I had a disappointing experience at the store with their customer service. Upon my arrival at the front desk at 5 pm on September 15th, I was told that the instructor doesn't allow entry if you're even three minutes late, even though I wasn't late. Additionally, the front desk staff exhibited a discourteous attitude, saying, "I don't care if you're upset with me," and claimed there was no manager available. Despite being within the grace period, I felt frustrated when denied entry. As someone who enjoys attending fitness classes at various clubs, I must admit that this was one of my most unpleasant experiences. I hope the store can provide clearer communication regarding their three-minute rule to ensure a more positive experience for other customers. It would be greatly appreciated if they could offer improved customer service.

The music and mic for Jenny’s Restore class was so unnecessarily LOUD. You could hear her before even walking into the studio. There are no ear plugs or floor mats either. Not a sanitary option when your class involves push-ups and other exercises on their dirty floors. I really wanted to like this place since it’s so convenient to me. Highly recommend the North San Jose location instead.

I joined Row House a few months ago and have really enjoyed my sessions there. I have an established strength training program I follow and was looking to add in a group cardio class because I find solo cardio to be boring. Rowing is different than other group cardio classes like cycling because you're part of team with everyone there. I like how I'm only in competition with myself as far as my own stats, but the whole class is a team to push ourselves harder collectively. The coaches have all been great and it's a very motivating, community atmosphere. You don't have to worry if you've never tried a rower before - they show you everything you need to know at your first class. I recommend giving Row House a try!

Row house is the only group workout class I’ve enjoyed and kept up with for months. The low impact nature of the workout allows me to actually do cardio workout successfully and keep coming back every week. The flexibility in pausing membership allows us to take a break when our body needs one. The friendly and flexible staff are always amazing. Coach Jordan and Coach Jenny are the best. They helped me fix my form, keep us motivated in the right way without demeaning us if need to stop to catch a breath, or need to slow down. They encourage us to pick up the handle bar again, and show us modified versions of floor exercises. I’ve gone to OTF, spin classes, bar method, Zumba and others. Row house is the only one I've enjoy consistently.

Melissa(Santa Clara) used her software knowledge to copy my already existing signature in their system to sign a contract under my name and when I took my grievances to Jen, she threatened to REPORT my CREDIT which I am going to notify to the authorities immediately. Please be AWARE of JEN, she and her team have no integrity and trick people by incorrectly charging their credit cards that they save in their system.

I would recommend San Jose Row-House but BE CAREFUL of Santa Clara(Row-House), JEN and Melissa.

If you're someone who's wanting to start rowing and don't know where to start, this is the right place for you! If you've had some experience with rowing and are looking to level up the game then this is the right place for you. Their coaches are great and the variety of classes will help you in getting the best results you're looking for. I really like taking classes with coaches Jordan and Jenny, mostly because their class timings fit my schedule.. :). Other coaches and the staff member are great and very friendly as well.

This place offers 45 mins indoor rowing machine classes that are guided by a coach.

1) Ambience
If you haven't tried a trial class, it might appear that this could be boring. The ambience is the first thing you will notice compared to a regular gym. There are music and light effects. The combination creates an interesting environment and with beats you can align your rowing pace.

2) Coaches
If you think rowing is something you might need a personal coach, then it might appear (before taking a class) that the coach in a group class may not be able to give individual attention. This is not the case. The coach provides individual attention, before, during and after the class - This was sufficient enough to improve my form. Also, the coaches make an effort to speak to you and know you by your name. So you will not feel left out even if you are an introvert person.

Quick tip for first timers: Take coach Megan Full Row class.

3) Technology/ App
Unlike your regular gym, every single session is captured in the App. So you know how much you are rowing, and if you are improving, trends etc. If you are a numbers-driven person, this might help.

4) Supporting Environment
I would say that the front desk staff is equally important as the coaches themselves. Many businesses (such as doctor's offices) sometimes get negative reviews coz the front desk staff weren't trained properly in customer support. Rowhouse has exceptional front desk staff. This is important - they guide you through the various subscription options (well trained so that it never seemed a sales pitch), also check on your progress, and create a welcoming environment.

5) Events
In Jan 2023, they had a row2rosolve event which means that you need to complete 15 classes in 1 month. While this is not everyone, it creates a motivational environment. They also had prizes for whoever complete the challenge. You might find one of similar events useful.

6) Results
Improved fitness for me. But it really depends on the person.

7) What to look for before signing-up
- Class timings. The studio isn't open all day. So check out if the schedule work you.
- How many classes in a week you want to take.
- Your fitness goals and type of classes. They have a range of classes to choose from. Some classes are just rowing, some classes involve rowing + floor exercises or weights and so on. This might help if you are trying to achieve a fitness goal.

I am so impressed! I honestly thought I had an idea of what to expect based on videos I had seen. But until you are in that sliding seat rowing with the rest of the team, you have no idea about how fun and productive these 45 minutes are going to be. Hong showed me proper form to row. It was a great calorie burn for a Sunday morning. It is not only rowing, but includes circuit exercises too. Highly recommend them to improve strength, endurance and stamina!

This is by far one of the best workouts you can do, especially if you are time limited. It’s high intensity and low impact and really pumps you up! I always try to go with Coach Jenny, she instructs very well, her music choices are great and is highly motivating. My initial experience was good since we had an excellent trainer. After 3 months I lost interest and decided not to continue. Since I had credits with Row House so I told them not to charge me but still they charged me in Sept 2021 and now they have been charging me since Jan 2022 till today though I have the official cancellation email and text. They are making unauthorized transactions and keep sending Payment Failure notices. I had to cancel my credit card so they can't charge me again. Now they only refunded $106.50 and kept rest of the money. Beware. Don't share your credit card else they'll keep charging you. Money Stealers :(

Very solid workout with Coach Megan! I really do love the workout and I was super sore at the end of the 45 min signature - they even spent the first 15 min helping me understand the stroke, which I really needed.

The workout itself was also quite intense - and it challenged me on a cardio level a ton and forced me to push beyond my limits at times which I really appreciate. Good form tips as well as options to go harder.

They have a nice water station and lockers as well for a clean facility!

Row House cared to act on the previous experience (below) and I am happy with the classes that I've attended so far with Jenny and Dante. Dante was very clear and patient with explaining form and posture during my first-class and Jenny was very engaging. I've never had 45 minutes of "gym" classes fly by so quickly.

Rowing is definitely an activity that is good for all fitness levels.

1 star review for the experience, but +1 star for the manager trying to hear me out.

As did another reviewer (who gave 1 star), I too experienced a rude instructor who denied me entry from class (for a Sunday morning 9am class, same instructor as the other reviewer who had a Saturday a.m. class) for my first class.

If you would like to try a class at Row House, you better be 15 minutes early to your class. It is stated on the ClassPass page or email they send you, but it is not clearly stated that you will be denied entry to class, said to you in a rude, disrespectful, and demeaning attitude. The tone was so rude and disrespectful that a student of the class witnessed this and said "you should report her to the manager because she is not allowed to do that".

I have spoken to the manager about a few issues:
1) lack of consistency in this "15 minute" policy, since my friend (who was also a first-timer) came "10" minutes early and was not denied.
2) if this policy should be followed, the receptionist should not have even bothered showing me to my locker, the restrooms, and have given me a towel. the receptionist should have been the "gate" for this policy
3) the way this was approached, by the instructor, was very unwelcoming and could have been handled more professionally
4) the strictness of the policy should be conveyed firmly instead of "please arrive 15 minutes early." Clearly indicate that in all communications if it is surely that strict. Nobody will be upset with you if you clearly state that "please arrive 15 minutes early so that we can orient you or we will be unable to accommodate you into the class."

I have spoken to the manager about this and thank you for hearing me out, but at this point, this review is how I feel. I appreciate you hearing me out and for providing a complimentary pass and I will update this review after accordingly.

I am a big fan of Row House Santa Clara. Before every class I am greeted by name and with a big smile from the staff. The studio is spotless and equipment is in great shape. I love that classes always start promptly on time and instructors utilize every minute allotted. I love the results I’ve gotten in the 2+ months of taking class. My core, abdominals, and upper body have never felt stronger. I’m a devoted Coach Jenny follower and appreciate her dedication to helping me learn and improve my rowing at each class. Each coach has a different training plan and pace so I always like to switch between different coaches to decide which suit me the most. I love these classes. I went into my trial class not sure what to expect. The instructor met my husband and me before the start of class and explained everything, the row (yes, there is a technique to good effective rowing) the structure of the class, and the breaks. Then, we got to rowing...it was so much fun! We both came out feeling that we got a full body workout and looking forward to the next class. If you're wondering, don't hesitate. They offer the opportunity to try one class for free and you get to choose which one works for you.

I'm super lucky, I won a give away contest over instagram so I got a whole month of free classes. I loved it so much I now have a monthly subscription. All the teachers are great. Once the owner was in class and after class she approached me and gave me advice on my form and technique. This showed how caring they are. The music they chose is fun and upbeat. I always feel safe from covid while exersiceing. The check in staff are so kind and helpful! Once I wore my engagement ring to class and once I got home I realized some diamonds on my band had fallen out. I called and the staff searched through the classroom and the vacuum they used to see if they could find the lost diamonds for me. I appreciate them going above and beyond for me! Also the water machine they have is super yummy!!

Great work out, dedicated community, encouraging teachers! I love taking classes here. I take class once a week as part of my routine that includes lots of teaching and taking yoga most days and one cycling class a week. I have noticed a lot more power and strength in everything else I do, and after a month and a half or so I have already improved my rowing too! I get personal progress in email and in their app and it shows me that I’m getting stronger and more efficient at it. The teachers are great and very responsive to feedback and always making sure we got something out of class. The music system is really nice and motivating to keep on rhythm. Lots of contests and special themed classes available to keep it interesting. Most classes I go to are a mix of floor exercises with weights or body weight and are really challenging. Would recommend this experience to anyone hoping to get strong and fit with good music and supportive people all around. Thanks Rowhouse Santa Clara!

Update 2: still no word on the free class despite actually taking a paid class last Friday and being told that it will be handled after asking about it again. Unprofessional. 1 star management.

Update: appreciate the response about best results with membership. Willing to give it another go mainly due to the great workout, we signed up for another class (individual classes) for Friday (10/8) at noon, only to show up and find out the class had been cancelled. No notifications or emails alerting to the cancellation, which I find particularly disrespectful given they have a late cancellation/no show penalty fee of $10 and $15, respectively.

The person at the front handled the situation the best she could, promising a free class.

Please respect your clients time. 2 stars.

Excellent facility. Excellent coaches. Excellent front of (Row) house staff. The classes provide access to fitness for all levels. I was a complete Gumby in my first class. Coach Megan was patient and soon I was seeing measurable improvement in overall fitness and conditioning. The big plus at any age is obtaining these improvements without impact on the joints.

Row House is the absolute best!! My roommate and I were dragging our feet to start exercising again post-lockdown and we decided to sign up for the 3 class for $39 deal and we immediately became full time members!
Pros:
1. Staff and coaches <3 - fun, exciting, and inspiring
2. Facilities - y’all in apartment complexes, say it with me - AIR CONDITIONING
3. Workouts are varied and intense and sooo fun.
Cons:
Literally nothing.

The old owner Michelle was amazing. I was a client under her for almost two years and I loved the experience. She catered to her clients and the coaches are amazing. She always asked her clients on their opinions on class times and comfort level with taking classes with Covid going on.

Once the new owner took over things went downhill she only cares about herself and her business and making money and does not care at all about how her clients feel. Specially during Covid. Not only does she not care about her clients she treats people horribly and I have seen her myself treat her employees horribly. She is not a good person and she also owns the studio in Belmont. So do yourself a favor and go to Orange Theory or if you really want to go to a Row house go to the north San Jose location or Campbell.

Rowhouse Belmont has created a community around their rowing classes that is really fun to join and motivating to participate in. The instructors are clearly having a great time and it inspires the rest of us to row often and join in.
They have been amazing through Covid and barely broken cadence, all while being extremely safety conscious and diligent about health protocols. Rowhouse has been a pandemic sanctuary of sanity and fitness for us all.

All of the classes are well organized, fun, and engaging. I enjoy taking classes from any of the trainers at the Belmont location and have never left without knowing I got a good sweat for the day. This crew has done everything possible to stay open and to keep their members happy and healthy. Excellent workout for beginners too! I've been out of the gym for two years now and WFH since March 2020; my body has been tight and injured from cycling. Attending Row House, two sessions in, and I love it! I am motivated; the instructors are great! The classes are perfect for my needs! I'm excited about my next lesson!
