Love the focus on somatic connection here at SHIFT Pilates! I took my first class a couple months ago and loved it so much that I coordinated with Ada Herrera to host a Monima Alumni X SHIFT event, and it was such a nice experience! Kat led the class with a welcoming, all-levels approach that felt gentle and accessible. For many of our alumni, it was their first time trying Pilates, and they absolutely loved it. Thank you, SHIFT Pilates for creating such an intentional space, and thank you Ada for doing such a fantastic job building community at SHIFT! We're so grateful!

I’ve been attending classes at SHIFT Pilates for a several weeks now and I'm very happy with my experience so far. I felt welcomed by the warm, down-to-earth personalities of the instructors — their genuine enthusiasm and care make the difference. The studio itself feels intimate and thoughtfully designed, and I love that the class sizes remain small so each of us receives individualized attention. I appreciate the mindful, somatic approach the studio emphasizes and they have some unique class offerings that I've never seen offered at other studios. If you’re looking for a place that offers more than just a workout — one where you’ll be seen, supported, and encouraged — I highly recommend SHIFT Pilates.

This is the place to be! Being in my late 50s and sedentary, I was nervous to start Pilates. But the beginner somatic foundations class was a perfect way to get back in touch with my body movement. A year later I’m so much stronger and have moved on to more challenging and really fun classes. I love the calm supportive vibe of the studio and I’m happy to support this woman owned small business.

I have been going to SHIFT Pilates since it opened …. And must say there has never been a moment that I was not happy!
Katie the owner is a true professional and is aware of the body structure internally , externally . There is no competition ( only if you compete with yourself) Somatic pilates is body awareness , and mindful movement this is SHIFT Pilates I highly recommend the studio with a great comfortable community.

I’ve been to a decent amount of studios and by far this one feels like home. Everyone here is so nice and welcoming. I have taken most of the classes with a majority of the teachers and love them all for different reasons. The ultimate membership is absolutely worth it as I can pop into any class and don’t have to worry about limiting myself. SHIFT has opened a new world of Pilates for me and is welcoming all people.

I'm not new to Pilates but it's been a long time and I just started going to SHIFT but I LOVE it!! I just had a really great class with the owner, Katie, and I also took Kat's class last week, she was really sweet. Can't wait to try all the different instructors and get back into the swing of things. The studio is really cute, clean, and temperature controlled. I don't love that it's upstairs but most small businesses in San Diego are in old buildings that don't have much ADA compliance/disability access, it's not their fault! Perhaps there's an elevator that I don't know about

I purchased the 10 class Groupon package and had my first class with Kat and just wanted to say that she is a lovely instructor. I’ve taken a lot of reformer Pilates classes, and the way that she instructs and her pace makes it a seamless process while learning the art of Pilates. She has a way of making you aware of your form, but does not single anyone out. She also has a calming and inviting energy that makes you feel relaxed and present.

My second class was with Katie and she was so aware of everyone's posture and finding out if anyone had anything they wanted to focus on in the class. I told her I have weakness in my hips and she asked if I wanted her to stay away from that or challenge me and I was all for the challenge. I got into Pilates so I can work on my weak points and the instructors at SHIFT want you to succeed. I am so happy to be there! Thank you!

I went to a pilates class at SHIFT today with my wife and we feel great! The owner and teacher Katie is extremely knowledgeable about anatomy and movement. She made the class fun and it seemed like the class was full of repeat students. One thing that stood out to me was how spacious the studio was. It felt very relaxed, friendly, and professional. I am relatively new to reformer pilates and Katie's cues on how to interact with the machine made me feel very comfortable. I left feeling lighter through my knees, hips, and spine. Whether you are coming to pilates for strengthening, injury recovery, or general exercise and well-being, SHIFT systems will not let you down.

I love it here! I'm new to pilates and tried a few other studios before I came to SHIFT, and I knew right away I had found the right place for me. The owners have taken a lot of care to create a calm, spacious, and sensory friendly environment. All of the instructors are attentive and give helpful feedback and corrections throughout the class. The Neuro Pilates class is a unique offering that you won't find elsewhere. I've noticed significant improvement in my chronic pain since going here. Highly recommend!

As someone who was a die-hard CorePower Yoga fan for almost 20 years, I never thought I’d find anything that could compare—until I discovered SHIFT Pilates. After years of pushing myself too hard in Sculpt classes and not listening to my body, I ended up with a back injury that forced me to reevaluate my fitness routine. That’s when I heard about Somatic Pilates at SHIFT, and I decided to give it a try.

I’m so glad I did! My body has never felt better. I feel more toned, my core is stronger, and for the first time in years, I feel like my body is moving the way it’s supposed to. The instructors at SHIFT are phenomenal, but I especially love the early morning classes with Katie. Starting my day with her guidance is such a gift. She always checks in to see how my body is feeling and asks if there’s a specific area I’d like to work on. Katie’s care and intentionality make every session feel personalized, and it’s clear she genuinely wants to help each of her students move safely and effectively.

Tuzdae’s Somatic Centering classes on Sunday mornings are also incredible! The way she integrates stretching and strength is so seamless—you barely realize you’re working out, but your body feels fantastic afterward.

Since coming to SHIFT, I’ve learned that I don’t need to push myself to the point of pain to get a great workout. This studio has truly been transformative for me, and I can’t recommend it enough! Whether you’re recovering from an injury, looking for a way to move more intentionally or just want a great overall workout, SHIFT Pilates is the place for you!

I love Shift Pilates. I followed Katie to the her new studio because she is such a caring and great person. Once there, I met Tuzdae, another great instructor. I learn something new every class. I was really disappointed by my class with Tuzdae. She was on her phone for at least half of it, watering plants, walking out of the room. Half the class was new here and still we received very little attention or feedback. I honestly wanted to leave in the middle of class when I noticed she didn’t seem to care. They even have a sign at the front saying no phones, and you’d definitely expect better from the instructor.

Enjoyed the experience and recommend it to others!

The instructor was very friendly and personable from the moment I walked in. She made the space feel safe and made adjustments throughout the workout. She intentionally has small classes so she can pay attention to each attendee. She also has a great sense of humor making us all laugh!

There were exercises with a ball with numbers/letters on them, we also utilized the box and had a full body workout with the reformer. The time went by too fast, I didn’t want class to end.

Also i love the color of the reformers hahah.

When I moved here a year ago, I tried a lot of Pilates, yoga and barre studios to find my place. It took almost a year, but finally the studio opened, and I am a lifer. Katie and Tuzdae are not only excellent Pilates instructors, but they truly understand each individual body and makes adjustments for everyone. I loved to be challenged and I can feel my body truly changing in two months. I also love the special events that they have, Including the sound bath and the myofacial work. It is truly a holistic place, and the space that they created is peaceful and calming. Thank God that they also have parking. I cannot recommend this place enough!

I love this studio. It’s so calm, and spacious with the perfect amount of reformers to get the best attention from your instructor for guidance, and corrections for optimal technique. The private parking lot is also a plus. I will say after taking classes from these instructors, my mind, balance and awareness of my body is so much stronger than I started. I now appreciate the power of my breath and my new strength of my body. Nothing is predictable of their routines and that itself is the best part that keeps me coming back for more

Katie will change your life...no exaggeration. She's by far the BEST pilates teacher I've ever had in my 15-years of pilates training. She takes into consideration the entire body (mind...injuries...strength) and creates the most dynamic workouts I've ever experienced. The brain games she incorporates into her workouts are one-of-a-kind. I head back into work with a creativity surge that I've never been able to replicate elsewhere. Katie is an amazing instructor if you're looking to get into pilates or perhaps your 40+ years old and no longer want to be in the classes with blaring music and kids half your age. No need to be intimidated walking into this studio...Katie is the most welcoming, kind and patient person and she will make you feel at peace immediately.
