I started training with Glenda when I was 12. I wanted professional classical training and thats what was offered. I knew if I could build on a strong foundation of training It would be easier to become a professional dancer. It all worked out and I danced professionally with Houston Ballet and several other companies. Its tru you get what you pay for.

Riverside Ballet Arts is a wonderful studio and the teachers are superb with lots of knowledge and training. The front staff is very friendly and helpful. The facility is very modern. We have been with RBA for almost 3 years now and we love it. Look no further than RBA for all your ballet needs, you won't be disappointed!

Two weeks ago, my daughter and I went to a Tiny Tots ballet class at Riverside Ballet Arts. It was awesome, she participated fully and happily, with minor shyness, which is unusual for her. Plus, watching the class was the happiest half hour of my week.
So we went out and bought the full get-up: ballet shoes, a tutu, etc. We came back the following week and they kicked the parents out of class. My parents had come up from San Diego, in part, to see what I had said was the best part of my week. They allowed my parents to watch from the door for half the class and then kicked them out also. So I was busy talking with the other disgruntled parents when I heard hysterical crying. My daughter had noticed our absence and was trying to leave the class, but was being held back by the teacher ("oh, everything is fine"). . .
As we were leaving, the front desk saw that my daughter was still upset (10 minutes later) and I stated how disappointed I was at the new "no parents" rule (which had not been in place for the year and a half that my friend's daughter has been going). I mentioned the comments made by peeved parents in the hall: one mother was worried that her child might start licking the other kids (as happened last class), another mother was worried that her son might lay on the ground unresponsive (as happened in another class), and yet another mother was worried that her child might wet herself (as happens frequently). I gave these examples as evidence of the maturity level of Tiny Tots. Why, with such a group, would they ban parental supervision? In any case, I am told the rule will not be changed so that the teachers could have more "control" over the classroom.
In their defense, only one other child among the ten or so children in the class left early. So, clearly my child is more shy than most. Regardless, I feel like I was given the "bait and switch" and I question the judgement of demanding "artistic control" over a bunch of two and three year olds.

Once my daughter's trimester is up I will not have her return. They provide very little information for new parents/students. The entire building is sweltering in the summer and freezing in the winter. The instructor tends to be late or not prepared. Also, they give very little attention to the students. My daughter has come out of class crying because the music was so loud it was hurting her ears. I can attest to this as I have been out in the hallway during classes (with the door closed) and you can hear it quite loud from there. Imagine inside with sensitive little ears that a young child has. BTW as a nurse I know that damaged hearing doesn't repair itself. This should be a health/safety concern of the instructor. My little one also hurt her foot in class and looked very sad and kept messing with her foot and the instructor nor her assistants payed her any attention at all. I very much feel they only care about money and not the welfare or safety of the young children they make their business off of.

We thoroughly looked into other studios and this one seemed to offer the most for every type of student (just for fun-serious). My 6 year old has been in classes there for a year and a half now and I love it! They are very professional, patient and warm. I always feel like I'm coming home and the teachers love my kid as much as I do. I know if my daught decides to make a career in ballet, they are very knowledgeable of the resources to be successful and very supportive. Thank you R.B.A., glad we picked the right school :-D
