Amazing!! My kid goes here for tennis Monday’s & Wednesday. Coach Julian, their staff and their program are top notch. My only small complaint would be that they have a lot of kids on 6 courts, but always enough coaches to make sure they get individual attention. The facility itself is very nice, new locker rooms & gym, that doesn’t hurt either. I highly recommend this place for all your tennis but especially if you have kids.

I've tried many other gyms, and I hated them all. I always found an excuse to not go. Then I found Capital Athletic. I loved going and went almost every day. When it closed, I tried a couple of other gyms, and again I hated them. Then I found Rio Del Oro, and I'm excited. It's like Capital but all grown up. Definitely worth checking out!

Julian (tennis "pro") was extremely disrespectful. No tennis etiquette. Asked politely to keep his volume to his own court, since he was yelling for an hour straight. He refused with attitude. What? I'm a paying member for nearly a decade at these clubs, asking you to be respectful of the other 10 courts next to you, and you're just going to be a jerk?

He was so loud we couldn't even think straight. We ended up stopping our tennis early because of him. Thanks dude.

Very disappointed as the 6 lane pool is what I wanted to use is mostly unavailable. I was referred to "pool lane walk" as I am injured and my doctor and physical therapist recommended this for building strength. I need the stairs in this pool to get down into the lane.

Update: I can’t reply to their reply so I am editing my comment. To answer their question no I do not have proof. I had to go in after being told on the phone that they cannot accept cancellations over the phone. I had lost a parent 5 days before that and so I did not think to request a copy of the cancellation I signed. I will admit that was 100% my fault and take accountability. There was also zero calls/messages to myself from August 2023-December 10th 2024. I actually was only getting your marketing emails. On August 10,2024 I received a text inviting me to rejoin. I would think if someone had an outstanding bill/was sent to collections you would not be inviting them to come back.

This place is a scam! Canceled my membership in August of 2022. We were planning on going fall swim however after a death in the family we decided to take a season off. They sent me to collections without my knowledge. Called 3X (finally got a call back on the 3rd time) to talk to someone about joining the swim team however they won't let us until we pay all back dues which I will not do when I had to physically go down there to sign the documents to cancel the membership. Sad because they have the best swim coach in Sacramento but the club/employees are scammers. Run and have your kids swim ANYWHERE else.

Went for an event...parking wasn't authorized for the event. I parked on the street and my car was broken into.

Do not recommend.

I like the tennis club, and it's a big swim club too. But it's pricey for what you get if you're only interested in tennis.

Cons: biased club towards tennis players.
I got yelled at by the tennis coach for hitting a pickleball against a wall. He said that it was the policy due to the noise it makes. I’m pretty sure the 10+ person group of 3.0 tennis players he was coaching made more noise than my one pickleball.

Pros: the gym is pretty much always empty. The club room area is decent

I would love to see less very small children in the hot tub. Too many with no parents, and way toooo small to be in a hot tub, diving.

Like how this place is spread out, great vibe, but need more pickleball courts…

Source: Google

* Large, clean and well maintained.
* All the gym machines/exercise equipement appear to be working.
* Lots of tennis courts, and some tennis courts are being converted to pickleball courts.
* Decent snack bar and beer is sold from the main reception desk.
* Several fitness and swimming classes are offered.
* The two lane lap pool borders the kiddie pool. Swimming in the two lane lap pool means you will likely be interrupted by young kids from the kiddie pool using the two lane lap pool as a shortcut, adjacent pool, or generally obstructing the swimming lanes. Their parents don't seem to care and management doesn't seem interested in enforcing any kinds of rules either.

A Sacramento original. While old it is well maintained. Best tennis and pickleball courts in town. 3 pools and a hot tub. Locker rooms could use a face-lift.

I have been a loyal member at Rio for the better part of 20 years. I even coached tennis there in the early 2000s. Over the past few months the hot tub has been getting cooler and cooler-- it's not even hot enough to maintain the therapeutic benefits. Standards in CA for public hot tubs are up to 104 degrees. Despite this, Rio has dropped the therm from 104 to 101 degrees. In reality, at night the hot tub actual water is only about 98 degrees because it's large and can't keep up with cooling temps. It's been miserable lukewarm bathwater for weeks now. The hot tub is just about the only thing I use at Rio, so this is all very disappointing. I've alerted the front desk about it a few times over the months, with no improvement. So today I spoke with the GM, and not only would he not listen to my concerns, he was unfortunately, rude and condescending. I mentioned that there were things that could be done-- for example turning it up a bit at night, so it doesn't cool so much, but he wouldn't even start to listen. This club is trying to save energy costs at our expense-- as our dues go up and up yearly. I can sadly no longer can recommend Rio as a club. I'll be taking my business somewhere else where they actually listen to customer feedback and make an effort to remedy it.

As a long-time member, I appreciate the excellent amenities. The outdoor workout equipment and CrossFit area are a great addition at City Sports Club that sets it apart from the rests. Despite occasional crowding, the wide selection of equipment and activities makes it worthwhile. Though parking is a bit tight, the three swimming pools, numerous tennis courts, and scenic trail make up for it. While I believe classes could be improved, overall, I am genuinely satisfied with their service.

I’m pleasantly surprised with how nice this facility is. They offer everything you could want or need in a gym. Pools, tennis courts, table tennis, pickle ball, a hot tub, outdoor workout equipment, CrossFit area, Zumba area, team/class facilities, dumb bells, barbells, cables, etc… you name it, this place has it. Very clean. Everyone seems to be quite respectful. Good place to get your health on!

Best Tennis Club period. Courts are very well maintained and staff is really nice and professional. Justin is the best Tennis Pro a club could ever dream to have. They have great kids program and drop inns. Todd is the best Tennis Director, Hillary is so friendly in the office....then you have Jed, Eric, Kiril, Dima, Jake, Lap, Patrick and so many other pros and staff members.
They created a really great Tennis community for us in Sacramento.

Also, Pool, squash, racquet ball, ping pong...

I highly recommend you join this club with your family.

Due to the fires (I have COPD) we haven't been able to get on the courts just yet, but really looking forward to some tennis soon! The last time I played tennis here was for a tournament 25 years ago and the place still looks amazing!! And I LOVE the two American Flags at the entrance! <3

It is the best you can get. Like Laguna Creek, Broadstone, Johnson Ranch, Park Terrace, Rollingwood, etc. are nothing compared to Rio. The tennis, swim, and fitness programs and coaching here are amazing. They have highly trained staff with many years of experience. The staff and coaches are really nice. It is a great environment there. I love it and I gurantee you will too. Ditch those other clubs and come to Rio. I gurantee you won't regret it. Let's go RIO!
