Renegade is not only a great workout but also a great price. Moves are varied, perfect combo of cardio and resistance, super friendly and helpful trainers, plus you can go to like 5-6 different studios around SD. I prefer to Orange theory or f45, as it is a far more effective workout. I have seen a big difference in my body and strength.

Most disappointing gym experience ever! They lure you in with an offer of three free classes, but good luck actually booking them — there’s no clear information provided anywhere. The contact number is just for show, as no one ever answers regardless of the time of day. Leaving a voicemail is useless too, since no one calls back. It honestly feels like they don’t want new customers. If that’s not the case, I hope they seriously improve their class sign-up process, especially for first-timers. Even after texting for help, the staff was unhelpful. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

This is a really great gym to go to when you want concise hour long workouts that BURN! If you feel lost in the gym or don’t know what to do these classes guide you and you don’t think about it. All you do is workout, it’s really great if you’re trying to find time for the gym or are just lost. Highly recommend.

I am absolutely addicted to my hit classes at Renegade. I started a year and a half ago and my health benefits are great. I’ve lost weight built muscle come off of my blood pressure medicine. I’m in my 60s and I felt so welcomed by the people there and so supported by the coaches. It is a wonderful environment. I’m so glad I’m part of the Renegade family. It’s awesome.

Majority of my renegade workouts have been in the college area with Michael Dunn, and wow is he awesome. The energy, helpful tips, and lit playlist makes the workout go by so fast! When I went for my very first time he was really attentive and I didn’t feel intimidated at all. I definitely recommend trying out renegade for the ultimate full-body workout!

I’ve been a member at Renegade for 2 years. It’s hard to find any other gym in the San Diego area that is as amazing as renegade. The UTC location is in a nice area & super spacious. Coach Safi is one of my favorite coaches! He motivates you & inspires you to not just work harder, but to be a better person. You can tell he is passionate about coaching people with their fitness. I recently found Renegade and have really enjoyed their classes, especially that they offer 5am classes during the week which helps with my work schedule. The classes are a great workout and pushes me in ways I do not get working at the gym by myself.

I really like this place and it's people. The workouts consist of 3 pods, one being cardio, turf and racks. The coaches are always very nice and attentive. They also play very upbeat, usually house, music. This is a great community to be a part of to be fit and have a great time!

I usually don’t like to write reviews but this gym experience had to be by far one of the worst. I’ve been a member at many gyms such as orange theory and f45 and have never had an experience such as this. Renegade promotes the 3 day free trial, but makes it impossible to select the location I needed which was the La Jolla location. When I called no one answered it said to text for questions. I texted saying I wanted the free trial to try out the gym and the person (not sure the name but the phone number started with a 619-203) number told me to do it on the app. So I did thinking everything was fine. Next day I attend the class and it was a terrible experience. The trainer went through the routine fast which is fine, but didn’t offer any modifications for the workouts. My friend and I (who attended the class were completely lost and for someone who hadn’t worked out for a really long time I was hoping for modifications bc usually the other gyms provide modifications as they go through the work out. The trainer could clearly see my friend and I struggling and instead of coming to help or modify the workout she avoided us completely and avoided eye contact. It’s was so awkward. To top that it turned out I ended up getting charged for the class that was suppose to be free…. And even tho I canceled the other classes bc I thought no way I’m going back here I still got charged a cancellation fee. When I texted the person I originally did to help me sign up they said I got charged bc I went through the app not online… even tho they instructed me to go the app. Then they told me to email some email for a refund which I did and 5 days later still
No response. I really don’t care about the money but it’s the principle. My friend and I definitely won’t be signing up to renegade. Not sure how they say they are # 1 gym in San Diego bc that’s a lie! This is by far the worst experience I ever had.

Every time I finish a workout at Renegade, I find myself in a puddle of sweat. The movements are functional, challenging, and feel safe. Good mix of weightlifting, plyometrics, and cardio. I’ve been to a handful of bootcamp or HIIT style gyms before, and Renegade UTC is one of my favorites!

I've been attending Renegade CrossFit at the UTC branch three times a week, and it has been a fantastic experience! The instructors are excellent—they really understand your individual needs and offer personalized suggestions to help you achieve your fitness goals. I made an appointment through the website, but between it being hard to find and getting caught in traffic, I ended up being a bit late. When I got there, the coach wouldn't let me in, which I think is really unfair and honestly, it upset me. I drove for 20 minutes to get there, and with how expensive gas is in California, it just felt like a total waste of my time. I mean, all I needed at Renegade Fitness was a bit of space to run. I get that they might not want latecomers disrupting a session, but they should've let me know about such a policy beforehand. It was really disappointing to show up only to be turned away. I definitely won't be going back there.

Maybe this would’ve been a decent workout if we actually got to try it. I’ve never experienced a gym with less admin support. If you sign up and want to make changes, don’t bother. It was our first time and due to unforeseen circumstances we needed to go to a later class that day, but there was no way to move it ourselves online. No one answers the phone, returns messages or reads emails. There’s no front desk staff, at each facility you have the coach, an iPad, and a gym that looks like a garage. We showed up to the class we hoped to attend only to be turned away, which could’ve been avoided entirely if they had any semblance of organization or customer service.

Really enjoyed my workout at Renegade! I liked the feel of being in an actual gym with each person having our own sets of weights. The treads were a little weird to get used to but I liked the feel once I got the hang of it. The turf workout was super tough. My biggest issue was not remembering the workouts or moves since everything was demo’d at the very beginning. Even reading the white board, I still didn’t know what to do so I felt confused most of the time but once the coach came over and showed me what to do I was good. Overall a great workout and looking forward to going back!!

I never knew that addiction to working out is a thing until I tried Renegade.. I got hooked on it from the first week and it became essential part of my daily routine so quick. I love the music, the lights and the action.. the coaches are all amazing and keep motivating you throughout! They are always there to answer your questions, help you with modification (even when I decide to swap some exercises, they would come with great suggestions). Best of all there's no gym intimidation environment whatsoever. I love this place cause it has been the most effective workout for me in complex moves performance as well as muscle gain. If you are looking for a great gym where you will see results if you are consistent, look no further, Renegade is your gym. I have been a member (off and on) since January 2019 after recovering from my second knee surgery. It’s a gym that I can never stay away from and always find myself coming back to. As a former collegiate athlete, I take pride in finding a gym that has coaches and trainers who know what they are talking about and genuinely take time to put together a great workout. Having knee surgery twice, I am always cautious whenever at the gym to ensure I have proper form & the coaches at Renegade regularly will correct you when you need it. The summer of 2019 I worked out at Renegade consistently for 3 months and lost 6% body fat. I still was enjoying my summer, & eating generally healthy, but the workout is truly what helped me shed my post surgery weight. I lost 12lbs of fat and gained 8lbs of muscle so on a regular scale it didn’t seem like much, but not only did I look and feel better I know I was making healthier lifestyle choices for my present and future. Renegade has multiple locations and is a local San Diego gym, if you are reading this, what are you waiting for?? go try it already! They offer your first 3 classes free :)

Awesome instructor and a fantastic workout! The class is fast-paced and and intense, but there are periods of rest where I could catch my breath. The instructor explains the entire workout at the beginning of the class and then guides the class through each exercise/station as the workout progress so everything is easy to understand and follow. The.best.workout.period. I used to go to Renegade daily when I lived in Little Italy. About 2 years ago I move up to north county and the commute was too much and jointed another gym. Never have achieved the same results I did while I went to renegade. If you are restively close to one I would drop your existing membership and join renegade. You won’t be disappointed. Now to get them to open one in solana beach!

Trying a new gym or studio can sometimes be really daunting but I had a great first experience. The studio sort of reminded me of a combination of orange theory and a CrossFit gym. The coach was sure to give me a tour and walk me through the format of the class. In addition to that, he came over and checked on me often to make sure I was not lost. Hands down the best gym in San Diego! The coaches are amazing, they each have their unique style but all of them are phenomenal. This place has become my new home. I have seen more progress in 5 months than I did in a year and a half at another similar type of gym. The classes are challenging ( but can also modify if needed), music is incredible and the community they have built is so welcoming!

I absolutely love attending these classss. I love that they consistently change up the structure of the class which keeps me on my toes for the workouts. It also helps to prevent my body from getting too used to any single workout.
They’ve also incorporated kettlebell exercises as an alternative for the tread portion of the workout which is my preference since my knees aren’t the best for running. Can’t recommend Renegade enough.

This studio is great! The best thing about this studio is that they have a 5am class, which is the only class that fits my busy schedule. I searched far and wide and this is the only studio that offers classes this early. The intensity perfect. I walk about drenched in sweat. However, there is nothing intimidating about this studio. It’s very friendly for people of all fitness levels. Highly recommend!

Can't say enough great things about Renegade. It's been a staple in my routine and the only gym I've gone to since I moved to San Diego.
I've always been particular about my workouts. Being in a completely new city and starting to plateau and really feel the isolation of COVID, I looked to hop into something other than your typical gym. I found exactly what I was looking for in Renegade. It fits personal training-type group workouts into a 1 hr timeframe and mixes up the splits each day of the week while also providing a social element.
I always know the programs are going to hit every thing my body needs to keep making progress, and the changing routines never get old.

Renegade is hands down the best fitness studio in San Diego. It’s like Orange Theory on steroids. Despite being with other athletes, you’ll always feel like you’re receiving a personalized training session. The coaches are phenomenal and highly professional, and create an incredibly welcoming environment. They can adjust the routine to any skill level or functional limitations. Renegade is an especially great pairing to anyone engaging on a new fitness journey or healthy lifestyle. If I never leave San Diego it will be because Renegade is a local chain only (which is part of what makes it so great!).

Such a fun gym with knowledgeable instructors and clean space. It’s a mix of cardio, weights, and body weight exercises. Classes are pre-structured and the instructors help everyone stay on track at their stations. They switch up the format each week and it’s different every day which I love. The vibes are awesome, with colorful lighting and pumping music. It’s simultaneously a hard and efficient workout. I do way more in those 50 minutes than I would get done in 2 hours at a traditional gym alone. I also appreciate that the instructors help with form throughout the class and always bring great energy. Renegade is hands down my favorite type of workout I’ve done! 10/10 recommend for anyone who likes a fun, high energy, effective workout.

I’ve have always been a yoga/running girl. Within the last couple of years I’ve wanted to have more defined results with my body, and incorporate more weights into my work outs. Renegade has been perfect for that! The coaches are all amazing at correcting my form and explaining the work outs. I have definitely become a lot stronger and more toned since working out with the Renegade crew! My favorite coaches are Luis, Connor, Amanda, and Zander! Highly recommended. Renegade stands out among other group fitness offerings w/programming that leads to continued strength gains (the other chains are just “fitness ADHD”). Fun equipment: kettlebells, dumbbells, TRX, assault bikes, assault treadmills, ropes, etc. The lighting and sound system makes you feel like you’re in a club. High energy coaches offering clear instruction top it off. Very competitive pricing, too!

My wife and I go using ClassPass, have been taking classes since 2019. Love the classes and the coaches, several locations makes it convenient. Coaches are encouraging and always willing to help you improve form. Definitely recommend to anyone looking to mix up their workouts and get stronger

Great workouts! They kick my a** every time. Equipment is brand new and well maintained, environment is designed to make us focus on what we’re doing at that moment and forget about anything else that might be in our minds. Coaches are fun, respectful and encouraging.
