I absolutely love this gym and feel great going here every time I arrive. The staff is incredibly helpful in the equipment always clean and ready to be used. I've never had to wait for a rack to be open and I'm always able to do everything I set out to do for the day. This is the perfect gym and I can't see myself going anywhere else.

The only gym I’ve been able to be consistent at.
Incredibly supportive staff, with lots of built-in accountability. Very flexible hours - when life gets crazy, I can still get my planned workout in.
And Kyle is just an awesome and highly motivating coach. This makes for a gym where I’m really happy to be at.

Great facility. Love how you can scan in any time you want. I go to the gym around 9:00pm most nights and there are rarely over 10 people.
Great atmosphere for growth and very friendly people.

Joined this gym right after I moved into the area. I immediately knew this was the best gym I’ve ever joined from the great equipment to the incredibly friendly other members and staff. Best part of my day is coming in and getting in a great lift with some great folk!

Moved here from out of state, easily got set up with a membership and was lifting the day after I arrived.
Great selection of equipment, whether you are a powerlifting specialist or a strength generalist.
Staff is also very responsive to questions.

I’ve been here for a few weeks so far, and gym-wise, the experience is great. It’s fairly small but has all the equipment you’d need for a fulfilling workout. As another member mentioned, they do get pushy on selling coaching but I understand it’s business. However, I can say that my husband is getting coaching here and he has a a great experience with it. I was also impressed by how thorough their policies were to accommodate clients. Great gym!

oCal Powerlifting is the best gym I’ve ever trained at. The equipment is world-class — combo racks, deadlift platforms, squat racks — and there’s never a wait. The 24/7 access and clean facility make it super convenient. What really sets it apart is the community and the coaches: welcoming, motivating, and incredibly knowledgeable. It’s the perfect place to get stronger, whether you’re a beginner or training for competition.

I would absolutely recommend this gym hands down. The variety of specialized equipment dwarfs what a commercial gym could offer. I never have to wait for equipment or racks whenever I go, and members are incredibly helpful and motivating. Being able to train with other like minded individuals reminds me why I enjoy powerlifting so much.

An exceptional gym! I've trained at SCPL for seven months now and couldn't imagine going anywhere else. I arrived with a knee injury and could barely hit depth without pain, but Sebastian helped me and gave me an exceptional program and recovery plan. I'm the strongest I've ever been and can't wait to do my first meet later this year. SCPL makes a conscious effort to upgrade their facility and equipment and it's only going to get better from here. Whether you're an experienced lifter or brand new, you'll find a welcome home at SCPL!

I’ve been powerlifting since 2021 and truly love the process of getting stronger. After some major life changes causing me to move cities, finding a new gym with proper equipment turned out to be much harder than expected — if you’ve gone through it yourself, you know the struggle.
Thankfully, my coach referred me here, and I couldn’t be happier. The quality of equipment is top-notch — absolutely nothing like your typical commercial gym. There’s no waiting around; there are plenty of combo racks, deadlift platforms, and squat racks to get your workout done. The community is fantastic too — people here are open-minded, respectful, and genuinely helpful. One of the biggest highlights for me is the gym culture: everyone cleans up after themselves. Weights are re-racked, benches and bars are wiped down — and it’s not the staff doing it! That level of respect goes a long way and makes it enjoyable for everyone else.
If I had to point out one drawback, it would be the cost. This gym is definitely an investment — not priced like your $20/month box gyms. But honestly, you get what you pay for; otherwise, you’d be better off at your local Crunch Fitness. That said, they do offer referral discounts for training programs, and it would be awesome if they extended that to open-gym memberships too. *ahem, cough*
All in all, this is an incredible gym. I almost don’t want to post this because I’d love to keep it a secret so it never gets too crowded! 1:1 coaching is available, and they even host monthly hangouts to build community outside of training.

For some background: I worked one-on-one with a personal trainer 2x/wk for 6 months in 2023, then took 2024 off for personal reasons. Due to changes in budget and wanting to find a gym I could access on my schedule (with or without a trainer), I found my way to SCPL at the end of March, and officially started my 4x/wk training program on April 4th with Coach John.
While I was apprehensive about a training program that didn’t involve a coach guiding me at every session, my one-on-one “accelerator” sessions with John helped us get a baseline for where I was strength and conditioning-wise, what I needed to work on, and solidified my training goals.
John gives great and timely feedback and encouragement which has reignited my confidence and kept me accountable, and I’ve made SO much progress—even after a year off! I’m hitting new PRs on bench, and recently hit my old PB on deadlift (with high bar squat not far behind). When there are times I feel a little unsure about form or could use some pointers, I can almost always find John around (I work out in the mornings) and he’s happy to assist.
While I’m still new to the gym and getting familiar with the people my schedule overlaps with, everyone I’ve interacted with has been super friendly! I almost always see the owner, Zack, there as well, and you can tell he cares so much about curating a welcoming atmosphere. They put on regular social events, have an active Discord server, and hype each other up for PR attempts and at powerlifting competitions. The biggest muscle at this gym is definitely the heart 🥰

World Class Gym! I moved over to this gym a few months ago with the goals of improving my strength and technique by working with a Coach and improved programming. Strongly recommend working with Coach John if you want the best strength coach to help you reach your goals. The gym has great equipment and they are making continued improvements. I've never had to wait for a rack or a machine so this is a really efficient way to plan your training. Gym is 24 hours which is super convenient for my early morning workouts. Zack the owner sets the tone for his team and he's building a great community here. Facility is always clean and welcoming. Looking forward to setting new personal records and growing with this team.

Great gym! It's fairly expensive and a small gym, but the way everything is set up, I never have to wait for any equipment. The equipment is up-kept well. My coaching with John has also been great so far.
They are fairly persistent on the sales side of things, but I'd say that's okay because they are selling a good service. They also are very upfront about costs and policies, and if you have any questions or worries about starting they are happy to answer.
I only gave it 4-stars due to how expensive it is, but you get what you pay for, so I'd highly recommend them.

I’ve been a member of SoCal Powerlifting for 5 years and coached for 4. Had little to no interest in powerlifting and more interest in brolifting, impressing the ladies at 24 Hour Fitness on Anton by bouncing the bar off my chest. I stumbled upon Socal Powerlifting during COVID and found the staff and members to be incredibly knowledgeable and kind. No one was pushy about signing up long term or with a coach, they just let me do my thing and seemed like they just wanted to build a community that shares the same passion for powerlifting that they did.
Fast forward 5 years and my weightlifting journey has completely changed with discipline, humility and a ton of good science. The coaches, staff and owner are incredible human beings who now feel like family. Needless to say I plan on sticking around for as long as Zack, Alex, Tim, Sebastian, Jon and the others are around. Or unless they kick me out, which won’t happen because I’m not a douchebag, so if you are one, be mindful of getting banned by the owner (it has happened).
In terms of technical expertise, some of the best known powerlifters on the planet have trained and continue to train here, so you know you’re getting solid education. One of the best signs of humility is when you’ve got the “student mindset” - the coaches here have coaches themselves, so you know they’re constantly learning and evolving, and taking you alongside them. The coaches will take their time to learn about your style, form, habits (good and bad), and will slowly work on your technique to bring it to a very high standard.
The vibe is great, parking is easy, the gym is spotless, the equipment is world class - but the training I’ve had here is something that has really changed my life, because it made me take my fitness more seriously, which in turn has transformed my character. I’ve had the privilege of watching this little garage gym grow - into what is now a big garage gym - and I hope for the sake of the staff and community that it continues to flourish.

Despite the great reviews this place has, I unfortunately was not able to experience the same thing. The coaches and owner are very friendly however, that is where the pros end. I was a rookie powerlifter that did not know what training methods I would need or where to start. I foolishly put myself in a membership with the goal of a 225 bench, 405 squat, and 500 lb deadlift. For two years I was given training methods that did not fit with my personal goals and was always told to flare my elbows during bench. Because of the advice, I ended up with a minor shoulder injury which since then has recovered. I felt that the feedback during my training was lackluster and was reviewed by someone who sounded like they didn't know what they were talking about. I asked my coach in the beginning before we started if the equipment was ok and he said it was. Fast forward some time later he said I needed to get a gym membership to add new exercises. The coaches here are more like gym bros than actual coaches. I was not able to find any one here that has any experience in Kinesiology or strength and conditioning other than the owner. Heck, I recently found out I was getting coached by a used car salesman. Nothing but constant emails trying to get me to reinstate my membership and since then I have not been able to access my old training videos. For two years, I did not progress in the slightest and that was with a clean bulk, 8+ hours of sleep and keeping stress to a minimum. If you're inexperienced or new, this is not the place for you. You will be taken advantage of like I was , $200+ each month down the drain. Stick to Starting Strength if you're a newbie. I have been doing Jim Wendlers 5/3/1 program for 3 months and have gotten more progress than I have for 2 years at this place.

10/10 recommend SoCal Powerlifting if you want to get WAY stronger. I started my powerlifting journey with SoCal Powerlifting in early July of 2024 as a 60kg lifter working with Coach Mike. I competed in Olympic Weightlifting for 6-years & wanted to switch to powerlifting to just focus on getting stronger. Coach Mike has been amazing at helping me get WAY stronger, I’m honestly surprising myself. He’s also been so patient and helpful in working with me to adjust my technique from Oly lifting to Powerlifting. All my 1:1 sessions with him have been so thorough and helped immensely with technique getting dialed in & things clicking in my brain. Beyond that, Coach Mike really goes above & beyond. If I’m ever there in the gym when he is he always comes by to say hi, is available for a spot, and will provide some extra helpful feedback. He also has gone out of his way to connect with me on a personal level which I appreciate & always feel like that makes for a great coaching / athlete relationship. He reminds me to take care of myself & be kind to myself which I need to hear sometimes. He also hosts office hours (once a month I think) for 2 hours late Saturday mornings. Which is a great opportunity to get more direct support from him & make friend with his other athletes. Lastly, I’m able to submit videos of all my lifts through their training app & he always provides prompt feedback. I’m writing this mid September & am already surpassing some of my 6-month goals after just a couple months with them. One goal I already surpassed is I really wanted to hit a 200lb back squat, last week I hit 92.5kg/203.5lbs for 2 reps! It was easier than I thought it would be too. I’m very excited to see what my one rep max will be. Last week I also hit 110kg/242lbs for 2 reps on deadlift, this was another BIG PR for me & moved much easier than I thought it would. I set a 6-month goal of a 250lb deadlift and I have a feeling I’m going to hit that soon. I haven’t attempted any PR’s in bench yet, but my technique has been getting dialed in & I’ve been feeling much stronger. Overall I’m super proud of myself & impressed with SoCal Powerlifting for helping me get so strong. In weightlifting I was hitting a plateau where I was barely getting stronger, so to get this much stronger so fast is an incredible feeling & a testament to how good their coaching is. Besides the coaching with Mike being amazing, I also really love the gym. They have great equipment & they keep it clean. Additionally it’s a fun environment to be around a bunch of other people lifting heavy, very inspiring! I’ve also had many positive interactions with the rest of the team at SoCal Powerlifting. They had a social hangout just this past weekend where we all got to lift, eat tacos and hang. It was fun getting to meet more people & they definitely have a good community and vibe going on. The owner, Zack, is so friendly & helpful. Coach Tim has also been very kind & helpful. I went to college with Coach Kyle at CSUF & it made me so happy to see a familiar face in the gym. He’s always so nice & a pleasure to talk to. I appreciate Coach John sending check in messages to see how I’m liking everything. You can tell they truly care about you as an athlete. Lastly, unfortunately, I have to end my 6-month contract with them early as I got an exciting new job opportunity & am moving out of the country. Coach Alex has been super helpful during this process. I appreciate that they follow their policies stated in their contract & they’ve made this transition very smooth and easy for me. I will definitely miss lifting here & know if I ever come back I’ll always have a gym home in SoCal. I will definitely make sure to update this review with my final PR’s with them before I leave. So if you’re thinking about joining SoCal Powerlifting whether you want to compete or you just want to get stronger, take this as your sign to go for it! Getting stronger is one of the most empowering things you can do for yourself, your confidence, and quality of life. You’ll be in excellent hands here.

"I've been a member of SoCal Powerlifting for only the past month, and I can't say enough about the incredible atmosphere and supportive community. The gym is perfectly equipped for powerlifting, with a variety of platforms, bars, and weights to suit all levels. But what truly sets it apart is the amazing group of people who frequent the early morning sessions.
I'm a big fan of the 4:00 AM crowd. It's a dedicated bunch of individuals who are committed to their goals and motivated to push themselves to the limit. This is a weird reason to like the place but, I noticed three small jars containing hair ties for girls to pull their hair back. Aside from the standard clean floors and well kept equipment (this should be the base standard for all gyms but sadly isn't), this is what sold me on SCPL.
No other gym has as much foresight and thoughtfulness to provide a welcoming environment for all athletes. Their focus on powerlifting is really fine tuned and well thought-out.
So glad to have been introduced to this place.

This place is great - a supportive atmosphere, friendly folks (coaches and lifters both) and the way they've set up a hybrid training program to give feedback is perfect. Pricier than your big-chain-gyms like the purple place or 24, but you also get what you pay for (and I want the regular check-ins and feedback, not a massive impersonal space that just takes my money and doesn't care. Been there, done that.) I took a 5-year hiatus from lifting/fitness and it's been slooooow to get back on track, but my trainer Tim is super encouraging and I can't wait to get back to heavy weights on the bar!
The nitty gritty deets - plenty of easy parking since it's an industrial park area (no structures or validation nonsense). Membership is a contract commitment, but it also has pricing tiers that align with your goals. It's a no-frills place (no valet service or juice bar here, because if you want Equinox that's a mile in the other direction) but it's also a twenty-four-seven location for members to work out. You want to deadlift at 3am? They've got you, boo. You need a specialty bar for your squats? They've got it. I didn't even KNOW bars came in so many shapes and sizes until signing up here a month ago. Monday afternoons at 5 are peak time, otherwise, I've never had to wait for a rack more than a minute, and there are more than enough weight plates to go around without scrounging for the one you need. (And a chart on the wall for the kilograms-to-pounds challenged like me!)
If your goal is to lift heavy with someone supportive in your corner the whole way, this is the place to be.

I was fed up with the crowds and waiting for equipment at my local commercial gym. One day, after looking for parking for 20 minutes, I got so fed up and immediately reached out to get a gym tour here the next day. At SoCal powerlifting, you not only get a gym. You get a community that supports you and encourages you to be stronger than you thought you could be.
Shoutout to my coach John. Two months ago, I physically could not squat without tipping over. With his constant advice/coaching, I'm able to confidently squat with great depth and get stronger every week.

So let me preface this by saying I was a monthly member of this gym for about two years in total. I've seen the gym go from having 10 combo racks with only four being "usable" so to speak to having all 10 combo racks being adequate.
This gym suffers from several issues, but I'll discuss some positives first.
The first positive is the location. This is basically the only Powerlifting Gym in Irvine, so if you reside in South OC, this will be your only option in a small radius.
The second positive is the abundance of equipment. Particularly, there is absolutely no issue with plates as there is more than enough for even a full house.
The third is the 24/7 access, though I will later get into why it's not exactly "24/7" for those trying to use it exclusively as a training facility.
Lastly, the parking lot is great. It's quite large, stretches far, and has no restrictions set on it.
However, it'd be remiss of me to not mention the glaring faults I've experienced.
The first is much of the equipment is not in great condition. The platforms the combo racks are on all use mats to support you/the rack/bench. The issue is these mats are all in poor condition. Walking out a heavy squat, you will feel your feet sink into the mat and it will be a terrifying experience.
The second issue is the bars, with perhaps one exception, have very little knurling. Definitely far better than any Commercial gym barbells, but not what you'd expect from a Powerlifting gym.
Third, there isn't really anywhere left to Deadlift that hasn't been worn down (due to the high foot traffic over the years). While there are two dedicated Deadlift platforms, the mats are incredibly bouncy and so it makes any Deadlift past a single rep incredibly awkward. Beyond that, you could Deadlift in front of the Cage racks. Issue there is they've seen so much wear & tear that they're incredibly uneven and Deadlifting there is a challenge.
Fourth is the "24/7" access. For those like me who already have a coach and just need a training facility, good luck training here around your school/work schedule. Hours of 4-8PM on Weekdays are closed off to you, and before 12PM on Weekends is also prohibited.
Possibly most important of all grievances on this list, the gym - and Zack in particular - is not very well receptive to criticism. I've always been quite vocal about my issues with the gym and I've been reprimanded for voicing said grievances time and time again.
To expand on that, just this weekend I was informed by Zack that I was banned for, "making others uncomfortable". Though I was polite and acquiesced to his request of never training at SoCal again (mind you, I have trained at most once a month there in the past six months now), I was inquisitive as to what exactly I did to make others uncomfortable. Unfortunately, Zack did not seem keen on informing me of what it was I did which forced me to assume several options, none of which being positive.
After waiting 24 hours for a response from Zack, I reached out with a quick follow up message in case he'd forgotten. The response I received was that he'd respectfully like to move on. When I told him there was nothing respectful about his handling of the situation and that all I wanted was a simple answer as to how I'd made others uncomfortable (an accusation I take very seriously), he decided to block me. I decided to reach out to the General Manager instead. He was able to inform me of what I did. According to him, verbatim, the issue was as such:
"Unfortunately we had a few members who have overheard some pretty negative comments from you while training here that made them uncomfortable, and one who said they would not be continuing their membership due to this."
Due to the fact that I have no desire to infringe on the privacy of these "members", I cannot say with any certainty exactly if it was me training at the gym, or my criticisms (all of which are factually true) of the gym that caused them to reconsider their membership(s) at the gym. Be advised if considering a membership.

Great gym for all levels of experience. The gym is very clean and well equipped; If you are someone who hates how people in commercial gyms just leave their weights/dumbbells lying around without ever returning/re-racking weights back to where they belong, then you'll love it here lol. Because this truly feels like a community, every one looks out for one another and cleans up after themselves. Highly recommend if you are looking to compete and want to take your training to the next level with a coach who is experienced and very responsive to your questions or concerns.

I have never had to wait for a piece of equipment, and the atmosphere is super welcoming while still giving you space to do your own thing. Coaching has helped me ramp up around an old injury that had derailed my training in the past. 24/7 access and hybrid online/in-person coaching make it easy to plan training around your own schedule. It's everything you could ask for in a gym!

I was looking for a new coach to help me prepare for my upcoming competition. After researching multiple coaches and after a friend's recommendation, I decided to reach out to SoCal Powerlifting. I have a competition coming up in May 2024. I can only speak to the coaching since I am currently in the central coast and not at the physical gym itself. When I spoke with one of the trainers, I found them to be friendly, helpful, and professional. I was assigned to Coach John. I have been working with John for a few weeks and things have been going really well. He has provided me with daily breakdowns of my lifts and helped dial in my form in ways that have not been done before. He has pointed out areas in need of improvement in my lifts and these small adjustments have helped immensely. He explains his points clearly and concisely along with why these changes are important. He provides me with a personally tailored program that is adjusted according to how the prior lifts have been going. He has been responsive to me, responding within 24 hours and answering any questions or concerns I have had. Additionally, he was open to exploring what exercises I enjoy and whether they can be incorporated while we prepare for the comp. He explored any past injuries I had so he could make any needed to the program or help me figure out ways to work with these injuries. It felt personal yet professional when working with John and that is something I value. I highly recommend reaching out to SoCal powerlifting whether you are preparing for a competition or looking to improve your overall training. They can help you and will work with you to achieve your goals!

SoCal Powerlifting is definitely the best powerlifting gym in Southern California! I originally took some time off of training with my coach here at SoCal, but within a couple months of being on my own I couldn't help but start back up!! I do the online coaching with coach Alyssa and I couldn't be happier!! I am a personal trainer myself but I find SO MUCH value in having a coach from SoCal, especially since every coach here has so much experience, shows great knowledge and passion for their craft! I've been training here for the last 6 months as an open gym member, and I love it so far. The experience is night and day compared to training at a commercial gym. This gym is primarily focused on coached athletes competing in powerlifting, so the open gym membership has one drawback - limited hours after 8pm on weekdays. However, the benefits greatly outweigh that - 24/7 access, high-end equipment (power bars, calibrated plates, SSB bars), tons of combo racks so you never have to wait, friendly and supportive members that re-rack their weights and keep the gym clean and safe, fewer crowds, and I can go on. As a powerlifting gym, it is for barbell and free-weight enthusiasts only. If you're into bodybuilding, you'll have a limited selection of fancy cables and machines, but you will have access to everything you need and more to be successful in powerlifting.

As someone who has been lifting for a while, it was time for me to try and start powerlifting. I thought I already knew how to squat, bench, and deadlift correctly, but after 3 1-hour sessions with Sebastian, I learned so many new techniques I can implement to increase my lifts and make them more efficient!
The coaching isn't the only great thing about this gym but also the equipment. They don't use the standard equipment that you would find at your local commercial gym but they have top-of-the-line equipment that makes a huge difference in your training.
After 3 short training sessions, I was already hooked on this gym and signed up right on the spot. Experienced lifter or not, I would recommend this gym to anyone.

I cannot say enough good things about SoCal Powerlifting. I was looking for a gym but I've become a SoCal Powerlifting evangelist after only a month!
I started looking for a gym that had dumbbells higher than 50lbs because I had outgrown my small association gym. I knew I didn't want a commercial gym after previous bad experiences, but the idea of a powerlifting gym was incredibly intimidating since I'd never touched a barbell in my life.
After reading all of the great reviews I figured taking a tour couldn't hurt. John was our tour guide and did a great job explaining how their gym membership works. I ended up signing up that day because something about the vibe had me sold. To be honest, I had no intention of working with a coach and looking back now I realize how incredibly foolish that would have been. Jenna has been absolutely amazing. She really knows her stuff and is great at explaining everything and answering all of my noob questions.
The gym itself has an abundance of equipment, you are never left waiting for a rack. Most importantly, all of the members are respectful of the equipment and make sure to rerack their weights. A huge plus for me is the fact that the gym is open 24 hours!
Aside from the awesome gym set up, the real selling point are the people that work at SoCal Powerlifting and the fantastic community they foster with the members. Everyone is so genuinely kind, helpful, and supportive. Even though I am completely out of my depth with this powerlifting stuff, the other members have been so gracious.
Come for the equipment and stay for the community!

I recently made the decision to step up my training environment and knew it was time to explore new gyms. SoCal powerlifting was at the top of my list. I had full intention of touring multiple gyms in the OC before committing, but never quite made it lol. What can I say? When you know, you know.
SoCal has everything you need and then some. Calibrated plates, various types of bars, multiple combo/power racks, platforms, etc. There is also a separate area with dumbbells and machines so you don’t skimp on your accessories 😉
Lastly, the vibe is everything. I’ve enjoyed meeting people and watching everyone support each other’s lifts. I love seeing people aggressively cheer for someone and then immediately switch back into work mode and crush their own lifts! Whether you opt for an in house coach or not, the staff is extremely helpful and attentive to everyone. Shoutout to Jon for facilitating my onboarding 🙌🏽 Extremely quick and smooth process.
Can’t express enough how happy I am with my decision.

If you want to train at a gym with tons of equipment, especially competition equipment, and great atmosphere and awesome people, then I recommend SoCal Powerlifting. I was about 6 weeks out from my 2nd USAPL meet, which happened to take place at SoCal Powerlifting, and I started a strength block to prepare for it. So I thought, what better way to prepare myself for the competition? The answer is to train on competition equipment where the venue is at. Duh! When I found out there was an open gym option, this was the perfect opportunity, so that I can train in the mornings before work. At first, I was a bit hesitant to train at SoCal Powerlifting, since I am used to training at home, but I do not have competition equipment. After trying out a few day passes, I was sold on doing the open gym. SoCal Powerlifting has an a lot of combo racks and other training equipment that you don't have to wait to use the equipment. Also, I have never trained regularly on competition equipment, but the people training there were super helpful and nice to show me how to adjust the combo racks. Also, the people there are willing to help and spot me on heavy squats and bench. The atmosphere and vibe are great, since everyone is supportive, super focused on training, and wants you to crush your lifts!
I would highly recommend SoCal Powerlifting for your training needs, whether or not you are preparing for a competition or just training in general. You won't regret training there.

This powerlifting focused gym is located in irvine in a business center and is 24/7 facility.
Although advertised primarily as a coaching center for powerlifters, the facility is also open to anyone, no restrictions (you do not have to opt in for coaching nor have to be competing in powerlifting meets) so all skill levels are welcome!
The facility itself has an abundance of equipment, meaning you will never catch yourself waiting for a bench, rack, or weights. The powerlifting area has rows of combo racks and squat racks, with an assortment of bars (DL, squat, safety, trap, power, etc) with loads of calibrated kilo plates, lb plates, and bumper plates. They also have fun toys such as specialty equipment like the MAG grip, black widow, arm blaster, belt squat, and more!
The socal powerlifting community itself and the powerlifters here are a delight to train alongside with. None are snobby nor egotistical, everyone here is dedicated and represents the heart of the powerlifting community.

I signed up at SoCal Powerlifting about a month ago after moving cities. I needed a gym with an elevated atmosphere from commercial gyms such as Fitness 19, LA Fitness, or 24 Hour Fitness. The facility is definitely worth the membership cost.
The gym has made my meet prep go very smoothly. With 10 competition racks, I never have to wait for an open rack. The members are all goal oriented and take the gym seriously. The gym provides more than enough plates (kgs and lbs), tripods, and clips to make your time at the gym efficient and keep you in the zone since you don't need to worry about waiting for equipment.
Great experience at SoCal Powerlifting!

I live in LA but I recently started working in Santa Ana. I was looking for a local gym when I came across SoCal Powerlifting in Irvine. What caught my attention was that it had plenty of free weighs, bars, squat racks, etc. I stopped by the gym one day after work and met Alex Gaynor. He gave me a tour of the gym and provided some information regarding pricing and coaching. A few days later I scheduled my lift evaluations with Jaden Codorniz, who is now my coach.
It was obvious for me from the get go that Alex, Jaden, and everyone at SoCal Powerlifting are passionate about what they do and take it very seriously. I had never joined a gym like that and figured I would give it a shot. Although I have only been going there for a couple weeks I am very happy I joined and look forward to improving my lifting technique and strength along the way.
If you’re looking for a gym that is serious about what they do, this is it.

This place is awesome! You have all the equipment you need to succeed. Coach Juan gets down with training and he’s very detailed with great feedback. I told him I avoid RDLs because of lower back pain, but he showed me a few tweaks on my form and now it went away. Awesome gym with an awesome staff

I was struggling to find a gym that I felt comfortable at and was also open 24/7. I heard about SoCal Powerlifting and stopped in to check it out. From that day on, I have loved it! I have never been a part of a gym with such a strong and welcoming culture. It is very clean and everyone puts their plates and bars/dumbells up. Right now I’m not getting coached but in the future I will be considering it.
Again, incredible gym for very experienced to beginners. There is zero judgement and just encouragement.

I’ve been going to this gym for almost 6 months and my overall gym knowledge and physique has improved! Coach Alyssa is my favorite! Not just because she’s my coach but she really try’s to answer all my silly questions and is very patient with me! Along with all the coaches I’ve interacted with at the gym! Being one of the smaller gym member here I don’t feel so small, everyone is very welcoming and helpful! Worth every coin I’m spending! (:

At first it seemed intimidating just because I haven't touched a powerlifting gym at all but everyone here is so friendly and helpful!
My coach Jenna is so helpful and gives so many tips! I've been doing the main lifts on my own and wanted to push myself further and properly, that's why I decided to switch to this niche specific gym. Jenna has been such great help and I've learned a lot more things than I ever could have on my own!!

I popped in on a workday unannounced and Alyssa was so nice to show me around and answer all of my questions. Being a power-lifting focused gym they had more than enough racks and equipment to use, ample room to navigate around, and love that they play good music. Everyone working out was focused on their lifts, but there was a very positive and friendly vibe as the majority of the people there seemed to know each other.
After leaving I returned the same day with my girlfriend to meet with Alex the General Manager to go over their membership packages etc.. Again, Alex was super nice and welcoming and very helpful explaining their coaching style, the different and very affordable membership tiers, and just giving a little more insight about the facility.
Alex had set my girlfriend and I up with a few assessment sessions with different coaches. The past week I did 4 sessions with Jaden who is very welcoming and nice (I feel like I'm repeating myself lol), extremely knowledgeable with the lifts, very patient with me, and very helpful as he takes into account any past or current injuries. He started every session showing warm-ups that would help for the day's workout and also exercises I could do to strengthen any weaknesses to help better protect my previously injured areas. He gives very good critique and insight to what I'm doing wrong, how to fix it, and positive reinforcement when I do the lift well.
I haven't been here too too long, but I'm super stoked to be a part of this gym and excited to grow with the help of Jaden and the rest of the SoCal Powerlifting staff and fam!

Jenna knows what she does!
Jenna is my coach at SoCal Powerlifting. She definitely knows what she is doing, in only 3 weeks I have noticed a difference not only in my body shape but also in my strength. I'm definitely gaining muscle. I am a beginner and Jenna has been so patient with me, I really love that, and her positive comments. I feel really good coming to the gym. I like that it is open 24/7. I like the personalized sessions, Jenna is so professional.
The staff is also really nice and polite.

I'm really glad I found SoCal Powerlifting. The facility is clean, well equipped, and you never have to wait to use a rack or bench like other gyms. I also really enjoyed working with my coach (Mike) there. He is attentive to details and made sure that I built my lifting forms correctly from the ground up step by step. I travel a lot for work so their online training plan works great for me where I would meet with my coach once a month, after the initial assessment trainings. Also helps that the gym is 24/7 with membership if you have a busy work schedule. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a great place to train.

Absolutely adore it. The workout programs are impeccable, the people here are extremely amicable and helpful to the max. The facilities are perfect, even when it's very crowded you never have to wait long if at all for an open machine, bench, or squat rack. I fully and wholly recommend not just to powerlifters but to anyone looking for a top quality gym experience.

I would do day passes at SoCal every now and then but I finally became a member last month after moving to Irvine and I’m SO glad I did. With Alex Bustamante as my coach, I’ve learned so much about powerlifting in the first month alone and have completely changed my form on all of my lifts. Everyone at the gym is great and easy to talk to and always there to give you lifting advice when you need it. Definitely a gym you can call home.

Love the atmosphere of the gym! All of the staff is easy to work with and provide excellent coaching. I've been powerlifting for a few years now and have always been self coached. Having SoCal Powerlifting has already made an improvement to my outlook on training and my lifts. The facility itself has all of the equipment you could want and it is all high quality. Very easy to get in and out, all automated sign up for drop in. Plenty of excellent powerlifting equipment, from specialty barbells to competition racks and platforms. Also a really well equipped bodybuilding type room with all the stuff you need. Great atmosphere, friendly members, clean. No locker room, but that’s not what you come here for! Will return next time I’m in town.

I would say this is the greatest gym in the world but that's an understatement and its more than a gym. So Cal Powerlifting is an amazing community of great people. From the time I joined every employee and member has been kind and helpful in everyway. The equipment is perfect and they offer a nice drink and snack selection. They also use a very cool phone app to open the door 24/7 so you can always get a workout in. I can't recommend this gym enough for anyone looking to join a great gym and community!!!

I can't say enough good things about SoCal Powerlifting - management, coaches, and clients are all top notch. I've been coached by Shelby for 2 months now and I am writing this review just 4 days after my very first powerlifting meet. Prior to SoCal, I was an a cookie cutter online PL program for 6 months - I upped my strength, but my form was mediocre. After finding SoCal Powerlifting I decided to invest in myself and my goals and I am so grateful I made the jump! Having a coach actively provide feedback on my form was a game changer and allowed me to crush PRs and have a 9/9 first meet. I'm primarily remote, but when I do go into the gym everyone is SO helpful and encouraging. I love the SoCal Powerlifting family and I can't wait to see where I am a year from now!!

Without a doubt, one of the best powerlifting gyms out there. I can wholeheartedly say that this gym provides everything needed to progress within the sport. Plenty of high quality equipment, great community of supportive lifters who are always willing to offer a spot or words of encouragement. SoCal has managed to run this facility at a high level throughout a pandemic which left many other gyms struggling. A testament to their incredible competency and togetherness. Can’t say I have anything negative to say about this gym as I’ve trained here for almost a year and a half. Keep expanding and growing as one of the top powerlifting gyms around!
