The entire city of Santa Cruz got an upgrade with this new Athletic Club. This is not your average gym, the equipment, thoughtful flow, and the focus on a holistic approach to health and wellness make this space and culture truly next level. Longevity is the main focus here with optional add ons to blood work, peptide treatments, hyperbaric oxygen chamber, red light therapy, sauna, cold plunge and more. Every part of this space was designed with specific thought and intention to help people get stronger, healthier, and more connected with each other. In 14 years of living in Santa Cruz, this has instantly become a culturally and social hub for our town! Chris and Cam, the owners, are in the trenches everyday with clients and staff supporting everyone with a team focus of 100 high fives a day. When you come in you feel like you are part of the team, not just a random person. Extremely grateful for this space!

10/10 training experience with Megan Harrison! I would highly recommend working with her.
I trained with Megan for several weeks upon starting my membership over the summer. While I am already very active, Megan introduced me to new movements, reminded me the importance of correct form, and empowered me to lift stronger and try new things. I also had a specific fitness competition/goal in mind and she tailored our sessions to help me get prepared and comfortable with all of the movements. I would recommend Megan to anyone who is looking to learn the basics to someone who is a seasoned athlete, but looking to push themselves and learn new movements. Aside from her knowledge in fitness & strength, she’s also a very lovely person and it was easy to chat with her during our workouts, making workouts more enjoyable.
Training with Megan was just one of the many reasons I love this gym - best investment in myself!

Love working out here. Tons of equipment in the weight room, there are always available machines for cardio, and there’s plenty of space for stretching. My son and I have worked with a couple of trainers and they were both amazing. The staff is always welcoming and kind if I have questions and the space is not only gorgeous, but clean!

It’s nice to be in a new gym. No complaints other than parking. It’s a small lot and the trucks that choose to purposely take up multiple spots are lame. The gym however, is not lame.

We love Santa Cruz Athletic Club! My husband and I joined right when they opened, and we couldn't be happier. This facility has all the equipment we could want (and more), it's clean and upscale, the staff are professional, and the vibe is super motivating. It's also convenient to grab some healthy groceries at Whole Foods right after the workout. Parking can sometimes be a challenge during peak hours, but street parking is always easy and available. You should definitely check it out!

I absolutely Love this gym! Everything here is super new, high-tech, and spotless. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. They offer amazing hot classes in both the yoga room and the red room- great teachers and all.
I’m especially a fan of the sauna and the snow shower. Honestly, the snow shower alone makes this membership worth it to me. It’s such a refreshing upgrade compared to the ice plunge at In-Shape Capitola, and it’s what sold me on joining!
Huge shoutout to Sunny, the girl behind the counter who helped me set up my account. She was everything I’d hope for in an employee if I were hiring myself. Super friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. It’s no surprise she earned Employee of the Month. She’s such a great representation of the company, and I’m sure her bosses are proud (and it looks like they are)!

One of the best gyms I’ve ever joined…clean, friendly, and well thought-out. They’ve got just about every machine and piece of equipment you could want. The staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and genuinely care about the members. Truly top class all the way through top to bottom. Awesome place!

Finally a premium gym for those that go above and beyond for their health and fitness. Reminds me of gyms in SF and LA ❤️. Love it. And the owners are so sharp, witty and intelligent. Brilliant business concept👌🏽.

Being a luxury gym isn’t just about the new equipment it’s also caring about the little details.
I have been thinking about this review for quite a while and I don’t write this lightly. I reallllly want to like this place, truly. It has the amenities I want—but be warned they all come at a steep price.
My main motivation for joining was the cardio and contrast therapy. A pro is that all the equipment is very nice and there are a good amount of treadmills that are always open. The locker room sauna is nice and the snow (more like ice) shower is a really cool alternative to a cold plunge.
For the sauna, it would be appreciated if there was a small bench where people can put their shoes while in the sauna and a second hook for the snow shower. I gave this feedback to the front desk months ago and nothing was done about it. Details are really important especially for the price.
Speaking of the price…almost everything comes at an extra expense. Towel service? $20 extra PER MONTH. Wellness contrast room? $50 for an hour and $10 each for extra people. I went for the middle membership to have access to the yoga room. It’s about $175/month. The room is pretty nice but there is no clock or fan and it gets quite hot. Class times are always changing and it seems like my favorite 4:30 Monday Pilates class is no more. PLEASE more 4:30 classes again 🙏. There are no classes between noon and 5, which is a bummer, I would totally take a late afternoon class. There are so many yoga teachers it’s hard to keep up with who is who. It’s hard to invite your friends to drop-ins when the drop-in price is $28/class.
Also overall cleanliness is kinda lacking at times, especially on the weekends. It’s normal to see dirty footprints on the floor or a hairball in the shower.
I know this all sounds really harsh…but I reallllllly want to like this place and I think if they made some tweaks it would be so much better. But right now I always ask myself if it is worth the price when I come in. I get it, they probably spent a lot building this place and they are local business and not corporate. But in this economy you better make it worth it.

Christian at the athletic club was an absolute gem! He was incredibly kind, considerate, and knowledgeable, making the entire sign-up process a breeze. He was so helpful and insightful, and thanks to him, I've found an amazing new gym. 10/10, such a kind young man!

I had such a great experience in Mardi's Pilates class! She's an amazing instructor-so knowledgeable, encouraging, and really attentive to everyone's form and comfort level. The class was a perfect mix of challenge and flow, and I left feeling strong, refreshed, and uplifted. Mardi creates such a positive, welcoming environment that makes you actually look forward to working out. The space was clean and calming, which just added to the whole experience. Can't wait to go back-highly recommend her class to anyone looking to feel good in their body!

I love this gym more than i have ever loved any other gym. I particularly love the Aura lounge. I am the skeptical type and at first questioned some of the treatments they have to offer while I was speaking to Rianne (spelling?) she gave me some background information and explained why and how the contrast therapy and infra red treatments work. She managed to be persuasive without ever seeming pushy which is not an easily attainable quality for your typical sales person. I am now fully addicted to the contrast lounge and plan on trying infra red treatments. Call me Happily persuaded.

We are lucky to have a club like this in Santa Cruz. I've been searching for a year for a gym that offers HIIT style classes early in the morning. Thank you, Santa Cruz Athletic club, for making this happen. I had my first red room exercise with Christy today and man was it killer. It's been at least 3 years since I hit the gym, so it was difficult, but Christy made it easier with her motivation and sense of humor. I'm so pumped and ready for the next class.

This gym is INCREDIBLE! The owners, Camile and Chris, did such a good job. I visited while in town during a weekend trip to Santa Cruz and I wish I was staying longer to explore more. This and pure mucle & fitness outside of Toronto are top two gyms for me and SCAC wins because of location and amenities and the overall energy of members and the team! 🥰 The quality and selections, equipment is top notch, the focus on recovery and actual wellness (peptides!), array of supps, high ceilings, luxe feel and location right next to a Whole Foods made me want to move. 😅

Santa Cruz Athletic Club is the Equinox for bodybuilders, but it’s built for everyone—from total beginners to seasoned pros. The equipment is top-tier, the vibe is serious yet welcoming, and the yoga program is chef’s kiss for any yogi looking to flow and grow.
Recovery options? Next level. Red light therapy, cold plunge, sauna—all included and all essential. And the real secret sauce? Devin, the GM. His energy alone will make you want to sign up and actually show up.
This isn’t just a gym. It’s the only choice for your health, your money, and your results.

Can’t express what a well-equipped, beautifully designed gym this is. Myself and three friends were visiting from the Bay Area and dropped in with a day pass on July 4th. Info for holiday hours and guest pass rate was available on their website (appreciated!).
$28 for 24hrs, so you can stretch the pass to two days which is wonderful. The building used to be a Rite Aid,so the layout is vast, open, and absolutely packed with every type of equipment you could want, regardless of training style. A gym of this caliber is a blessing for NorCal — the quality and size is damn near unseen in this area.
Sam and Devon, the Hiring Manager (I believe!) and General Manager, were welcoming, kind, and open about answering our questions.
Having come from Equinox (and having worked in management there for three years), I was astounded to learn the membership is only $78 a month with a 12month commitment (slightly more month to month, but still an option). There are higher tiers of membership that grant more access/use of their extremely well equipped recovery areas (saunas, cold plunges, etc). Frankly, I would have guessed over $300/month and think this is a huge steal.
I also met a Coach on the floor (Megan, if I recall correctly - pink hair) who was incredibly warm and friendly when I interrupted her workout to ask if she could help me find a roller for Bulgarians. As a Coach myself, I was so pleased with her professionalism and kindness.
If you’re in Santa Cruz and train at all — GO! If you’re passing through and train at all… make a stop! I’ll certainly be back.
Thank you SCAC Team!

Santa Cruz needed this gym. I needed this gym (lol... but really). The equipment is awesome and sprawling in variety. The classes are incredible (including yoga, hiit, and more). Everyone is friendly, welcoming, and polite. It's got high-end, sophisticated amenities without pretentiousness. It's the haven I know I can I go to relax, focus on my health, and take care of myself which is priceless. I can't speak highly enough of this gym, its offerings, its crowd/culture, its cleanliness, and its overall atmosphere/ambiance. Nailed it. Thank you very much to the owners.

I adore this gym, the workers at the desk are very kind and helpful. It feels like a very community centered place. After competing D1 track for the last 4 years, I was looking for a gym where I could continue my sport centered workouts & this gym offers that with rings, a rope, a turf, sleds, Kaiser machines, & recovery options. Stoked to be here!

At first I had a not so good experience with the front desk, but going in there the second time I had the pleasure to meet one of the owners and she proved that the experience that I had was one isolated incident and not their standard. The place is amazing, clean and well organized with a lot of really good machines for any type of exercise you might be looking for. Can’t recommend it enough and can’t wait to be back there again!

I love this gym, what an amazing new place to workout. I’ve been a member of Santa Cruz Power Fitness for so many years; that my membership changed over from Golds Gym. YEARS. I’m in awe of what Chris and Camile have curated here, such a beautiful, friendly environment. I also want to give a GIANT shoutout to Megan H. the best personal trainer; let me put it this way, she’s knowledgeable, encouraging, and experienced. Above all else she teaches you at the level where you stand.(we have the same knee injury, with the same surgery) I can not tell you how much I appreciate the understanding and gentle (sometimes not so gentle) guidance from Megan. I’m an older athlete/jock, not prone to advice or learning new things. Megan makes it fun, I’m so grateful for her teaching me to enjoy being able to move my body and lift heavy things.

Absolutely incredible club! Chris and his team nailed it—not a single detail was overlooked in building out this space. From top-of-the-line equipment to stunning aesthetics, this place has it all. The recovery area is next level, the yoga room is a dream, and the functional training space is the best I’ve seen anywhere.
If you’re even remotely into fitness, you need to experience this place. Get in there and see it for yourself—you’ll be blown away. Five-star facility all the way.

I absolutely love this gym and the owners are friendly and amazing.
The fancy lockers are easy to use and the sauna and cold shower in the locker rooms are awesome. They have made recovery accessible to everyone at different $ budgets.
My absolute favorite part of the gym is my trainer Megan. She absolutely makes me feel safe and welcomed in the gym. She also taught me how to use the kaiser machines, which give you incredible stats on body mechanics. Megan will make you fall in love with the gym and her workouts are fun, torturous fun. I highly recommend training with her if you are at all nervous about being in a gym or don't know where to start.
The people that go to this gym are typically nice and helpful. I've never had a problem asking for a spot, and I found that most people are genuinely excited to help. Making friends here is easy, especially if you take REDROOM classes.
I am very thankful to the owners for creating a very inclusive space for all people to train.

Kind of weird to leave a review for a place where I don’t have a membership and don’t plan on getting one.
…but after a quick tour I can say the vibe there is very positive. This place reminds me of the gyms/crowds I enjoyed back when I was training for professional sports.
That atmosphere is a little too much for me now as an adult who prefers a more laid back approach with less social pressure.
But if you’re into optimization, hitting goals and training for competition. This is without a doubt the best gym in town.

"I've been a member of almost every gym in Santa Cruz, but my current gym, Santa Cruz Power Fitness, truly stands out. The culture and environment that Chris and Camille have created far surpass any other gym in the area. The people, the energy, and the friendships I've formed make it more than just a place to work out.
