About the Club

Rowing is a total-body sport which builds both cardiovascular endurance and strength through repetitive resistance training. Few other sports can provide the total body benefit that rowing does. Rowers create their own resistance on the machine, and your class will be as intense as you want it to be. Anyone can do it! You row at your own pressure/resistance. Our instructors will make sure that you are on pace with the group, and will take you through various workouts. A basic 1 hour workout includes a warm-up, a few drills for technique, the “body” of the work (i.e. intervals, short races, or pyramids), and a cool down.

I'd recently purchased a concept 2 rower and although I've done orange theory for a few years, I never felt that I'd gotten proper instructions on technique. After research I discovered roworx and booked a class to get some form feedback. The class was taught by Mike and it was a great course that provides a great workout and some helpful tips on improving my form. Parking is accessible and the class is affordable. Definitely check it out if you want a great workout.

I used to pass by this spot all the time and always wanted to try one of the classes but never did. I finally signed up for a class last year and I’ve been going back ever since. Jack is the head instructor and teaches a great class. It’s challenging enough to burn a lot of calories / get a full body workout while also learning quite a bit about form and proper rowing techniques. Being right on the water makes it easy to look out and pretend it’s the real thing 😅 Love all of Jack’s lore about Olympic level rowing + the place has a ton of history and a really great vibe. I love the 60s feel and never want that to change! Really solid setup and hope to row on the water for real one day 🤞

Love the incredible world class rowing instructors at Roworx. Jack Nunn is the owner and a world champion rower and instructor. He makes rowing on the erg so fun! It’s the best work out I have ever done. Even though I am not a rower, he made me feel like one after the first class.
Really friendly staff and amazing facilities right on the marina. Highly recommend taking a class, you will be hooked like me!

Love this place! Fun and talented instructors, beautiful views and perfect weather make working out quite enjoyable. You get out what you put in with rowing and the instructors always motivate me to give it my all. Parking is always super easy and you just can't beat working out on the water. Great variety of folks who attend to so it's easy to feel part of the group. Even at my first class, it was easy to follow along with the help of the instructor and fellow classmates.

I just started working out at Roworx with my girl friend after seeking a high calorie burning workout that’s easy on my joints. I’m not very athletic, so I was a tad intimidated at first at the thought of taking classes from a Pro-Athlete!!! Haha. However, Jack was so helpful and nice. He taught me proper form and technique, answered my many questions, and gave me great fitness tips.

The workout is not only challenging, but motivating and fun. I love the energy of the class and the instructors.

Roworx is about a 45 minutes drive for me, but 100% worth it and that water view can’t be beat.

I have taken 10 lessons with Jack and his team of experienced, skilled rowing instructors. The hr-long classes are varied with rowing, conditioning and stretching. Lots of snippets from personal experiences. Stunning location by the marine water and breezes. This is where one unlearns poor rowing techniques (ex. picked up at gyms) and get it right for optimal total body workouts. My husband is a crossfit fanatic. He has gone several times here and raves about this place; the better for his Crossfit performance. Welcome! The people are so chill. Love it.

What an incredible workout paired with an absolutely stunning location! Workout for an hour while watching the sun set over the water? Ummmm…. yes, please!

I have no clue where my interest in rowing came from but, I have always been intrigued by the sport. I think part of my interest comes from purely how it looks; it’s quite beautiful to see a group of people working together to create one cohesive movement. I think the other part of my interest is a curiosity into how it feels to be a part of that one cohesive, strong, beautiful movement. Regardless of where my curiosity came from, it was really exciting to actually give rowing a shot at Rowox.

If it’s your first class, show up a little early to get situated; let the instructor know it’s your first time and they’ll do a quick run-down of the basics for you. Class will start out with a few warm up exercises followed by some breakdowns of the “perfect stroke” to help you make sure your form is on-point. Once warm-ups are over, be ready to put in some serious work… the instructors don’t mess around (especially Jack, the Owner). I’ve been going on a weekly basis for about 6 months now and I don’t think we’ve ever done the same workout twice, which is great! For me, mixing things up definitely makes the time go by faster.

Another thing that makes the time go by fast in class are the stories the instructors tell, specifically Jack’s stories. Of course, there are your typical “you get out of it what you put into it”s, and the “push harder”s, but they’re all mostly drowned out by Jack’s first-hand accounts of being in the sport for years. From stories of being on the National Team to stories of what it was like growing up with an Olympic Medalist as your Dad, Jack’s tales are all riddled with themes of perseverance and motivation and they’ll definitely get you to row a little harder.

Since starting to row, I feel so much better on a day-to-day basis and when I run or bike I feel stronger and faster. For more perspective, I’ve scaled back on riding and running and I’m still able to ride and run further than before which I can only attribute to rowing. Shortly after starting to train at Roworx, I completed my very first 1/2 Marathon and I felt great… I even did an hour-long Roworx class right after the race! Since then, I’ve since completed 2 more 1/2 Marathons and have completed my first Triathlon and I feel stronger and faster that I ever have.

The heartbeat of Roworx is its Members, led by Jack. Sometimes in a class of 10-20 people, there are a few strokes that we’ll magically end up taking in unison and for a moment my intrigue is fed and I can feel the beauty of the sport and the energy of what it’s like to all be working as one cohesive unit... all with different fitness goals, working together to achieve them.

Being in The Boathouse, there is the opportunity to row in an actual boat on the water and I think that’s next on my list! But for now, I’ll keep relying on the Concept2 Rowing Machine paired with Jack’s stellar instruction.
