When I work out at Purfit Athletic, I feel that I’m in a community of dedicated people of all ages wanting to be healthier and fit. The gym is well equipped with weight machines, free weights, pulley systems, stretching areas, and more. The trainers and staff are tremendous and helpful. Omar, the fitness director, is particularly friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful with any exercise or piece of equipment. Brenda at the front desk is so kind, efficient, and pleasant. All in all, an outstanding place to work out in Palm Desert and the greater the Coachella Valley.

Careful when you join this gym. I was a member for over 4 years and the hours don’t align with my work schedule so I had to cancel. They charge you for another month after you cancel AND want you to provide relocation and pay another cancellation fee which the minimum is 100$ and if your membership is higher they’ll charge you the highest price. Like why is canceling a gym always a hassle. I loved this gym because how spacious and not too crowded but that was ridiculous. Plus they charge you double once a year for “maintenance” like cmon
Edit: Never did I say yall charged me 100 for relocation, but I’m assuming you’re a man and men can’t read properly so it’s okay. You guys charge people for canceling that’s the bottom line. why else would the manager ask me if I want the final 40$ to be charged the day I went in or the 22nd? If you really don’t charge people then I shouldn’t see any further charges on my account if not I will be happy to make another edit of actually accountability until then my review is my experience which is honest.

Lots of equipment, clean facility, knowledgeable personnel, and lots of extra treatments to assure your improvement, all of it these points this gym has… but you still have to come here and there is nothing more inviting than feeling welcomed…I had personal issues to stay absent from the gym for months. I also experienced fraudulent charges on my account. It's frustrating to see the owners responding to negative reviews trying to "save face," especially when there have been multiple reports of clients being scammed or unfairly charged — myself included.

At this point, it's clear this isn't an isolated incident, but a pattern of behavior. I would not recommend this gym to anyone. Proceed with caution and watch your bank statements carefully if you decide to sign up.

This place forced me into a contract I can’t get out of. Even after I moved away and my contract ended, they keep insisting on charging me. It feels like a total scam, and they clearly care more about squeezing money out of people than providing a fair service.

LOVE THIS GYM....This is a great gym, one that I would definitely recommend. The staff is exceptionally knowledgeable in particular, Omar, Brenda, and of course the owners Anthony and Wanda. I always look for a gym that has a supportive atmosphere so I can reach my fitness goals. My husband and I joined in January of this year and we have felt well cared for throughout our time at Purfit! We have both been working with trainers. The trainers are very knowledgeable and design your program according to your individual needs. My strength and endurance have already greatly improved and I have genuinely appreciated the assistance we’ve received from all staff members. They have a wide variety of weight, machines, cardio equipment, and fitness/heath programs available. With a membership, you receive an orientation. Since we also decided to purchase several training sessions, we received a comprehensive assessment to determine an appropriate trainer match for our needs. This is truly the first fitness center where I’ve felt completely at home. The fitness manager, Omar, runs a tight ship and does not tolerate improper behavior of anyone who is rude or disrespectful to other members. It’s unfortunate that the front desk manager has zero customer service skills. As evidenced by his surly demeanor. I’m moving into the area and wanted to test drive a few gyms to see which one would be the best fit. This is not the one I’ll choose. Although I was denied the week pas by him, I would have been happy to pay for a day pass had his behavior been amenable. Not what you say-but how you say it.

I have been a member of Pure Fit for five years. This is absolutely, positively the best gym in town. The staff including Robert, Omar, Brenda, Phil, Peter, Jacob and everyone else is professional, courteous, and friendly.

The equipment is top-notch and well maintained. The gym itself is a spacious and well laid out. The members are friendly. The hours very good. Overall, a great experience and I would highly recommend this gym to anyone contemplating a new membership.

I have been a gym goer for decades. I have had a lot of training and taken a lot of classes. I have achieved my best results with Omar’s semi private class. His personal attention to each exercise and hand picking the trainers that teach the class is exceptional. He was very rude and looks as if he hated being there. Employees that guests first see when they walk through the doors should be inviting and wanting to help. Omar was the complete opposite. I have paid membership fees for 2 of my grandsons who live in Palm Desert for a couple of
years. They live in Palm Desert, we live in Arizona.
One grandson moved to San Diego ( college) so I called PUREFIT Gym and talked with a very nice guy and asked him if I could transfer one of the memberships to their younger sister and was told no problem. He took her name and information.
She has been going since last November. I noticed on my credit card that I’ve been not only charged for 2 memberships but THREE . The cancellation was never enacted. I called to ask what happened and the “ manager” Brenda, said that I never sent in a cancellation email. WHAT??? No one ever told me I had to! She claimed that their records indicated that I had talked to a lady who told me that. I NEVER talked to a woman and no one ever told me I had to send an email. So they will not reimburse the $210. We are elderly, on a fixed income and this is huge for us. She was rather rude, direct and matter of fact. Was not going to budge. She acted as though she didn’t believe me and I ABSOLUTELY was never told to send in a cancellation email. You feel really helpless when you have no recourse. It makes me so sad.

I've been to all gyms in the valley Best Gym in the area by far beats any overpriced fancy gym such as DMF or universal, community is friendly as well as staff The equipment is maintained by the best handyman who regularly inspects and ensures the quality of the gear However my one reccomendation is to allow guests to request music that is played as opposed to only play 70's rock and y2k pop, I and many others agree on this subject.

Was harassed by an instructor named Kirby my first month there. Nothing was done about it. I heard this place was ran by another veteran so I thought I would sign up. During the altercation, I remained calm and professional because I had done nothing wrong and was shocked as to why a man would think it was okay to approach two women and scream at the top of his lungs to assert authority. He didn't just scream either he was verbally abusive, demanding an apology and putting me down. It was disgusting and I no longer felt safe. I never thought I'd join a gym in which hires men such as this, a person needs to feel comfortable in ther environment especially women. Not only that but while being there I heard multiple women talking about being stalked or harassed by other members, so I refused to continue and canceled my membership. They will tax on even more money regardless of the 30-day cancelation time frame of a month to month and play NEWS all day as if it isn't stressful enough, having all tv sets playing the news on the candidates and President. Go somewhere else.

It’s an ok gym if you like equipment that is older. Equipment could be much better, squat racks are not Rogue or anything similar. Dumbbells are dated as well. Space gets crowded as there’s too much equipment in tight spaces. Not a very friendly gym as staff doesn’t even say hi to you, so not very welcoming at all. Front desk staff was helpful and friendly. Big gym but dated.

The World's Gym is good. There are not a lot of people going the gym right now. Which is good because you have a lot of space to do a lot of things. However, they want you to wear a mask which anyone can understand but it's very hard to breathe wearing a mask and trying to work out. This gym has managed to stay open despite other gyms in Riverside county forced to close due to covid19. They are certified by a doctor as essential therapy and using safe protocols. Moved to Palm Desert a few months back and as a 16 year member of 24 Hr. Fitness - found the Indio location a little to far for convenience. Looked at "all" the gyms within 6 miles of where I lived and joined World Gym.

They do a good job organizing space per sq foot w ample free weights / machines - fitness classes are popular - parking is a breeze and the facility including locker rooms are kept clean. I'd say the members lean towards a more mature group which I qualify. Major highlight is that both the members & staff are very friendly & accommodating. Overall a great "workout" gym...

I normally work out at this facility, but seriously thinking of switching gyms. The locker room has had some issues, ever since I arrived in the valley, March of 2018. Today has been the worst. It smelled of feces, and there was actual evidence on the floors, walls, and the toilet. DISGUSTING!!

Now they are attempting to collect over $300 for a gym I haven't been to in 5 months. And reporting negative on my credit. I taught the membership was ouststandings. First off all I’ve never been brushed up on so smoothly. First I looked at her and then she looked at me. The sauna had me so sweaty knees weak arms were heavy. I tried the alipticals and have never felt a stretch go so far in my entire days. My body yearns for worlds and worlds for mine. If I could speak one word of worlds gym Palm Desert it would be “scallops”. My coldasack was so empty but now the people run on it day in and day out. I called over my platypus friends to the wilderness and they flopped till dey dropped. I’m so glad Worlds gym didn’t have a policy on alcohol because I’ve never been drunk at a gym before or any other event ever. My mother still talks about the plethora of goods worlds gym Palm Desert offers. I can hear her whispers in the wind. I still love mama Maria here she goes again my my. The glow stick party had my shorts so tight I thought the water hoses would never leave my site. Basically to say I love worlds gym Palm Desert and i’ll Never leave my baby apple bottoms. As soon as I reached the front desk to ask for the information, I was rudely interrupted and told “I hope you don’t think this is a daycare, because it’s not”
I brushed it off and asked for the information and she led me to Zach, who cares more about selling me their best packages then listening to what I was looking for in a gym.
P.s. before walking in their, I had it in my mind to pay for the membership right then, I just wanted to meet the trainer I would be working with mainly

Absolutely a fantastic gym. Just joined 2 months ago and the staff could not be more helpful and accommodating. Their trainers are for real , got a complementary class with a trainer and ended up signing for a few sessions.

The place is very clean and has all the necessary equipment for all your work out needs. Great job guys

WORST GYM EVER. They had a wonderful yoga instructor who they proceeded to fire after a few complaints. Meanwhile, everyone else loves him. In fact, we brought over about 6 people to join the gym specifically for his yoga class. HOWEVER, this was not the problem. Once we called to express our concerns over the firing, the owner began to get hostile and yell at us over the phone and told us we were not welcomed back. Very disappointed in th service. we feel that if some customers are allowed to express their disapproval for a particular instructor, than we should have been given the same respect to express our approval for that instructor and all customer opinions should have been taken into consideration. The owner should have never spoken to us that way and we are sharing this so you know that this is how you will be treated if you choose to join this gym.

I was a member here for 3 years, and had to cancel because they discontinued childcare. It's a clean facility with disinfectant spray and paper towels readily available for members to use before & after using machines. There are lots of machines, so I never had to wait to use one. The classes I enjoyed were Piyo, yoga, spin, and body pump. They weren't over crowded and the instructors were helpful in directing form, etc.

“PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU SHOP! “
I have never written a review in my life, but I feel compelled to inform you, the public, about my experience with World Gym Palm Desert.

I was and still am new to the area, looking to join a gym. I called to ask if I could try out a class. I was told I would have to schedule an appointment with Woodrow and speak with him. On October 11, 2017, about 15minutes prior to the class I wanted to try, I met with Woodrow and explained I was new to the area and would like to try the 5:30pm class.
He then asked if I would like to try the gym for a month, for $9.95. I said “okay, what’s the catch? “ He asked, “Do you think you can come 3 times a week for the 4 weeks?” I said sure, and he relied, no catch just as long as you can come 3 times a week. He then asked for a credit or debit card. I asked what for? He said for the $9.95, but don’t worry, we will refund you the money if you decide not to join.

Woodrow then asked me to sign the credit card machine, (like the ones at the checkout of the grocery stores) and I asked what am I signing? He told me I was signing to say it was okay to charge my card the 9.95. So I did. He then asked me to sign it again. I asked why? He said it was to verify that I agree to come 3 times a week for 4 weeks, the 4 week comfort guarantee, the yellow paper that he showed me, so I signed.

Here’s where it gets sketchy....He then showed me around the gym and where the class was about to start that I was going to try, and said, go ahead take the class and I will have your paperwork up front when you leave.
After class, I went to front desk and Woodrow handed me a sealed envelope with my name on it!
I thanked him and left! I got home and opened the envelope to find the yellow 4 week comfort guarantee, as well as, a 1 YEAR MEMBERSHIP!

I was thoroughly confused as I never discussed this with Woodrow nor did I ever see it! Looking more closely to it, my signature from the credit card machine was imposed on this contract!! Now, you tell me, that’s just WRONG!!!!!

I went to the gym to next day and brought the papers to Woodrow and let him know how upset I was! I never saw or asked about a contract, and I sure as hell didn’t sign one!!! I said I don’t want any part of this scam you have going, I’m out! He proceeded to argue with me and said you can’t quit! You will only be able to cancel this if you come 3 times a week for 4 weeks like the comfort guarantee says.

So, I said fine, I’ll come 3 times a week, follow this 4 week guarantee just like it says on the paper, but I never signed up for a 1 year contract! He told me not to worry about that it’s just procedure, that if I decided to join after the 4 weeks it’s already done ...
Hmmm...so I proceeded to follow the 4 week comfort guarantee, which by the way, meant I could only use the Palm Desert location, not Palm Springs location...in the fine print! When staying with my family part of the week in Palm Springs I was commuting over 23 miles to get there...but I drove and fulfilled the guarantee.
I then met with Glenn the Manager, who was extremely rude, and he had to check to make sure I signed the sheet up front each time I came in!
Because the 4 weeks don’t start until the day after you took your first trial class, I had one more time I needed to come! So on November 8, 2017, I worked out and had an appointment to meet with Glenn to cancel! He passed me off to another man, Derek who had me sign the cancellation form! I read it carefully and it says it will cancel but also charge an additional month! I questioned Derek and he said don’t worry about that. I said I need you to put in writing that this is cancelled and no further debits or charges will be taken from my account! He did and I have the proof!
Thought that would be the end of it, however I have received a message from World Gym, stating my monthly due is now late and a late fee would be charged!
They will be hearing from my attorney!!

The people who wrote negative reviews obviously don't care about fitness since World Gym PD has every machine and weight you could possibly want, always in good condition or quickly fixed. Machines and free-weights are top-quality.

With that said, canceling the membership is a nightmare. I've moved out of the area and it's a mandatory "walk in, fill out the form, must have a signature" cancelation "policy". Three months ago when I tried to cancel I was told I was on contract for a year, and I'd be charged for the next three months whether I wanted to cancel then or not. Then, today, another manager told me I was month to month and could cancel at any time. I pay/paid $50 per month, just fyi.

The gym facility is great. The customer service is absolutely angering.

DO NOT USE THE FREE MONTH RAFFLE

Me and my boyfriend entered a raffle for a free month access to the gym. I got a phone call that I won, so me and my bf went to check it out. They extended the offer to my bf, and had us sign a couple papers. We were told we would be charged 40 bucks, and refunded the money at the end of the "free" month.

One of papers they have you sign states you must utilize the club 3 times each consecutive 7 days. I immediately didn't sign; I told the employee that I am not sure if I will be there 3 days a week. He told me he would check in/sign in for me so I would be sure to get my refund.

Well, I suppose I didn't know that what the employee offered to do was not how they operate. 10 days later I called asking to cancel my free month (the gym is over 35 min away from me). There was confusion. They told me they'd call back. I called 3 more times, then finally 16 days later after the whole ordeal, they let me know that employee had made a negotiation that was not under their rules and would not be given to me.

Long story short, I didn't get my $40 bucks back. Worst raffle ever. Save your cash. Go to a gym that doesn't take 3 phone calls and 2 visits to cancel.

Trainers look angry all the time. There is lot of equipment but the trainers reserve areas for special training and members cannot use that equipment until they are done. It interferes with a routine workout. Currently looking for a new gym.

Very friendly Staff. Available at anytime to help you with any type of questions..The staff smiles and looks directly at you. Love coming here. My instructor, Bonnie Cole for our Sr. Exercise class is THE GREATEST!! Plays songs from the past..exercises with us...has a great sense of humor. Has control of the class and mostly takes a personal interest in you and how you are doing. Your limits and just full of smiles. The classes really enjoy Bonnie. SHE MAKES THE CLASS. and We WANT TO BE THERE. It's Fun!!

I've experienced many gyms and have had great experience with cleanliness and variety with many, what sets world gym apart is customer service, sterling to say the least. Any question or concern I've had since I've joined has been answered and resolved in a timely matter. I'll have to say, I'm treated more as a guest than a patron. It really does make it that much better to workout, thank you World Gym!!!

Please don't believe everything you read. When I moved to the desert 2 years ago, I wanted to join World Gym and when I read the reviews, I was reluctant. I did end up becoming a member and have had a great experience. I just cancelled because I am moving back to SD and they cancelled the membership as agreed. 30 day notice. Nice Gym, classes, and equipment. Customer service is getting better.

Beautiful facility, excellent group exercise instructors, convenient class schedule and lots of parking. Very well run. The only criticism I would have is that the front desk staff needs to be more friendly- maybe some customer service training. Everything else is very well executed.

This gym is a scam art!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wouldn't give this gym even one star, but since I want to write my opinion on it I had to at least give one star..
Signed myself to the gym, canceled it because of emergency, the guy in the front signed me that I'm good to go, now they claim I did not pay and they tried to run my card without my permission after I had already left.
And now customer service is basically laughing at me that I did not have $24 on my name to pay for something I shouldn't even pay for.
They did it to many people I know
Be careful!!!
It's better to pay more than deal with these people
