I have been going to Relevate for barre for about 9 months now and really love it. I have also been to other barre studios, and Relevate is really my favorite for the following reasons:
1. Shannon (coach/instructor) is very focused on the workout not only being good/challenging, but also adaptable to whatever physical or emotional challenges you're having that day. It's about showing up and being your best that day.
2. Everyone that attends the class has great vibes. You feel human-ness (at the other barre studios I go to people aren't friendly and don't say "hi").
3. There are variations in each class, which is great so you work out different muscles and don't get used to the same routine.
4. Shannon makes sure to check on each attendee to make sure the moves are being done correctly and no one gets hurt.
5. Shannon makes sure everyone can exercise, and offers adaptations in case you have an injury or are hurt.
I have also used the Nutrition Coaching services and they have helped me a lot. What makes the Nutriton Coaching stand out from other diet services is that it addresses many facets of unhealthy eating: from not noticing that your food choices may not be the best and learn better ones for yourself, to addressing that one may be over- or under-eating due to emotional reasons, and address that as well. More importantly, the sessions also cover that nutrition and emotional state are very linked, as well as self-image and dislike. It's a very integrative approach, and hence, all that you learn during the coaching sessions stick for life, and yo don't do the yo-yo dieting that you end up doing with other programs.

I am absolutely in LOVE with Shannon’s Relevate classes! I tried a few different barre studios before luckily finding her classes and she is by far the best instructor I’ve ever had. Shannon has an amazing energy each and every day and her classes are a perfect start or end to my day.
I really appreciate that she encourages everyone to do different modifications for all of the moves she offers based on what you want to get out of a workout or any pains you may be experiencing. It can be uncomfortable in other classes to not do the same moves as everyone else if the instructors aren’t offering a variety of modifications, so I’m really happy to have found a place that makes me feel comfortable to not do certain moves when I’m feeling pain.
Not to mention, the workouts leave an AMAZING burn each and every single time! This is the best workout experience I’ve ever had!!

She also lovingly pushes clients to the next level when they're ready for it. Relevate classes and workshops are the best classes in San Diego. Classes include Pilates, Barre, Yoga, meditation sprinkled with positive affirmations, body positivity and energy healing. There is truly nothing out there like it! Shannon puts her heart and soul into creating each class which draws in a deep sense of community and connection with other like minded women. Honestly I think Shannon’s classes and workshops are life changing and I can’t wait to get my butt in another class.

Relevate is my happy place! Shannon is an excellent instructor , teaches something new in every class and motivates us to challenge ourselves.The energy is high, the vibes are so positive and the burn is real.The class pattern targets total body workout and has cardio too.Shannon always encourages body positivity and self love. Every class is different and keeps us on our toes.I love how sore my muscles are after class :) We are encouraged to challenge ourselves when we want to go the extra mile but also to be kind to our body and take modifications whenever needed.I would say I have never felt stronger.Needless to say this is my favorite studio and workout and I look forward to her classes every week!

WOW!! I LOVE Relevate!! There is simply no other workout that compares. First of all, Shannon herself is amazing. She is so energetic, positive, and motivating, she makes you want to keep going. This workout really IS for everyone. If you're injured, no problem. You will have a modification for every exercise. If you're just sore and tired, take a modification rather than taking it turbo and still get a great workout. This class is not just barre, it's the best part of barre, combined with the best part of yoga and pilates. Besides the actual workout, you will find great support and a real sense of community from Shannon and all of her clients. If you are looking for a great workout and an awesome instructor, look no more! You will leave feeling amazing and empowered. Stop thinking about it and JUST GO!! You will NOT be disappointed.

When I began to Relevate with Shannon, I truly began to enjoy exercising again! Shannon is so talented in creating fun and challenging routines to bring out the very best in everyone! She is funny and very motivating to keep you going the entire class, but also in helping you modify any of the exercises, if needed. She is very intelligent and an true expert in her field. I wish I could give more than 5 starts for Relevate. This is my happy place and it's all because of Shannon's zest for teaching-her positive energy is contagious and she will have you shaking and quaking from start to finish. You will walk out feeling an inch taller and happier than when you walked in ;) If I'm ever having a bad day and I'm lucky enough to get to the Relevate studio for class, I feel instantly better! I have had my fair share of barre instructors at different studios over the last 8 years and she is by far one of the best instructors I've ever had. She was born to do this, no doubt! I absolutely love Shannon and her Relevate classes! As a physical therapist myself, I have tried out a lot of exercise classes and never gone back because the instructors have said things which are anatomically incorrect or given exercises which could lead to injury. That has never been the case with Shannon. Her workouts are challenging, and I trust her to be attentive and make sure that my form is perfect every time. Relevate classes are my favorite classes!

Every time I take a Relevate class I know a few things will happen for sure...I will be well taken care of, first and foremost. There will be no injuries or strain on the joints, Shannon would not allow for that. However there will be major burn in my muscles, and I’ll be laughing through the entire class. Shannon has the very rare ability to take extreme care of each person in her class, while simultaneously entertaining us with her amazing playlists and her downright hilarious commentary. You'll sweat, you’ll burn, you’ll laugh, and you end with the most satisfying savasena, corpse pose, ever. If you haven’t experienced a Relevate class yet, get there as soon as you can, because you are missing out!

I've been a dedicated Relevator since the beginning and I love how each class leaves me feeling restored after an intense workout. Proper form is always emphasized and modifications are available and celebrated, but that doesn't mean it's easy. For me, this is a sustainable movement practice that builds strength, both inside and out. I love it!

As much as I love to exercise, I have never been a big gym fan. I've tried several different workout studios, but they weren't for me. But I've been addicted to Relevate ever since it first started in early 2017, and haven't looked back since. I've been following (stalking?) Shannon wherever she goes. At Relevate, people are friendly, the atmosphere is just awesome, and Shannon is the BEST. She welcomes everyone with open arms and heart, makes you feel party of the family, whether you're there for the first time or for the millionth time. The classes are full of laughs, shakes, quakes, grunts, and modifications. People are encouraged to do what is right for their bodies, not what the instructor tells you to do. Relevate is one big wonderful family who are there for each other, through thick and thin. Did I mention I LOVE Relevate, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE Shannon :)

Relevate is by far my favorite barre class in San Diego. It's a great mix of cardio, barre, and yoga, but the best part of the class is Shannon! She is encouraging, upbeat, and makes a difficult workout fun. Shannon does an incredible job of structuring the class for all levels, so veterans and newbies all feel welcome. Love, love, LOVE Relevate! I come to class for the burn but keep coming back for Shannon’s infectious energy and dedication to her clients. Relevate is like a barre class remix that incorporates cardio, Pilates, yoga and then some. It’s a total mind&body workout that’s invigorating, challenging and addicting. Shannon brings it every class and inspires everyone to elevate their game no matter what level they’re at. Relevate is an amazing workout which connects mind, body and soul. Shannon is an inspiring, encouraging, powerful, caring and loving soul. Her classes shape you in every way: you’re not only building physical strength, you also learn more about YOUrself. I’ve also took classes during my pregnancy, and it has been a wonderful experience. You can always modify and listen to your body whenever you need to and the baby gets the positive vibes too ;). Relevate is also a great start after having a baby, it helped me to re-connect and appreciate my body just the way it is.
We are all unique, have different shapes and sizes and we should be proud of it – thank you Shannon for teaching me this wonderful message.

There are only so many hours in a day so I was looking for a class that combines strength training, cardio and stretching, all in one efficient package - Relevate does just that! Shannon (owner/creator/instructor) is encouraging, full of energy and jokes, and provides modifications for any physical or motivational state you're in. I look forward to sweating, laughing, burning/shaking (in a good way!) every class. I highly recommend Relevate and am so glad it's here in University City.

There are so many great things about Relevate and Shannon, it’s hard to pinpoint the one thing that makes her classes really come together. Shannon pours her heart and soul into her classes and it shows. Great music, a variety of poses, contagious enthusiasm, positive energy...my pet peeve is that most instructors don’t pay enough attention to proper alignment. Shannon demonstrates the combination, then circles the studio constantly, correcting our alignment and offering numerous modifications. I have a bad back and a few other age-related issues, and Shannon always checks in with me to see if I am experiencing negative pain. She has a sixth sense about gauging the mood of the class before we even start. There have been a couple of times when she senses our energy is low and Shannon adjusts the class on the spot, to a more restorative vibe rather than a high energy vibe. There is a cool down period and stretching at the end of every class, which is crucial to remain injury free. She cares about every person who walks into that studio and pays close attention to everyone, whether you are a new student, or if you’ve been going for a while. If you want a truly well-rounded workout, that is FUN, then you need to get yourself over to Relevate. It’s affordable, especially if you purchase a package, the location is central and the parking is plentiful. See you at the studio!!

I so wish that I could rate more than 5 stars! If you're looking for a workout that will truly change your life - this is it! Shannon is an incredibly talented instructor who truly, genuinely cares about every single one of her clients. The workout is intense - you'll be dripping sweat - but Shannon also gives great, easy-to-follow modifications so it's perfectly tailored to meet anyone's fitness level. Since working out with Relevate, I am stronger (inside and out) than I ever thought I would be, and am seeing muscle definition I've never, ever seen (not even in high school)! The best part, though, is that Relevate is truly a community. If you're looking for more than just a workout class - if you're looking for a place where you'll be welcomed and supported, not just in fitness but in all aspects of your life - you need to come into this studio.

Relevate classes are enjoyable and very effective. Shannon is most observant and knows if you're not fully into it that day-always offers alternative (more or less challenging) moves. You never feel bad if you can't quite do something. Shannon is totally dedicated to making sure you get the most out of your workout - that also goes for Pilates. I think she considers everyone a friend and everyone considers her a friend. TRY HER CLASSES-you will be hooked!

After my first class, this instantly became the workout I'd look forward to coming to every week. Relevate is not just a fitness studio for the betterment of your physical health. It's a community of empowering people who also help your mental well-being. Shannon Werner, owner and instructor of Relevate is an amazing soul. I first took a class of hers at a different studio in January 2016. I've followed her since and am now at Relevate. She cares about everyone's fitness and personal journeys. The workouts are friendly for all levels and will ensure a heart-pumping, sweaty workout. Strongly suggest you bring a towel!

I attend both of the workouts offered by Relevate; the bar & Pilates classes. Shannon’s natural ability to teach and communicate paired with her vast and dynamic knowledge about fitness creates the most effective, addictive and results driven full body workout I’ve ever had. At age 51, I feel stronger, more balanced and fit than I’ve ever felt. At first I was reluctant to add Pilates to my regime, but after a few weeks I can see wonderful changes in my body that I mistakenly thought would never go away with middle age. I have been going to Shannon's classes for years now and I absolutely love it. It's always a happy, fun and friendly environment. The entire practice is structured on modifications, making it completely your own but at the same time pushing you to work just that much harder. How to put my experience at Relevate into words.... First things first - Shannon is absolutely amazing. The barre class isn’t like anything else; it’s a cardio, barre, and yoga mix. She focuses on your postures and is always making sure we are getting the most out her class (including getting down one more inch!). She is so encouraging and uplifting. We always end the class with a blend of stretching, yoga, and breathing. I highly recommend her class to everyone!

Relevate has been the best barre class I’ve been to! I have 2 bulging cervical disks from a head on car accident a couple ears ago and just recently had another surgery. Needless to say, it’s hard to find a workout that’s low impact and high intensity to strengthen and lose weight. Shannon’s knowledge of health and physiology EXTREMELY HELPS during the class. She gives modifications for every move, stretch and cardio exercise. Every class is different, the music is always different and great , all body regions are worked equally and stretching at the end is a huge Plus! Also, the energy Shannon brings to the class always leaves you uplifted. I feel I lose inches, feel toned and strong just doing 2, sometimes 3 class a week. So grateful to find this class!
