Iβm not a regular since I live on the other side of the city. But the Pilates classes Iβve taken are exceptional and itβs one of my favorite places in the city for a sound bath. Beautiful spaceβa world away thatβs worth the drive every time!

I really want to love this studio but the recent change in ownership has brought the quality of classes way down. Iβve tried a variety over the last year of new ownership and consistently leave disappointed. The overall vibe is different too, less friendly and more mainstream Marina-wanna-be feeling.

Wonderful studio. Excellent teachers, welcoming vibe, beautiful space. I hadnβt practiced in awhile due to injuries and was self-conscious about my new body but coming to group classes here has made my recovery so much more enjoyable than I expected.

Great classes and a thoughtful mix of teachers and styles. I completed my 200-hour teacher training here with the founder, Joy - it was such a valuable and grounding experience. Iβm glad to see sheβs still teaching here after passing the studio to new owners. Highly recommend taking one of her classes if you get the chance.

I started practicing here over a year ago, and itβs been a great experience. Thereβs a variety of classes and a mix people of all ages and skill levels, which makes it feel really accessible. The instructors are great and help you to get the most from your practice. The owners Jen and Kopal have done a lot to enhance the experience while maintaining the welcoming community vibe. Highly recommend to anyone looking to improve strength, flexibility and balance!

Brad guided us in a lovely Yin & Restorative class which ticked all the boxes for me: he emphasized listening to our bodies and where they are today, while still allowing us to go as deep as we wanted. He was great with respectful personal guidance, as well. Itβs been years since my last yoga class, and even longer since my last yin class, and it was good to come back to the mat.

Good class, but the reason for only 3 stars is because the sound for online class is garbled. It is fine when you're close to the computer but soon as you move away it is very hard to understand. If you could somehow fix that problem i would do more classes with you. π€π

I went through 200H yoga teacher training in the beginning of 2023 and I couldn't ask for more. Joy and Eric showed me how to practice not just in the studio but in a larger sense in life. If you want a yoga journey instead of just a certificate, this is the place to go. Love the community, the cohort, various teachers, this loving safe place that allows me to explore myself and practice the art of strengthening and letting go.

Joy and Erick create a sanctuary for everybody at Purusha. It doesn't matter your background, physicality, experience, body limitations or where you are in your path, here you can feel safe, encouraged, supported, accepted for who you are, and always welcomed. You can find a vigorous and challenging Vinyasa class, go deeper in the yoga sutras in their Hatha/Raja classes, have an amazing restorative session, or find the type of class that's just right for you... right now. Their workshops and trainings are also fantastic and well rounded. This studio is the best!

This is a more of a community than a business. They love having you there because YOU are an excellent person, not a revenue stream. The owners do a fantastic job of taking care of their customers while nurturing a viable, sustainable business. I AM SO GLAD MY BELOVED YOGA + PILATES COMMUNITY IS BACK!
I love the diversity of classes, the quality of instructors, and the variety of times. The Pilates instruction is also great and makes my yoga practice all the better. Restorative classes add balance. The instructors often introduce various options to make the poses more challenging or more suited for a beginner.
There is a lot of parking in the neighborhood... for San Francisco. I noticed an earlier review from someone who docked them a star because of challenging parking. There is usually a metered space in front, and free spots available one block west in front of the church/school or in the neighborhood, except maybe during peak churchgoing hours or when school lets out.
The online options are also plentiful and powerful. Support your local community - it comes back to you in so many ways.

I have been enjoying Pilates and Yoga classes at Purusha studio for the past 5 years.
Purusha Yoga studio is a very friendly neighborhood studio where you can take classes from 6AM to 9PM every day of the week. The variety of classes (pilates, hatha, vinyasa, yin, etc.) and teachers keep us all coming back for more. Whether you want to discover pilates and strenghten your back, whether you are a beginner or advanced yogi, you will find the class, workshop and teacher that meet your needs. Come and check it out!

I purchased the Groupon for 1 month unlimited classes and had a horrible experience with the studio owner Eric. Parusha has a strict late policy that they do not inform their customers of until it is violated. I walked in to class 2 minutes past the classes beginning time to find that I had been canceled! The reason Eric said was that I was actually 7 minutes late even though the class was at 11, he told me I should have been there at 10:55. I walked away utterly humiliated at the unfairness of not having been informed of the policy and yet being penalized for it. I will never take a class again at Parusha. I had been showing up to classes late according to their policy for weeks and Eric never had the courtesy to tell me his policy and instead set me up for an embarrassing situation intentionally. I would not recommend Parusha to anyone aside from my resentment towards Eric the classes are sub par and I was overall disappointed.

I was going through a very stressful period of not working and coming off a particularly toxic job, and Purusha was my grounding, my mainstay, my rock. I have taken to the yin yoga practice, and I continue to be a regular of this practice, and all the instructors I have encountered have been great. Even when one goes away on vacation, I am pretty well assured that whomever is substituting will be strong and competent.

I've had very mixed experiences at this studio. I like the space and felt welcomed when I first arrived to begin as a new member. I found some of the instructors to be very good, some to be fine, and one to be particularly awful. I'm an instructor myself - I've been teaching for 10 years and have been a student of yoga all over the world for far longer than that. I've taken some spectacular group classes and I've taken some that were really bad. Unfortunately, the class I disliked here at Parusha was one of the worst group class experiences I've had. My concerns involve the teacher's language choices, physical adjustments, and verbal cues. All three were, in my view, aggressive, invasive, inappropriate, and unsupportive. Check it out. Draw your own opinions. I won't be back.

They are articulated, generous and fun, genuinely and efficiently transmitting all their knowledge to the practitioners. Particularly I appreciate very much all the physiological and anatomical references during the practice, as well as the laughs. There's so much that makes Purusha Yoga Studio stand out from other yoga studios, both in San Francisco and further afield. I'll list a few reasons why I would recommend Purusha to a friend or associate. I feel extremely grateful to have begun my yogic journey at a studio like Purusha, where I have always felt welcome and have never encountered the air of pretension or exclusiveness that exists at other yoga studios.
In addition to feeling at ease every time I come to Purusha, I also need to point out that quality of instruction is also a factor. All of my teachers are equally amazing and cater to the needs of every student, whether they are regulars or have come to class for the very first time. Lastly, Purusha's class schedule is a serious selling point. Not only do they offer a wide variety of classes, they've designed a schedule so that there are classes at every time of the day - from early morning till late at night.
I have been to several other yoga studios in San Francisco and Purusha is still at the top of my list.

What I and so many others LOVE about this studio is the warm, inviting atmosphere, and the teachers, who are not only well-rounded in their knowledge of teaching the asanas (poses), but also in the philosophy behind yoga. This is largely due to studio owner and teacher Joy, who educates and chooses each instructor with much care. This is the place where I learned to love yoga several years ago. I always feel relaxed and "nourished" after taking a class at Purusha.

I love Purusha....it's a friendly place where yoga is offered with no judgements. Every one is encouraged to practice at their own pace and for where their body is that day. And, such a wide variety of classes, there is something for everyone. It's my favorite yoga studio in the City.

A long time student and friend of the studio. I have been to many but there isn't one better on all fronts. No attitude--yoga.

I haven't been to the studio, but I so appreciate their free yoga sessions in Golden Gate and Dolores park on the weekends! They usually post on Facebook whether or not they're having it. They could be better at this. You get what you pay for ;)
