Our first location, Renegade Point Loma, was established in 2017 and founded by Marketing Expert, Billy Canu, and Fitness Guru, Jamie Rice. Renegade has taken off and already has been called “The #1 Group Fitness in San Diego.” At Renegade, we focus on dynamic muscle building and weight loss workouts customized to YOUR abilities and needs. Renegade is the BEST! Everyone is great, but I appreciate Safi’s class the most. He is so engaged with his clients, constantly giving form corrections to make sure we are getting the most out of his workout. He’s so present in his classes. He’s also motivating with his cueing and also has incredible musicality. He creates playlists that literally drop the beat on the unload or sprint on the treadmill or go the pace of the racks. His class is energy unlike any other, it feels like a party and also the best workout you’ve ever had.

I love this place! I have been going for over a year, maybe 4 classes a week. My favorite class is the Full Body METCON (Fri-Sun). I have my favorite trainers, but that’s mostly based on playlist selection lol (Christian, Tyler, Liz, and Wren circle the top).
They have a ton of classes everyday and a lot of locations in SD so it’s pretty easy to find something that fits in your schedule. The gym is clean. The subscription price isn’t wild. They’re also available through class pass. I go to other gyms but this one is my constant. I like that they change up the workouts so it’s never boring.

One of the best gyms I’ve ever attended. It’s a great workout that keeps our body in shape. Classes run all day long, which is very rare for any gym so there is no way one can miss the class. One price covers all the locations, it’s affordable and extremely effective. I am one of the oldest people in the gym but feel like I am in my 20s because of the vibe, great music and friendly atmosphere. Did I mention excellent coaches? No? Well- they are really good, full of positive attitude and very helpful. I feel fit and young again!!!

The workout is similar to Orange Theory, but it incorporates more weights, which I like. There is a good balance of weights and cardio.

The workouts move way too fast. You have no time in between sets, so you feel like you are so rushed to figure out what weights you want to use. I get that they want to squeeze 50 minutes in, but you don’t feel like you are getting all the benefits of the workout as it’s very rushed.

When you sign up, no one explains the cancellation policy. There is no front desk office where you can call, nor is there any kind of contact number. I had to cancel for a laceration I got in my leg and I had no way of canceling, so they charged me an extra $15.

You have very little time to clean your station to move to the next. There are paper towels and spray around the room, but only two trash cans to dispose of your paper towels. Everything feels very rushed.

The location is decent. There is typically parking available but it’s tight. The instructors are good. They seem very knowledgeable and caring.

I will stick with the gym for a short time but don’t see this as a long term workout plan.

I really love renegade, the workouts are fast paced and can be challenging they definitely keep your heart rate up for the entirety of the class and when you leave you feel like you’ve had a good workout. I am only giving 4 stars because sometimes I feel the classes can be chaotic, there is a lot going on at all times lol. But the coaches are great and i would recommend these classes to anyone wanting a HIIT workout!

Best way to describe Renegade is CrossFit with colorful lights and loud music.
I understand the concept but was not a fan. I’ve done a few other group fitness classes and this is one of my least favorites. If you like the grungy gym feel, you’ve found your calling. This just wasn’t for me. My friend liked the price point, I don’t mind paying more for better quality. I was a trainer years ago, and it’s like when I see a trainer showing their clients something wrong. That is how I felt. I can deal with a little bit of dirt, but it’s the exercises I can’t look past. There’s a similar concept that starts with an “F”. I would go there if the $ isn’t an object and you value learning correct exercises and movements.

I miss Renegade so much! I joined this gym while working in San Diego short term. I don’t know how to describe the workout other than it’s awesome. This is the first time in awhile people actually noticed that I have been going to the gym. Each day has a specific focus (legs, shoulders, arms, core, etc) and I’ve never had a workout like that. I love it. I think that’s part of what brings great results. You’ll also get some good cardio in with the strength training.

I primarily went to the Point Loma location. Luis and Michael are my favorite coaches. They really push you and also make sure you are doing the movements correctly and effectively. I thought the price was reasonable. Watch out for the cancellation charges though!

I’ve been to ALOT of gyms and have been doing CrossFit and functional fitness for years. This is an outstanding place to workout. I wish they had locations in Alabama where I live. :) thank y’all! Hope to be back again.

Joined Renegade over a year now and absolutely love this gym and the people! I played sports throughout college and once that was over, I would maybe hit the gym once a week but never got into a routine nor did I have the motivation. Once I started going to Renegade, I found my rhythm and have fallen in love with the workouts, results and flexibility of picking my classes. Regardless of your fitness level, you can work at the pace that best suits you-I’ve brought family, friends and coworkers for workouts and they have nothing but good things to say! I’ve been going to Renegade for over a year and attend 1-2 classes a week. Every class I can expect the coaches to effectively explain each exercise in the beginning. I love the workouts and the environment at Renegade. The workouts push you, but you can scale up or down as you see fit. For me, I appreciate that there isn’t a ton of “jumping” exercises as I’ve suffered from knee problems. The format is a little confusing at first but by the 2nd or 3rd time you’ll have it down. The room is dark and the music is great…the best environment to work hard and sweat a lot!

I have been working out at Renegade for about a year and a half and I truly love it! There is a lot of variety during each class with three different stations including cardio, weights, and turf. I also enjoy the customization of each class targeting different muscle groups each day. You never get bored of the same workouts! Lastly why I keep coming back is for the awesome instructors. They are always pushing me just enough and they have the best playlist to get you through the hardest workouts.

I have enjoyed all of the coaches at Renegade but Gabby is my favorite. She is so good at helping me correct my form while dealing with the timing and structure of the whole room. I try not to ever miss Monday's with Gabby, she has made me better at the workout and has helped me gain more from the workout. Perfect way to start the week.

I have been going to Renegade for two years now and I love it. Every class has a fun, high energy atmosphere. The coaches are great and encourage you to challenge yourself by increasing weight or running faster to beat previous marker times. Renegade has made the regular gym feel boring, and I don’t think I’ll ever go back to that.

Hands down, one of the best gyms in San Diego. Weights focused with just the right amount of cardio (and now an option to do even less cardio if you want to focus more on weight training). Love Renegade! Just started at the gym about 2 months ago. Came from another group workout/HIIT style class and in comparison I like how Renegade gives you the option to incorporate more weights into the workout. I cannot rave enough about this place - I found it around a year and a half ago and am completely addicted. I used to hate group workout classes and would get bored of fitness styles I tried in the past but I fell absolutely in love with this gym family, the coaches who are absolutely amazing and have helped me through multiple random injuries I’m so good at racking up, the good vibes, and I can honestly say 1.5 years later I have yet to get bored. They constantly change up the routines and it’s very challenging - every single time I leave soaked in sweat and feeling amazing! The workouts are no joke - not for the faint of heart but oh my goodness is it worth it! That said, the coaches can walk you through any mod you might need and have done so for me a million times. I have actual abs now and definition I’ve never been able to get with other workout routines and I’ve tried just about all of them. Do yourself a favor and check this place out IMMEDIATELY.

I enjoy the bootcamp style workouts at Renegade! Great coaches and close to my house in PB with parking right by the building. The workout is 50 minutes, cardio, weights and mat work rotation. The only critic I have is the warm is a bit too long and can be hard to remember.

I’m currently on the free trial but I’ve had a great first experience with Renegade classes. Everyone is so nice and I appreciate the extra help and motivation from coach Lu with the exercises. He is super welcoming and friendly which makes the environment that much better. The workouts are tough but manageable and I know they’ll get me the results I’m looking for. I’m planning to purchase monthly classes after the trial is over and am stoked to continuing to get in better shape with such a fun group and solid workout schedule!

They have the curve treadmills which is a big plus for me. Good balance of weight lifting and cardio. Can’t recommend it enough

What can I say...I have tried many gyms. After a while, they get boring as the routine is super repetitive. Sorry to call out names but Barrys and Revel are on that list.

NOT AT RENEGADE.

I found Renegade through ClassPass and fell in LOVE.
The classes are challenging every single time and you never see the same stuff. Coach Lu is the best. However, Kevin, Amar, and Courtney are right up there with him. I have never taken a bad class. What I love the most about the gym is the community. Everyone is super encouraging, welcoming, and loving. They are consistent with everything they do there - training of coaches, equipment, and UPGRADING/ changing up the routine.

Definitely the best workout in San Diego! The perfect combo of a little cardio plus strength training. I love how they split up body parts, and you know in advance which ones you will be working that day so you don’t over-stress muscles.
