After many years of teaching in the Bay Area and Europe, John Berg's dream was realized in April 2012 when Samyama Yoga Center opened its doors. A healing center in midtown Palo Alto, from the beginning Samyama’s intention has been to create community. We offer many levels of traditional hatha yoga, yin, gentle flow for beginners and stronger classes, too, for students with an advanced practice. Instructors offer private and small group study. Our purpose built center includes a lounge, spa-quality restrooms a massage studio and a beautiful boutique.

Serene space, wonderful teachers, and a healthy, non-aggressive and non-competitive culture for yoga. Highly recommended.

Visiting from out of town. I always enjoy going to Yoga studios wherever I travel. Samyama is a GEM. One of my faves. I was lucky enough to go to a Yin Yoga class in their state of the art yoga space. Not to be missed. I also had a massage at Samyama earlier same day. Wonderful. I recommend this Yoga studio to experienced and beginner yogis as well. I will definitely be back whenever I visit Palo Alto. If I lived here it WOULD be my go to studio.

This is the most beautiful yoga studio you will go to in all of North America. Everything from the curvature of the ceiling to the soundproof yoga practice room was customized by the owner, John Berg. They also have FloWater, my favorite water machine ever. John described how happy he was to see new students light up when they first stepped into this studio. Louis Jackson and Cheryl Hsu are two of the more popular teachers here.

The instructor I had didn't seem to know the basics of shavaasan and even the techniques behind chanting 'Om'.

Samyama Yoga Center is a magical place, a yogic oasis, where all are made to feel comfortable and inspired to pursue their yoga practice. Like many others, I was initially drawn into Samyama after passing by the beautiful building several times with piqued curiosity. The interior is as elaborate and artistic as the exterior, with the main studio as the crown jewel of the space. Now several years later, after having had the opportunity to take almost all of the classes and complete the teacher training program, I can wholey endorse SYC. The teachers, the staff, and the community of yogis are all wonderful. Samyama has become my main studio and a place where I feel at home.

This is now my go to yoga studio. The facilities are purpose built and amazing. The teachers are hand picked by the owner to form a group that covers a wide range of styles that complement each other. It could seem pricey, but none of the classes are short 50 minutes-you are definitely getting your moneys worth! And they are not just yoga-check it all out and you won't be disappointed.

Modern, almost spa-like yoga center with a wonderful range of yoga instructors and plethora of amenities.
I have taken classes from 2 different instructors. Both were very experienced and gave each student personal guidance, regardless of class size.
The facilities are very clean and well-stocked. There is a boutique in the lobby for yoga supplies and gifts. The staff are always very friendly and informative.

I was blown away by my experience at Samayama. Give it a try-- your first class is complimentary.
They have a GORGEOUS new facility, small classes, natural light, and enormous attention to detail.
The classroom is large and white and immensely relaxing. They have blankets, bolsters, blocks, pillows and everything you might need. Don't worry about coming prepared. If you forget your mat, the folks at the front desk will give you one. I have only had one teacher so far, but she was patient and thoughtful. Her adjustments to my poses were spot on. My class only had 4 people in it-- it was practically private. (Samayama is super new so no one has discovered it yet.)
The ladies room is HUGE! It has two showers (complete with all the amenities), lockers and a dressing room, and a beautiful separate bathroom (with nice lotion and a thoughtful bowl of hairties-- brilliant!) The guys room is equally large and impressive from what I could tell.
There is even a lounge if you arrive early and want to relax in a comfortable space.
Anyhow, I've been looking for a new yoga spot for a while and have finally found it.
