SOMA is a jewel! Incredible experience. Space itself is very welcoming, clean and with a beautiful ambience. Instructors are knowledgeable, experienced and dedicated to sharing the yogic practice with their students. I was able to attend Brandon and Alexander's classes, both providing exceptional offerings. Highly encourage treating yourself and checking out what this space has to offer!

I just tried Soma for the first time and it was really great! I did a vinyasa class with Sophie and it was a great combination of stretching and strength training. The owner Ariel was also very nice and gracious with my first class. Looking forward to going back!

I just started going to Soma Yoga and it has been a breath of fresh air. It's so nice to walk into a studio and genuinely feel calmer and comfortable. All of the instructors have been very welcoming and the classes have been exactly what I've been looking for. It feels more personable and it's so well done! Highly recommend.

Sōma is an incredible space. The studio is calming, the teachers are thoughtful, and the flows are both energizing and grounding. You can tell the owners work hard to create not just great classes, but also a community where everyone feels a sense of belonging. I am so grateful to have found this place!

Discovered this place through classpass! Really enjoyed the experience and I’m definitely coming back again. I prefer this over places like yoga box because it’s not unrealistically fast paced. It’s just enough. They also really care about fostering a relaxing comfortable environment and they gave us cold lavender infused towels at the end of the session which was SO refreshing after sweating my ass off lolll. Can’t wait to come in again ☺️

This studio is so welcoming and aesthetic! The lobby area and main room are so well decorated and spacious. Attended my first class &Will definitely be back! Natalie is a wonderful instructor who always keeps her flows exciting with challenging but fun sequences. She always has such an encouraging attitude, and makes me feel very comfortable practicing new poses, as I become more confident implementing yoga into my workout routine. Scheduled puppy yoga for me and my group for my bachelorette weekend. Cute studio but I’d definitely be careful booking larger groups. I talked to the staff and booked my group months/almost a year in advance and thought everything would be okay but when we showed up the class was extremely overbooked. Me and my group were crammed into a corner and split up from each other. Wish I would have known it would be like that so I could have looked into booking a more private experience. Cute pups though

I love Spirit Yoga! It’s a beautiful studio with a great vibe and the instructors are amazing. Just had my second class with Dom and he is an absolutely incredible instructor. He is super knowledgeable and passionate about yoga and his wonderful energy radiates through the class. I feel rejuvenated and strong. I also love that he incorporates a lot of different breathing techniques. Oh, and his choice of music is perfect! Highly recommend!

I’ve been coming to Spirit Yoga for about a year now - initially via Class Pass but now, I am a monthly unlimited member. I love the variety of classes offered here and the integration of breath work, meditation, and sound baths into several of them. The instructors are so kind and talented - no class is the same and they always provide multiple options for any given pose! The level 2 classes are appropriately challenging - I am definitely getting stronger! I enjoy the ambience of the studio and the provision of various props (for free) if you forget something.

Tried going for 1st time today, no parking for blocks and blocks. Took me 15 minutes to find parking and run up to the door 2 minutes late and it’s locked. Understand that it’s disruptive to have people enter class late, but given where this studio is and the logistical challenges of getting there, being strict with this policy is just not reasonable. This literally ruined my entire day.

Came here for my first class back in a studio since the lockdown and I’m so glad I did! I was so impressed by Courtney’s class, it was just a perfectly balanced vinyasa/fusion flow. I hadn’t been to a class in so long I forgot to bring a mat, (they don’t rent them) and she immediately offered to let me borrow hers. I've called Spirit my home yoga studio for years -- and though I travel and practice around the world, I'm always happy to step through its doors in Pacific Beach and drop in for wonderful flows and great energy. Some of my favorite yoga teachers in San Diego gift their voice within, and offer YTT programs to grow the next generation of spirit builders.

Returning after a break during the onset of Covid has rekindled much yogic joy in my mind & body. Spirit has adapted well to the needs of the community with safety measures that still allow for a healthy & enjoyable practice. Lately I've been relishing the 330pm Tuesday/Thursday classes with Sarah Mondet. A $5 community class, the 330pm timeslots are often given to newly minted yoga teachers honing their flows, pace, and playlists. Sarah's class has been an absolute joy, due to both her burgeoning powers as a teacher and also an inner light that cannot help but shine through to studio's practitioners. She's a fantastic testament to the Spirit YTT program and I look forward to every class (especially as a break while remote working!). I can't wait for more of her flows and to revisit some of San Diego's best teachers at the studio in the weeks ahead. Go grab a mat and make your way to Spirit!

I have visited many of San Diego city's yoga studies, there is something special about Spirit that keeps bringing me back. Downsides: Sometimes the room is a little warm (for an all levels class), their instructors bring a wide variety of styles, classes can be packed. Upsides: consistently high quality of instruction, facility is simple, clean, and well maintained, if you go once or twice a week - you will get stronger, low key with great vibes.

I love that each time you take a class the flow and poses are different so you don’t get stuck in a rut and it keeps you focused. Threaten to be punch and asked to leave because I was using the block to stretch and instead of just laying flat! I thought yoga was a free practice as long as we are respectful to others, not if you are in SPITIT YOGA studio and class is tough by JONATHAN OLD! You are only allowed to do what he say otherwise he will ask you to leave the class you have just pay for! He littler tried to grab my arm and told me to leave!

I came to the class, put my mat down and the JONATHAN OLD/ teacher comes to me tries to grab my arm ( I moved) and told me that he will punch me in the face if my phone rings ( my phone was off, and I politely said that), he said it in the front of entire class! Unbelievable ! The worst experience ever! Then beginning of the class, we are laying on our backs, i put a block under my shoulders, he comes to me and said that I need to remove the block, I politely answered that I am stretching, he said that if I don't do it he will ignore me through the class. As class go on we are in the last stage of the class, he asked me to leave as I am not laying done steel ( I was laying down on my back crossing my legs over, not interrupting anybody). He said that this is not allowed!!!

I can't say enough good things about Spirit..

I first heard about Spirit through Steve from Ocean Front yoga on Law Street and I'm so glad I checked it out. Spirit has just about everything you could look for in a yoga studio. They take into consideration all five senses from sight, sound, smell, touch and even taste (they have a detox and "re-tox" night!)

As an interior designer things like how a space makes you feel is really important... especially when you pick a studio. Oh and whenever you arrive, they always have a smile and hug ready for ya! It's a really awesome community to be a part of! Don't forget to check out Paddle board yoga it should be AWESOME!

I've been going to Spirit 3-4 times per week for over 6 months and I love it. It's a beautiful, welcoming studio that's always clean and well-taken care of. There's a good variety of classes, from challenging Vinyasa 2/3 to relaxing yin yoga, and the blacklight yoga class is a fun change too. The studio is very aptly named, because it definitely has spirit and soul. Personally, I think it's a welcome contrast to corporate yoga-factory chains. What really sets it apart for me is that the people at Spirit -- whether it's the owners, teachers, or fellow classmates -- are consistently and genuinely kind, friendly and warm. There's none of the ego, competition, or over-the-top manufactured spirituality that seems to creep into some of the yoga community. I'm a personal trainer and I LOVE the fact that I can bring clients with me to yoga classes at Spirit, and I can be confident that they won't ever feel intimidated, out-of-place, or unwelcome. This studio truly is a little gem.
