Sac Dance Lab is amazing in so many ways! Really easy to sign up for classes taught by very talented dancers. I’ve had the opportunity to be on their Company team this year, and in just these past few month I have felt such a positive impact! Plus Isela does so much for the community of Sacramento, 10/10 would recommend this studio!

TLDR: Don't leave a bad review, they'll never let you take class again.
I had such high hopes for SDL. I've been a dancer for decades and wanted to take a new class. And SDL is closer to my house than where I usually go so, yay!
#1 Contemporary 3. It was 5 minutes of jumping jacks (huh???), 5 minutes of stretching, then a routine with no counts. There was no warmup, no technique, and the routine was hard to get into. I asked for the counts. I was told "it just went with the music"
#2 Jazz Funk 2. I went on the recommendation of the front desk person. Apparently this guy uses counts. There was no warmup, we stretched cold muscles for 10 minutes. No technique. Then went straight into a routine that had us immediately rolling on our knees. I asked if there was a modification. There wasn't.
I left. I explained at the desk that I simply couldn't do that routine due to a knee issue and could I get a class credit. I was told no. I asked if I could finish taking another one of the classes going on at that time. I was told no. (What I was not told but found out later was that each teacher is guaranteed the money from your registration 6 hours before class so there's no way to refund, transfer, or credit under any circumstances).
When I got home, I wrote a review. The next day I called the studio to speak with someone about my experience. I was told I would get a call back. I never did.
#3 Hip Hop 2. A friend recommended this class. She goes a lot and loves it. So I figured I'd give them another chance and change my review if things went better. I registered and was driving there when I was informed that due to my prior review I was prohibited from taking class ever again.
I spoke with the owner. I said I wanted to give them another chance. She said "We're past that" and "We can refuse service to anyone". I did receive a refund for this class though, so that's something.
In my original review I said that they clearly didn't want my money and I guess it's true. I'll give it 2 stars since my friend raves about this Hip Hop class and I trust her opinion.
Good luck! And may your dance journey start with 1, end with 8, and preserve your joints for later in life (believe me, you'll need them).

Very unhelpful, owner seem like she didn’t know how to run the place. Booked a studio for my dancers, was unaware that I needed insurance for minors and an agent even though I was over the age and also had my dancers parents with me. Asked owner if they had any wavier forms..replied that there was nothing they can do. My understanding is if you’re running a public business for dance customers, as an owner you should’ve had wavier forms knowing there is minors or not OR putting a policy where your customers are aware. A week before, I called ahead to hear other policies but was only notified to have an ID if under the age of 18 to “check in.” Overall, there was no refunds. Waste of my time, very upsetting to my students.

Esella or whatever rhymes with that name who sits at the front desk sounds condescending when you’re asking her for help.
Update. That’s crazy she’s the owner but talks in a condescending tone when you call to ask questions, you’d think she appreciates business lol

Unfriendly staff, poor customer service, and very unprofessional. They gave us the studio very dirty, full of hair and dust. Do not book their studio.

My sister recently rented this studio, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. The mirrors had smudges, and the overall maintenance of the studio was poor.
Additionally, the staff was unhelpful and unprofessional. There was a lack of clear communication about booking policies, and I encountered unexpected fees that were not disclosed upfront. The sound system was also faulty, which disrupted my session. I would not recommend this studio unless they make serious improvements.

What a great place to go for dance classes! The classes are fun and affordable. There's classes for kids, and then there's some specifically for 18+. They offer a wide range of styles from hip hop, k pop, heels, shuffle, ballet, jazz, and contemporary. There's also several class levels ranging from beginner to advanced. All the instructors are super friendly and patient. The classroom sizes are adequate. Class attendees are in a small group, so there's plenty of room to dance. I feel comfortable and encouraged to do my best.
The only "negative" thing I'd have to say is parking can be difficult sometimes, but you can definitely park on the street if there's nothing else available in the lots.

0/10 WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!! This was a terrible experience! They have the WORST customer service ive experienced i was hung up on twice then refused a refund for the other classes i bought after i told them i was disrespected and didnt feel comfortable taking classes here! This was my first class here and i was looking to have some fun and relax and now i feel more stressed from the bad interaction! When i called to speak to someone no one offered an apology or remedy they just said i should have checked their IG before purchasing even though i told them i dont use social media and i found this place through mindbody so i wasnt familiar with their company! I will be disputing this and NOT going back!! I also had told a bunch of friends to purchase packages as wo that we could take classes together and now they lost that business as well!! Im very disappointed in how they handle business!

Nice studio. If you arrive after 15 min start time you won't be let in even though that policy isn't posted. If it is posted its not in a place you'd see it when coming in or at the front desk to pay.
I was really looking forward to the Dance class this evening but my 6:17 arrival in the rain was too late unfortunately.

I love Kim’s Dance Hall Afrobeat class. An hour of intense dancing embedded with choreography. I am not big on the choreography, i just like to freestyle it a little bit. I highly recommend as a fun dance activity or workout. A trial will convince you.

On a whim, I decided to try a class at Sac Dance Lab tonight (Beginning Contemporary with Julia). Even though the choreography was too advanced for me, I still had a great time because of the positive atmosphere. Julia emphasized that all ability levels were welcome and encouraged class members to interact with each other. It was breath of fresh air compared to another studio I recently visited, where I felt self-conscious and unwelcome. I don’t live in Sacramento, but I definitely plan to take more classes here the next time I’m in town.

They have a nice range of instructors. I absolutely have a favorite. The building is cute. The owner is a pain and I have boycotted this place for years before recently returning because of her. If you want a good experience follow the policies and don’t leave any room for error cause they have a no forgiveness policy. Never pay ahead, it doesn’t get you a discount anyways, cause they will not offer refund if you can’t make it.

I signed my grandson up for hip hop classes and he loved it! He wanted to go again on the weekend but his age group only has one class a week. He can't wait to go again. Thank you for offering these classes at an affordable rate for kids, it's so appreciated and it's an awesome place! 10 stars!

I took the beginner jazz funk class with my gf for a spontaneous date and it was a ton of fun. Very diverse demographics and everyone seemed comfortable to be there. The routine was challenging enough but not so much so that you feel like a loser throughout the lesson. As someone with social anxiety, I appreciated that there was no individual performance showcasing at the end. The instructor was very kind and focused on everyone having a good time.
The only downside was that only one wall has mirrors, so I couldn't follow the instructor when I was looking at the other wall.

I wish I could give five stars, but the restrictive cancellation policy leads me to drop my rating below that. I had taken several classes with Anthony and he made the classes really fun - I liked his classes.
However, I am a parent and the cancellation policy of this studio is problematic - especially for me as a parent of a young child. Recently, I signed up for a class the night before the class met, and sadly I woke up to find that my son was sick and was throwing up. I stayed with him instead of going to the class. But, when I contacted the owners (the morning of my class) they insisted that they would not allow me to apply the credit for that class to another class because I did not cancel prior to 24 hours before the class. Yet, as a parent, sometimes my child gets sick and I won’t always know a full 24 hours in advance. Things happen. I was very disappointed by this restrictive policy, which seems especially problematic for parents. But I suppose that parents and clients such as myself are not a concern for the owners. This alone makes me think twice about going back for another class.

As someone who’s always wanted to dance, I’ve finally settled in my career and found the time to make this happen. I bought 4 sessions. I was so excited to attend my first dance class today and arrived on time. My GPS lead me to the front of the building where all the offices appeared to be empty and vacant so I was confused. I immediately called to get guidance however, no one picked up. I called several times consecutively and even sent an email and I got no response until 30 minutes later—I receive a call back at last. The young man on the phone informed me that their studio was located at the back of the building. After I’ve already left, I decided to return to identify it for next time. I enter the studio and find the instructor, Isela, instructing and then notices me a few minutes later and asks how she can help. I briefly explain my situation and she informs me to go next to door to get instructions. I went next door to wait an additional 30 minutes to be helped—by her again after she finished her class because no one was at the front desk to assist. Isela explains to me the dynamic of purchasing dance classes/session and how I lost this session even though I didn’t attend. I politely asked if out of courtesy they will allow me to use it for next time but with a dry response she says that I will not be able to and that there are many others who’s it’s their first time and that she can’t do anything about it. She continued to explain that I should’ve come on time and found the building because google pin points them with precision. However, Google does not. I then politely ask if I could get a refund for the other 3 sessions remaining that I bought (because at this point, I know I don't want to bring my business here just from how poorly they are causally handling this situation) but she says they are not refundable and in a demeaning manner explained to me that it is written in my receipt that I should’ve seen. Her responses and approach were unpleasant, inconsiderate, lacked understanding and was immensely disheartening. I was not only disappointed in the poor quality of service and inhospitable interaction, but also the entire first-time dance experience for me has been devastated. I will not be attending any classes that Isela instructs and if I cannot get a refund for the remaining sessions, I will use them with other instructors and never return to this facility as I do not feel that rapport is something that is of importance to them.

Tonight was my first and last time allowing my son to attend a class at Sac Dance Lab. He was rude, unprofessional, and lacking tact. When Isela tried explaining his behavior, it was because they’ve been having a tough night with “parents” asking questions and not following procedures. Probably because this was their first visit here. Nonetheless, we will NOT support or patronize this business again.

The absolute worst customer service. The owner and all the staff are EXTREMELY rude and self centered. They belittle you for no reason and think they’re superior to everyone around them. Don’t waste your time here, there are plenty of other amazing dance studios in the area where the staff don’t treat you poorly.

This studio brings the professional LA and NY dance experience with an encouraging and uplifting environment to Sacramento. And, it is affordable for all ages. I love the variety of styles and levels they offer, as well as the variety of instructors. I’ve been to studios where there is not much diversity in levels, backgrounds, or ethnicity, but Sac Dance Lab has diversity in all three. 5 stars, 10/10 recommend.

Sac Dance Lab is the first dance studio I ever attended in my life. I was always too embarrassed to start because I always felt like I was too old or needed to start at a younger age. There’s no time limit!! Who cares. I’m so happy I discovered this place because this studio, from the owners, to the instructors, and students, are super amazing. It’s a fun and welcoming environment for everyone, they have a great variety of classes to choose from. Whether you’re trying to build your skill or just have fun, there’s literally no judgement. If you’re on the fence, I suggest you come check it out, you won’t regret it!!

Fun dance classes for beginners. Would recommend anyone that has not taken a dance class to take only Beginner classes, not Beginner/Intermediate. The classes may be a little more fast paced for the mixed class. The classes are more fun to do with a friend, unless you are outgoing and are able to make friends quickly in the classes!

I haven’t taken a ballet class in probably 4 years. The adult beginner ballet tonight was perfect. There was a mix of experience levels and Monica gave us levels of difficulty options which was great. I could move between easier or harder as my very out of practice self allowed. Everyone was friendly, I felt welcome. Everyone was masked and the class allowed for good spacing between dancers. I’ll definitely return.
