knowing what a forearm plank was. I had never done a plank in my life and didn’t have the strength to lift myself off the carpet. Fast forward to today—I can get my body off the floor AND even hold side planks (with the right grippy socks, of course 😉).

Thank you for motivating me every day to keep showing up, getting stronger, and continuing my fitness journey. Pure Barre Hillcrest has truly transformed what I thought I was capable of! 💪✨

I’ve been going to Pure Barre for over 10 years, but consistently since 2019. I have over 900 classes and each class still gives me a great workout. It’s bc Pure Barre changes things up to keep their long-term clients motivated to keep coming back! They have 4 formats:
Classic (regular barre)
Empower (cardio)
Align (kind of like a barre-yoga fusion)
Define (big weights)

I love the music too! The classes normally fly by! It’s a super fun workout, and after trying it a few times, you see why many of the clients there have 500+ classes. If you’re new, keep coming back. It’s a lot at first. It can be frustrating bc it’s a lot of tiny movements that take a bit of time to get used to. But keep a positive mindset and just keep coming back. Pretty soon you’ll be hitting class milestones and signing the barre.

LOVE coming here. It honestly changed my life after not working out for a while. The coaches are amazing and very helpful. I am so much stronger than when I first started in January. The feeling of community is beautiful, as well.

I have been fortunate to belong to the PB Hillcrest community for 4 years. From the warm, positive, and encouraging energy that each member of the teaching and management team brings to every class, to the variety of class formats available, to the excellence of the workout, I cannot adequately state my gratitude for this space and community.

Terrible experience, never going there again.

I called to ask about the studio and the manager answered me and kept on telling me all the 'great things' about her studio and booked me to a class. I asked whether I should do anything beforehand but she mentioned that I only need to arrive a few minutes before the 11:00AM class.

Next day, I arrive at 10:45AM but I see the studio was closed, I called around 5 times but no answer, only after the class ended and suddenly that nice manager turned into a devil and kept on blaming me for 'not arriving on time' and that 'maybe Barre isn't for you', she was also extremely rude on the phone. Never again would want to deal with someone with this personality, hope you learn something from this and turn into a decent human being at some point

I am extremely disappointed with Pure Barre Hillcrest. I arrived at 10:59 AM for my scheduled class, after paying for parking and driving 30 minutes to get there, only to find the doors locked and a sign saying the front desk was closed because class was in session. Who closes their doors before class even starts?

I rearranged my entire morning to attend this class, so to say I’m frustrated is an understatement. I’ve been to many studios before, and none of them operate like this. Most studios not only keep their doors open up until class starts, but even allow a few minutes of grace for late arrivals. To shut people out who have made the effort to come on time is baffling and unacceptable.

This experience was gravely disappointing, frustrating, and honestly shocking. I will never be coming back here again, and I cannot recommend this studio to anyone looking for a welcoming or professional experience.

I took classes with Ray and Lindsey at Pure Barre Hillcrest and WOW—both of them were absolutely fantastic! I was shaking from start to finish in the best way possible. Their energy, cues, and teaching were all on point.

The studio itself is so cute, super clean, and just has the best vibe. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming—it honestly made me want to pack up and move to San Diego! Can’t wait to come back the next time I’m in town.

In my experience with barre, mats are pretty standard so it threw me off that they don’t really use mats during the workout. My knees were literally in pain afterwards because the flooring is so uncomfortable. I did really enjoy my instructor, Lindsay. She was motivating, helped to correct form, and her queues were great. But I just didn’t enjoy the class itself. I think perhaps the intro Engage class is too many different formats packed into too little time. Lastly, there was a lot of pressure to commit to a membership afterwards. When I was honest that I wanted to look around at some other studios before committing, the manager seemed really surprised, almost like she expected me to sign up right then. She also lied and said we could only get a discount off the membership if we signed up that day, but since then I’ve gotten multiple texts and emails offering the same discount. They just seemed super desperate to get me to sign up immediately and the energy felt a little off-putting. Anyways, I definitely don’t think Pure Barre is the right studio for me, but worth trying for yourself!

Not sure why they dont offer the classic class every day. Every wants it but the owner seems to ignore the requests that the teachers are given constantly. Also a 6am class is early and a 9:30am class is late. It seems who ever schedules classes isn’t listening either. i just came back from another state who has classics offered at good times and everyone was much happier. I guess since closing downtown’s studio they have too much business to care what the customers want.

Love this studio, but i came in right at 829 and then went to the restroom, so i walked into the class a few min late but was in the studio, as i walked in the instructor told me i couldnt stay bc i entered after the class started. I have never had this happen to me before especially since i was physically in the studio and went to the bathroom. I understand that being late or to the min isnt ideal but it was so sad to be turned away. I even explained i was meeting a friend and she was right there. I showed up to move my body and love the workouts there, so it was a shame that they wouldnt allow me to stay for the class. I was hoping there would be a little bit of flexibility especially since i was still let into the studio, its not like i was driving or outside. Wasnt aware that it was so strick, but good to know going forward. Just figured id post for feedback and see if this is standard.

Corporate scam. I've never been to a barre work out that required special socks, I booked a class through classpass, struggled to park, paid to park, only to be told I couldn't join without buying 20 dollar socks. They should have loaners for first time customers if they can't make exception to the policy but all other gyms don't require them and I don't see why they are necessary. Also to offer only extremely fancy options rather than am affordable pair feels real scammy, are they really that hard up for money?. The desk person was rude about it and also told me I couldn't wear shorts "for the comfort of others". Why should my comfort make others uncomfortable? Sounds like body shaming to me. Will not be going back

I'm submitting this on behalf of my girl friend.
I had a great experience until I tried canceling my membership. When I attempted to cancel my membership, I was informed that I needed to cancel 30 days in advance to avoid getting billed for the next month. I was not told this when I signed up. When I asked for a refund for the month after I canceled my membership, they told me that they could only reimburse me if they charge me a $350 fee for canceling early. None of this was told to me when I signed up.

Reccomend disclosing this as people sign the documents!!!!

Eva ( the owner) is a scammer!!!
I canceled my membership months ago and she stills charging me. I see charges on a daily basis, it’s so frustrating, she blames it on corporate and corporate states that she’s in complete control of the finances.
RUN AWAY !!!! from that place she’s vile, it’s not worth the headache dealing with her, she’s a horrible manager and a scammer.

I absolutely love Pure Barre - Hillcrest . I've been to many different barre classes, but none are as tough and effective as Pure Barre. Although it is tough, it is somehow fun. The music helps you zone out and the instructors are always saying encouraging comments about how this is your time and to make it count. The classes is divided up into different sections, but you always do different moves so even if you go every day, you won't get bored. They also change up the music so that makes it super fun! I've been going to Pure Barre for years and the instructors are still implementing new exercises all the time.

I love the upbeat and positive vibes of this studio! The parking isn't bad (especially since it's Hillcrest) and the instructors and front desk ladies are super nice and helpful.

Also, if you are brand new to Pure Barre, stick with it! :) I promise you don't need any ballet experience. Also, I hated the first barre class I ever took (it wasn't Pure Barre) but now it's my very favorite workout!! And don't worry if your legs shake--they are supposed to! It's a good thing! I wish someone had said that to me after my first barre class. I felt like a shaking dummy! The shake zone is optimal so shake away, girl! Change those muscles!

Love Pure Barre but this location is awful. I’ve attended several classes - none have started on time. I’m always early but have accepted the sometimes 10 minutes late start. On a weekend class, the instructor came to open the studio late (with her husband). She infomed they were running errands. Okay - that’s fine once in a while I suppose. Unprofessional but I accepted it. Other times the class has started typically 5-10 minutes late. Today I had signed up for the 11:30 AM class. Unable to find parking I was 30-60 seconds late to walk in the door and it was locked. Two others who had signed up were there as well trying to get into the class. The instructor could see us and shooed us away. Are you kidding?! I understand being on time but I’ve come to class and the instructor has been late, the door has been locked, the class started late time after time. You can’t have it both ways. I would not recommend this location.

I arrive anticipating a hard and challenging workout and leave feeling fulfilled, accomplished and ready to rule the world. I have yet to experience an instructor who didn't "raise the bar" on the level of difficulty and exertion required to complete a Pure Barre experience. The Norfolk studio encourages and praises those willing to meet the challenges full on; and we leave a bit dazed yet thrilled that we took it to our next personal level.
