“shefa” means abundance in hebrew, to heal in arabic and also translates to divine light and flow. Leah Zaccaria, owner, leads with the belief that there is enough for everyone. We can all be successful emotionally, spiritually and physically. Believing in abundance leads to an attitude of gratitude which leads to overall happiness.
The vision for shefayoga Venice is rooted in community with the hope and desire to bring back some of the magic that was once in the space of Exhale.
shefayoga offers the Venice community an expansive yoga studio with various styles of yoga and many offerings. We do not prescribe to one method of yoga but believe in creative dynamic authentic yoga.

I was a charter member of Yogaworks from 1987 till they closed their doors in 2023, when I joined Shefa. If Yogaworks reopened today I wouldn't think of leaving Shefa. The facilities and the family-style run operation makes the studio like a second home to me. I have three adult children who followed me to this excellent studio. L A's best yoga studio by far.

Leah's class is my favorite hot yoga class I've taken - she teaches a unique flow that is challenging, feels good and leaves space to improve your practice and push yourself to the next level. She has an inspiring story and messages that resonate, making it more than just a yoga class!

Dishonest and Unethical Business Practices
I’m extremely disappointed with Shefa Yoga and feel completely scammed. This is now the fourth time they’ve charged my card fraudulently. Most recently, a guy named Omar billed me $33 for a “drop-in” class I booked and attended through ClassPass, which means the class was already paid for. When I contacted them, they ignored multiple emails and refused to answer calls.
When I finally reached someone, they claimed the manager had “reversed the charge,” but that was a lie — the charge was posted to my account today, 48 hours later. I asked for an email confirmation of the reversal, and they refused, saying they “can’t help me with anything else.” There was no apology, no accountability, and no willingness to fix their mistake.
This isn’t an isolated incident — they’ve repeatedly mishandled payments, including charging me for towels I never used and failing to check me in properly through ClassPass, which triggers these unauthorized fees. It’s clear they store customers’ credit cards and misuse them, which is deeply concerning.
Shefa’s business practices are dishonest, unprofessional, and unethical. Be extremely cautious if you go here — I highly recommend using a virtual credit card or avoiding giving them your payment information entirely. I’ve reported this issue to ClassPass and my bank for investigation.
I used to enjoy the classes, but the way this business handles billing and customer service has been stressful and unacceptable. Until they take accountability and correct their unethical behavior, I can’t recommend this studio to anyone.
**I am updating this review because since then Omar emailed me apologized about the mistake and ensure this would never happen again and they also offered me credit for three classes at the yoga studio to make up for what happened. I do believe that how they handled this afterwards was professional so I’m gonna go ahead and update this review and give them 3 stars.**

I live in OC and decided to drive up to try the Rocket class. I loved it! While I haven't been able to make it back to that class, I bought a class package and also tried the heated vinyasa. I really wish there was a studio like this closer to where I live. I am from Oregon and have been searching for a studio that resonates with me since I moved down here four years ago, and finally found it a Shefa Yoga. The space is beautiful and feels very inviting and grounding, as well.

Exceptional teachers, beautiful studio(s)! I did the two week intro, loved every class. If I weren’t moving out of LA, unlimited would be the play for sure. Steve Jones is arguably the best yoga in LA. Leah and Yancy are next level solid. Shayna as well. So grateful.

When walking in for my 1st time women checking me in was eating and holding food in her hand while helping me. She asked if it was my 1st class and when I said yes, she handed me a waiver. But she didn’t explain any of the amenities. I had to ask where the restrooms were so that I could change. And on my way I saw that they had showers and a filtered water station.

I am not a regular member here as I don’t live near by, so I can’t review the community here. I come here for the Bryan Kest and Byron De Marse workshops. I drive up from Hermosa Beach for them as often as I can. They are worth the drive. The space is clean and smells amazing.

Consistently the best yoga studio in Venice for classes, yogis & accessibility - recommend the 26+2 class, or the heated vinyasa flow classes - when it says heated yoga, it MEANS heated yoga!

This place is cult-y, if you’re into that, you’ve found a home. My problem isn’t that, it is the elitism with which this place is run.
If you’re new, you are encouraged to try out different classes, but advanced ones are protectively reserved for pros, which their instructors intimate by giving little to no instructions during the classes.
Bit of an annoyance if you’re pro level, confusing and frustrating if you’re intermediate, and really actively discouraging if you’re new. Just a shitty class experience.
Active discouragement like this would be normal in a basketball court or a ballet studio but this is yoga - support is ingrained. And if you’re going to act culty, at least carryover the supportive element along with the collective elitism.
I’ve been a teacher for five years, done athletic yoga in a lot of studios, and this one was all negative. I tried giving feedback and checking my understanding both in person and in email, both times met with condescension and judgment. Great. Cool. Whatever.
Just feel valid if you get weird vibes here.

I started at this studio in December 2023 and love the quality of teachers and community. I enjoy the medium paced vinyasa teachers, who give good flexibility so you can make the class more difficult or less. I regularly attend unheated and occasional heated vinyasa classes with Shayna Hiller, Danielle Zuccarelli, Danielle Karuna, Sarah Hannala and Kari Jaffe. But there are many great teachers and something for everyone! And the student are a wide variety of ages which I like, I'm 42, students are between 20s-60s in pretty much every class there's diversity.

This yoga studio has changed my life. I came on a 2 week trial while I was staying in LA in 2023 for work because one of my yoga friends in Denver had recommended it. I was quickly convinced that there was no other place like it, and that the teachers here offered so much. After that work trip I decided that I would move to LA, live in Santa Monica (to be close to the beach and to Shefa) and follow my dreams. I’ve been here 7 months now and I go to Shefa 5-7 days a week, sometimes multiple times a day. My practice has expanded beyond my dreams, both in the physical realm but also very much in the spiritual realms. I am forever grateful for Leah and the rest of the incredible teachers here for being a part of my life, my community, and my ongoing fulfillment- I don’t know what I would do without you!!!!

I wish I lived closer, or that something like this existed in OC. This was one of the most high level classes I’ve ever been to. Very advanced. The other students in the class were also so inspiring!! It was an honor to get to participate And be part of it. So many arm balances and inversions.

I love the variety of rooms and classes - heated, non-heated, salt room, yoga, Pilates, strength training, meditation, sound bath, the list goes on. Every class is top notch. I also really love that it's open all day while most yoga studios shut down during the afternoon. I can drop in at any time of the day, and there will be a class available for me. There is a variety of classes. There’s something for everyone.
All the equipment I need are there for my use. They even provide a face towel and a shower towel. I appreciate those kinds of small thoughtful details. I love all the extra touches like the big open communal “living room,” the special events and Sunday brunches with local vendors showcasing their products and offerings. I love the front desk staff. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, and I love seeing people enjoying their workplace. Shefayoga isn't just a yoga studio, it's a community.
Easy parking. There’s validated parking in the garage - $2 for 2 hours. Enter on Navy Street between Main Ave and Pacific Ave. There’s also metered parking all around.

I’ve been a loyal member of this studio for over two years and have always deeply appreciated the yogis and instructors, some are truly wonderful, present, and create a meaningful class experience.
Unfortunately, that spirit does not extend to the front desk or membership management. I recently came in to take a class, having already paid for the month , and was met with coldness, inflexibility, and a complete disregard for my history as a long-time member. Despite clear communication that I had requested to cancel my membership after May, I was told it was already canceled and that I would need to pay $33 to attend a class I had assumed was included in the time I’d paid for.
No effort was made to understand, resolve, or even engage with kindness, just a transactional, dismissive attitude. It was disheartening and completely at odds with the values this studio claims to uphold.
Yoga is about care, presence, and community, but in this case, it felt like money was the only priority.
I want to be clear that this review is not directed at the teachers, some of whom are truly incredible and bring sincerity, depth, and care to their classes. My frustration lies with the studio’s handling of memberships and the lack of empathy shown at the front desk.
Rather than being treated as a valued member of a community, something yoga studios often pride themselves on, I was met with indifference and rigidity. It felt transactional, not communal. And that’s what hurts the most: the contradiction between the values spoken inside the studio and the way people are actually treated.
I’ve never felt compelled to write a negative review about a yoga studio before, but this experience left me genuinely disheartened.

This is a 6 stars review.
I started a 2 weeks trial to understand the yoga practice better and learn.
Now I go everyday.
I can not measure the amount of value I get everytime I walk into that studio.
-The teachers are first class, highly experienced, I can name each one.
The professionalism combined with experience and wisdom is a fundamental factor in this practice that keeps me inspired to show up.
-The staff is the friendliest, always willing to help.
-The community, I made so many friends and beautiful people that I continue to share experiences with.
-The studio is always clean and tidy.
-The location, about 500 meters from the beach, amazing to ocean plunge after the heated classes.
-The events and special classes.
You can feel the level of dedication and curation, I LOVE this studio and it is one of the reasons I am having such nourishment living in Venice.
I recommend this studio to my friends all the time without hesitation, there are classes for all levels and diverse styles.

If you’re looking for a sign, let this be it ✨
I was basically dragged to class by my friend after telling her I didn’t really want to go because I didn’t like yoga… Joke was on me! I went to that class and NEVER looked back. They’re right when they say “you’ll know when you know.” This has become my home. I’m now 532 classes in and I can’t imagine my life not only without yoga, but without Shefayoga Venice. The people I’ve met have no idea how they brighten my day every morning. The teachers have no idea how much I talk about them and how amazing they are. I ADORE THEM. The wonderful people that work there are always so helpful and kind. It’s truly a magical place. I was so lost when I started at Shefa… and I’d say I still am…. But every single morning I feel a little bit more found. A little bit more me. I’m so thankful. I love this place! Let this be your sign ✨

Dan Ward is not a DJ, and that is good news for us all. Because he's a deeply studied, thoughtful and outstanding yoga instructor. I always found it ironic that certain instructors ask me to go inwards as they play loud, questionable music while talking straight through savasanah, and missing that half their students are out of alignment. Not Dan. He keeps an eye on the class, makes adjustments, and has a thoughtful sequence with deep poses that we hold. A total joy to be in his class. Feels like you're with someone who cares. And it reflects in the other practitioners as well: the class is filled with people who have focus, a great practice and are trying to become better.
Heated, no music, excellent teaching, thoughtful sequence with longer deeper poses, and a quiet savasanah. I don't know many other current (Shefa) yoga teachers who are like this. But Dan is. 5 stars and more!

I’ve been practicing yoga for almost 20 years, I’ve studied in India and practiced in many countries. Shefayoga Venice is by far my favorite studio I’ve ever been to. It’s more than just a studio, it’s a community, a family. From the Front Desk staff to the management to the teachers, everyone is truly wonderful. They also have the most variety possible. It’s a very teacher specific studio, every class is unique. Some teachers are more Hatha style, some ashtanga, power, slow flow, yin, heated or unheated. Most with music, some without. They truly have classes for every level and interest. Not to mention the meditation, sound baths and workshops. Finding Shefa has been the best thing that’s happened to me since moving to LA and I am sooooo grateful.

So, I decided to check out Shelf Yoga with their cool first two weeks deal, but TBH, it wasn't all that. The classes were just alright, but the place was jam-packed! Like, seriously overcrowded! And they kept letting more people in after the class started, which totally messed with my vibe. I spent half the time shuffling my mat around to make room.
The front desk crew, including the owner, were kind of meh. They were all caught up in their own chatter and didn't even bother to acknowledge us properly. It gave off major fake vibes, you know?
Shelf Yoga was pretty overrated. The overcrowding and lackluster vibes at the front desk made it hard to really get into the yoga groove. Not really my scene, and I probably wouldn't recommend it to my crew looking for a chill yoga spot.

My experience with Shefa Yoga in Venice was extremely disappointing. Despite being a loyal customer for over a year, when I faced health issues and required surgeries, their response was inadequate. I clearly communicated my situation via email, explicitly requesting to pause my account, which should have fulfilled their requirements for such a pause according to their own policy. However, they violated their own policy by only granting a one-month pause and continued to charge my card for the following six months without my consent.
When I discovered the ongoing charges, I contacted the owner, who only offered a partial refund, insisting that I return to use the remaining three months of my membership. However, given my health condition, I am unable to work out for an indefinite period. This lack of understanding and empathy from the management reflects poorly on the integrity of the business.
Furthermore, they stopped responding to my emails, which added to my frustration and sense of disregard as a customer. I am deeply dissatisfied with this experience and am planning to dispute the unauthorized charges with my bank. Leah left me
with no other option than dispute the charges with my credit card. Overall, I cannot recommend Shefa Yoga's services to others based on this disappointing encounter.

I usually don’t write bad reviews, but I think it’s important to be honest. Because I saw the great reviews and made me very excited for my first hot yoga class at this studio. I got there on time but I didn’t know I had to do a registration, even that the class was paid already. I asked if I could do the registration after the class since it was about to start and I wanted to secure a space. The staff wasn’t friendly, they were kind of rude. For a yoga environment, I thought it was weird, they made me do the registration and I got to the class. It was started and had no space. I told them and they made a little space but it was really packed. The teacher was good, the class too. I just really dislike the staff and the crowded class. I didn’t feel welcomed to their space. I will not come back. That’s my honest review. I hope it can be helpful for others.

So grateful to have found my yoga home in LA. I love the heat in Studio B and the variety of teachers and class types. I love Mark M, Sean D, and Leah's classes the most. I also enjoy the sound healings and variety of special events / workshops held at Shefa. I really value Leah's setting of weekly intentions for her classes. Looking forward to deepening my practice and community here!

Holy high heaven! Best class I have ever taken. Sarah was incredible, and if you travel and take yoga you are likely familiar with the studios she taught with in North Tahoe. I cried for 20 minutes. Flow was unique, music insane and the word came so easy for her. Thank you so much. I can’t wait to come back!

This studio is incredible - love the variety of teachers, the space, and the caliber of classes offered. My favorite teachers are Danielle Z. and Leah, the owner of the studio! Danielle's classes are well balanced, and hit the soul in a different way every time (plus her music and encouragement sets the perfect tone for the day!). She ends each class with a sound bowl, and I always leave them feeling zen, sweaty, and ready to take on any challenges I may face that day. She puts her heart and soul into each class, and it's evident and so appreciated. I love mixing Leah's classes into the week as well. She is so incredibly thoughtful about creating a theme for the week, and talking through the theme while keeping you flowing between different poses that work out every part of the body. I'm so glad this studio exists, and also appreciate the various community events they offer. It's hands down the best studio on the west side.

My favorite instructors are Danielle, Keith and Leah and I highly recommend those instructors to anyone new joining Shefra! I enjoy taking Danielle’s 7:30 AM class and it’s the best feeling to the start of the day. I always feel so much lighter after her class and she pours her heart and soul into teaching. I’m glad I found a great yoga instructor in Los Angeles.

I love this studio and really appreciate how the instructors focus on the body and mind.
Nicolette had the most beautiful Restorative + Reiki class this evening and I really enjoyed Tonya's Kundalini class (just wish it was at a more accessible time for me), but I've been going for a couple of months now and haven't had a bad class yet.

Such an amazing studio! I love all of the variety of classes they have to offer. I MISS MEDITATION CLASSES WITH TRUE THO!!! Please, please bring those back!!! I came to this studio because I dealt with a lot in life concerning fear and anxiety. I went to True's Meditation classes along with her Gong Bath Classes and I was HOOKED! She helped me work through a lot of inner struggles with her meditation guidance. True's essence is just beautiful and unmatched. Ryan, the Studio Manager has been so sweet and amazing! Sarah's classes are great too, I especially love that she introduces herself individually to everyone in class before starting class. Everyone I have met here at Shefayoga has been so sweet. The staff as well as other members have now become my friends. <3 I paid for the year in advance because I am so sure that I am meant to be here at Shefayoga. 100 out of 10 recommend! :) I only wish I had more free time in my day to attend every single class I want to.

I took a class with instructor, Sarah Hannala, I was moved to tears multiple times throughout the practice. Her confidence in her teaching is inspiring. Her genuine love for people and self is easily observed through how she moves, communicates, and pours into each individual throughout her class. I woke up this morning re inspired and motivated after soaking up her energy in simply one session.

Best yoga place ever! I got introduced to yoga in Montreal and I liked it, but at Shefa I met teachers that transformed my way of practicing, making me improve so much that I now cultivate a passion for yoga! Danielle is without a doubt 100% committed to bring a experience in EVERY class with her words that speak to my soul! I am deeply grateful!! Marisa is a next level teacher that make us sweat in intense vinyasa with poses I cannot believe I am now able to do because of her! She makes me want to push my limits! I had the chance to take 2 classes with the owner leah that brings the energy up with no excuse practice and planks! Love her dedication and passion! I also had the opportunity to learn and practice with Beau, Sean, Dan, Sarah, and Ryan they are amazing and all different! They bring their own style to each classes and This is what I love the most about Shefa, every classes and teachers bring value to my practice! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TRANSFORMING MY LIFE!

Shefayoga is my go-to yoga and meditation studio in Venice. It has a variety of classes at all possible times that can fit most people's busy schedules. It also have many talented and caring teachers. Besides the heated yoga classes (my favorite teachers are Dan Ward, Sean, Beau), the Kundalini class taught by True is very special and truly inspiring. It helps clearing my mind and find my spiritual strength after a long week or long day of intense work or challenges. I also love True's 8am meditation classes last year. It was such a great way to start a day. True managed to integrate meditation practice into her kundalini classes and I love it! I highly recommend Shefayoga and trying out heated vinyasa and kundalini classes there!

I have been doing yoga for many many years both here in LA And in New York City. This is by far the absolute best yoga studio I have ever been lucky enough to be a member. From the vivacious owner, to the front desk staff, the fabulous yoga instructors, it is the perfect studio. Run don’t walk to Shefayoga. You won’t be disappointed!

I love the staff, variety of classes, many options for times, educated & dedicated instructors and the community you all have built. It is truly the best!!! I have been going to many studios over the last 20+ years on the west side and this studio is far the best for all of the above mentioned. Thank you all for opening here and all your dedication during the challenging last 2 years! When everyone was closing their doors you all stayed strong and fought the fight! xoxo

Shefa is wonderful on so many levels, from the professional classes to the knowledgable compassionate staff.. this is the best yoga studio I have ever been a part of! The owner Leah is full of energy and her heated vinyasa class in incredible. They offer a $25 two week pass for new members and you can try all of the classes before committing. Highly recommend this studio, worth every penny. Parking is easy because theres a garage and they validate, and it is blocks from the beach.

Shefayoga is a very welcoming, light-filled, well run studio. Owner Leah Zaccaria and General Manager Ryan Cooper have done a great job in making it feel relaxed and informal while maintaining an organized, successful business. Scheduling is seamless via it's Mindbody log-in and I'm very happy with the reasonable $149 monthly subscription package, as I tend to take two to three classes per week. Dan Ward's Vinyasa classes are always well thought out, never by rote, and always enjoyable. To me, one of the primary litmus tests of a yoga studio is: "Am I going to feel better after having taken a class here than I did when I walked in?" And the answer at Shefa is always a resounding "Yes!" from start to finish. I couldn't be happier.

Amazing space with kind, welcoming people and three clean beautiful studios. Throughout the day are a constant rotation of classes ranging from heated fast-paced flows to precise technical instruction to moody meditative yin. You can’t really go wrong with a class here - I always walk away feeling like I’ve pushed myself a bit further in my practice

I LOVE the GONG SOUND BATH!
It’s an Other Worldly Experience. The vibrations coming from the Gong alone are energizing and healing. Not to mention the stuck energy in the body it releases. It’s never the same class twice. No matter how many times I attend, I receive something new. Part of the reason this is such a powerful modality is Tru’s passion to healing and empowerment. I’m grateful for every class I’m able to attend.

This is my favorite yoga studio on the west side. All the teachers are amazing! There's something for all levels and personalities. Infrared heated yoga is of my favorites at Shefayoga but R3BAR training is also so good. They even have Kundalini yoga which I also love. Highly recommend this studio and yogi community.

Beautiful studio & amazing instructors. I came for a drop in visit while visiting the area & was welcomed with open arms by the staff and members. Britt was the most amazing instructor - she was so giving with her energy and her sound bath was deeply moving. If I lived here, I’d be a regular, can’t wait to come back & visit!
