I had a week pass for a reasonable $89 for my visit to Palm Springs. The gym is huge and has tons of equipment and free weights and cardio machines . The staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly and the other clients are also friendly (which is a bonus) . Can't wait to visit Palm Springs again and come back .

I've resided in the valley since 1991. I was at world gym when it first opened. I recently rejoined. So far it's been great. Good machines, clean, cool staff. I like to work out early(5am) and always encounter a friendly crowd. Thanks Steel gym!

$23 for a daily pass. As soon as you walk in, the gym smells like an unwashed 🍑

Lots of machines, but mostly clunky and outdated. It wasn’t too crowded. Weekly passes were around $80.

The bathroom/sauna/locker room area is really awkward and cruisy.

I don’t love it or hate it, but I would not spend $23 to work out here again. Can’t recommend. Just go for a jog or something.

I think that this gym is one of very few "real" gyms in Coachella Valley. It is a local gym owned by people who care about the community. Machines are great and up to date. Unlike at other gyms, bathrooms are always clean and pleasant to use (if that matters!) Staff is friendly.

I used the gym (guest pass) while visiting Palm Springs for several days. Overall the space is large with lots of weights/machines (never waited for anyone), and they have a protein smoothie bar inside as well. It provided what I needed for those days, but some machines are in need of maintenance.

Steel Gym is the best gym in Palm Springs for gay men. The main room is clean, not loud, plates and weights are put in place (unlike eos). I never have to wait as there is plenty for each muscle group. Most of the members are 50+, but there are some younger men and women. No pool, no spa, but segregated steam and sauna.

Unbelievably great gym! I'm from Portland OR so I'm bummed that it's not in Portland. The equipment is amazing and well maintained. At one point I was looking for a piece of equipment and I asked a member and they were super nice. Seems like people knew each other and were rooting each other on. motivation Is everywhere just look at the wall, awesome posters. I really think you can judge a gym by how high the dumbbells go their's goes up to 150. They have a protein shake bar! If there were more stars I'd give it more. If you're on vacation like me in palm springs you got to check this place out. It reminds me of the mecca.

If you looking for gym to exercise DO NOT Come Here It’s not worth the $550 a year, place is dirty old matching (( like really old it’s made by welding metal )) always broken and if you talk to the front they will say the Owner don’t care we can’t help with anything, hazard cable everywhere, and fans because the AC not cooling. Watch the video and see how the machine is squeaking never been maintain , and sometimes they turn most of the light off to save on energy . so if you’re looking for a place to exercise forget about this place and find another place.

I recently visited World Gym to work out, and while there were some positive aspects, there were also some significant drawbacks that left me feeling quite conflicted about my experience there.

Starting with the positives, I must say that the gym's air conditioning was exceptional. With the intensity of the workouts, it was a relief to have a comfortable environment to exercise in. Additionally, the presence of multiple TVs throughout the gym provided some entertainment and distraction during my workouts, which was a nice touch. Furthermore, it was heartening to see friendly and supportive people working out alongside me, creating a welcoming atmosphere for new members.

However, my overall impression was dampened by several disheartening experiences. First and foremost, the rude behavior of some staff members was a significant concern. As a customer, I expect to be treated with respect and courtesy, and unfortunately, this was not consistently the case during my visit. Rude staff can create a negative atmosphere and impact one's motivation to return to the gym.

Another serious concern was the gym's apparent lack of LGBTQ+ friendliness. I am deeply saddened to hear about your transgender daughter being singled out. Discrimination and intolerance have no place in any establishment, especially not in a gym, which should be an inclusive and safe space for everyone. It is crucial for gyms to foster an environment of acceptance and diversity, where all individuals can feel comfortable and free from judgment.

Additionally, cleanliness is paramount in a gym setting, considering the high foot traffic and shared equipment. Unfortunately, it appears that World Gym fell short in this regard as well. A clean and well-maintained gym is not only essential for health and hygiene but also contributes to an overall positive workout experience.

Despite these drawbacks, I can understand your hesitation in giving the gym a second chance. It is commendable that you are willing to consider this option, hoping that your daughter can have a more positive experience in the future. I would encourage you to share your concerns directly with the gym management so that they can be made aware of the issues and have an opportunity to address them.

In conclusion, World Gym showed promise with its excellent AC, entertainment options, and friendly members. However, the negative experiences with rude staff, lack of LGBTQ+ friendliness, and cleanliness issues were deeply concerning. I hope that by expressing your concerns, the gym can take steps towards becoming a more inclusive and welcoming place for all members, including your transgender daughter.

This gym has the potential to be a bodybuilding mecca, like Golds Venice Beach. Instead, the owners severely neglect it, leaving equipment broken for months on end (sometimes surpassing a year). They also own the testosterone clinic next door, which is their real cash cow, so they don't care to maintain nor invest in World Gym, even though the membership is $50 a month. Today a customer lost consciousness from an apparent heart issue, and when good Samaritans tried to resuscitate him, they couldn't because the gym's AED device had expired in 2017 (picture attached). Thank god he lived -- but at no help from the owners of World Gym.

After being with the gym for almost 10 months, it’s time to say goodbye. Sadly it wasn’t really a pleasant experience despite the fact that most of the staff is friendly and helpful. Occasionally you’ll see one or two unfriendly muscle bears who think they are superior to everyone. But that’s everywhere you go, right?

The issues with the gym are pretty much the same as what other low rating reviews have stated: Old broken equipment, dingy facility, non functional ACs, and persistent moldy sweaty smell in the locker room. On top of those, some really rude trainers who lead group classes. Particularly this one tall bald muscle Mary, who raged out at me because I walked into a “group session” mistakenly when I was looking for a spin bike. Side note, there were none on the gym floor, they were all in the “group fitness room”. I apologized to the trainer and said sorry I didn’t know I couldn’t be there because of the class. He threw a tantrum and hissed “well it’s posted on the door”. I was like, dude chill out, I will just walk out.

He could’ve been more polite but who knows, maybe he hates his job.

Otherwise, it can be hard to find parking during peak hours. Oh and be careful to open your car door when it’s windy because you could easily park next to a Lamborghini or a Bentley.

My partner and I "wintered" for a month in Palm Springs and I chose to get my workout fix at World Gym and was so glad I did. The guys that work there are incredible and super friendly. I signed up for a monthly membership and they made me feel like a true local.

The clientele is very friendly as well. It's not a fancy gym but I went in, did my thing, and headed back home. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Palm Springs. Thanks to Steven and all the rest of the guys at the front desk!

I feel like I have to leave a review after seeing some of the lower star reviews recently.

Gym was clean. Staff was friendly. There were a couple machines that were down, however there were other similar ones available. It’s not like every leg curl was broken. I imagine there isn’t a gym equipment company near by to fix it so it probably takes awhile to get fixed. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, they couple try to fix it themselves and someone could end up injured.

The equipment is older. It’s also some of the highest desired equipment by collectors and fitness enthusiasts. It’s some of the best equipment you can find. Nautilus XPLODE row, chest and shoulder press with a lot of Icarian and Hammer Strength as well, with an Icarian standing side lateral. Decent amount of free weights and benches as well.

I’m from Ohio, workout at a lot of gyms across the country and this one had some of the best old school equipment you can find.

After more than 6 months at this gym and an initial review of 4 stars, I have to downgrade it to 2 stars. As others have recently noted, the gym is very run down. It increasingly looks and feels dingy; the AC barely works; things are constantly broken. For example, for most of the past few months, literally half of the private shower stalls were taped off for some kind of repair. Eventually one by one, each re-opened months later. Now the opposite side (all 3) are closed. The steam-room breaks every few days. Many of the plates on gym equipment stick or are unlabeled. It's sad. There just isn't enough competition (yet) from other gyms for the ownership to do anything about it. More and more small training studios are opening and I suspect some membership with leave for smaller more modern gyms. I really wish they'd invest some money. As I previously said, I'd gladly pay a little more each month for some improvement.

ORIGINAL REVIEW APRIL 2022:Have I been to nicer, fancier gyms? Sure? But World Gym gets the job done. The equipment isn't as bad as some make it out to be: they have Nautilus, Cybex, and an assortment of free weights of course. Most function well, though, sure, a gradual upgrade would be nice. The staff are consistently very friendly and helpful, and one of the reasons for my 4-star review.

I would gladly pay a little more for a few details that would make the experience that much better: replace the towels more frequently (they are often pretty worn and often run out) and please run the AC at a lower temp. Today it was 90 outside when I arrived and the front door was open with the AC off. It gets pretty hot and stuffy in there. Otherwise, it's great.

The staff was always friendly and professional with me. Most of the patrons were pretty friendly. You'd run into the occasional douchebag patron who is a little pushy or who works out right in front of the dumbbell rack blocking others access to the dumbbells themselves. But that's rare and every gym seems to have those types of people. So I'm not holding that against the gym.

My gripe with the gym has to do with the fact that most of the equipment is terribly outdated and it needs a thorough overhaul. Some of the machines and equipment simply aren't ergonomic. Many of the numbers on the plates for cabled weights and machines that you use a pin to hold the stacked plates in place are missing. In other words, you don't know how much weight you're lifting. It's getting to look rundown. The ceiling and walls look so dingy. A fresh coat a paint everywhere would really improve the atmosphere.

I remember in my mid thirties when I didn't live here and was vacationing in the area. I trained at this gym back then during my short trip to the area. Now, twenty years later after moving here and joining the facility I clearly recall the same equipment that they had two decades ago. And even back then it was a bit dated but at least it was in better shape than it is today. The portable folding floor mats are ragged and have rips and tears in them. As as others have mentioned, sometimes a piece of equipment is out of order for quite a while. There are areas in the center of the floor where they have polished concrete floors. I guess this is supposed to be cool and sexy. But there is a lot of gym equipment in this area that is free-weight plate loaded. Having concrete floors in an area where 25lb and 45lb metal plates can come smashing down on them could pose a safety hazard. It should all be covered with rubber gym flooring.

The toilets and locker room area are grimy looking. Overall it's functional but it doesn't appear to be very clean. Not one member I personally know is happy with the facility and they all complain about the very same things I've mentioned here. Yet they continue to patronize this establishment. They prices have continued to go up yet no improvements are ever made. So I chose not to stay and moved on.

The machines are great. Dumbells go up to 150lbs. Their shop has good merchandise with the original gorilla logo. The framed pictures hanging are throwbacks to the start of the Golden age of bodybuilding. The only thing is, if you have a problem with alternative lifestyles, then avoid this gym

You’re admittedly pretty limited for options in Palm Springs. However, this place could really use some updating and some TLC. Everything is dingy, the locker room either smells like feet or burns your eyes with bleach. All of the equipment is dated, busted up, and most you can’t even tell what weight you’re doing. And it’s not like it’s cheap. A month membership for a visitor was 120. Now it’s better than EOS, but it’s not saying much. They could at the very least fix the weight labels and put out more sanitizing wipes in the Covid era.

The gym is clean and organized! The trainers that work there are friendly and always welcoming.

The only reason I don’t give a 5 star- the past few times the smoothie counter gets ignored!
Just today I sat at the order window for 10 min while Geo was txt on his phone. He said it was “the owner” the owner would want you to help out the guest not txt. He finally took my order for a smoothie, started making it, sat it down and walked away. Looked around the corner and he is helping someone else? Multi tasking is great if you are efficient at it. I ended up waiting 15 min and just walked out.

For over 10 years, I have been a fan of World's Gym Palm Springs and have become a regular attendee every time I'm visiting from LA. Great staff, clean facility, great classes. However on Sunday August 29th between the hours of 10:30 am and noon, my lock and my belongings were stolen from my locker.
I returned to the locker room after my work-out to discover that my lock was gone and my gym bag was gone with my wallet, car keys and house keys amongst other items. Jeff who was working the front desk at the time, walked with me while I tried every lock in the locker room, he also called the police for me which led to me filing a police report on line. Grateful for Jeff. However that's where my gratitude ends and my disappointment begins.
After calling a couple of times to see if anybody had return my belongings, I decided to come back and speak to the owner Mark. Mark was very casual in saying "I think they mentioned something" when referring to the theft which had occurred the previous day at his gym. I asked if there was a protocol in place for this sort of incident and he said "no, we've never had this happen before" I asked if he could review the video tape to see if we could see someone walking out with my bag, he said "yes, I can do that now and will get back to you. I'll do it right now." He took my phone number but never got back to me. To this day, September 11th, 2021; no one has called me to update me, at all.
Now, I know these things happen and for the most part the gym is not responsible, however, Mark said to me "I'm sorry this happen to you." A very human sentiment, but it happened in his establishment and there was total lack of recognition that a theft had occurred in his Gym's locker room, and most likely, will happen again. Also, the attendants were very kind, but at no point did anyone, including Mark, even offered me a free day pass, in recognition of the unnecessary ordeal I was going through, that had occurred at their gym. Nothing at all. A free day pass or even a full year membership would not make up for the amount of money this theft has cost me, however, an act of kindness goes a long way. Customer service and word of mouth are essential to the success of any business, and sometimes a small gesture makes a big difference.
If you decide to continue attending World's Gym, be aware that theft happens. Maybe stay out of the locker room and keep your car keys in your pocket. Save yourself the hassle of being a victim of theft at World's Gym Palm Springs.

World Gym is a great and highly motivating gym to work out at when in Palm Springs. Lots of free weights, machines, cardio equipment and outstanding refreshment bar make this a must-go-to place when looking to get your fitness on when in Palm Springs. Been going here for the last four years when on vacation and they treat this Navy Commander outstanding!
