There's hardly any parking at the Y, unless you park on the street. It was the only way to get into the Y if you want to use their facilities. As for parking itself, there is a small parking lot above the building where the pool and workouts are located. It's a downhill walk to the building.

They do not respect regular members' rights to use the pool. The golden time section of dinner to pool closed is splitted to half pool of swimming team and half pool of swimming class. Other guests has to use the outside at most 3 feet deep round play pool, yep, freezing cold at night and not for grown up swimming.
They will say no to you, no, you can not swim here, no we are closed here, at least 4-5 times a night like this.
Maybe as regular member, we do not contribute enough money to be respected. Even I send my kid on the weekend here during the day for swimming class, I still feel offended myself.

We had the pleasure of dropping in to the Y over the weekend from out of town and couldnβt recommend the facility more! I met the managers, Sebastian and Kevin, and itβs obvious they really care about their members and the upkeep of the facility. They have a very complete strength training set up (Selectorized equipment, racks, free weights, etc.) and also anything youβd need for cardio. Great equipment and great vibes all around!

Member Feedback: Pool Use Prioritized for Classes Over Families
I am writing as a paying member of the YMCA to express my deep disappointment and concern over how the pool at the Rancho Family YMCA is currently being managed.
As a working parent, my only opportunity to come to the YMCA and teach my daughter how to swim is after work, typically around 6:30 PM. Unfortunately, I was recently turned away from the pool because the designated family swim area had been closed and reassigned to swim classes. Being denied access during one of the few windows available to families like mine feels not only frustrating but also contrary to the core values the YMCA stands forβyouth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
The current approach gives the impression that maximizing revenue from swim classes is being prioritized over providing members with the inclusive, community-driven amenities we are paying for. That is not the YMCA I believe in.
I urge you to ensure that competent and community-minded leadership is in place at Rancho to balance program scheduling with member access. A more thoughtful pool scheduleβone that respects the needs of working familiesβwould go a long way toward restoring trust and reinforcing the YMCAβs mission.

This YMCA location has unfortunately been one of the more disappointing experiences Iβve had. There is no dedicated onsite parking, so guests are forced to find street parking or walk from farther lots. Additionally, there are no locker rooms or towel service available for swimmers. While the facility claims to be under renovation, thereβs no visible progress or communication on when the upgrades will be completed.
The indoor pool is restricted to swim training programs, so families and recreational swimmers are pushed into a much smaller outdoor pool β even for paying members. The limited facilities are further strained by having only two restrooms shared between the gym and pool areas, leading to long waits and occasional tension among guests.
Staff behavior, particularly among the lifeguards, has been concerning at times β Iβve witnessed instances of unprofessional conduct, including yelling and disrespectful language.
Overall, I would recommend considering other YMCA locations until this one improves its amenities and customer service.

My first day at the Ymca on Sat. 04/04/25. Was awesome. Alison and Grese helped me tremendously in the covered pool area. They went above and beyond for me. I am 66 elderly with a handicap. 2 other gentlemen were of great help also and the young lady lifeguard. I was in tears for the help I received. You rarely don't find good customer service.YMCA managers you should be proud of Alison and Grese. Thank you so much. C.Davis

I canβt recommend Coach Bob enough! When I started, I didnβt know how to swim at all. But Coach Bob took me from zero to swimming confidently and enjoying every moment of it. His patience, expertise, and encouragement made all the difference. If youβre looking to learn or improve your swimming skills, Coach Bob is the best! Thank you, Coach Bob, for everything!

I'm a member of the YMCA, and I live in San Francisco. I believe I've been to pretty much all of the ones in he city.
This past weekend I had a race on a Saturday happening in San Diego, and I was very excited to go swim somewhere else, so taking advantage of my trip for the race, I thought maybe I could go for a swim at one of the YMCA's in San Diego.
I called a week ahead just to double check that I could access the YMCA with my main location being SF, which they confirmed.
It's my first time in the city and it's fair to say that I wasn't too aware of how big it was, and the fact that having a car was pretty much necessary.
So on friday, I get ready for the pool, I take an uber ($23 from where I was staying) and get to the YMCA. Front desk staff were nice and helpful, they checked my membership and then one of them walked me around for a bit into the area.
I went into the locker room for women, and I realized there were no towels. So I went to front desk again and asked them where could I get one, "oh, we don't provide towels, sorry".
I was honestly really surprised. I'm not sure about the rest of the country, but at least all of the facilities in SF provide towels. But more than that, I believe nowadays the majority of the gyms that have a pool, will offer towels. It's basic.
I was already getting frustrated, but told myself "it's fine, just use paper towels after you're done, you're not going to waste what you just payed on an uber". I changed into my swimsuit, go to the pool, and what's my surprise to see only one lane left available, two were being used for private lessons; but the majority of the pool was taken by swim students. I asked the lifeguards until what time the students were going to be there, they said "until closure". Closure it's at 8 pm. I got there at 5 pm.
I've obviously seen private lessons and swim school at pools; but I've never had to literally leave a pool because all of it has already been designated basically to kids. I'm trying to be empathic; but let's not forget that we're also paying customers; and not being able to use an area of the facility; is not acceptable.
I ended up doing a workout in the machines, which by the way, I was surprised to see that they didn't have a wipe dispenser, instead they have ONE towel per room, next to a spray, which says "spray towel, not the equipment, then wipe". It's surprising that after a pandemic, all they offer is for everyone to touch the same towel, it defeats the whole purpose. And again, nowadays having a wipe dispenser it's basic.
Took another uber back, ($22) so I payed $45 for transportation to do a workout in a mediocre gym; because I wasn't able to use the pool.
I could've, and wish I had just used the gym at the hotel where I was staying.
Do not recommend this place.

Our overall experience with YMCA has been good. We enjoyed the pool and comparably, the restroom is very clean with updated showers. We also took lesson here and the teachers are really great. However, the pools have hours that are impractical for most working families. As a gym, the membership fee triples similar gyms in the area. We enrolled here solely for the purpose of letting our little one swim. Besides the swimming lessons, the pools are barely accessible during weekdays and have limited hours on the weekends. As a family centric facility, management should really consider adjusting the hours. We cancelled our membership after realizing we are paying more than 100 for an hour of pool usage every month.

I am writing to share my experiences with the YMCA summer camps, where my son is enrolled. While I appreciate the variety of activities and opportunities the camp offers, I have several concerns about accountability, professionalism, and potential safety measures that I feel compelled to address.
Incident 1: Unequal Treatment and Disregarded Apology
My son was involved in an incident at the pool where he and another child disregarded the lifeguard's instructions (they were throwing a wet piece of clothing back and forth). The staff rightfully took him to the camp manager, Taylor, for a discussion. However, my son was singled out while the other child involved was not held accountable. Additionally, when my son attempted to apologize to the adult involved, she dismissed his apology and told him to tell it to Taylor. This approach not only disregarded his attempt to make amends but also failed to address the situation fairly.
Incident 2: Inappropriate Staff Behavior
In another instance, a camp employee perceived a contentious discussion between herself and me (she was talking to me while I was in the middle of talking to my son. So I informed her that I didn't hear anything she just said because I was talking to my son. So she acknowledged it and waited a few seconds while I completed my conversation. Afterwards, she and I spoke cordially about whatever was on her mind at the time). Instead of addressing the matter through appropriate channels, she approached my nine-year-old son about the issue stating that I "yelled at her." This behavior is unprofessional and undermines the image of the staff as responsible adults. I communicated my concerns to Taylor, stressing the importance of staff addressing such matters with management rather than involving children.
Incident 3: Physical Attack and Inadequate Response
The final and most troubling incident involved my son being physically attacked by two brothers at camp. One of the boys attempted to kick my son repeatedly, and when my son finally pushed him away, the other brother threw a rock at his neck while screaming a string of obscenities. A camp counselor witnessed the event but only addressed the language used, neglecting to intervene or separate the boys. I reported the incident to Taylor, who acknowledged that the counselor should have acted sooner and spoke with him about it. However, the situation forced me to switch my son's camp sessions and incur additional charges, which the YMCA did not cover.
While I appreciate that Taylor facilitated a switch to another camp without an additional fee for this week, I had to pay nearly $200 extra for next week's camp (this was the only camp available), so as to avoid the boys who attacked my son. This financial burden should have been addressed by the YMCA, given the circumstances.
In conclusion, the YMCA needs to implement better controls and training for staff and prioritize safety. I hope my feedback will contribute to positive changes and improved experiences for future campers and their families.

Great clean gym rooms with sufficient training apparatuses. It's not overcrowded like some other local gyms. It's a family-friendly place with more mature members than young athlete members, plus it has a six- lane swimming pool with an additional area of shallow water for kids and anyone who prefers it . It also has swimming classes and a nice separate water playground for kids. The only thing is it does not have either a steam room or sona room

Chloe the lifeguard is literally the most awful human being I have ever met. She thinks she is queen of the swimming pool and orders people around. She glares at people in the pool. She talks negatively about people. She is nasty to the kids. She tells kids they suck at swimming. She talks nasty about people to other lifeguards. She makes up rules. I have never met such a nasty human in my life. They have nice pools but who wants to swim near someone throwing shade your way the entire time. She does it to everyone who has kids. I canβt believe she has a job!

Nice gym, but the hours are inconvenient. The swim team DOMINATES the pool from 4pm until close, only one lane open for lap swim. Closing at 8pm on weekdays is way early. Weekends are even worse, 3pm on Saturday and closed all day on Sunday. If you work a normal job, this is not the place to go, you're better off somewhere that's open more often.

Today I was doing my exercises when one of the staff members βJohnβ came to me saying are you done? I said no,
he said : you suppose do one set and move on do not stay looking at your phone!
I am following my trainer on a fitness app and looking to the instructions, so I told him what I am doing exactly
,he answered back in a very rude tone: do you know what set is?
I donβt know what on earth made him talk this way to me while doing my own business!
He needs to get retired and give opportunity to others younger than his hot temper
Very rude and disrespectful

We got a family membership to YMCA to give it a try for a month. We signed up for a couple of swim and gymnastics classes for our kids and gave it a try. We decided not to continue the membership and tried to figure out a way to cancel it.
We found there is no option on their website for this, you have to go into their facility to fill a form. However, they make you electronically sign 50 forms when you sign up for different classes. They most def. have ability to provide a way to cancel the membership online, this is them going out of their way to make it hard for people to cancel the membership.
After 4/5 attempts to reach them on phone we got the email of their membership supervisor Brady Giard. I emailed him on 28th September to request cancellation. He replies to my email telling me there is a 5 day notice requirement and that I will be charged on the 1st of the month and my membership will only cancelled end of October.
Basically they make it hard for you to cancel the membership and then proceed to steal an extra month in case you fail to go in an fill their form 5 days before EOM. Unethical practice.
I should have checked their policies in detail and asked the cancellation process before signing up. You would think it will be possible to cancel online considering how extensive their online forms with e-signatures are. But this is exactly what they are counting on to steal your money.
I would not advice signing up at this place.
____
This is the policy (one of the last points on their membership policy page) they get you on:
All requests for changes in membership accounts must be done in person at your home branch. Any changes to your membership, including cancellation requests, must be submitted at least 5 days prior to your billing schedule in order for the change to take effect for the current month.
____
Here is them warmly rejecting my request to refund my fee:
Good Afternoon, Due to our five-day cancellation policy, we cannot refund your membership fee of $85. The five-day cancellation policy we have in place, is to ensure we can accommodate all cancellations who have notified us in time. Our cut off for the billing period October 1st was September 26th and we did not receive your notice of cancelation until September 28th.
Your membership is now cancelled, and you will not see any further charges go out of your account.
Thank you for your understanding,
Warmly,
Monica

The staff are very nice and welcoming. However, the pool and splash pad open times are terrible. Why is the splash pad on Saturday only open for. 9:30-12:30. Itβs cool most mornings so kids would rather go in the afternoon. Also itβs not open on Friday evenings. Whatβs up with that?? The family swim area in the indoor pool is ridiculously small (width about 1.5 swim lanes wide and 1/2 swim lane long.) itβs jammed packed on Friday evening bc the wonβt open the freaking activity pool/splash pad. the stairs of the indoor pool are roped off for swim lessons. How am I supposed to get in and out of the pool with a 4 yr old and a 7 month old. We joined this Y for the summer for the pools but itβs a waste of money bc the pools have such limited hours.

Since pandemic, it closes too early, 8pm from Mon to Fri, 2pm on Sat, and close on Sun.
In addition, lap swim availability for members are terrible. Until 8pm from Mon to Thu, the swimming team occupies all the lanes except for one for member lap swim. Full time working people who want to swim are so frustrated with the situation

This review is only reflective of the experience weβve had with the group swim lessons. My daughter did one month of preschool level lessons and we only went to two of the classes because of how bad our experience was. They are 30 minute lessons but my daughter probably only swam for a total of 10 minutes the whole time. There were only two other kids in the class, so I figured that she would get adequate swimming time, but she did not. The class would start late and end early, and the kids were getting little to no instructions and just sitting on the pool steps freezing. I tried to reach out to the swim Director multiple times and left numerous voicemails, but was never contacted.

Worst experience Iβve ever had trying to solve a billing issue or any issue with a company. Itβs been over 5 months and they have not resolved my issue. Everytime I called I was told I would be contacted back by Monica, who is apparently in charge of scholarships and billing. Finally when I threatened to sue I received one phone call from a completely different person than the person who jI had been told would contact me back every time I had called for the passed 5 months. Finally Monica emailed me 5 months later saying she told me she would solve my issue by waiving the fee for the next month. That did not happen. I contacted her again and she told me she would resolve the issue in the next week and would call me with an update in the next few days and if she did not get me on the phone she would send an email. Did not happen. This issue is from July 15, 2021 and it is now November 29, 2021.

Great swimming teachers but the classes are always overbooked. The Feb class registration for our LO's regular session came out on Jan 15 and ran out of space within a couple of hours. Called and asked for a private lesson and got on the waitlist instead. The staff explained it's based on teacher availability. But why not hire more if it's in such high demand? The class registration is on a monthly basis. And we have put calendar reminder on the 15th every month to make sure we register right away. Still it's not enough and we lost our spot. We pay $69 month for membership and extra fees for every class we register. Couldn't understand why it's always like a competition when it's supposed to be a community place.
