Review for SoCal Fitness – Westchester, CA
I’ve been with SoCal Fitness since it first opened as a small studio, and it’s been a life-changing journey. At 26, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, which later turned out to be Hashimoto’s thyroid disease, along with arthritis in my joints. Despite these challenges, the incredible trainers at SoCal—especially Jeff Blair and Rob—helped me build a strong, balanced, and pain-free body.
With their expertise and support, I’ve been able to live an active and independent life for over 20 years now. Their knowledge, patience, and dedication go far beyond just fitness—they truly care about your health and long-term well-being.
A huge thank you to Jeff, Rob, and Carisa for being such an important part of my journey. SoCal Fitness isn’t just a gym—it’s a place where lives are transformed.

I have been going to gyms for the last twenty five years. By far the best experience and results have been with SoCalSport and Fitness. The team of Jeff, Rob, and Carisa have more experience and knowledge than elsewhere I've been. I have now been there for ten years.
The gym is clean and well-equipped. During the pandemic they made sure their clients always felt safe and found smart ways to keep working out (who knew rooftop sessions were even possible?).
The staff is friendly and professional. Rob has an encyclopedic knowledge of anatomy and how muscle works. Jeff has the patience of an experienced teacher. And Carisa is the world's best warmup coach and record keeper (not to mention decorator).
The studio was recently voted Best in the Westchester and Playa area and I thought I should let others know why I voted for them.
The value for the price is great. I think SoCalSport and Fitness is a great gym for anyone who is looking to improve their fitness and wellbeing.

Almost 3 years ago I started with Rob as my trainer . At my 56 years old I didn’t feel confident that I could achieve my main goal which was to lose weight and gain strength. Today , from my 157 Lb, I dropped to 132 and after 29 years of taking blood pressure medicine, my cardiologist took me off the medication. I don’t have enough words to thank you Rob , because your professionalism has brought me here . I feel in the best stage of my life .

If you’re looking to get individualized training and also feel part of a fitness community, look no further! SoCalSport gives you a custom exercise program in a fun and non-intimidating environment. The atmosphere here is very much the opposite of gym bro culture. It’s just fun, everyday folk with a variety of fitness levels doing their thing and having a good time! The staff is so focused on the client experience and go to great lengths to make you feel special and included all while giving a great workout! It really is a diamond in the rough.

Jeff and Rob are both great at putting together a routine that lets me work toward my goals and also guiding me on the most effective way to complete the exercises. Carisa helps adjust my schedule and other details when needed. I now have muscles in spots where I never had muscles before, as far as I could tell.

I have been going to SoCal for 6 months and it’s been an absolute pleasure. The team is incredibly positive. Rob is always pushing me in new ways to strength train but always conscious of my knee and shoulder injuries. The entire staff here has been phenomenal during COVID, keeping everyone safe and healthy. They genuinely care about your wellness and it shows. I would recommend this crew to anyone whether you are brand new and hoping to get fit or a veteran weight lifter / athlete. They have something for everyone!

Joining SoCal Sport & Fitness was one of the best decisions I have ever made. These guys get it! After 3 months I feel so much stronger. If you are looking for knowledgable trainers who listen to you and your needs, this is the place. And it is a lot of fun too!

Joining SoCalSport was worth every penny. The trainers there are extremely knowledgeable about fitness, and they’ve created a space with an amazingly energizing vibe where not only do they guide you through your workout with proper form, they keep you motivated out in the real world. Working with owner/trainer Rob Savory, I increased my chest press ability by about 300% in the span of just a few months. When they encouraged me to take up running, which I’d never done before, trainer Jeff Blair ran with me every step of the way for my first 5K. I’d recommend SoCalSport to anyone in the area who wants to improve their health and lifestyle.

I am married and my wife Lynne recently gave birth to our fifth child. I work as a composer and own two businesses involving music. My schedule stays full almost all the time.
I have tried a number of the most popular workout DVDs and had some success with them. I feel much better able to deal with the stress of work and family commitments when I exercise consistently.
My biggest problem through the years has been consistency. I tend to be either 100% committed or 0% committed to fitness. I can do real well for a couple of months and then I tend to drop off completely.
I got very tired of the inconsistency of the “all or nothing” approach. I wanted to start something I could maintain because it helps me so much. I just had to figure out how to keep it going longer than a couple of months.
About 13 months ago, I started working out at the SoCalSport and Fitness studio and it has changed my life for the better. I love the workouts there because they are well planned. They really put a lot of thought into individualizing the workouts in a way that best suits you.
The workouts are challenging but they are not trying to bury you. They tailor things to your level and they are always concerned about you and how you are doing.
For me, I think it is key to approach working out with a long-term perspective. I wasn’t interested in doing some workout that was going to burn me out and push me to my absolute limits in 30 days. I have done enough of that in the past.
Sustainability and consistency are what I was looking for and I have found that with SoCal. I have now been working out consistently for 13 months and I couldn’t be happier about that. As a result, I have gotten in the best shape of my life at age 37 -with five kids and two businesses! My strength is definitely higher than it has ever been. In the past, I tended to neglect my leg workouts a bit but now my legs are stronger than they have ever been.
My wife has also noticed changes in my physique. I am also doing much better with the challenges of being Dad to my kids.
I am happy that I am setting a good example for my kids. They know Dad goes to the gym and so they want to know what that is all about. We usually end up doing some mini-workouts together. We do pushups, planks and some bodyweight squats. It is pretty fun!
If you are on the fence about starting, there is never going to a perfect time when all the ducks are in a row to start. The timing will never be perfect. Just take the leap-that is what I did. I just walked in one day and said I was ready to start.

Busy is the new normal these days and unless I had a scheduled workout I could never "find the time". What I love about working out at SoCal is that the trainers offer customized individual workouts in a group setting with knowledgeable trainers who push you and motivate you clients to be your best. I have seen great results with my strength and weightloss - with their help and guidance. As an added bonus they have built a great community around working out and offer social events and even cardio groups. I am still busy but know I don't have to "find the time: to workout because it is built into my week. Jeff, Rob, Carissa and Adrian care about their clients and have a program that shows real results!

I was looking for a way to switch up my workouts. I was about 20 lbs overweight and needed some help. Jeff Blair at SoCal Sport & Fitness told me that it was possible he could get me "in the best shape of my life". I thought, yea right, I bet that's what he says to everyone to get them to sign on. But Jeff and his crew were serious. And I was serious too. After about a year of training 2 to 3 times a week with him and adjusting the way I ate, I built more muscle mass, got more balanced/flexible, strengthened my back and core and wound up losing close to 25 lbs in the process! Not only that, I was able to run my first marathon and now I'm training for my second. I'm even featured in this month's Men's Health Magazine! Thanks to Jeff, even after a year or so, I've kept up the muscle, kept off the weight and I honestly am in the best shape of my life.
