I had already reached my weight loss goal when I started working one-on-one with Emily almost a year ago. My challenge was finding a trainer who was familiar with working with someone with muscle disorders (I have Systemic Lupus), who could help me improve my coordination and balance, and safely strength train.
Emily is not just amazing, she's an angel. I truly feel I found who I needed to assist me. She is very atune to my personal needs and ability, and her workouts are fun and challenging! A year later, I'm not bored with my workouts. She also has no machines in her gym, which I think is amazing. She's extremely encouraging, but also expects you to give 100%.
I've also taken a park class, and a few of the really fun Signal Hill workouts. Both were challenging, and left me feeling very accomplished. I plan on taking many more in the future.
Emily's staff is a family. You feel the commitment, encouragement, and love from each of them.
I feel privileged to be a part of the Recreational Fitness family!

Update- 4/20/2021

In the 3 years while I was Lupus flare free, I was able to jog FOUR 5k’s without stopping.
When I started flaring again, Emily and her team kept me active by allowing me to attend the Parkinson’s class until I couldn’t continue with them.
I miss working out with Recreation Fitness (ALL of the trainers) and can’t wait until I can resume fitness activity.
Emily and her team are absolutely the best- so knowledgable, professional, and fun!

I have been a client of Emily for more than a decade. She has helped me through good and bad times stay physically fit. She really cares about her clients and loves helping those who need more than standard physical therapy. Her team has even taken on those with things like Parkinson’s and seeing improvements. If you have just found recreation fitness you are in luck! The trainers are incredibly caring, thoughtful and motivating. They often surprise me with the simple effectiveness of their workouts, and they make exercise FUN! I have been going to their Fit Camp classes for six years and I look forward to every single session. If you are looking for exercise that you will want to stick with, you must check them out!

This is a fantastic group of trainers that want nothing other than your success (well, and I guess to pay their bills). The routines are tailored to your individual needs, abilities, and goals. Every visit ends with smiles and laughter as you clamor for the oxygen and water they've denied you since you walked in. I've been going here for close to a year now, and I couldn't be happier with the results!

Challenging workouts without any fear of being called out as "motivation". Emily is perpetually upbeat, classes move along quicky and I always feel great after. I attend the park classes and can bring along my kids as well which I appreciate as it's the only way I get these workouts in. Complimentary first class, no reason not to give it a try! I'm currently working with one of Recreation Fitness's personal trainers to continue rehabbing and building strength in the arm I broke 6 months ago. Excellent... Very close attention and feedback, a lot of care given to making sure I do the exercises correctly and am working at a level that's challenging but still safe. Upbeat, encouraging and not at all dismissive of my previously-underexercised self.

They help me figure out how to eat well, things I can do on my own and most importantly to me, they make my workouts fun!! Everybody here is friendly and the prices are right. You get true, one on one training at your pace. They are very mindful of any conditions you may be going through and adjust your training as necessary. I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for quality training at a good price.
