Really enjoyed their new workout room. New equipment and how easy they make it for people that are nationwide to go. When I visit my mom in town I like to go to this gym.

I have always been greeted when arriving and leaving. Staff checks often that everything is in order. And Paty gives super awesome classes and I can say that as I have attended about a years of.

Not enough shallow water aerobic classes for seniors. Only 7:30 a.m. MW. Music too loud when those classes are over and you are trying to do your own routine. Spa closed Fridays for most of day.

I wanted to write a review because I had bad service here twice. Actually three times a few years ago my mom and I had been turned away just for the way that we looked. I'm not sure if they thought we were poor or what it was, but we were turned away and treated really rudely. But even in this last week we thought about restarting our membership cuz we have another local Y but the pool is out of service at this time and I've tried twice to contact this Y instead on two different days about four phone calls later. Still no answering of the phones. Even if I call on a busy time or a non-busy time. I either get put on hold the first time I got sent to voicemail several times the second time on a different day which was today. I called the first time and I waited a while before they finally picked up the phone to tell me to wait longer and then I waited about 7 minutes before I hung up. I called again the second time. They made me wait about 5 minutes then sent me to voicemail and then the third time I called today they made me wait about 3 or 4 minutes before telling me to hold again when I explain to the woman that I had already waited 6 to 10 minutes the last time she put me on hold she proceeded to tell me how there was a client in front of her that she was still helping and how that person was there in person so they were more important than I was. I don't know who this woman is. All I know is that she needs to learn a few things about customer service. I've been in the industry for almost 20 years for customer service. Everything from food and beverage to personal training to theme parks. Everything you could think of and just for that, she's convinced me well enough to cancel my membership so I appreciate her whoever she is. Please know that I'm really grateful for you. I don't want to be part of a membership that treats people this way, especially because I think everybody's equal and I know for a fact I've worked in other jobs that were way higher class and there's a time limit a person is supposed to wait on hold on the phone and there's procedures for all these things. So if you're struggling and you need help, that's maybe something you need to talk to your boss about, but you should learn a few things about how to treat a customer. Never going here again. Have a beautiful day. God bless.

The staffing is constantly changing. This location of YMCA has helped me cope with personal loss through friendship, exercise and growth. No complaints except other than keep religion out it. The manager Christian talks a lot about Jesu but doesn't acknowledge the others... "God". The showers could be cleaner! The lifeguards could be friendlier. I quit here yesterday after 10 months. It's a good place but just don't get too friendly or close with management! 24Hours and L. A. Fitness have better hours...
Overall 3.5/5 stars from me.

We are so fortunate to have the Southbay YMCA! All of the staff is incredible and the vibe there is always positive and very customer service friendly!
Christian Varner is running an awesome sports program that is so enjoyable for our 4 year old boy who has participated both in T-ball and soccer. Fabian was Matheoβs previous soccer coach and David Vargas is now his T-ball coach. Both are excellent!! Also, Daniel Carreon is a key part of the team there and always ready to help as is the whole staff there.
Along with the great facilities and staff, the supplemental sports programs that they offer are unbelievably awesome and I hope that they continue well into the future.
Thanks so much South Bay YMCA. We are fortunate to have you!!
Dave, Dulce and Matheo:)

I recently moved to Chula Vista and wanted to call to inquire about swimming lessons for my child. I called multiple days and times last week, as well as this week, and nobody answers the phone. After waiting 10 min you would think someone would answer.
I frequent many ymca locations in the county, also call them frequently to ask questions and never had a problem with any other location answering the phone.
Perhaps they donβt have front desk staff to answer the phone.
I will not be attending this location.

It seems like the pool here is frequently inaccessible.
I've shown up 3 times in the last few months and the lap pool is closed for whatever reason...
Not sure what the problem is at this Y...

The people who work here do not have neurodiverse training. I came here with my autistic son and he was having a small meltdown over waiting to get checked in. He made his way in the hall by the pool door and wouldnβt let me get him back to the front desk. So I filled out the waiver in the hallway by the pool entrance with him. I needed to go back to the front desk to ask if we were good to swim. So I left him there for a moment and in that moment a woman came out and let my son out into the pool area. I had to run down the hall and get him back inside. He sat down at the bench and waited. Then one of the workers asked the other if we were good to go because she saw what happened. But all of this could have been prevented if the workers here were neurodiverse trained. All it would have took was for one of the 4 people behind the desk to come out and assist me. There was one person doing all the customer service and others sitting or standing around. And no one cared that I was having trouble. Also, there are a lot of rules here with no proper direction. No one told me where the locker room was. We get out to the pool and someone tells me the pool my son is about to get in is closed and we have to swim in the other pool. We get in the other pool and the someone in there tells me this part of the pool is just for lessons. We finally make it to the right spot, but then there is a jacuzzi next to it. My son loves jacuzziβs and gets in them to warm up, but the one here is 13 and up. So it was a struggle to keep him out of it and we ended up having to leave because he couldnβt be in it. It was a major struggle to swim at this place. And we wonβt be back which sad because we own a house just a few blocks from here. This place needs neurodiverse training bad.

America and Alex at the front are very rude. Alex was very passive aggressive and then America who wasnβt even apart of our conversation proceeded to say something rude to us and put in her two cents. The aggressiveness and comments are unnecessary and rude.

Been member since 2019,loved it but after COVID even its over now they keep it closed on Sundays, child watch is only few hours a day and only 4 days a week.
I emailed their San Diego corporate office they didn't even reply back.
Thinking about cancelling my membership and go somewhere open 7 days a week.

My son and I love it here, however its frustrating to pay a monthly fee for a child watch that isnβt a guarantee. Weβve been put on a waiting list multiple times upon arrival. Imagine arriving with pre workout in your system ready to crush it and this happening. Not fun. It would be great if we could get more staff on the child watch so that parents like I donβt have to keep wasting valuable time.
Thank you in advance!

Lovely place. My wife has a membership and I visited as a guest. Let's break this up.
Childcare: They have a childcare center for our little one and he loves going. Even when I don't go to the gym with my wife, he wants to go with her so he can go to the daycare to hang out. He LOVES IT. They have a great staff and they keep him entertained the whole time.
Cardio: They have plenty of cardio machines. The TV signal does not work on all of them, even the basic channels. I was trying to watch local Fox for the TNF NFL game and it was so static, I couldn't see anything. Luckily the game is on Amazon Prime so I could watch on my phone.
Weights: Great weight section. The overall gym is not the biggest so a lot of their equipment is close together. Most people that want to work out are not going to impede on your space while lifting but there are some people who will still get TOO close while lifting. Just something to think about.
Programs: The programs they have for the kids are amazing. The kids love this place. They go to the gym to do cardio and also love to go for any of the sports programs they have. It is definitely a bonus to be a member if the kids are going to be attending any classes.
Overall this gym is probably one of the best in the area if you have a family. If my kids and wife didn't want to go to the gym, I would look at something else that was cheaper and maybe bigger BUT with the FAMILY wanting to go to the gym, this is a TOP choice for us.

I like it but had to give 3 stars because they need to work on things. They need to start having cash on hand because having exact change is not possible all of the time and maybe some sensitive training for the customer service kind of has attitudes. Also new shower curtains and bleach floor would be nice. We have a family room No Boys over 4 should be in the girls. Locker room and in the showers. The girls can't come out because there are older boys walking around. I tell the staff but it is still happening. It's not right

Awesome pool, great staff and instruction. People please teach your kids to swim it will save their life. All of my kids have learned to swim here. We even go back periodically for advanced lessons . Start with the learn to swim get your kids a foundation take a break from lessons and when they grow take them back for the advanced lessons. All of the instructors and staff are great people
Support your YMCA don't go to a high dollar franchise place. This place has all.you could ever need and remember for every class you take we are keeping the facility open as well as for those who pay full price you are also helping to give a discount to those who might not be able to pay full price via a scholarship . The y is life changing for kids and will build skills that will last a lifetime.

It would be nice if the front desk people were more mature and realized we were in to swim, not take 30 minutes just to sign us in. We actually did NOT swim and just went home, because it took so long and once we got to the pool and found out there are no towels here- you have to bring your own, unlike our home YMCA and no one checking us in chose to tell us in alllll that time. I haven't been back since. Unbelievable.

This complex is quite nice compared to other YMCA locations. The equipment is semi-new but has QR codes that can be scanned for videos that link up to proper workout routines. There are 2 independent workout rooms that you can workout in with mats. I haven't checkout the pool but I know that there are water exercise schedules and lifeguards are always on duty.

Super disappointed with staff, lifegaurds, and day camp counselors. Staff at the ymca front desk are extremely rude and are quick to have an attitude when asked a question. Lifegaurds are unapproachable and constantly scream rules at the kids and tell parents to move but there's limited seating so where do we go???? Day camp staff seem friendly enough but my child had a couple incidents happen that, had he not have blurted it out at first sight of me I wouldn't have been notified i.e. being pushed in the mud by another child. Also it's Monday according to my son he fell and hit his head on concrete this past Friday again where is the notification???? Awful practices.....
