4.5*-4.8* / 5* considering..
Wish their Fri, Sat, Sun hours were better 😉 ..when I actually CAN make it there, they are closed, lol. I understand though! OTOH, many people work out of town with long commutes, so after a late weekend morning/lunch or an afternoon outside with family would like to be able to hit the gym on their day off.
I get that there are budgeting concerns & maybe fewer members are interested than weekdays.

Other than the smell (off-gassing of the rubber mats never ends), and it sometimes being a bit warm inside
..IT'S A GREAT GYM!

Oh, & showers. Grateful that there ARE showers available, but they're not very useable..
there's no soap, no floor mats. No shelfs or hooks for your soap, towel, and clothes. And no towel service.
It makes using the shower such an ordeal. And it takes at least twice as long to take a shower because of all the prep work, and, clean up work. Plus you need to carry in/out & wash so much more. Including a floor towel every time.
They also don't let you rent even small lockers to store shampoos, shower shoes, clean towel stash or floor mat.

Previous owners had shampoo, conditioner, soap. Had Floor mats. Had towel service (that was so great!)
Lack of hooks & shelves was always a problem for your own shower supplies, your towel, and clothes.

Never the less, GRATEFUL for showers.

GYM:
FABULOUS. Considering the small town it's an unexpectedly great gym!! Good selection of equipment.
Clean. Good atmosphere.
Music not too loud to hear your headphones (USUALLY..depends on who's working).

There are 2 floors of equipment and a group workout room that hosts a couple classes most days. Good variety.
Rights, Cardio, free weights, and other items line balance basis, etc. Really good variety. Plus the group classes.

If this were in a larger city, I'd expect a bit newer, better maintained, and a better line of equipment. Yet sll considering, this club offers more, and better, equipment than you'll find in some larger small towns!

Price is a bit higher than slightly better gyms in larger cities. Yet it's in a similar range that other small town gyms charge. There is a smaller customer base to average their expenses over.
(And it's less crowded).
So considering the small user base, and it's a small town, price is reasonable and expected.

You can pay monthly, or daily.

They also are registered with Silver Sneakers and Active & Fit, so if you are older and have access to either of those programs, you can get your gym membership through them for a discounted rate. This really makes ALL the difference for older members!! I'd be unaffordable for many otherwise.

For women and youth, they added a FABULOUS "youth" Hoist line of equipment. It really MAKES this gym, if you're slender, female, or youth.

The regular line of equipment gave me multiple injuries over the years because they are built for larger builds & stronger men. So they harm the joints, muscles, tendons, etc of smaller individuals. ESPECIALLY if the lowest weight is too heavy to lift safely. AND you're doing so with the machines at the wrong alignment for your (small) build.

The youth line is ergonomically appropriate for slender builds & weights are appropriate for less strong people.
YEA! Someone thought of the "rest of us"!

TBH, I wish they had the ENTIRE Youth Hoist line, so I didn't have to revert to the other equipment for the remaining exercises.
I'm ecstatic with what they have, however.
(Looks like they got them from the school).

Honestly, Rio Fit acquiring the Hoist Youth line equipment reenergized me & made me enjoy this gym again! I'd taken a long break & was ready to end my membership b/c of injury & disappointment with the equipment I'd tried making work for years. I was rather depressed, "over it", despite being grateful to have this gym in our small community.
I finally went in for a last workout to finalize my decision. Then I saw & tried these Hoist machines..! SOOO GLAD! Because I REALLY, REALLY NEEDED a GREAT gym IN DOWNTOWN Rio Vista! YEA!
Now it is!! (For all sizes and strengths.)
(Thank you!! 😍)

This week the heat is unbearable inside the gym, and they can't turn on the damn A/C, the bathrooms are always really dirty, otherwise it has a lot of very good equipment...

This is an excellent gym, so clean!! Front desk, staff, very nice and helpful, want to emphasize the gym is very clean. The equipment is very good especially for a small town gym. I’ve wrestled throughout the world and love gyms like this in a small town, Excellent vibe, welcoming, clean, good equipment,

The owner doesn't seem to be serious about providing a quality place with good equipment and amenities for his clients !!! Sometimes the dispensers have no soap, paper towels, etc... There were at least 2 machines that recently looked like the cables may soon break, possibly causing an injury and opening up the owner to liability. Can be much better !!!! But it's the ONLY GYM in town, so the owner doesn't seem concerned !!!! Plus I hear he's also the owner of the town's ice cream shop, so maybe that's where he puts his effort, time and attention!!!!

Great local spot. Just wish the hours were more feasible for people that work long hours or shifts that aren’t 9-5

Great place to workout with lots of space. This gym has two levels and lots of equipment! You almost never have to wait for a machine or a piece of equipment. It’s clean and well maintained, and the staff is friendly.

I don’t appreciate my review being deleted and there is so many witnesses of Stacy kicking out the teenage girls and not once do they yell at her or make hand gestures. Stacy was the one making hand gestures at them and raising her voice rudely. the girls were both dressed appropriately wearing full coverage shirt's and shorts and we’re in the middle of just working out when they we’re rudely asked to leave even though they were with a guardian and complied to the rules. also the girls never went back inside the gym after they were kicked out they stayed outside and did not yell “obscenities”. Stacy was snapping her fingers at the girls and kept interrupting them

Mid equipment, only come because only place in town but nowhere near $50 a month. Older senior lady isn’t really nice. Been there a couple times where she’s gotten in a heated discussion with customers. The young teen workers are wonderful though. Wish they offer more or reduced the price, or even remove the nasty stench the bottom floor has.
