Opened in 2022, our College Area location is conveniently located right on El Cajon Boulevard only about a mile from SDSU in the Rolando Village neighborhood. We have helped train the 9-5’er starting in fitness to the pro athlete looking to push their full potential with our muscle-building group fitness formula. I’ve been going to Renegade at College for a few months now, and it’s really helped me stay consistent with my workouts. The coaches are amazing—always full of energy and encouragement—which makes a huge difference in motivating me to show up. Special shout out to Coach Rache who has invested so much into this space and it shows.

The classes are fast-paced and took a little time to get used to, but after a few sessions, I found my rhythm and started to really enjoy them. What I also really like is that they offer multiple class times throughout the day, and it’s super easy to book or cancel sessions. It makes it convenient to find a time that fits my schedule.
I’ve always struggled with getting myself to go to the gym, but having this place and community has made it easier. I always leave feeling great. I’d highly recommend Renegade to anyone looking for a supportive, high-energy fitness environment.

I can’t get over how rude Michael was. The music was so loud you couldn’t hear him whatsoever. I went to him and let him know I couldn’t hear him at all and he snapped at me “you’re the only one” which wasn’t true, everyone in my section was struggling to follow his commands. I asked him to turn up the mic volume and he said “no!” Ina very rude tone so I walked away to my next segment. When I could hear him, he was making snarky remarks about people not following direction. I don’t pay to be bullied by a workout instructor. This attitude and ego is uncalled for.

I’ve been going to Renegade for a while, and though all the instructors have been amazing in their own ways I have to talk about how much Coach Rach is investing in this location. She brings so much heart to the space and is always thinking of ways to make it better for the members. You feel it in the energy of the room. More people look up and cheer, more people are paying attention to each other, and there is a genuine air of positivity that I am so grateful for. This has been my go to gym for the last 4+ years. Initially there is a learning curve and you may have to rely heavily on reading the board and learning what some of the moves or exercises are but once you get past that, it is so nice to go to class and have your week of arms/legs/fully body exercises planned out for you. I started going to Hillcrest/north park location which I loved but my new go to is the college location. They have many different class time options depending on your schedule, memberships are very fairly priced compared to other gyms, and the coaches are great. I also love that there are so many locations in San Diego and you can go to any of them.

Renegade has officially got me back on the workout wagon after far too long. I was very nervous about returning after almost 4 years but I’m so glad I got over it. I’ve attended 3-4 classes a week for the last month and I feel amazing, truly the best way to start my day.

I frequent the College Area location - Michael and Rach are awesome. They bring good energy and offer modifications appropriately, making it approachable for people at any stage of their fitness journey. The studios are clean, organized not obnoxiously bright (weirdly one of my favorite parts). Solid workout packed into 50 minutes, goes by so fast.

Highly recommended! In this HIIT class there are 3 different stations: Cardio, Racks (weights), and Turf (kettlebells, core, movement excercises). Everyday focuses on a different muscle group and routines change weekly. The instructors here are friendly, knowledgeable, and keep the energy going!

I’ve been going to Renegade for a little over a year now and love it! Coach Mike is by far the best coach. He has such a positive attitude and his classes are always full of so much energy. He knows every single person that comes in to class, and calls us all by our names. He’s the reason I keep coming back! I wish there was afternoon classes at the college area on Fridays, but I understand why because who wants to work out on a Friday? Nobody! Other than that renegade is great and I love it!

I’ve been a member for over a year now and out of all the studios I’ve tried, this one is hands down the best. Coach Mike, who I believe is also the manager, is the main reason I keep coming back. As a fitness instructor with 15 years of experience, including teaching at Yoga Box which is a sister studio, I know how essential it is to build genuine connections with students and create a strong sense of community. Coach Mike truly excels at this. You can see how much he cares about his people. He is always engaged, offering encouragement and making sure everyone feels welcome and supported.

His workouts are challenging but safe, and he always provides great modifications for those dealing with injuries. The music is always on point, adding that extra motivation to push through.

Beyond the amazing coaching, the studio itself is fantastic. It’s super clean, well-maintained, and has plenty of parking which makes getting there stress-free. If you’re looking for a place where you’ll feel inspired and supported while getting an awesome workout, this is definitely it. Highly recommend!

I have been a member at renegade for almost 5 years. I love the program and the workouts. It’s also a fun upbeat environment that keeps you motivated. My only complaint is that they have been offering discounted unlimited memberships to new people, and refusing to allow their members that have been with them for years to pay that same price. That doesn’t show very good customer loyalty. That being said, it has now been harder than ever to get into the class times that I want because of the influx of new members due to discounted pricing.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would work out 6 days a week and love it. This has absolutely changed my life. My clothes fit better after just 3 weeks of going and I am positive that I will not stop. Every day I look forward to it. My entire body is stronger and I have way more energy. The classes have three fifteen minute blocks. In each block there are 4 to 6 exercises that you usually do 4 sets of. There is NO thinking involved, just show up and they have a perfectly planned workout for you. It’s NEVER boring, never the same, and it’s only as hard as you want to make it. I’m consistently challenged, but never overwhelmed. I’m frequently sore, but NEVER injured or have difficulty moving the next few days. The staff is friendly and helpful. Michael is a ball of energy and cracks me up every class. You can tell that he really wants what’s best for everyone. The workouts are designed by a physiologist and rehab specialist so they’re taking into account your well being on many different levels. The first time I went I was overwhelmed with all of the exercises and instructions, but if you get lost, just look to your neighbors, most of them always know what to do because they’ve been long time attendees. I cannot recommend renegade enough. I feel lucky that they are based in San Diego. Take advantage of the 3 free classes, and see for yourself! 45 min a day to devote to your health is nothing! The atmosphere is nice but overall I believe this place lacks teaching. Definitely not for anyone that is just starting the gym. You’re pretty much on your own when the class starts and are told to observe others in class to know what you’re supposed to do. I’ve seen awful form from people working out and the instructor just walking in circles not correcting or helping anyone. If I wanted to rely on seeing what others are doing and copying them I’ll just go to a regular gym.

I have taken many group classes and so far have taken two classes at Renegade in North Park. I have really enjoyed my work outs here.
They have great coaches and hype music selection. Though there are many clients working out, the coaches are constantly walking around to check in and make sure your body mechanics are safe and effective. The workouts are challenging but are just right work to kick your buns into shape.

I love the classes at renegade but the metcons are my favorite! The instructors are all really great at being knowledgeable about the movements and can recommend you substitutions if you have an injury or limitation. Highly recommend you try out renegade! Also very easy to book the classes on their app and I find you don’t have to sign up too ridiculously ahead of time to get spots!

If you’re looking for a great workout class in under 60 minutes congratulations, you’ve found it. Definitely more weight focused than other HIIT gyms I’ve taken, but without the risky Olympic-style lifts found in X-Fit. Each station has their own set of weights, which really helps when you need to increase or decrease weights on the fly. This really allows you the freedom to go heavy if you’re feeling it and is pretty rare to find in a class setting like this. Honestly, this was a big selling feature for me. Admittedly, you’re first few times will seem overwhelming as there are 3 stations you’ll rotate through and they begin every class by quickly explaining all of the lifts you’ll be doing during the class at each station. That said, just focus on the station you’re starting at and you’ll be fine. All of the coaches do an incredible job of explaining each lift in real time as you move from movement to movement, as well as circulating around to correct form and make sure everyone’s doing what they’re supposed to be doing. Wren kicked my butt in my first class after the holidays and I couldn’t be happier. Everyone is super friendly and there to work. The cost is also a great deal when you compare to other HIIT-style gyms!

I LOVE renegade! The workout and coaches are amazing and the programming makes it addicting. And isn’t that the hardest part about sticking to something? You get bored with it and need to switch it up, or lose motivation to stick with it. It’s been almost 3 years and I can honestly say I never get bored and miss it when I’m unable to go. And! I recently had a baby and it not only kept me strong and healthy during my pregnancy, but I craved it after. I can honestly say that I was intimidated up first before I went into class this morning. I’ve always heard that people that do CrossFit are nuts. When I walked into this place I was greeted by some of the from these people I’ve ever met. I was taught how to properly do the exercise, and it’s quick, fast, getting get out type stuff. That aspect I really enjoyed as a single father of three I don’t have the most time to work out. Period I got the 6 AM class and I was done right before 7 AM in time for school drop off for me to get to work convenient and it’s great. I will definitely be going back.

I've been going to Renegade since 2019 and the workouts never disappoint. It can definitely be confusing and overwhelming for your first class, but the instructors will ensure that you get the help you need and that your form is correct. Thanks to Renegade, I learned so many different types of workouts that I felt comfortable enough to go to the gym alone to do strength training on my own time. Jamie was instructor at Hillcrest Renegade 9:20am lower body/core on 1/2/23. I haven’t worked out in weeks and found this class to be perfect because you can workout at your own pace. If you want to go beast mode you can or go slower if needed with what’s comfortable for your own workout. Renegade is a great HIIT workout! Each class is well put together and I leave feeling that I worked hard in a short time span. Every coach is high energy and personable, and will help with form.

I’ve been looking for a gym nearby for a good year and I’m happy to say I’ve found it! It’s a perfect balance of cardio and strength training which I appreciate!
